Room was clean, bed was very hard. The room we stayed in was near the elevator (407) and you could hear it all night pinging when arriving on the floor.
The corridor had a lot of echo which transferred into the room.
Luckily these noises subsided later in the evening.
Towels had stains, which made them off colour.
The views from the balcony were stunning!

A poor experience

A poor experience. The hotel had a wedding on a Saturday and closed the bar and restaurant to other guests. No prior warning, no refund, or even a bottle of wine. Had to eat in Vevey. The restaurant is only open 3 days a week, no lunch service and no proper bar. The rooms are small, basic, but comfortable. The highlight of the hotel are the views but if you want food and drink avoid this one

Missing some important consciences but the room it

NO PLUGS in the bathroom. Major hassle for women getting ready. No washcloths?? This was very inconvenient. Strange bathtub without a hook to hold the handle high enough to stand in the 1/2 shower. The breakfast and view were outstanding. Our room was a really nice size and clean. Just a few inconveniences that I got used to after a couple days.

The place is extremely clean, but a little age is showing and low cost improvements. I am sure this is out of season and hotel is in a maintenance mode so the restaurant was closed.

It was a good stay. Would be better with a car. I went for the view but with the rain and fog I couldn’t see anything at all. No food offered except breakfast. Closest restaurant was a long walk away and down the hill. Excellent front desk staff .

Sheets of pull out sofa smelled of cigarettes when we got our room. Other than that, lovely place in a great location. Family room was a great layout and spacious. We had cooler weather so lack of AC was fine. Beautiful homes and vineyards nearby, Lavaux Pass provided was greatly appreciated.

The view of the lake was to die for. The room as well as the whole hotel was recently renovated and had all the amenities one needs. However the room can get quite hot so wear just a tshirt when you go to bed. Finally kindly notice that there is no reception operating after 11:00 pm, so make sure that you know how to collect your room keys from the safety boxes at the entrance after 11:00 pm.

On the positive side….the view from our small window was extraordinary. That’s it.
We were a couple travelling with our adult daughter, who is studying in France. I booked this hotel based on the photos and the reviews - and was more than a little disappointed with what we actually got. There was no picture window or balcony or open pleasant spacious room. We were assigned to a cramped garret in poor repair with sloping ceilings and no floor space on the 5th level. (Elevators run to the 4th floor only and it’s stairs after that.) The pullout couch was very uncomfortable; all the pillows were flat. The toilet seat had a broken hinge so it slid around freely, and 2 of the 3 nozzles on the shower head were obstructed meaning showering was a slow painful process. The window had dry-rot on the exterior so that when it was opened, bits and pieces broke off and fell to the floor. The breakfast was incredibly expensive and we didn’t opt-in, so I can’t assess whether it was any good….but based on everything else, we felt it was a very poor bet. There were only about 6 other cars in the parking lot so I can’t account for being relegated to such a terrible room on the basis of over-crowding. It was just very, very underwhelming and disappointing, especially given that it was also not cheap.

I chose Hotel Prealpina because it is away from the busyness of the city, I needed some peace and quiet and wanted to experience a village stay.

I could not be more pleased with my selection! The hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. The dinner and breakfast options were satisfying.

Now, the highlight of my stay, THE AMAZING VIEWS from my in-room balcony. I appreciated the opportunity to simply sit with my thoughts and write a few chapters to a new book. Treat yourself to a stay at HP! You wont regret this selection. #hiddengem

The hotels states both online as well as in the booklet they offer in the room that the bar and restaurant is open every day from April. The restaurant was not open, no bar and the door locks at 7pm or at least they did today when I returned from my meetings. Great location but don't expect to much and plan to eat somewhere else before returning to the hotel.

The hotel couldn't be in a more beautiful location. The view from our room was STUNNING! The room itself was large, the bathroom was nice and there was plenty of space. The room was very warm, but we were able to open the window and it cooled down quickly. My only note (not a complaint, because this is really just a preference) is that the beds were hard...VERY HARD. Worth a stay!

This hotel apart from an amazing view over the lake doesn’t offer much. The hotel itself needs a proper renovation. I don’t get the dirty curtains in the bedrooms (we booked 3 bedrooms and all had dirty or ruined curtains). Massive potential to become a proper 4 star hotel. Not the cleanest. Breakfast okish but for a 4 star you would expect more. We only booked it because it was the most convenient considering the crazy prices around the country.

