Stayed for an event. Was allowed to check in early which was a huge advantage! AC is great, you do need to leave room key in slot to keep that operational so keep that in mind if you decide to go out and about. Reception and check in was a breeze, breakfast option was worth the amount paid and the property is beautiful. Parking is a bit tricky, it is a very narrow corridor to garage and has VERY limited spaces. Train station is about a 5 min walk from hotel that has some better parking availability if you are traveling light or don’t mind the walk. Single rooms are small, I mean SMALL. Booked the quadruple room just for the bathroom space to get ready for event. But overall, amazing place with a beautiful atmosphere!

While visiting Puerto de Santa Maria during a visit to the surrounding areas in Cadiz, I came upon this hotel chain. The first time we stay with the Alegria hotels. All the employees we met during our stay were charming, kind and went out of the way to please us. Their facilities are beautiful and the Hotel sits in an very old renovated Bodega on a very small cobbled street. Nice rooms, beautiful inner court yard, elevators, under ground parking and it served tasty food and drinks in their restaurant which made it supper convenient, enjoyable and affordable. Close to the old city center which is walkable from the hotel and is loaded with charming bars, tapas and plenty of seafood restaurants. We felt always welcomed thru our stay. I will continue to look for the Alegria Hotel Chain and we highly recommend this facility.

Excellent location: 5 min walk to train station, 15 min walk to center of town. Spacious room with a great shower and effective air conditioning. Fair and reasonable price.

No in-room Wifi and limited natural light from windows, but hotels.com disclosed this upfront and it was no problem for me.

Overall, very good. Recommended.

We always have a wonderful time here, the setting is great, in quiet area between old town and station. Staff are friendly and helpful, food and drink are good, The only problem I had on this trip was the layout of the bathroom, rather tight for space but other rooms are great.

This is a great hotel and represents superb value for money. Extremely well situated for the town centre, the ferry to Cadiz and the railway station. Some reviews have said the rooms are dark but realistically this is a traditional hotel with traditional decor and is exactly what we expected. Would definitely stay again. 😀 Justine and Paul. Great location.

Great location between train station and town centre. Short walk to bars, restaurants, historical sites and the ferry to Cadiz.
The hotel has a lot of character, as a former bodega it sets the atmosphere for touring the sherry producers which make the area famous. The staff were very helpful, rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable. All in all a lovely stay.

Hotel Bodega Real- a place to go to!

I had just two days, and every moment felt secure, restful and relaxing. The decor was solid and traditional but attractively in keeping with the locality. My room was large, air conditioned and clean, with superb en-auite facilities. I spent the first day wandering around the immaculately kept old town, and spent the hottest part of the afternoon sitting on the first floor balcony in the hotel, reading and listening to real twitter- the chaffinches flitting up and down over the tiles of the balcony roof around the pretty internal courtyard. All the staff were helpful, well informed and friendly without being intrusive. The food was excellent- I couldn't believe how good even simple things like chicken soup could be! When small things needed fixing- they received prompt attention. It was everything a hotel should be- a place of rest and ease from which to explore the neighbourhood.

Very pleasing find for a short break where the intention was to visit Cadiz. Good and inexpensive transport links to the city and a good choice of restaurants in El Puerta itself. Used the train one day (station within about 250 metres) and the local catamaran service another.

A typically Spanish building, with cool dark wood interiors. Not your plate glass and chrome minimalist modern hotel! Room good but not much natural light so didn't spend too much time there. Staff very friendly. Go for the 3.50 euro breakfast in the cafeteria rather than the 10 euro continental breakfast.

El Puerto de Santa Maria is a buzzy little town, with great bars and restaurants. The ferry to Cadiz works well, a 30 minute trip right into the old town. It's a 20 minute walk from the hotel to get the ferry.

Hotel has its own underground parking. Don't rent a big car though!

Fabulous break at Puerto Santa Maria

We had a very enjoyable stay, and were particularly delighted with the Junior Suite which the receptionist had arranged for us. The hotel is in a good position very close to the train station and a 10 min walk to the centre. We loved Santa Maria and will definitely return and stay at the Hotel Bodega Real.

