Great location. All city shops, restaurants and historical sites easily within walking distance. The pool and sunbeds were particularly welcome in the late afternoons on the hot days we stayed there. Fan provided in the room was a bonus (temperatures were exceptionally high).

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Pierre et Vacances in Loches. The apartment was clean, quiet and quite spacious (for the 2 of us) and we had a nice balcony overlooking the town. The parking was very good and it is a few minutes walk into the town where there are several places to eat.

The property is well positioned in the centre of town but the noise level from traffic is high as well as music from the bar opposite. The car parking is good but the doors out of the property are heavy to open .
Reception facilities are limited and closed for a few hours during the day and for a whole day when we were there.
We were booked for six days and the rooms are not serviced and when we asked for fresh towels a firm No was the reply with a come T that they were not a hotel.
The room facilities otherwise were good and clean.
We had a good holiday in Loches but would pick another place to stay.

3 night stop stay

A lovely 3 night stay slightly out of season in September, so it was quiet. Well placed to explore Loches on foot, visit cafes, restaurants and shops. Loches is fantastic for sightseeing. Convenient parking and well equipped for self-catering. We were in the old converted mill section and although there was no balcony, we had a wonderful view and perhaps more privacy than in the new section. Possibly rather hot in season with no AC. Heated outside pool was most welcome. Reception was most helpful.

Clean and compact apartment near centre of Loches

We stayed two nights as a stopover en route from Cherbourg. The apartment was spotless and great for our needs, a double bed and two single sofa beds in the living room. We had a lovely view from the living room and balcony of the main building, pool and Loches castle. Kitchenette was suitably equipped and we ordered croissants and baguettes from reception the night before. The pool was clean, warm and kept our children entertained for a couple of hours but, there is plenty to see and do in Loches. Parking is free and behind the hotel next to the train station and access back to the hotel is secure. Minor irritation is that reception said the €200 deposit (paid by card) takes 8 days to be returned to my account which seemed unreasonable.

Overall clean, tidy. Strange that we make our own beds using clean sheets provided on arrival. Not pleasant when dining outside to have neighbours below or alongside smoking. Perhaps the property could consider a non-smoking block of rooms. Despite these concerns, really enjoyed a relaxing stay here.

Wonderful place, we really enjoyed our stay. Our only negative point was that there is no air conditioning which makes sleeping uncomfortable. The only other issue we had was the restaurant that was recommended by reception the le Latin bistro I have never met such a nasty person as the female owner. She refused to take our booking for eight and on the second night when we asked for two tables of four it was met with sourness and rudeness. Avoid if you can.,there are other nicer places in the vicinity with lovely people who welcome you and interact.

What else could you want.

The apartments are extremely well equipped with every thing you could need.
I stayed on the second floor of building 2. That building has an extremely good view of the castle and tower, which are lit at night. Depending on the time of year there is bright sunshine on your deck and into the living space.

An excellent idea, less than excellent execution.

First the good bits. The location is wonderful: the view from the balcony is of a 500 year old royal castle, the apartment is comfortable, the pool warm, the staff both friendly and helpful.

The not so good bits. The bedroom of a 1 bedroom apartment is an 8x6 box, it has room (just) for 2 single beds. The beds are not suited to anyone over 5'6\". There is no air-con, so in hot weather you can either close the window and cook, or open it and wake up nice and early when the staff come past.
The kitchen was designed for someone 6'6\" tall. My wife (5'4\") could not actually reach the cookware and, if using microwave, had to guess at the state of the food.
Finally the town of Loches appears to shut d own at 8.30 in September. If you want a meal after that, buy a takeaway pizza, if you want a drink, make sure you have something in the apartment.
I realize that last has nothing to to with Moulin les Cordeliers, simply a warning for Future guests.

Great but no air con

This place is lovely, it is right in the centre of a gorgeous village steeped in history. It’s walking distance (literally just over the road) to everything the village has to offer eg restaurants, shops and market day. The chateau is also in this village and there is a brilliant view of it from the apartment window. So top points for location.

