Nice quiet little hotel. Decent pool and sun lounger area, not overcrowded at any point on our stay. Room was large but very basic. Bathroom could've used a Hoover/clean - few dead (and living) creatures in there. We walked to the local town and hired bikes from the hotel to explore further out. Would recommend a hire car as not much to do in the area and cabs are rare and expensive. We drove out for a couple of day trips. The breakfast was very basic but perfectly adequate, the hotel evening restaurant was fine, but service at the bar was slow (unmanned most of the time and really no one there during meal service times) and there wasn't really any vibe in the bar area. A decent central base camp for our trip but wouldn't go again if planning to be hotel based for the majority of our time as just not enough going on.

Hotel quite 'out of the way' but was ok for us.

We had booked a superior room, which was clean but not that big. We were in an annex with a terrace, which faced over the disused tennis courts. the was also a brick building we think was something to do with the sewer, as there was a terrible drain smell when we wanted to sit and enjoy an evening drink before dinner. Toward the end of our stay, there were a lot of builders lorries going past our room, to the disused area, and they were quite noisy.

Very enjoyable stay, swimming pool was excellent, staff very friendly, and hotel was very relaxing. Good base to enjoy northern sardinia. Restaurant was excellent, very fresh food. Free breakfast was a nice inclusion. Would recommend this hotel for a relaxing break.

One-night transit

We stayed at this property on our way from Alghero to Porto Pollo. It is a simple hotel with very friendly personnel at the restaurant. The food was definitely the highlight of the hotel. The pool looked nice but we didnt have the time to use it unfortunately. The room was a bit small and the hotel is definitely a bit outdated. In peak season it present decent value though.

In the Middle of Mountains

The staff were excellent but we felt we were misled by reviews about this hotel. Over 1 hours drive from the nearest beach. To travel to anywhere you had to negotiate twisting mountain roads. Breakfast boring but the evening meals were generally ok. Good job, because we only found 1 eating establishment in Tempio Pausania that was open in the evening. Our holiday, not just the hotel, left a lot to be desired.

Be prepared for a long walk in to town if you don't have a car.
Hotel is clean but looks a little dated.
As stated by others breakfast is a little repetitive.
On the plus side the hotel has a nice pool and great views.

Lovely hotel to stay!

This hotel is excellent! All staff were brilliant, hotel was exceptionally clean, lovely pool (looked exactly the same as the photos!). Food in the restaurant was lovely and good value (a massive bowl of pasta was only 7 Euros) and a 1/2 litre of wine was 5 Euros.
The local town was Tempio Pausania which was 1km away. We always drove into town because part of the way didn't have a pavement. The town itself was lovely, especially the main square which had a great atmosphere in the evening. Several cathedrals/churches to look around and plenty of cafes.
The Pausania Inn is away from the main tourist areas, which is what we wanted, so you do need a hire car. We took day trips around the top of the island and we weren't disappointed in one place. All very natural: we saw a 4000 year old olive tree, swam in hot springs, and what would have been a spectacular waterfall (we just saw it at the wrong time of year)...still gorgeous though!
We will most definitely return to the Pausania Inn!! :-)

Rustic but great

We had a wonderful week here, the room and hotel were spotless (slightly odd decor). The staff although non English speaking were hardworking and very friendly. Restaurant food was lovely and breakfast was a great bonus with good variety although is like to have seen more fresh fruit. You would need a car as it's out in the sticks but was a lovely place with views over the mountains, I would highly recommend.

Great location up in the cork oak mountains, yet close enough to attractive large town for a 20 min walk to restaurants etc in eve (take a torch as first part of road has no pavement and unlit). Hotel staff smashing, helpful, friendly. Good inexpensive restaurant in hotel if you don't want to go to town. Good value wine list and house wine by the litre. Rooms large & clean with good views (panoramic views from breakfast room!). Stayed here for a week and loved it.

We expected more for our money

I have stayed in this hotel with my husband and my 2 year old.
First thing I encounter was that our room only had 1 bed (2 twin beds pushed together) they call it Queen bed. Since the booking was for 3 people, I expected to find also one more bed or sofa bed as you find in other cheaper hotels like IBIS.
After talking to the staff, next morning we found a cot in the room with a mattress that was too big for it.

We were explained that we would have to pay for the cot at 10 extra euros/night.