A little difficult to find as a first timer as the local hotel direction sign pointed us down an incorrect one way street. Great location, just one street off the sea front. Lovely public rooms, refurbished to a high standard in traditional Spanish style. The reception staff were lovely and check in was quick and simple. We parked our hire car in the hotel's private and secure car park from which access back to the hotel was through a private connecting door. Our room was clean, tidy and furnished in a simple and attractive style. The bathroom was spotless and had both bath and shower. Loads of on demand hot water.

The reception staff were very nice and allowed us early access to our room. Car parking was cheaper than normal. Santa Maria was very interesting with many old Sherry & Brandy warehouses. Would go back for another stay. The Ferry to Cadiz was exceptional and cheap at 2.65 Euros. A lovely little cruise.

There is no real 'neighbourhood'. However, the hotel is lovely and is only 5 mins or so from the railway station and 10 mins easy walk into the town. We stayed out of season in November and the rate obtained by hotels.com was extremely good. Our room was large - how nice to have a sofa and two other chairs. No outside view but the internal courtyard and balcony make up for that.

If you want a non-smoking room, make sure you double-check at Reception.

Excellent breakfast buffet. Very friendly and helpful staff.

My three day sojourn was during a Holiday and the city was simply deserted. All businesses were closed to my dissapointment. Hotel and room were clean but Air conditionning was defficient or inoperative in the room provided.
The staff was friendly enough to porpose another room with Air conditionning that was working at my request.

Service was excellent, food value for money, great choice of beverages, superb brandies, comfortable furniture in restaurant, lovely patio, big room. On the other hand Room 251, cracked bath, small window with the view of a wall and the kitchen chimney. Old TV, no wi-fi in room, only 2 beers, water and coke in fridge. The bar & restaurant closes at midday until 1800 hrs? So you have to walk to town for lunch. Would we stay again, YES. The staff and the premises are lovely.

Only real issue for English speaking guest was only one English language T.V. station. Our room had no view, this was the same for several rooms, that said lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful receptionists. Good location with free on street parking outside, pay parking beneath hotel.

A Pleasant enough stay

Large room in good order. Reception area nice and staff pleasant. Reasonable location for bars,restaurants,train station and ferry to Cadiz Only disappointment was being put in a room with a disability bathroom when neither of us is disabled - meant no bath nor shower (max. height 5' when I'm 6'2\") for 3 days!! Can't understand the logic especially as very few rooms were occupied. Parking on-site at a reasonable rate -€11pd. Overall a pleasant enough stay at a reasonable room rate, although I would not say this is a four star hotel by international standards -3 max.

Stayed at this hotel when touring the area after researching it on line.
However, its tired and very impersonal. The free wifi advertised is in fact only available on the ground floor and then didn't work at all. The staff said \" no doesn't work very often\".
The staff were not interested at all and seemed very put out if you asked them anything.
The room was very tired and in fact not as good as a Premier Inn.
I will not return and wouldn't recommend it to anyone else.

The beds were very hard, the bath was cracked and had no plug so unable to use it. There was a lizard in the room.. Towels looked old and tired. We felt that the hotel did not represent a 4 star hotel, there was cracked and broken floor tiles to the upstairs patio and the hotel just looked very tired, we had stayed twice before but felt that we would not return again.

Quiet area but close to centre

We originally booked this hotel with a view to spending most of our time in Cadiz during our week long stay. In the end we only went to Cadiz twice, using the fast ferry (€2.65 one way July 2014). Some lovely squares and bars/cafes/restaurants in the town and loads to explore.

The hotel is in a quiet area and is very well presented - the staff are welcoming and helpful and I would happily recommend it. The courtyard is a lovely place to sit in the evening with a cold beer.

The room which we get was little bit tired but non there less was doing a job for four star award. Breakfast was served in high quality so it couldn't be spoiled. Generally it was a good basic hotel. There was no internet in the room we were in. Apparently some of the rooms get it but most don't, this was not stated in the description of the hotel advertised. The television was old and did not work well. The computer downstairs that guests can use is old and slow and has an illegal version of windows making it even slower. The actual hotel in beautiful and could be so much better with a bit of money pushing it into the 21st century.

Comfortable hotel very close to railway station, and a short walk (10 minutes) from the town centre. Excellent breakfast, and large rooms with balconies/terrace. It is not the world's most characteful hotel, but then Puerto is not the world's most characterful town! Nonetheless, a very good base for visiting sherry bodegas, beaches, or getting the ferry to Cadiz.

