The property was lovely and the staff was very friendly. My disappointment is in the quality of the food in the primary dining room. We found it to be unpleasant and inedible. I was also disappointed that the room we were provided was difficult to access. My husband is disabled and every step is challenging for him. The room was on the third floor and although there was an elevator, it made accessing the grounds and amenities quite difficult. Disabled rooms really should be on the first floor.

Setting was great! Paid for the 2 room suite and got a single bed hotel room with no microwave! Don’t go here!!! The only microwave is 100ft away under staff lock and key. Bathroom is equivalent to motel 6. Heater smells like something dead crawled in. There’s a restaurant on the property with live music. The live music was the equivalent of rats scratching on walls with someone who’s voice wasn’t meant for a closed box. Let alone a microphone with speakers. Downfall was that we could hear the music in our room during our stay all day and all night until the bar closed… what a way to ruin a good setting!

There is much going for this property outdoors but the accommodations leave a lot to desire as far as cleanliness. This was my second visit in 5 months and I found the same issues this time around as I did the last. The entrances to the Villas and the individual patios are filthy. I really love the outdoor peace and serenity but coming arriving to open trash cans and front entrances littered with weeks of dirt and debris is not very welcoming. Once again I could not enjoy the private patio because it was dirty. I had to spread a towel on the chair to sit. The windows were so spattered with dirt deposits that I could hardly see out of them. I suspect this may have happened from heavy winds blowing rain against them not once but repeatedly. I complained to management again and was assured that they would follow up with housekeeping. However, since this seems to be a chronic issue, I am not holding out much hope for change. A pity! Cordelia's restaurant service was adequate considering that on both occasions I visited there was only one server on duty. Several breakfast items on the menu included potatoes but none were available two mornings in a row? For $400 for two nights, I did not get my money's worth. If camping is your thing, you would be happy here.

In need of hotel impossible

The hotel is old and run down. When we got to our room the door was open. There was hair on my pillow and the bathroom had flies all in it. Room has a weird screened in balcony and the furniture was old and ancient. Never even sat out there. Was supposed to get 2 queen beds but got 2 full. Wasn’t even worth complaining. Went to 2 of the restaurants on site. Service was awful at both but food was decent at Cordelia’s. I will not stay here again overall.

This was my second stay at Lake Blackshear and once again it offered a serene and comfotable contrast to hotels found near the Interstate. It was well worth the short drive west. My room was spacious and contemporary. It was lovely talking a walk along the water before dinner in the lodge. For the price of a hotel room, I felt I had a night in a resort.

Loved the location, views and amenities on the property. Wish we would have stayed in the main lodge instead of a villa for proximity to hot tub and restaurant. Also how tub was not workinf properly (jets) and the staff were not trained on how to use it. Dont waste money on a rollaway. The mattresses need to be replaced.

We arrived pretty late in the evening, but check-in was very smooth and the room was clean and neat. The grounds were fantastic, I wish we were there in the summer but the next morning had a beautiful sunrise and we ate breakfast outside with beautiful view of the lake.
Walked the memorial and old military equipment on display in the park with great information, fantastic!

We REALLY enjoyed the Blackshear. It was about 10-15 minutes off the highway, but worth the drive in my opinion. The resort is beautiful...the grounds, restaurants, lake, the whole atmosphere was so quaint, quiet and peaceful. We did go in December, so probably not as crowded as the summer. A few restaurants on site were closed for the season but they kept one restaurant going despite the lack of business. The food was really good and the atmosphere of the restaurant was calm and pleasant. My husband was able to fish off the dock there. All rooms have a lake view and all of them have private, screened in porches, which I LOVED! The staff was very nice and welcoming. There are no restaurants near the property (except for the one onsite); the closest fast-food restaurants are about 10 miles away (10-15 minute drive one way). There is a little gym on site that had a treadmill and a stair master. The rooms have refrigerators but no microwaves.

The check-in process was a challenge. While are arrived at 1:30pm and asked for early check-in, the staff at the front desk let us know that it wasn't available and they would call and/ or when it was. That led 4 family members who were all staying on site to receive the message at the same time and scramble to check in. The resort staff did not have my reservation as a villa, and worked to change it- but it took over an hour to do so. Once I checked in to the room- there was a damp and musty smell in the room that we could not get rid of. Other family member's rooms were the same way, but not as strong of a smell. Also, the air conditioner in the room barely worked and the coolest it got in the room was 75 after leaving the unit running throughout our two night stay- even while we were out. We spoke with the staff and they did not seem concerned. Another guest (not with out group) has also complained about a smell in her room and they gave her the same response.

The public spaces of the resort are really nice but the rooms are in desperate need of a renovation. I think next time we visit the area for our family reunion we will be staying at the Comfort Inn where there is no musty smell and a free breakfast!

Boating and golf were highlights of the on property amenities this trip. We got there early on check in day and had a few hours to kill. Made a trip over to Plains, GA and visited the Jimmy Carter museum in his old high school. Worth the time.

