The hotel is a big sprawling site, but it is mainly immaculate property with lots of attentive staff and is a beautiful position in Salalah.

A special mention to Adel (Coco's Bar) and Ben (Breakers Restaurant) for their excellent service and customer friendly attitude.

I missed one star off the overall experience as some parts of the hotel are looking tired now. Our room 8107 had blown glass in the patio doors meaning you couldn't see through the glass. Also, it would be good if there was an excursion booking centre in the hotel, rather than having to go to the Marina (hard work when the person you are on holiday with, struggles to walk).

I would however recommend this hotel to anybody looking for a nice comfortable place to stay.

The resort does not allow local taxis or external transportation services, which limits guests' options for getting around. The in-house transport services are significantly overpriced—often charging 3 to 5 times more than the normal rate. This felt like an unfair advantage being taken of tourists. They say it is government rule but nothing wss shown to support that.

If you're planning to stay entirely within the resort, this may not affect you much. Just you'll end up paying much more than expected just for airport transfers or simple outings.

Aside from this issue, everything else about the resort was excellent.

Very good option If you plan to relax. It's far from city center and other nature districts within Salalah, so it's recommended for the last couple of days (after visiting planned districts).
Once arrived to the property, it will be difficult to find out easy transportation with reasonable cost, unless you have your own vehicle.

We enjoyed our stay in the hotel . It’s perfect for families. The hotel provide nice activities for kids and relaxing sites for adults . The kids club is very good , the water park is very nice as well. The hotel is close from most of the sites in salalah and the weather is cool with little humidity from time to time . This season the rain was not much so u won’t see any water falls but the greenery is everywhere

Relaxing Hotel.

The hotel is located inside Hawana Salalah resort among three other hotels. It has amazing area with lagoon beach and marina which has resturants, coffee shops and few gift shops. The rooms are sepacious but outdated with clean old furniture. Staff is amazing and friendly. Food is delicious but make sure if you order room service that they got your order correctly. There is free parking lot. I highly recommend it and I will come again.

We traveled as Family with kids in end on June (not high season) so hotel wasn't crowded yet we loved our trip.

It should be clearly communicated upon booking that Aqua park is closed on Sunday and Monday
Quality of shampoo used is not for a 5 stars hotel

Staying at Al Fanar is one of the best experiences in life.

I went there with my wife, & we enjoyed each second of our trip.

1st; the hospitality is beyond expectations. The staff is very kind. I would like to personally Thank Mr. Hussein Al Ma'ashani for his extreme kindness and hospitality. They even offered complimentary coffee & fruit platter.

The hotel is safe and quiet, the rooms are very clean, & the parameters are very nice to walk&talk, & enjoy the ocean from the different seating areas and cafes there.

I wanted to have a dinner on the beach, so the hotel made it possible in just 2 hours,& made it a very unique & memorable experience thanks to Mr. Umlesh who stayed after working hours to make are that we are happy with arrangements.

The dining options are vast,& the breakfast open buffet is great with lots of varieties (One can have the breakfast at Al Fanar,or at Rotana Hotel (5 minutes way from Al Fanar)

One very enjoyable service you get to experience when booking with Al Fanar is a limitless free entrance to the adjacent AquaPark,which is a very nice experience with must-try slides, & the memories there are non forgettable.

Another great experience we had with Al Fanar is the bike rental to ride around the ocean and areas of Hawana Salalah. Very great experience.

What needs improvement in Al Fanar is the quality of bed mattress and pillows, plus the quality of Shampoo & Shower Gel they offer.The ones they have are below expectations.

Special mention to the wonderful staff the hotel has, especially staff in their dining kitchen and bell hoopers. The hotel is reasonably well-maintained. A couple of things I would like to bring to the notice of the management is why ain't any dedicated Indian restaurant. Furthermore during the summer months why would they close the pool at 7, nobody is going to enjoy the pool in extreme heat. They would love to enjoy the pool and the view after the sunset as they are on vacation.

Poor value for money. The room is clean but the air conditioning is freezing throughout whole property, room was very far from main area/reception and one of the pools was closed. Housekeeping didnt come until 3pm and left the floor very wet and dangerously slippery. Only one restaurant open for dinner with no a la carte option, expensive buffet only. Better options out there for similar price, wouldn't stay again.

Too much mosquitos

Too many mosquitos. Mosquitos bite even through clothes. They have to kill the whole moustique population in the city like in Turkish cities as Antalya. In that case mosquitos will not come back, or population of mosquitos will be low. People are obliged to go inside buildings because of mosquitos. Maybe you come for the good weather in the winter and to go outside here but they do nothing against mosquitos since own people do not live that much outside. Besides, own people cover their full body so there is no need for mosquito protection. You can wear what you want but you are obliged to cover your body to protect against mosquitos.

