Great location and nice sized, comfy rooms. Only downside were some of the restaurant staff getting upset if you dont provide 5 hours notice for dinner, even though restaurant was always quiet. Overall though a minor blemish on an otherwise great resort.

What i really liked was being right on the beach, the privacy from others and how comfortable it was for the 7 adults and the 2 young children. The beach was safe, with plenty of kayaks to use for free. We all felt very comfortable. Lots of lounge chairs on the beach. Everything you needed was provided for from a washing machine, pegs, dish washer and all the comforts of home. Big BBQ . A big deck and two huge up stair varenders with big tables on all decks to hang out on. I would choose this accommodation next time I holiday in Rarotonga if I am going with all the family. 5 bedrooms, Two bathrooms and big family area. you can't go wrong with this choice.

Snorkelling not as good as raro as a bit murky but could have been due to current and recent rains.

Resort quite nice, separate family, adult. Beachfront rooms misleading. We paid additional for this and it was not beachfront. I asked about that and the service member said, \"yes, it can be confusing, not actually on beach, but closest to beach.\" Found resorts in Rarotonga took groomed their beach, not so here. Some staff more helpful than others. We asked to book spa treatment and were told to go on line, that's why they gave us free wifi. Water pressure for shower not good. Room itself very pleasant, good breakfast, nice happy hour, small, but nice pool, good spa specials and services.

Tamanu promotes itself as Casual Luxury. It's casual - and very nice - but not luxurious. The rooms need a bench or table on which to lay out clothes, you have to live out of suitcases in the cramped kitchen. The kitchen needs more than cheap plastic glasses - a couple of small plates and some cutlery should be provided so that you can enjoy a snack on the deck. The TV really should have an extensive menu of statins, including streaming services. These are small costs when set against rates above NZ$600 per night. The cycles are killers and should be replaced or avoided. Having said that we really enjoyed our stay and wish new manager Erin all the best. Luxury is down the road at the Pacific Resort.

Amazing place!

Amazing property that is small, but big enough to provide all amenities. Every room/bungalow had an oceanview. We stayed in the Villa and it was fabulous! It was a close walk along the beach to a couple of other restaurants, altho the one on site was very good. Bicycles available for free to ride to other resorts or into town. Rent a scooter from the front desk and see the whole island. Great location for snorkeling. Nick Henry is the GM and is kind and sincerely interested in not only his guests, but what's best for the island and for his fellow Cook ISlander citizens. Wonderful man.

Tamanu Beach is authentically a Cook Islands style of bungalow accommodation right on a beautiful swimming beach which has lovely sunsets. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The private outdoor showers are a nice luxury. There are 2 pools and the lovely restaurant served delicious meals and cocktails as well as providing great entertainment. The inclusive breakfasts were a wonderful way to start each day. The spa was very relaxing and my relaxation massage was a real treat. The staff were friendly and helpful and our tours and transfers were booked with ease. Tamanu is a lovely relaxing place to enjoy Aitutaki Island.

Everything was amazing! From aunty Nane’s welcoming upon arriving and the entire stay. We love it even more when they would call to check if we were dining in. Staff was accommodating. This was a wonderful place to come and stay. Spacious rooms on adult side with everything you needed. Swimming pool right at your finger tips with a 2 min walk to beach with nice snorkelling. Breakfast was complimentary and delicious. Along with lots of lunch and dinner options The staff where all very welcoming and friendly. . We arrived around 9am and was welcomed with complementary breakfast. The Island night was amazing and a must if you are there on a Thursday. They have scooters on site which made it great to see around the Island which is beautiful. Looking forward to coming back.

The room was very spacious with air con. It had a great sized deck with a table and daybeds. Also an out door shower. The only negative was we had no hot water and asked twice for it to be fixed but it never happened. We did however receive a credit so happy with that.

Wonderful property, with easy access to the beach, to the pools, very tidy and the staff is just so exceptional and accomodating.
The restaurant is top quality too and the Island special dinner is just amazing, both in terms of food served and show.

The only point where there is still a bit of improvement is the pace of serving in the restaurant, bringing all at once after waiting sometimes for a while. It would be nice, for example, to have the cocktails before the mains (with maybe some coconut chips or other snacks) rather than at the same time.

The fact that transport to and from the airport is included in your stay is a really nice touch (although we felt we left too early for our departing flight).
Our time at Tamanu Beach started with the Sunday BBQ Buffet. It was nice to eat close to home and it was a really good value with some local dishes. Sadly, no entertainment.
We had a 1 bedroom and thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor shower & day beds. Our view was more of the pool than lagoon but we did see the water through the trees. Bungalow it's self was fine, yes some fixtures were a bit old but all in working order (except TV). Bed and pillows were comfortable. This space could easily fit more than 2 adults.
This location really is one of the best on the island. Our friends were at Aitutaki Private Lagoon and had terrible wind & were quite isolated in terms of location. Tamanu Beach is amazing!! SUP, kayaking and bikes provided, no snorkels due to covid but great fish & marine life with healthy coral. We thought this was an adult only venue however there were some children during our stay. We had breakfast provided and were allowed to order anything off the menu so much better than continental buffet provided at other hotels. Also, there are 2 wings of the hotel so if you can't find any lounge chairs, bikes or kids are being loud, walk to the other side

Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would stay here again!! In the times of Covid, I thought service was great & stay was relaxing.

Unfortunately some of the facilities were not available and we had not been notified. We had counted on the snorkel equipment being available as advertised and it wasn't. With the great snorkel area right at the doorstep, this was extremely frustrating. Emailed our concerns on our first day to the property but got no response. They claimed it was due to Covid and not being able to be sure to clean it properly between uses but other properties didn't seem to have that problem. No excuse for not updating website. The snorkelling available here was the primary reason we chose it.

Great location, beautiful beach and lovely accomodation. Staff made us feel welcome getting our room ready early and giving us a complimentary late checkout. Weekly island night was fun with great buffet and cultural entertainment. Bikes, paddle boards and kayaks are provided.

We spent 6 nights there recently. Great layout of bungalows, we did not have direct beach access but it certainly felt like we had!
Recently refurbished bungalows are perfectly summarised by the hotel's motto - casual luxury.
I have never had such a feeling that I'm staying in a luxurious hotel yet it feels very casual and laid back.
The only thing that could use some improvement is the restaurant - food was good, with attentive service, but is not on par with general high quality feel of the hotel.
Finally, reception staff was absolutely amazing taking great care of us. We have not used the day spa, so cannot opine.

Aitutaki is worth the distance.

Aitutaki is a wonderful island and well worth going the distance to visit.
Tamanu Beach - Very good food - beautiful spacious room. (some service issues in getting our room hot water repaired and at time of bag pick up) but would definitely stay again if returning to Aitutaki.
Had fantastic deep tissue massages in their spa facilities. Great to just swim and snorkel at their beach.

We had a gentle cat reside on our deck despite the fact that we did not feed her. She tried to sneak into our room often but that was entertaining to us. No complaint. We called her Squeaky because she squeaked instead of purring. She we clean and sweet.

The hotel was gorgeous, right on the beach. The only thing we think let it down was the food. Sunday night BBQ, the beef and lamb was announced as New Zealand's finest, but was totally over cooked and not a good advertisement for New Zealand products.