Special note for Susie or Susan on staff there. She for my car key FOB after we checked out and were half way home, called to verify my address, and mailed it back to me. Above and beyond for customer service.

Room was dirty. Dirty bathroom with black mold, handprints all over mirrors, carpet hadn't been vacuumed, but room smelled strongly of bleach. Door was left open which left a lot of bugs in before our arrival. We weren't allowed to check-in 40 minutes early during a thunderstorm but they couldn't clean the room??

We enjoyed the bike trails, train, and marina. We rented a pontoon boat for a few hours. It would have been nice to be able to rent a tube with it. The food at the resort and marina was great. Overall a nice trip.
Suggestions/wishlist: bigger beds and a private beach area separate from the park area.

It's a beautiful resort. The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are situated where everyone seems to have a lake view from their villas. The only eating option didn't open until 5pm, maybe because it was a week day. The fryer wasn't working so we had to wait for some of our food order. We had to get our food to go because we were constantly harrassed by flies while trying to eat. We were inside and every few seconds we were swatting flies away from us and our food. We took our food back to the room. We sat on the screened in patio to finish our meal. We went to get ice from a machine outside our villa and it didn't work. It didn't look like it worked for a while the condition it looked. I had to go back to the main building to get ice. Once back to the room, the patio needed some cleaning. Window and sill were dusty and covered with spider webs and spots around that looked like mold. The room was clean but there were webs above mirrors and around corners. It's a nice looking resort with nice people but I feel if they focus more on detailed cleaning, it would be awesome.

We were not informed prior to arrival that we would he unable to use pool or hot tub and also the restaurant connexted was not open most of the time we were there on premisies.

The room was nice. Bed comfy. TV easy to use. When we ate on site the food was great and a good price. Breakfast was wonderful everyday. The problem I had was finding meals after breakfast. The grill was loud, there was no other place to eat with out leaving the site. The bars was never open. The website did not give good info about what was and wasn’t open. There was no coffee in the lobby in the morning. Bottled water and coffee in the room was not refilled each day because the room was not serviced.

We did truly love the resort and staff

We absolutely loved it and will go back. Everyone was very nice and allowed us to bring our old dog with us everywhere which we loved. It is so peaceful and relaxing. The grounds are very beautiful. The only complaint I would have is that we had to go up 3 different times to get our room keys activated and our bill was completely messed up but they got it worked out and were very pleasant about it but was an inconvenience when trying to leave.

My villa room faced the lake and had an attached screened porch so I could sleep with fresh air and hear the many birds. My room was very spacious, with a desk, wing chair with ottoman, refrigerator and coffee maker, and bathroom with 2 sinks. My bed was comfortable and there was a choice of 4 different pillows, for filling and firmness preference. I enjoyed the peace and tranquility of my villa room with docks, dining, and activities reached by walkng paths. The cons for me was every morning being woken by gas powered string trimmers, loud talking echoing in the common vestibule, and the awful habit of staff and guests allowing the self-closing doors to slam, particularly against the safety bar to keep doors unlocked as cleaning staff went in and out of adjoining bedrooms. Otherwise I very much enjoyed my stay and the front desk staff were exceptionally kind, helpful and pleasant.

I found a piece of hair in the tub. The tub could use a new plug to stop water and a new shower head. Water had no real water force Lighting was poor in the bedroom and also there was no light bulb in one of the lamps. Light fixture was missing in the bathroom. Pollen was all over the balcony area asked to have it cleaned up, never done. Did not give face towels as requested. The cleaner did not make up the room properly.

This place is a great little getaway for a family. The golf course is decent given it’s a public course. The campground area for the RV’s and camping is very nice. Great spot for camping on the lake. The marina is a very nice setup with a great restaurant and bar (under normal non covid circumstances). I stayed at the Villas and they could use a little updating. The beds weren’t the most comfortable and the tv’s were subpar. The bathroom/shower area had a sour type smell to them. Keep in mind the villas are setup as a fourplex. It can be very loud if the other units are occupied. The check in was very easy and the counter lady was very nice.

The place is beautiful on the outside. I was puzzled about the styrofoam cups we were served our beverages in the two different eateries. The first place was the outdoor grill. Everyone else was drinking out of glasses. The second place we were served our coffee in the same type of cup, everyone else had a regular coffee cup. I addressed the waiter about it. She stumbled her words to tell me there were no more clean cups. She apologized and told us it was nothing personal against us. She walked away to charge my card then came back and told us the coffee was on her. Needless to say my husband is black and I of latino and black race. We left and plan to never return. The whole feel of the place seems to feel like we were not wanted.

Room not easy until almost 5 then they checked us into a handicap room with roll in shower so bathroom was flooded after shower and no counter space at all. No towels in room-had to wait almost an hour for them and then realized no coffee pot—called down 3 days to have one delivered and it never came. Stay was terrible for almost $200 a night -a shame. Have enjoyed staying here in the past.

These were great accommodations in the middle of a State Park. You have all the amenities of a resort and a state park in one location. If you absolutely need something from civilization, there is a Walmart less than ten miles from here at the interstate.