Good value comfortable hotel

Very convenient for the station with great connections including Jerez, Cadiz and Seville. Pleasant English speaking staff and large comfortable clean room, if a little dated. Excellent aircon. Wifi connection only in public areas and a little slow. About 15 minutes to the fish restaurant and the town. An excellent choice for those exploring by train, not so good for beach seekers.

Hotel was ok, nice courtyard where you could have a drink from the nearby bar..
Outside the hotel is a very unpleasant odour coming from a vinegar factory opposite the hotel entrance. The food also was very disappointing. I chose a lamb dish which was barely edible made from very cheap stringy fatty cuts of what was supposed to be cutlets !

Good hotel near the train station. The hotel is OK specially if you need to conmute to Cádiz using the train. If your plan is to stay in El Puerto de Santa María only you may want to check other places closer to the restaurants area. The staff was helpful all the time. No complains. Indeed the best attribute of the hotel was the staff. Be warned there is a vinager factory in front of the hotel and the odour may be upsetting at some moments.

Lovely old Bodega

This hotel was originally an old Bodega and maintained a lot of the original charm. It had a central courtyard which was a good spot for a glass of sherry at the end of the day. The staff were very friendly and spoke very good English and were very helpful. The location of the hotel was perfect for us as we were travelling by train and it is about a 5 minute walk from the station. It was a short walk to the river and the town centre where there were plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants. The room was spacious and very clean with a very comfy bed and all the usual amenities. There were no tea/coffee making facilities but the room service and mini bar were quite reasonably priced. We didn't eat in the hotel but the restaurant looked very nice. This is a good value hotel and I would definitely recommend it.

Lovely if your here for the Sherry!

The hotel is surrounded by Sherry Bodegas, so it's perfect if that's what your here for. We aren't great sherry fan and found the town of Santa Maria is very quiet. There is a beautiful castle; one of the streets came alive at night and they have a great ice cream shop that delivers the beat ice cream ever mm!!! (orange and white logo.

We took a catamaran over to Cadiz City (€2.20 each way per person) public transport - great day :-) and drove our hire car to Puerto Sherry to watch the sunset, also recommended :-)

An Oasis

A charming delightful hotel, full of character in the back streets of this mediocre seaside town, albeit a town with some good restaurants. The staff were extemely helpful, and always obliging with a smile, and courteous. The room was spacious and meticulously clean, with lovely bright soft furnishing, which added elegance to the room. The hotel had a supurb courtyard which was in bloom when we went in June 2009, and was the oasis that captured our deep sense of well-being on returning from a day trundling the streets of El Puerto de Santa Maria. If in this area I would definatly recommend this hotel for a relaxing break.

It is 12 euro for parking for the day by the way (I couldn't find this on their website anywhere). We will definitely stay somewhere else next time we visit.

El hotel está situada en zona bastante cerca del centro y el concepto con patio central es muy acertado. Sin embargo, fallan bastantes detalles, y algunos de ellos muy llamativos para un 4 estrellas. Por ejemplo, el personal de recepción es algo desorganizado - ofrecieron bebida a otros huéspedes durante el registro pero a nosotros nada, nos pidieron bono de reserva a la salida dando a entender que nos lo habían pedido ya y no lo habíamos mandado, algo además inusual con Hoteles.com; al entrar y salir, o saludas tú o no te dicen nada; en la habitación no hay café o té de cortesía; el menú del restaurante es muy limitado y el local resulta poco acogedor al no tener un poco de música de fondo. Aparte, pedimos una habitación tranquila y… nos tocó justo al lado del ascensor… En general, no es mala opción si la idea es visitar el Puerto de Santa María y usarlo como base, pero mejoraría bastante con algo más de amabilidad por parte del personal.

Lovely stay at Hotel Alegria bodega real.

