The Holiday Inn at Miyazaki is an excellent hotel directly located at the beach. Not only is this your place if you are a surfer but also it is ideally located to do a trip down south along the coast of Kyushu. Our sea side room was spacious and clean. Several good restaurants are in walking distance.

Overall I was impressed. A nice hotel overlooking the beach and ocean. The room was nice, although a little dated. It looked like a really nice hotel from the ‘80s, which in a way gave it some charm.

My only complaint was the baggage handler who was there to great is outside. He didn’t listen to us when we told him not to take our bags. My wife had to tell him several times to leave them, but he wouldn’t listen. I understand why this service is needed, however, some people (like us) would rather deal with our stuff ourselves. This part of the experience wasn’t enjoyable to and an overall pleasant stay.

We stayed for a week in May 2025. This place looks like it was a grand resort, but has aged a little. Located on the beach (great views).
Shop and sports shop in the building.
The building maintenance was a bit in need..
The room air conditioner was hopeless. (Room 7016)
Wifi was unsecured and very hit and miss.
20km drive to Miyazaki city.
Restaurants 15 min walk to Aoshima.
Free parking onsite.
All considered was reasonable value for moneybecause it was inexpensive.

Okay we have rated the overall stay as good. The property and rooms were good and comfortable. The staff excellent. BUT the breakfast left sooo much to be desired, not the least of which was what should have been hot food actually being hot, even just warm, but every morning what should have been hot food was stone cold. Memo to restaurant manager- invest in some heat lamps to keep bacon, eggs, sausages pancakes, fish etc at least warm. It was such a let down. Without doubt the coldest hot food buffet we have experienced in our travels.

Prime location. Kind and down-to-earth staffs. Facilities are old but okay.

My biggest complaint is the noise from elevator. Maybe this only applies for the top floor, but I had to use ear plugs to sleep. Call me too sensitive but I've never used ear plugs in any of the 100 hotels I've stayed. A sound of gust from the elevator shafts and a braking sound of elevator consistently hits your room.

I asked for different room and moved further down the aisle but it was the same. Maybe they're all connected by air duct or whatever.

Would definately come back if not for the noise. Again, no property can beat the location.

It was an ok hotel but generally speaking, I think the hotel management should work harder on the staff's behavior because they are very unfriendly, don't look happy on your presence there and if you don't greet them, they do not say anything at all to you. I've been 20 years living in Japan and my Japanese is fine so there is no excuse because I talked to them in Japanese all the time.
I have hotel's management degree and if this was my hotel, there is a lot of work to do...

Considering it's a Holiday Inn hotel, none of the staff could speak English on a basic level. Most of them needed Google Translate to converse for basic directions. We had a great beach view. Room was spacious and amenities are always well-stocked each day. Location was a bit far from most attractions.

The staff was very helpful and made us feel right at home. The room was spacious with a great view. I loved that the bathroom and toilet were separate.
We wanted to try the buffet but we thought it was a little overpriced compared to the options available outside the hotel. The onsen experience with a sea view was amazing !

We came during the off season. The front desk was helpful with our late check-in and making reservations for dinner. The room has a great view of the beach. Downside to the room is the temperature control would not go any lower than 20C and window doesn't open enough to allow air flow. The hot spring is available but I didn't use it.

The property itself is a little dated. During our stay, the pool was only open for Pool Party nights - which came at a cost of USD 20 per person per evening. Also - the gym and fitness facilities were also another charge. Although the service and people working at the hotel were wonderful (what you come to expect in Japan) - there was a very limited amount of English spoken. Also - again, I'm not sure if it was the time of year we visited - but there wasn't much around the area for things to do. A lot of businesses were closed (many looked like they have been closed for some time, not just seasonally). Overall, unfortunately, we would not recommend this property unless you are there for the surf.

We stayed in the “executive room,” which was spacious and afforded us a lovely view of the sea. Loved the coffee machine, the smart phone available for customer use, great lavatory and bathing area within the room - a little separated so there’s plenty of privacy.

The breakfast dining area is so loud. All the children’s voices just echoed off the hard surfaces so it was impossible to have a quiet conversation. There needs to be some acoustical treatment for that space. Food offerings were so-so. Good variety, but not particularly high quality considering the price tag for breakfast.

The accessibility to the beach is great. However, because we weren’t doing ‘marine sports,’ (we were just wading and using flotation devices) we got booted from the immediate area and had to walk about 10 minutes (in the incredible HEAT!) to the formal Aoshima Beach area. So, it felt like advertising the beach as being immediately available was a little untrue. For families with small children, the walk to the swimming area is fairly long and unshaded, and having to carry stuff that far is exhausting.

The reception area is on the second floor. We were a little confused because there is a reception desk right away as you walk in, but it was deserted. It would be good to have better signs leading guests to the second floor reception area. It would be nice to have more areas for guests to hang out and read a newspaper and have a cup of coffee.

Have been staying here yearly since 2005. I appreciate that there are now nonsmoking rooms available and less public smoking. Now with special smoking room. Hotel needs more English speaking personnel. Onsen is much appreciated. As well as sauna.