Overall, the property was beautiful and the options of multliple beaches were too good. Staff was very friendly.
The pool was maintained well. The pool bar was the real highlight and the staff there was really good.

We had issues with the room Air conditioning as it was not working well at night.
Also, one of the pool was under maintenance.
Dining in options could be improved.

Breakfast was very varied and everything was tasty. Room had a good view and was accessible for a range of restaurants and cafes.

Common areas in the accommodation building were not regularly cleaned. The room was very damp and the damp smell permeated everything. Although Salalah in Khareef is humid, I expected that a 5 star hotel would be able to cope with those conditions better.

The area around hotel and the open area of hotel was very beautiful.
Breakfast was good.
The reception was very kind and friendly and they cooperated a lot with me for the late checkout

The only thing that could have been better was the cleanliness of Sofa and Chairs in the room, and according to the corona situation, it might have been better if there would be a hand sanitizer in the room and towels were being packed.

Only the king room didn't have a bathtub as it was mentioned herre on booking.com, which has to be corrected. Very happy with this hotel

Very new facility. The hotel has clean pool, beach and bars. The pool was always cold though, was difficult to send kids to pool in the morning, we had to stay in beach till after lunch when the sun heats up the pool. The facility also has pets for kids, rabbits, ducks, pony, etc. it was a fun activity for kids to feed and pet the animals.

We liked this property. Location was awesome. But Billiards and cycles for rent are very expensive. Would have been good if they have Indian food also other than biryani. But overall our stay was awesome in Fanar. Thank you Team Fanar for giving us a memorable holidays. See u again.

The room was quite spacious with big balcony.
What i didn't like is that the ground floor rooms facing the pool are noisy and you can't really relax. Also it was funny how my room service tray with the dirty plate that i left outside the room wasn't removed for 3 days :) otherwise the facilities are really good and the staff are friendly and very helpful.

Fanar hotel is right on the beach and the staff is amazing. The hotel is under construction so many things are still being completed on the property. We went during Khareef which is supposed to be the best time but because of the weather many things were closed including the beaches and the toys to play out on the water. The waves were wonderful to watch and the weather was spectacular!
The hotel was very nice and the staff was very helpful, nice, welcoming, and ready to make sure your stay was a pleasant one. They made our trip even better than expected! Customer service is top priority here and this makes them a top notch hotel.
The room was very big! The shower was amazing, and the balcony looked out to the pool. Stunning scenery! The only negative was the bed...it was as hard as a rock and the sheets were scratchy. Other than that the room was very nice.
We really enjoyed our stay here at Fanar Hotel in Salalah and will return.

Nice hotel but extremely chaotic in public areas, especially in restaurants. The front office staff did not speak good English. Did not expect there to be so many all-inclusive package holiday guests - shame the restaurants did not offer any a-la carte options (only buffet)

Very good and mediocre impressions.
The staff are in general quite mediocre ( have to chase them to order food, would knock on our door when the \"do not disturb\" sign was hanging outside, eould not clean the previously used table when we sat fir lunch, etc) and poorly trained on customer service ( not sure if it's a Salalah problem - not so used to tourism¿?- or just this hotel's staff recruitment). However we complained about a problem we encountered and the General Manager (JP) was fantastic, very nice, hands on and customer oriented. This other person from the team, Imelda, was also very nice and did her best to make us enjoy our stay. I guess these two people would compensate for the rest...

Then facilities are very nice but the water on the beach smells and looks funny ( dirty?).

After all the ups and downs we did enjoy our stay and left Salalah with a positive feeling, but have the impression the personel is still a bit untrained and some parts of the hotel unfinished.

Incompetent staff with poor management

The manager Sulamain is not able to think for himself and cannot solve problems like an adult -- it seems he would prefer that you tough it out so he doesn't have to do anything, and he is too proud to apologize even though a manager should take responsibility for issues at the hotel (whining that it was his staff who made a mistake, not him is unacceptable!). A big mixup with airport transfer (the Fanar driver forgot someone and so had to turn around back to the airport after having driven halfway to Fanar, and no explanation or apology -- I only understood what was going on because I can understand some Arabic) and then we were forced to wait for an hour on the return transfer because the driver was late taking us back to the airport...Fanar badly needs a new shuttle driver who is punctual. Strange smell (new paint or drywall?) throughout the hotel. The artificial cove Fanar has created with sea breakers does not allow for the sea water to circulate, so there is a tepid water smell around the beach beach closest to the hotel (and your balcony view will probably be ruined by the smell too). Also the breakfast buffet is nothing special, so if you decide to stay here, skip it and do breakfast at nearby Juweirah. The Fanar lower level staff are trying their best, but they are clearly not trained well and so you have to manage everyone like they are 5 years old so they don't mess up. You will have to follow up multiple times on your requests or you will be disappointed.

