The Entranceway had an odd smell.

Check in was fast and easy. Front desk lady was friendly and pleasant.
Room was pretty clean. Clean staff did miss a toothpick under the edge of the bed on the floor. Bedding was clean and without stains. Didn't find any bugs or signs of them when I flipped the bed to check it. They have the lights set to all come on with the switch by the door. So if you want to use the outlets in the lamp bases you need to leave the switch on and turn the lamps off with the lamp switches on each one or just use a wall plug. My shower was dripping constantly. Bathroom was pretty clean. There was mold outside the shower at the base of the tiles where the grout had worn away. Water was hot. Breakfast was continental .2 cereals, milk, white bread, honey buns, yogurt, bagels. Waffle maker, coffee, juice. My biggest complaint was I was on the first floor and you could feel people walking around in the next rooms and the hallways. There is a weird floor underlay and the vibrations transfer throughout the building. If you are laying in bed you can feel the bed shake as the person next door moves around. I have never had this problem in a first floor room before. Probably won't stay here again. okay for a one night stay if you're on a budget and just passing through.

The breakfast was horrible, not one piece of fruit, how easy would it be just to have bananas on hand and then most of the things were out of stock. Also, we sat in a chair chair in our room and it collapsed on us so I told the front desk and they said thanks for letting me know and a couple days later they charge me $100 for the chair! They said they weren’t sure if we broke it or the person before but I got charged for it. That is absolutely ridiculous. You should be able to sit in a chair and not have a collapse. If the person sitting in it would’ve been injured what would they have done?? I will never stay at this property again and if you decide to, don’t sit in any chairs because if they break, they will charge you for it.

My drone charger got burnt in half from the hotels outlet. Once I spoke to the manager the next morning after moving rooms due to the fire hazard, the manager named Christina told me it was my choice to use that specific outlet therefore it’s not her problem..
it was a very unpleasant interaction and would not recommend staying here.

Have stayed at this Super 8 location previously when in Waverly Iowa. Never had issues arise like these. During this stay in early October 2025 my husband used the shower and discover the hotel tried to repair a hole in the shower/tub with a square of white tape. We are elderly and being in a shower where the floor has an actual hole the created unstable footing was dangerous. Not to mention a potential health and safety violation. Made the reservation well in advance of the planned visit. Very disappointed and will never stay in the location again. The room also had a significant odor around the sink area in the room. It did not come from the bathroom which is 4 feet away.

Bathroom corners were unclean. Shower was short. The toilet seat was awful and appeared filthy; it was just acid washed deteriorated plastic as if uric acid had burnt through the plastic. The back of bathroom door had holes instead of hooks. The corners next to tub and door were awful filthy. Property had an ask to clean room/change sheets/get towels policy instead of room would be cleaned daily unless told to not disturb via sign. The letter stating policy was written poorly. I took pictures of the bad quality bathroom for reference.

Beds were nice, front desk people were really helpful and very friendly. Breakfast was good but was really lacking. They had waffles which were good, 2 kinds of cold cereal and toast but not much else. Nothing to drink except coffee. They had a juice machine but it wasn’t turned on or working. I felt safe and comfortable during my entire stay and enjoyed my time here. I will stay here again.

It was certainly adequate for a quick trip to Waverly. Arrived at 1 am and no one came to the front desk in response to the door bell soynd that chimed loudly 6-8 times, but someone did finally come when I dialed zero on the phone. It's bare bones and no frills, but clean, with comfortable beds, and decent TV, as well as fridge and microwave.

Floor under counter and in bathroom needed to be swept and mopped
Back of bathroom door covered with a dust similar to cement dust.
Front desk person was disinterested that our room keys did not work and had to literally hunt for a blanket.
Except for the dust, the room was fresh and new looking.

I never stayed at a Super 8 before. We booked a room for the weekend because it was designated for a wedding that we attended. I was pleasantly surprised!

While the outside was a little dated, the rooms were clean, updated and spacious. The staff was cordial and helpful!

The location was perfect. Next to a great supermarket and across the street from a Starbucks. All walkable.

A would rate 4.5 if possible.

We checked in about 11:30pm. We had to ring for the front desk staff twice, because no one came to help us the first time. Breakfast was not ready at 6:15am. All the lights were off in the dining area. We turned the juice machine and waffle maker on and started helping ourselves. The hotel clerk said that since only three rooms were rented the previous night, she wasn't sure if she needed to get breakfast ready. Myself and my four children wanted to eat and get on the road. The breakfast area should be ready to go if the hotel advertises that they have continental breakfast.

You know what you're getting

Stayed on 3/1/24. I certainly know what I’m getting from Motel 8. I’m not paying for deluxe accommodations and that’s reflected in the price. The grout in the bathroom, well, don’t look down. The walls are paper-thin. Luckily, our neighbors were quiet. No plastic sanitized cups, or cutlery, so bring your own. There was an office chair for the desk, but it was not adjustable and sat way too low to be useable. The mattress was firm, but ok for us. The sheets had a strong odor of bleach, but in this case, I'll call that a plus. Final analysis: we needed a place to lay our head at night, and this was perfectly serviceable. We stayed at the Cobblestone Hotel in Waverly the next night. Twice the price, much nicer, but essentially, the same outcome.