The apartment itself is also actually very good for the price paid. Clean and tidy, comfy beds and living space and small but efficient kitchen.

There were just a couple of negatives.
No air conditioning at all or even fans that can be borrowed from reception. We visited this place with an 8 month old baby and the weather that week was 30 plus degrees so this made our stay very uncomfortable. We bought a cheap fan from the local supermarket in the end.

The bedroom is also very very small, literally just enough room for the two single beds.

Generally this is a great place so I would recommend it but as long as you don’t go in the height of summer and expect there to be air conditioning.

We had a great stay. The kitchenette was very useful and so were the laundry facilities. The location cannot be beat. The bedroom was very small but we knew that. The main downside was the pillows on the beds. They were awful. I had to use my travel pillow. We stayed during a holiday weekend and the pool was loud with all the kids using it but that did not bother us. If you don't want to hear a lot of noise I would ask to be in the B or C building if you are renting an apartment with a balcony (which I recommend)

Apartment style hotel on the river

My wife and I used this as our base camp for exploring the Loire in August 2017. The hotel was very nice, our room overlooked the river and had a great view of the the castle. The rooms were spacious too. We loved the proximity of the hotel to medieval city because we could spend the evenings drinking and eating just across the river in the city. We were very happy with the small town and lack of tourists but it is not ideal for seeing a lot of the more popular castles in the Loire because of the longer driving times. We were able to get to Amboise and Château de Chaumont, but that was as far as we went because they were 30-45 minutes drive.

The staff was very friendly. The hotel is built on an old mill site right next to the ancient gateway to the city. Very picturesque. Balconies have a glass enclosure that can open which is great for adapting to weather. They do not have regular housekeeping and pool closes at 7:45 pm.

Loved our room and its location in Loches

Awesome location in a extraordinary, historically interesting town. It is a block from the Main Street and the Saturday market. Unlike what is found in the U.S., this is a \"vacation-style\" lodging, with separate bedroom, a kitchen \"wall\", table, sofa bed, and outside patio with table. Like a cabin rental in the States! You need to make your own bed and you are in charge of your housekeeping. At the end of your stay, you stack your linens and towels, do your dishes, and sweep a bit. Everything is furnished including cleaning supplies. The complex is lovely and it features a large common area and inside/outside pool. We are now making a point of staying in other places in which this hotel chain has units.

Great location and view.

The apartment was very well appointed but some aspects very disappointing. As Australians travelling and using self catering apartments we have come to expect that dish washing liquid, tea towels, etc would be supplied. The same of at least one packet of dishwasher powder for the dishwasher. The floors of the apartment were in need of vacuuming and cleaning. There was a vacuum cleaner in the apartment, but no mop. Almost all of the cutlery and plates needed washing before use.

The apartment had a wonderful view across the road to the old city and our apartment had a large balcony with table and chairs, which we were unable to use as our neighbour was a heavy smoker and chose to smoke on the balcony, not in their apartment. Hence all the smoke wafted through the slats to our balcony and into our apartment if the sliding doors were open.

Another thing that we were unaccustomed to was that all the linen was packaged in plastic bags and we had to make up our own beds. Not a huge problem, but unusual for us.

Apart from that we had a wonderful stay in Loches. It is a lovely place, everyone was very friendly. Also very close to a lot of the chateaus.

Making beds might be Pierre's idea of a vacance, but not mine! Especially galling after a long drive and paying hotel prices. Otherwise fantastic location, accommodation and pool (be sure to arrive before 7pm). Receptionists were really great too. Shame about the bed making.

My wife and I stayed a week in Loches. We found Loire Valley fascinating, with all of its castles, which we visited several of them. We also visited Zoo Beauval (over 4600 animals) located nearby Saint-Aignan. We had a car so we had the freedom to explore at our leasure.

its close from the main touristic places, close from the main restaurants, looks very modern from outside, but interior is a bit dated, parking in the property is a plus, our room had some clothing and used towels hanging in the room from the people that stayed there before us, not the best cleaning service I would say. Also be aware that they sometimes charge if you use their towels and sheets.