As we did not want to pay extra euros we ended up sleeping together in the twin beds.
We found the mattresses extremely uncomfortable.
We were not impressed with the breakfast either. First thing, we are vegans and there was hardly anything suitable for us (no soy milk, no margarine, no plain pastries).
The coffee and hot water were in a thermos and only lukewarm, we saw a few people requesting a fresh coffee from the cooffe machine. The tea bags are the cheap brand from the local LIDL.
On the positive side the pool was very nice, all the members of staff were lovely. We loved all the beaches we visited, the closest one about 30 minutes drive.

In resume, we loved the island and its people but were not that impressed by the Hotel, perhaps we have been spoiled by the budget hotels IBIS and B&B where we have been staying when travelling through France with their comfy big beds, extra beds, fresh bread and coffee, soy milk, etc and so we were expecting more for a more expensive hotel.

The hotel is in a good location away from the hubble of the town. The rooms are OK. However the main thing that lets it down is the menu. My advice is to eat out.

IDEAL LOCATION TO EXPLORE THE REAL SARDINIA

This is the fourth time we have returned to the Pausania Inn. For us it is in a location ideally suited for exploring the small Villages which are very traditional or only 30 mins drive to some very beautiful beaches. A car is essential and it would be wise to plan some places to visit although the Proprietor is more than helpful with suggestions. The Menu is a little sparse on choice but food cooked and presented very well and the superb service from the Staff is first rate. Views are stunning from the Hotel towards the mountains and the swimming pool is clean and offers a welcome respite from the heat. We would also suggest flying to Olbia as it is only 40 min drive to the Hotel through some beautiful scenery which is a nice introduction to the area. We have been made to feel so welcome and cannot imagine staying anywhere else on this beautiful Island of Sardinia. Absolutely first class establishment - highly recommended.

Not worth the effort of trying to find it !!

The Hotel is very hard to find ... even with the signs that are in the town !! It can be approached from two entrances , unfortunately one is like a farm track and when it rains it is very difficult to get in and out that way. Hotel is very dated, wi-fi can only be used in reception !! no english speaking tv channels at all ! Beds are very hard and the pillows are awful sooo hard . Showers are hard to control .. you either freeze or get scalded . Breakfast is ok .. nothing special unless you are Italian or German and you eat cake for breakfast . The Restaurant is average .. VERY limited choice and some meals very strange .. There are some lovely staff working there but one or two of the others are rude and very unhelpful . Nothing to do at all in the Hotel if it rains !! But pool area is ok and there are some quite nice tennis courts. In our opinion DONT BOTHER ... There are lots of better places to stay on the coast and the people there are much nicer ...:-(

a fantastic stay

a fantastic stay.
very quiet so if that is what you are after then this is the place for you. beautiful sunsets. the staff and owner were excellent and the food was super (not for those on a diet). the local wine is well worth a try.
top tip, the one-a-day coach (16:30) from the airport drops you at the top of the hill and stops in the morning on the way back about 08:45. only 5 euros each way.

Very nice rooms

The rooms are very nice. Most of them have a tarrace or garden with nice landscapes. However if you get the only room wich is near the bar downstairs, it will get very noisy until the bar closes in the evening or early in the morning. We had a young daughter which was vary noisy for her.

Real gem of a hotel with beautiful views of the mountains all around. Large rooms with private balcony/garden
Everything within less than an hours drive; fantastic beaches, mountains, historic cities and health giving spring water thrown in.
Very friendly staff especially Mario and Elizabeth.
clean and good sized pool, great for kids especially as we had 3 energetic boys.
10 mins walk to town centre with some good restaurants/pizzerias, 5 mins walk to a well stocked supermarket, 5 mins walk to ruin of 3500 yr old nuraghe dwelling with nice bar/ restaurant.
Mountain air was a real plus - all the heat/sun with a freshness.

Unfortunately, due to bad weather conditions during our time of stay, our review is influenced by that fact. I do not recommend this hotel outside the season as it is in high mountains and the weather there is usually rainy. It is dark and they do not have insode pool or any other free-time-pass by facility. It is a very nice hotel, but the quality of the buffet breakfast is poor in my opinion. There was always the same choice of salami and cheese, eggs (only boiled), white soft bread or brown toast and no vegetables such as tomates or cucumber. This was in all hotels in Sardinia and we found that very bad.
Other than that the hotel was nice.