I was here for business but treated myself to this hotel for longer stay.
For a 4* hotel this is pretty poor show.
On first arrivial thought nice entrance area but tiny reception. And no lounge?
Went to my room. Tiny, dirty, still had items in bins from previous occupants.
Bed very uncomfortable. Paper thin feather pillows.
No water in the room as expected. (Kept asking but never arrived over my 4 day stay) No coffee either as out of stock.
The floor was covered in fluff and dust.
The bathroom door didn't shut.
Nice shower however the soaps etc were not replaced once used.

On a very noisy area. Could hear the road and trains all the time.
The female reception staff very welcoming. Apologied for errors but nothing changed. No water. No room cleaned. No toiletries.
Totally gutted.
I would guess they, as the male receptionist did with me, just shrug and carry on. People will continue to book and get dirty rooms, lack of informations.
The hotel need staff training and a total make over inside and out.

If you rate this place based on views alone, it gets a 10 out of 5 stars.
However it was not the most comfortable stay and felt more like a 3 star vs the listed 4 star hotel.the heater would not shut off, and had the room temperature over 85 F, which made it very uncomfortable to sleep and stay in the room. We killed various types of bugs daily during our 3 days stay, even with windows and doors closed there were numerous bugs. There are vineyards and other farm life nearby, so assuming that is why? The walls are very thin and you can hear everything happening in the rooms round you. The front desk reception is run like a country bnb, no one is there past 11pm during the week and 9pm on weekends, which is stranger still for a “4 star hotel.”

The best part of the whole stay is the view, if you pay extra to book a room facing Lake Geneva, otherwise I would not stay there again.

The hotel overall is also nice, although in places it feels a bit more three star then four star, the rooms are renovated but could use some deep cleaning in places (e.g. spots on the bathroom door). The breakfast was good and open till 11am on Sunday, which suited us a lot. Some dishes were not refilled when we came. Overall a good experience!

This hotel has spectacular views! The staff were very helpful and allowed us to check in an hour early once we arrived. The check-in and out process was a breeze and we even left with fresh croissants! Great location to the local railway station, Chexbres Village. The view going up on the train is incredible. The walk from the train station to the hotel is a bit tough since it is mostly uphill. It took my wife and I about 15 minutes with two large suitcases, but it's totally worth it in the end!

The hotel location is great, if you book a lake side room the view is beautiful. However the room itself was rather worn. There was wear and tear on furniture in the room, the upholstery was all scratched up. I asked the front desk if they could replace it or give us a better room, she said that they have a lot of furniture like that and that they could/ would not exchange it or give us a better room. The bathroom was sub-par. There was only one main light in the whole bathroom ceiling, which did not give adequate light levels to the whole bathroom. There was a mirror above the sink, with built in lighting, however when it turned on, it gave of a very faint blue glow. I asked the front desk to check the fixture and see if the light bulb needs to be replaced. They said they will call their electrician, however when we came back to the hotel room, there was no improvement. Overall I think the bathroom was rather poor. The hair-dryer in the bathroom (attached to the wall) was old with significant wear. Also the hotel is loud, the main stairwells and hallways have hard surface, which amplifies all the sound significantly, you can hear loudly people walking in the hallway and opening/ closing their rooms. Overall acoustics of the room and hotel is poor. There was a band that booked a hotel the night before our check-out. Before 8.00a.m the next morning, we heard an instrument being played in the room (s) down the hall and could not sleep in.

We were very disappointed from the moment we entered the room: the hotel was chosen because of the beautiful view on the Geneva lake from the big window. We specifically booked “room with balcony, full lake view” that has higher charge than “Vineyard view” rooms. But we were given a room with predominantly vineyard view from the balcony window. Staff was very unhelpful, not interested to make guests comfortable. We were told that we have misinterpreted the description “room with balcony, full lake view” - the view is not from balcony window, but from a smaller side window. It was misleading. In addition, we were misled regarding the lunch/dinner place. We arrived on Sunday at 4pm with 2 children and have been told that most of the restaurants are closed (as expected), but Pizzeria du Nord is open full day and we can go there to feed the children straight away. The Pizzeria was indeed open, but its kitchen was closed till 6:30pm. Btw, the hotel restaurant is closed till beginning of the high season, mid May. In overall, if you are looking for a room with a beautiful lake view, you might be better by checking other hotels.

School days revisited

I was at school at Prealpina in the 60's when it was still the original majestic building of the 1920s. It is a pity that after its closure it was partly subjected to a soulless and cheap looking rennovation which partly destroyed the original charm of this beautiful building.
Avoid booking single rooms on the 5th floor as they lack views.