Stayed at Algeria Bodega Real for two nights. One single room one double. At check in we were informed that there were no more available parking spaces in the hotel. Most surprisingly since that was one of the reasons why we booked at exactly this location. The woman at the check in desk, rather quickly observed that we were not happy with that so she solved the problem by asking one of the staff to move her/his car to make a space for us - thank you very much👍
Rooms very clean and spacious. Single room had a much better aircon than the double bedroom, which wasn’t cooled properly down👎
Dined in the restaurant and it was a real pleasure. Very good menu with a fine variety of delicious local courses. The waiter “Paco” was very friendly and talkative. We had questions about sherry production and the area, and he could give us an intelligent answers to satisfy our curiosity. Also he was very efficient in talking our orders and deliver our food in a friendly and polite manner. Will highly recommend this hotel, its staff and its location🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

El hotel no parece ser de 4 estrellas nos dieron una habitación malisima tras reclamación en recepción se subsano pero la primera noche nos tocó dormir en una habitación ni parecída a lo que se publicaba, el personal es siempre amable, los baños necesitan una reforma, sin embargo las camas y las sábanas y toallas estupendas

Buenas y cómodas instalaciones, magnífica atención

Las habitaciones son cómodas y espaciosas para ir con un niño. El personal muy atento y simpático y la ubicación es buenísima ya que estás a cinco minutos andando del centro de la ciudad.

Acceso hasta el hotel muy complicado , no wifi en la habitación, malos holores en cuarto de baño y habitación y por ultimo habitación sin ninguna vista solo una ventana a un pequeño pati de ventilación parecíamos estar en un zulo

In our particular room, which in general was comfortable. The only criticisms: the windows are so high (near the ceiling) that you are not able to look out or have any view outside; The TV is small and outdated.

El hotel que ofrece habitaciones deprimentes.

Habitación deprimente, con un ventanal altísimo solo para que entrara luz pero estaba tapado con cortinas igual de deprimentes q la habitación. Aspecto todo de viejo y no de antiguo, la tv era del siglo pasado, el mueble bar vacío, la almohada como un leño de dura, hotel no recomendable en absoluto. Solo se salvo el eficiente y agradable servicio tanto en recepción como en cafetería.

Verkligen helt OK hotel. tror att vi något tidiga på säsongen för Puerto de Santa Maria, lite dött. Hade dock tur med att det var en medeltidsfestival sista helgen vi var där, och då blev det livat.

ruhig gelegenes Hotel in verkehrsgünstiger Lage

Wir hatten ein Zimmer mit Standardausstattung. Durch die beiden Fenster konnte man nur den Himmel sehen.Die Unterkante der Fenster befand sich ca. 1,75 m über dem Fußboden, so dass man sich auf den (einzigen) Stuhl stellen musste, um mehr sehen zu können.
Das Frühstücksangebot war am ersten Tag (Samstag) breitgefächert und reichlich. Mit jedem weiteren Tag, als offenbar die spanischen Wochenendgäste abgereist waren, wurde es bis zu unserer Abreise am Dienstag dürftiger. Für Sonderwünsche (Frühstücksei) musste man die Küche aufsuchen und dort beim Koch bestellen. Eine Bedienung ließ sich außer zur Feststellung der Zimmernummer nicht blicken.

Godt til prisen, men lidt gammeldags.

Hotellet er i klassisk (gammeldags) stil. Ligger nær jernbanestation i rolige omgivelser. Værelset var ok. Men det trænger til en modernisering. Små forbedringer i form af skabsplads, tøjknager, bedre sengetøj, bedre service og mulighed for at lave te/kaffe på værelset kan forbedre oplevelsen betragteligt.

Hotel carente de hospitalidad y buen servicio

Reservamos la habitación para la noche del 31/12/2017 con media pensión, es decir con la cena incluida para esa noche y nos informaron que las cenas eran hasta las 22:00 que es cuando tomaban nota de la última comanda porque la cafetería se cerraba a las 23:00 h. No nos dimos cuenta de la hora y llegamos dos minutos antes de las 22:00 y una trabajadora de la cafetería nos dijo rotundamente que no nos iba a atender, que lo sentía pero que faltaba un minuto para las diez, y nos dejaron sin cenar cuando habría habido tiempo suficiente en una hora para que al menos hubiéramos comido algo aunque hubiera sido frío. ¿Dónde está la hospitalidad de este lugar y máxime en una noche tan especial donde se sabe que todos los restaurantes iban a estar cerrados? Mi marido y yo, nos quedamos realmente decepcionados por esta situación y sobre todo por la terrible actitud de esta \"trabajadora\", y por ello, no podemos dejar pasar esta ocasión de NO RECOMENDAR este hotel porque, la principal característica que define un buen hotel es su hospitalidad y la profesionalidad y buen servicio del personal, y este caso NO cumplieron ni con los mínimos exigibles.
