Our stay with our 2 adult children was just what we hoped for some genuine family time. From the time we landed, we were treated in the most genuine and special way. Collection from the airport was faultless and arrival at the property made us feel like family. We had 2 Beachfront bungalows which were ideally furnished and supplied with push bikes, kayak and paddle board. Restaurants were perfectly serviced by the most beautiful staff. Special shout out to Terri, Jerry, Nocy, Luke, Pali and the reception lady (so sorry to not recall your name), you are wonderful kind people. Lagoon area excellently equiped with seating and water sport equipment. Property grounds were stunning and perfectly maintained. Not that we needed to leave but other really nice eateries with a short walk/bike ride. What an exceptional team of people you have that are committed to providing the ultimate stay. We will see you again. Thankyou

The kettle in our room was full of mold and we boiled the water with it. I used the water to make a tea and I thought that was the teas flavour. My wife later tasted the water and immediately throw up. When I discussed with the resort manager, he offered me a 500 nzd discount. I was weak at the moment, so I took the offer. Now I really regret it because now I realize how serious the issue was.

I still have the photo of the kettle full of mold.

Recently had a 6 night stay which was amazing. The garden & maintenance’s staff need a special mention to how well kept this property is. The dining staff go above and beyond to ensure you are informed and catered to. The room was extremely spacious, clean, tidy, private & well themed for the location. Aitutaki on a whole is beautiful and highly recommended getting scooters to check out the greater island.

Location is beautiful

Possible improvement from our perspective:

Inclusion of mosquito spray in public areas. Lots of mozzies around the resort. Other resorts and restaurants offer at zero charge.
A daily complimentary transfer into town, as it quiet far away from most things (although bikes are available)
We had abit of incorrect information provide to us on check in regarding scooter hire/license which saw us without transport over the weekend as everything was closed.
Extra charges added onto activity prices if you get the hotel to call and book. Generally 20$ pp each time.
Unfortunately after check out we feel the ball was dropped. Ferry guy called us into the transfer bus, but the driver dropped us off and left. Didn’t say anything to anyone, no good bye, no thanks for coming.

Apart from very minor things, the place is beautiful and the staff and warm and welcoming.

Amazing tranquil place to rest and picture perfect!

I stayed there 4 nights and 5 days. I even enjoyed the rainy days with cappuccino and champagne.

I hope the restaurant menus are a little more diverse and selective. May want more salad menu. It is hard to get vegetables in the island.

I stayed at Aitutaki Lagoon Private Island Resort for 3 nights, and unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations—especially as a solo traveler. While this resort might cater well to couples, solo guests are clearly an afterthought.

Despite their policy stating that check-in is at 3pm, I arrived on the same flight as a couple who was taken to their room almost immediately upon arrival. I, on the other hand, had to wait an additional hour and a half. The front desk staff, particularly Roneel, offered vague excuses and showed clear preferential treatment toward couples. Given that the hotel asks for your flight information in advance, there’s no excuse for being unprepared.

Once in my bungalow, things didn’t improve much. The lounge chairs were dirty, torn, and moldy, and mine had visible bird droppings—not exactly the “luxury” you expect at a 4-star property (which frankly feels more like 3 stars at best). On my first day, I went on an island-hopping tour and returned to find the room had barely been touched—only one large towel replaced, bed made, and dirty glasses from the night before still sitting there.

On the second day, I opted to use the $20 off credit in exchange for no room cleaning—but honestly, after the first day’s effort, there didn’t seem to be much difference.

The one bright spot was Luke from the restaurant—he was warm, welcoming, and genuinely interested in making guests feel seen and valued. His kindness stood out.

The staff were all absolutely fabulous, there was nothing they wouldn't do for us. The room we had was the premium beach front bungalow, plenty of room for 3 people. The reastraunt had plenty of choice's on the menu for food and drinks. The one thing that made it pleasant was that the staff new your names which makes it more personal.
The only down side was the prices of the wine which I found to be quite expensive. Overall a fantastic resort to stay and relax at.