Amazing holiday, fantasic hotel, would definately consider staying again!

My partner and I found Pausania Inn to be a very enjoyable place to stay. The staff were very friendly and even taught us some Italian as we were both keen to learn! It must also be added that the staff, both at reception and in the restaurant had fantastic language skills and were able to converse in Italian, English, French, German (and quite possibly more). I noticed that this was often of much comfort to vistors of the various nationalities that were staying at the same time as us.

The breakfasts were great, providing plenty of variety. There was the option of coming back at the end of the day for an evening meal too. We did this on 4 times and every time the food was fantastic - I would highly recommend that future guests have atleast one meal at the hotel.

The location is perfect, just 1km from the centre of Tempio Pausania, which is a beautiful place with many interesting sights, cafes, shops etc. We visted the town on a couple of occassions and the rest of our holiday was spent exploring the rest of the north half of the island. From Pausania Inn we found it was very easy to drive to Castelsardo, Alghero, Sassari, Palau (where we joined a full day boat tour of La Maddalana coast and surronding islands - highly recommend this!), Nuoro, and of course, Olbia.

We visited Tempio Pausania Inn in September. We found it to be fairly quiet in terms of the number of guests but this was lovely, giving the place a more personal feel. Would defiately consider staying again

Would be happy to go again

We have just returned from a wonderful week at this hotel. We found the staff very welcoming and helpful, the rooms clean and comfortable and the facilities excellent. The surrounding countryside was lovely with views of the rugged mountains and the nearby town of Tempio had some lovely restaurants. A car is a real necessity here though as public transport appears to be non existent. It is possible to walk to Tempio but some of the road is unlit and care is required on the uneven pavements. We ate in the hotel restaurant a couple of times and found the food to be very good, but the menu perhaps a bit limited. If we have one complaint it would be the lack of shelving in the hotel room meant we had to leave some of our clothes in the suitcase. On the whole, we would be more than happy to go back and would recommend it to anyone.

Sunshine - scenery - Sardinia

The hotel was just outside the town of Tempio Pausania. We hired a car for the whole of our holiday and we would have found it too far to walk into the town (we had our small grandaughter with us) when we wanted an evening meal away from the hotel. It was about 2 miles to the centre. Taxis were very expensive. You did not have to go into town for meals however because lunch could be ordered and served by the pool or eaten in the restaurant. Drinks were available - but we found alchoholic drinks from the bar expensive. The staff and proprietors were very helpful and there was always someone available at reception. The rooms were kept really clean and the towels were snowy white and soft.(That's one of the things I really look for). A car is needed if you want to be able to see some of scenery and to get to the coastal areas. We had one evening of entertainment - starting with a typical Sardinian meal and finishing with Karaoke - we were not troubled by the lack of entertainment. It was a relaxing type of hotel environment.

this is a very well managed hotel. All the staff- reception, restaurant and domestic, are friendly and efficient. Rooms are well looked after on a daily basis and the pool area isappropriate for the number of guests. Particular complements to the chef who provides a varied menu of regional food with a strong emphasis on fresh ingredients...much appreciated.

Pausania Inn is just outside of the town. There is a good sized swimming pool and overall lots of space. The food is excellent and very reasonable. The service is as good as in any 5 star hotel. Our room was very clean and well appointed for a 3 star hotel. The only suggestion would be to improve the sound proffing between rooms but ut us a minor point, overall the staff could not have been more helpful and if you want to be off the tourist track this is the place to stay.

Dining staff friendly. But very cool reception and owner disinterested. Standard room very small and in need of an overhaul.Twin beds 2ft 6ins wide could fall out if not carefull. Lots of hairy caterpillers so could not leave door open to balcony. Evening meal just about adequate,no veggies only salad or potato. Badly planned menu choices,could be all tomato one day or all fish,despite a choice of 3 for starter and main courses.desserts suspiciously out of a packet. Maybe fine for 1or2 night stay but no longer.

Das Zimmer war renoviert, das Bett bequem und der Service war sehr gut. Im Restaurant kann man gut essen, hat aber etwas Speisesaal Charakter. Parkplätze sind ausreichend vorhanden.
Das ganze Hotel ist aber etwas in die Jahre gekommen und es fehlt etwas an Ambiente.

