This hotel is truly amazing! Definitely recommend stay here.
The staff were all polite and helpful, especially Vanni who went above and beyond to help us when health problems occurred.
The views and facilities were amazing and the food was stunning! Even with dietary requirements- nothing was an issue and all tasted just as delicious.

I recently stayed at this hotel and was thoroughly impressed with the location and facilities. Situated in a stunning spot with incredible views, the hotel is a great option for those seeking a peaceful and relaxing getaway. The rooms and common areas were clean and well-maintained, and the prices were reasonable.
One minor inconvenience was that the hotel does not allow outside food or beverages within its facilities. While this policy could be frustrating for some guests, the hotel's own food and drinks are excellent, and the bar service is available 24/7 for added convenience.
Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a comfortable and relaxing stay in a beautiful location. Just be aware of the policy on outside food and plan accordingly.

Amazing stay in the nature

Thos is a magical holistic type of place. It's in the middle of nature (so not walking distance to anywhere) for those who wish to switch off and enjoy spectacular views, great walks, amazing food at the restaurant (with views to the lake) and good service. The rooms are cute, cleand and spacious.
Easy to park and easy to get to the place in spite of the remote location.
We loved everything in this place. Well recommended!

Tranquil oasis - Perfect to unwind - VERY CLEAN!!

Beautiful location very tranquil.

Nice building and grounds.

The owner, Salvatore, literally doesn't stop. From serving breakfast at 7am to tidying up sun loungers at 9pm. He runs this place with his heart, and it shows.

Pool is nice and cold, ideal to cool off. Very quiet grounds. I'd say a car is imperative if you intend to explore the locaility a bit further.

Restaurant is spot on, both in terms of price and quality.

COVID 19 practices were consistent. The cleaners did a tremendous job of keeping the place clean. Having travelled quite extensively in my 36+ years, often in 5 star accomodation.... this has to be the cleanest room we have ever stayed in. You could eat your dinner off the floor. IMMACULATELY CLEAN.

If you wish to relax and unwind in the sun, in peace and quiet, this is the hotel for you.

Our favourite hotel in Sardinia

We loved everything about this hotel. The building is beautiful, the view couldn’t get any better and the staff and owner are amazing, so friendly and helpful.
The pool is great, big and with enough beds. The room is super spacious, ours has an amazing view and it’s really quiet. Also the food exceeded our expectations, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner here, all really good with lots of options.
If you want a get away from the crowds, have peace and are looking for a beautiful hotel, this is really the best place.
Special thanks to the owner and Vari, for being so helpful and accommodating!
Only regret is that we didn’t book more nights, wish we stayed here longer!

The moment you first drive among the spectacular rocks and you approach the great Relais Valkarana, you are astonished by the breathtaking views of the wonderful Lago del Liscia. Trenino Verde, the millenary olive trees and cork oaks, the turtles, the possibilty to do bird watching and nature photography, the nice swimming pool are all a great plus to this beautiful location.
Special thank you to Vanni, the loveliest manager, who was incredibly kind and patient and who recommended us the most hidden and amazing beaches and locations in all Sardinia, for which we are forever grateful! Also many thanks to Salvatore the owner for his hard work, Rossano and Massimo for their cooking skills, Sandro for his friendliness, Daniela for her funny outgoing personality, and not to forget the amazing housekeeping staff.
The island has a terrific vibe and we will surely be back, Monica & Sergiu

We booked the hotel for location in the hills before we went to the coast. The hotel is remote and the only way to get there is by car. The nearest town has little to offer one restaurant, a couple of bars and a lovely pizza takeaway. Dinner with wine in the hotel will cost you over £75, no competition. When it rained the room was uncomfortable to spend time in. It was out of season so was really quiet. No atmosphere in the hotel. The staff were very pleasant.