I loved the location of each bungalows, how they were styled and the privacy of being able to enjoy your own beautiful view from your deck and the natural but carefully manicured tropical surroundings; and the facilities provided and offered. It was also so unique Being able to see the sunrise and sunset on the same day! Wonderful stay, can’t praise the staff enough for the hospitality and making our stay so enjoyable. We booked the deluxe beach front bungalow, felt like a small apartment not a hotel, outside shower was so nice, the small fridge kept our water cold (refills at the restaurant bar), good quality toiletries, amazing view from our room. Bikes are at the ready along with kayak and paddle board. Breakfast options were great, we enjoyed 2 dinners in the restaurant that were very good.

Having stayed there before we were looking forward to this trip, however sadly it is nowhere near as good as it used to be. The atmosphere isn't as good, the cleaners are definitely not as good and the rooms are looking tired and run down. The food was awful and there were even 2 couples we struck up chats with who moved to another resort due to how bad things were. Hopefully they can get things back to how it used to be.

Really close to all 5 stars. The only reason it’s not 5 stars all the way around is bc we have stayed at similar 5 star island resorts that were in slightly better condition. Having said that, I highly recommend this place for a tranquil, unique (in a good way), and true island experience. There are few places with this small of a population and community that you can visit and still be welcomed by the locals. We will be back to visit the other Cook Islands for sure.

This is a truly stunning location, the staff were most welcoming and the accommodation was very comfortable, but pricey. I enjoyed snorkeling in the channel especially around the sunken small fishing boat. There are some live coral outcrops, an abundance of fish varieties and endless long, giant sea cucumbers

Amazing! Pati, Luke and Mere were the best! We only spent one night there and thats our biggest regret, but the team made sure we were welcomed and looked after. Coconuts and lei necklaces on arrival. Accomodation was only a few steps from the lagoon and there are so much to do at the resort alone! Will definitely be back!

This property is to die for. The location is one of the best in the world as the true beauty of Aitutaki is everywhere you look with the turquoise blue waters and white sand beaches and sand bars. The beef tenderloin and prawns were excellent along with the wine. The bed was super comfortable. Loved the premium beachfront bungalow with the most beautuful views of the lagoon. Wifi was excellent and the staff were so happy friendly and efficient. They do their best and also feel like we are all family. I will definitely be back again for sure. I love that it is adults only, too.

The staff and facilities at this resort are above exceptional. The staff did an excellent job (particularly Luke, Jerry, Illy, Ramana, Rawi, Nere and George). They were all kind, friendly and always greeted you with a smile. Facilities and approximity to airport and other restaurants/cafes were also well received. The resort is not the cheapest on Aututaki but its worth every single dollar if you are looking for a quite adults only location. Negative Comments: None

Kia Orana! If you're going to Atiutaki you MUST stay here! The staff becomes family oas soon as you meet. Rooms are beautiful and comes with 2 bikes, kayaks and paddle boards! The surrounding water is spectacular and simply from a dream! The outside shower just enhances the Cook Islands experience. Words cannot justify the experience this beautiful hotel offers. Walk around the entire hotel grounds because the grounds are beautiful. If you decide to go onto the main island of Atiutaki (since you have to take quick 2 minute fairy ride from hotel) please, please, please rent a scooter or a car. We did it on bikes and we were exhausted and got sunburn.

The place is tired and is quite dated although it seems a Reno is underway. The overwater bungalows were lovely in terms of where they were and the views but really need some basic tlc.
Staff were generally very good. The location is amazing. Local cafe and restaurants great.
Little things - like providing somewhere to dry clothes ( line or rack) would have been great. One of our bikes only had one brake working which while not a significant issue, when we are paying close to $1500 a night we sort of expected a bit better.
Food was generally good. After 6 days breakfast became a bit boring though…

Aitutaki Lagoon Resort was an unbelievable experience. Living on Hawaii most people questioned why we would travel to another beautiful and remote destination. Our stay here was purely relaxing. We also found it to be truly more breathtaking than Hawaii. The staff could not be more accommodating and welcoming. The bungalow was IMMACULATE! We had everything we needed on the lagoon but did venture over to the island to experience the true culture of the island. A MUST STAY if you are traveling to Aitutaki.