Those who love beaches & ocean will love this hotel. Aoshima Shrine is within walking distance from hotel. Hotel is well maintained & room is spacious. Breakfast is delicious and mix of Western & Japanese style. The man made waterfall is illuminated with colorful lights. Very relaxing hotel.

Wonderful view and Great onsen hot sping

The vew of the Pacific Ocean is splended and the onsen hot spring in the hotel is wonderful. Your skin and hair become totally smooth. Very friendly staff - many of them speak English and very helpful. Great amenities - you can go there without your night bag.

The hotel room is aged and not well maintained. 2 nights were chosen to stay at here which made me feeling disappointed as the breakfast with narrow choice and many of the food and drink had been running out and took a long time to refill. Taste is also no like the Japanese food as provide by such famous brand of hotel which made me prefer to have dinner at the outside. Also as a hotel guest, we need to pay to enjoy that indoor swimming pool which is small and with nothing special.

Very Enjoyable Stay next to the Beach

The resort is nicely located near to the Aoshima beach where we swam & watched others surfing. The hotel property & the facilities are clean & in good conditions. Onsen is also great though it’s indoor. Staff are friendly & can communicate in English. I look forward to stay in this resort again to try out the sports & leisure activities available there :-)

We stayed for three relaxing days in late April in a 9th floor room with a great view of Aoshima Island. The non-smoking room was very nice and well maintained. The staff were all very nice even though the hotel was crowded due to Golden Week crowds. I'd definitely stay in this hotel again if I was to visit the Miyazaki area again. The onsen baths were well maintained and it was nice getting up early to watch the sun rise while enjoying the soothing bath. The only improvement I'd make would be to the breakfast buffet, which had a decent selection of food; however, the food quality was mediocre. By the way, select a room on the higher floors as the greenbelt trees next door would probably impact views on the fourth floor and perhaps the fifth floor as well. Overall though, I recommend this hotel as great place to stay for a beach vacation.

It’s a nice family resort by the beach within walking distance to Aoshima. Has a hot spring spa on the 3rd floor. Decor and finishing rather dated, but still has the expected Japanese cleanliness. The entrance and the lobby is huge but looks empty, while the rooms are small by North American standard, ok size though compared to Asian and European standards.

Feeling a little ripped off

We went from Tuesday to Friday for the indoor pool and outdoor activities. The pool had no water in it. The outdoor activities only operated Saturday and Sunday. Breakfast is cheap, but nothing to write home about.
The onsen is waaaaay overcrowded, mostly by foreign visitors who don’t follow etiquette (though I guess there’s little the hotel can do about that). It was rather loud and uncomfortable.
On the upside, lovely view of the ocean and a short walk to Aoshima. They also have cheap massages.

My room was facing the ocean and Aoshima Shrine. Surfers were busy practising their skill. The view was simply magnificent. The size of the bed was big enough to sleep three people.

A lot of Hidden Cost

I stayed for two nights with my family. We ordered the Japanese style room, but, as instructed, all Japanese style rooms are located in the smoking floor. The corridor is full of smoking smell, and may not good for kids.
Out of our expectation, every item needs daily charges, including swimming pool, and gym. The daily charge was 600 yen for adult (300 yen for Kids). If I go gym and swimming in a day, I need to pay 1200 yen. For late check-out, it costs another 1000 yen per hour. Additional taxes were added on my stay, i.e. bathing tax. We have no idea about it, but we believe it should be the charge for hot spring that we did not use.

全体的には良く素敵なホテルです。波乗り目的での宿泊で、部屋から波チェック出来るのも良かったです。部屋の向きにもよりますが、木崎浜まで何となく見えます。目の前の青島ポイントで海に入れば、外シャワーもあるし、出入り口に自由に使えるタオルもあります。海沿いを散歩するのも良いです。駐車場が、空いている所に停めるスタイルなので空きがなく困った事がありました。いつも同じところに停められたら良かったです。部屋もきれいで、大浴場も良いです。少し歩けばレストランや居酒屋等あり、便利です。部屋の洗面所にドライヤーがありますが、めちゃくちゃ風量が弱いので必要ならば持参することをおすすめします。

天然温泉が気持ち良いです

ANA宮崎へは3回目の宿泊です。
今回はプレミアムフロアーへのアップグレードをしていただき高層階からオーシャンビューは大変素晴らしかったです。
バスルームも広々としていましたが 3階に展望温泉施設があり、滑りのある源泉掛け流しの青島温泉はとても気持ちが良く、このホテルを選ぶ理由のひとつです。

青島のビーチに直結。非常にロケーションがいいです。夏休みだったこともあり、ファミリーが多く、朝ご飯は集中して、お皿の用意などが追いついていませんでした。全室オーシャンビューなのは非常に良かった点です。
青島の多くのレストランなどがあるエリアからは1km以上離れているので、夜ごはんを食べるところが近場にありません。朝と夜、同じレストランで食べたくはないのですが、あとはレストラン内の中華料理ぐらい。あと、ちゃんとしたバーとかがあるといいのに。