Bel établissement, calme mais dommage qu il n y ait pas de restauration possible a proximité. Le seul bemol dans les chambres qui offrent une literie confortable, un bel espace et une propreté certaine se trouve au niveau de la douche..qui a besoin d etre raffraichie.

We stayed in one of their comfort rooms which seemed to recently been renovated. It gave a very fresh and clean appearance in comparison to other hotels in Sardinia that we stayed at. Helpful staff. Breakfast with a view of the mountains. However breakfast in Sardinia (which applies to this hotel aswell) is not like the intercontinental breakfast you would get in other countries. Pretty simple breakfast with a lot of sweets; cakes, croissants. The only vegetable that was served was tomatoes for example.

Purtroppo non abbiamo dormito affatto causa materassi vecchi , macchiati e con molle sulla schiena,ci è stato detto che la nostra camera non era ristrutturata e era standard e non confort, ma al momento della prenotazione non era affatto specificato, altrimenti spendavamo 20 euro in più per la comfort come ha detto la reception).Il frigo bar mancava e la cassaforte mancava. Bagno con problemi allo sciaquone del wc poichè non funzionava bene.

Positive: the staff is very friendly and helpful, location is beautiful, alot of choice for breakfast. Room is clean except for the mould on shower walls. Shower is nice though.

Negative: bed is quite hard, noisy people around pool and bedroom (couldn’t sleep), cold at night even when the airco was turned off. Flies at breakfast (no covers over food). Location is secluded but Tempio is a nice town.

Would stay here for a night or two but not longer.

Camera 206: mobilio nuovo e funzionale, aria condizionata, frigo, cassaforte, dotata di spazioso terrazzino con tavolino e sedie. Wi-Fi funzionante. Il bagno è un po' sacrificato, la doccia non è per nulla adatta a persone corpulente. Il televisore è davvero piccolo. La piscina si presenta molto bene. La colazione può migliorare perché è prevalentemente dolce, anche se ci sono due tipi di affettato e un formaggio. Non c'è pane fresco ma solo pan carrè da tostare.

qualità/prezzo ok! e qualcosa in più..

ho trovato questo hotel per caso, cercavo qualcosa che fosse centrale per poter visitare da costa a costa tutto il nord della sardegna, ed ho trovato il Pausania Inn. Posizione centrale, ma un pò scomoda solo perchè collinare, (qualche curva sempre al ritorno dalla costa), ma prezzo ottimo confrontato agli hotel simili della zona. Colazione semplice ma buona, camera nella media, pulizia ok. Molto disponibile e gentile lo staff (ho richiesto una camera con frigo e mi è stata assegnata anche se non prevista dalla mia prenotazione), fantastici soprattutto i ragazzi del ristorante, in cui abbiamo cenato spesso (si mangia bene ed abbondante). Piscina tenuta bene.
Insomma lo consiglio se non si vuole il solito hotel villaggio anonimo e di massa.

Il ne manque qu'une rénovation complète ( en cours) pour que ce soit ok. Emplacement, bâtiment, piscine, c'est bien mais les chambres ont trop vieilli, les lits aussi, et l'insonorisation est d'un autre âge !

good location for hiking & biking

large space in my room, even if a little cold because of my late booking. wi-fi and parking are ok but breakfast is very poor in choice and quality. must be improved. location super facing mountains and a lovely countryside

Hotel ottimo e posizionato per un tranquillo soggi

Soggiornato solo una notte come da programma. Camera ampia, confortevole e ben riscaldata senza rumori. Colazione self service con abbondante scelta. Personale molto cordiale. Tornerò sicuramente.

Hotel già visitato cinque anni fa, ma sempre gradevole e ottima posizione, silenzioso ma abbastanza vicino al centro ciittà.

Auserhalb vom Ort schlecht zu Fuß zu erreichen.

Das Hotel ist sehr, sehr hellhöhrig. Die Einrichtung und besonders die Badezimmer (Schimmel in der Dusche) sind in die Jahre gekommen. Bei unserer Matratze sind die Sprungfedern kaputt gewesen und drückten sich raus. Schlafen nur mit Schmerzen. Bei unseren Freunden war das Bett nur ein Rost auf Beinchen die schief standen.
Die negativen Kleinigkeiten könnte man noch beliebig vortsetzten.