Overall it was a good stay. Very convenient location in the center of Loches few minutes walk from supermarket, tourist office and small local stores , centrally located to area attractions. Farmers market on Saturday was a lot of fun too.Apartment was very clean and spacious for 4 people ( we got the biggest one with 2 bedrooms),well stocked with dishes, pots, pans, utensils, etc. One thing to remember their reception office open limited hours and closes at 7 pm on most days. If you are arriving late you have to remember to call and get instruction how to retrieve apartment keys from the safe. They staff speak good English, so instructions are easy to understand over the phone in case your French is not too good. Mattress is very hard and pillows are very uncomfortable. They were washed many times and all inside turned into clusters , does not give any support to head and neck. I am not too picky, but sometimes woke up in the middle of the night because I was uncomfortable. It may be a problem for somebody with back or neck issues. Also apartment is not provided with basics you usually find in similar places like extra roll of toilet paper, some dish washing liquid, salt,pepper,etc. You would need to buy everything for your stay. Overall it was a good stay, we really enjoyed Loches, and I thing it is good, reasonably priced accommodation for a family.

Proximity to major tourist sights

This is a great place for those who want to shop locally and cook your own meals. A good family oriented hotel offering 2 bedrooms and enough room to spread out. We enjoyed the deck where we had a great view of the old town. Room was very clean with comfortable bed and bedding. Kitchen was very well supplied and all worked well. Carpets were a bit dated and worn in high traffic areas and should be changed out. Staff very friendly. Wifi available but at a small fee. Free parking was spacious and located near the rooms.

Two nights here on our way to the South was a great location.Easy to find, great parking facilities, large room en-suite. Within 50 meters walk of the Historic City Centre. Some great little shops, really nice resturants and a fantastic market day if your lucky to be there when it's on. The Staff spoke English and were very helpful & instructions/map/notes were available in English barring the odd spelling mistake. A bit dark at night, but has auto electronic lights outside once you get within range of the IR's. We would reccomend to family & friends, also use again ourselves.

La résidence est idéalement située. Notre appartement ( 1 chambre) était dans le bâtiment moulin, il possédait une vue magnifique sur la cité royale (notamment de nuit). Dommage que le logement soit vieillissant et pas encore rénové car les autres appartements dans les autres bâtiments ont l'air impeccable. L'appartement est quand même tout à fait acceptable et confortable

Appartement très bien situé, à deux pas de la gare, d’un très beau marché. Office du tourisme à côté, ce qui est pratique
Par contre, manque d’entretien. Moquette couloir vétuste, tachée, l’appartement aurait besoin d’un bon coup de peinture, pas de hotte dans la cuisine. (Je ne sais pas si c’est le cas dans tous les bâtiments).
La piscine extérieure serait à améliorer, le pvc intérieur se décolle.
Nous avons trouvé la prestation chère par rapport à la qualité de ce qui est proposé.
A noter une très bonne literie.

Ce n'est pas un hôtel : 400 euros de caution a l'arrivée sans visite contradictoire des locaux et avec une formulation vague de la réception concernant la politique des banques pour leur déblocage ;pas de visite contradictoire à la sortie et pas de notification de déblocage ! 1 tube de gel douche , 1 rouleau de papier toilette , 1 mini savon pour 6 jours (c'est mesquin),les draps et les serviettes de bains ne sont pas changés , des lits une place de forme \"couchette\" (70cm) intenable pour un adulte ,un canapé -lit inconfortable ,local froid , couloir de circulation à la propreté douteuse et ou ,pendant 6 jours nous avons croisé au même endroit le même chariot de linge quelle que soit l'heure ,je me pose la question des 3 étoiles affichées .A part cela bien situé , belle piscine ,de l'espace ,un parking . Mais pour l'hôtellerie mauvaise expérience

Arrivée tardive, il fallait se garer devant l'hôtel pour récupérer les clés puis reprendre la voiture pour aller vers le parking mais le parking était plein.
Obligé de se garer dans la rue.
La fiche expliquant comment accéder est vraiment mal illustrée.
Le confort des chambres est correct et le logement etait propre.