The hotel is well built, poorly decorated and terribly managed. Simple things we take for granted such as charging food and other items to the room and paying at checkout were not availalble to us, room service had to be paid in cash when the food is delivered.
Location by the beach is very nice, but the place has no vibe whatsoever. The restaurant seating is a mess of tables and chairs with no aesthetic plan or form. Will not stay there again.

Tolles Hotel mit einer riesigen und weitläufigen Anlage. Essen war TOP - jeden Abend ein anderes Thema, Zimmer und auch die ganze Anlage / Strand waren sehr sauber, WC's am Strand immer ordentlich und sehr sauber, Personal immer freundlich und hilfsbereit. Absolute Empfehlung! kleiner Tipp: wenn möglich das Upgrade auf Premium vor Ort buchen...das ist dann noch besser (extra Privatstrand + Restaurant+ tägl. frisches Obst + Auffüllung der Minibar)

Die Unterkunft ist sehr groß und man muss Bedenken, dass die Nachbarhotels zum Teil die Anlage mit benutzen.

Unser Aufenthalt war leider eine große Enttäuschung. Das Schlafzimmer war völlig mit Schimmel befallen, die Luft extrem feucht und der Geruch sehr unangenehm. Durch die Feuchtigkeit und den Schimmelgeruch riechen nun auch unser gesamtes Gepäck und unsere Kleidung nach Schimmel – wirklich ekelhaft.
Zusätzlich wollte uns die Rezeption beim Check-out 20 OMR berechnen, weil wir angeblich keine Karte für die Badetücher abgegeben hätten. Wir haben jedoch nie eine solche Karte erhalten und keine Badetücher vom Hotel benutzt. Trotzdem wurde uns nicht geglaubt, was das Ganze noch frustrierender machte.
Insgesamt nicht empfehlenswert – sowohl wegen der unhygienischen Zustände als auch wegen des unprofessionellen Umgangs mit Gästen.

Pros: Fantastic location with beautiful sandy beaches, plenty of activities to do, all very well organized, extremely friendly staff attentive to guests’ needs, and excellent quality food.
Cons: Without a premium experience, the included drinks are too few, the rooms need significant maintenance and possibly some modernization, and the Wi-Fi is very slow and doesn’t work in many areas of the hotel (including part of our room and some beaches).

Sono tornata da qualche giorno e vorrei ripartire! Ho preferito prenotare con Expedia perché è stato molto più economico! L’ho fatto per telefono con un operatrice molto gentile e professionale che mi ha saputo consigliare per il meglio. Ho optato per la mezza pensione ed ho fatto bene! La colazione nei vari ristoranti e’ varia e abbondante. Ci sono 1000 cose dolci e salate. A pranzo mangiavo sulla spiaggia dove ci sono delle capanne che dalle 11.30 servivano patatine fritte, verdure, hamburger, delle pizzette ripiene di carne e formaggio, riso con beef hot dog,gelato, frutta ed altro. Per la cena invece andavo nei vari ristoranti del Fanar dove ho sempre mangiato bene! Le bibite nella 1/2 pensione non sono comprese. L’acqua si è anche il the! La camera delaxe è molto grande. Pulitissima! La struttura è curata e pulita! Il personale gentile e attento. Per il transfert mi sono affidata a loro . Ci hanno mandato un autista all’aeroporto alle 5 del mattino e alla partenza alle 3 sempre del mattino. Puntualissimi e professionali! Le spiagge sono 3. Ad ognuno la propria scelta! Ci sono bagni e spogliatoi sempre puliti. I teli mare sono compresi. La sera c’è sempre musica o spettacoli. Abbiamo fatto due escursioni nei dintorni prendendo un taxi dall’hotel! Ci siamo trovati bene. La gente è socievole e tranquilla! Quindi esperienza più che positiva! Ci tornerei!

Struttura con molti servizi, ristoranti a tema e posizione sul mare.
Non manca nulla, piscina riscaldata e non, bar e ristoranti con chiringuito ovunque per piccoli snack di frutta o pane tipico.
Unica pecca, rispetto a qualche anno fà, le biciclette a pagamento anche se il costo non è esagerato ai clienti con all inclusive dovrebbe essere compreso.
Ottima scelta di cibo e qualità, sicuramente una vacanza piacevolissima … consiglio assolutamente!!!