Looking forward to going back again

We got the warmest welcome from the loveliest staff: nothing was too much trouble. We had a truly wonderful time and lots of laughter. Great atmosphere and a real international mix of guests. Our First trip to Sardinia and we loved it. This hotel is in a rural and secluded location, so you do need a car, but you are in easy reach of the most gorgeous beaches and resort towns. The hotel is beautiful and authentic. It's spotlessly clean throughout and the rooms are a good size. I agree that a few more hangers in the wardrobe would be useful, but that's a very minor issue.. Beds are firmer than we are used to but we slept very well.
The food is something really special. Fresh produce cooked well and beautifully presented; there's something for everyone in the balanced and varied menus. They were also happy to accommodate special requests. We ate out a couple of times for a change but the food and the service at the hotel was definitely the best we had. We booked on a B&B basis but the drinks and meals were very reasonably priced in comparison to other restaurants. We were pleasantly surprised as Sardinia can be expensive.
We will be back to see Salvatori and his team as soon as we possibly can!!

We used the hotel as a base to attend a wine festival at Luogosanto and found it really to be really nice. Everyone was very pleasant and welcoming. We had a lovely lunch on arrival overlooking the lake Liscia. Our room had views overlooking the lake as well. You will need to rent a car to get their and there is little to do in the immediate surrounding area. I would go back again if I was visiting the area.

Relaxing and quiet experience

My sister and I chose this hotel as it looked like a peaceful and beautiful place for a 4 day getaway. We were not disappointed!
The location is idillic, next to a lake and surrounded by hills. The pool was lovely, and had enough sun-loungers for everyone - and on many occasions, there were only a couple of other people sunbathing/swimming at the same time which made it quiet and pleasant (which i have never experienced in peak season!).
The food in the restaurant was delicious and we also went to the local town for pizza on a few occasions.
The only issue we had was wifi - due to a cable in the region being broken for a day or so. But this was not the hotel's fault. Would also recommend a car as it is in a remote location. The beech is about an hour away and not difficult to get to if you don't mind the winding roads.
The staff are super friendly and helpful. Just a really lovely place to come for soaking up the sun in a wonderful atmosphere.

Good for couples, walkers and nature lovers

We had two fantastic weeks at ValKarana and could easily have stayed for two more. For us the ValKarana was pretty much perfect. The setting is fantastic and even better than the photos on the web show - its so quiet and serene.

The hotel was very quiet when we were there which was perfect for us. The location is great for walking and there are tracks the the lake, up to the hills and along the little-used scenic railway tracks - all of which we were totally alone on when walking. Relaxing by the pool was good as was the rest of the hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean which was very nice to see.

The food was very good, although note that you may need to pace yourselves as it is pretty much the same menu for lunch and dinner each day. That said it is a good selection and the pizzas (available on Thursday-Sunday) are really good ... I still lust after the Napoli pizza which was quite simply the best pizza I've ever had! I thought the food and wine was very reasonably priced too.

It was nice to be close to wildlife too and we had close encounters in the countryside with wild tortoises, praying mantises and even a little scorpion.

Finally Salvatore the crazy hotel manager - he simply made staying at the hotel so enjoyable, always available, always interested in his guests and always happy to chat if you were - a real gent and we miss him!

Great, quiet Hotel

This is a very remote location. The lake is actually a reservoir and was quite depleted during our visit. The hotel is in a lovely location, has pretty gardens and an excellent pool. The staff are polite, friendly and laid back. The whole place is very, very pleasant.

The Restaurant is excellent and the food and wine are great. They actually haven't developed the restaurant as much as they could so although it's always busy and the food is good it's a little lacking in atmosphere.

The location is very remote, you will definitely need a hire car. If you are into beaches, the coast is at least an hour's drive (but the drives are usually very beautiful).

I would say the hotel is best for couples wanting a quiet and relaxing break.

We had a great time and loved this Hotel, Sardinia and its people.

Tranquil little gem....

Little gem surrounded by stunning scenery and beautifully kept gardens. Rooms a decent size and cleaned daily. Pool well maintained and never too busy. Staff friendly and efficient...the owner Salvatore was on hand most days and offered a very personal service to guests. You absolutely need a hire car, and directions from the airport taken from the internet were easy to follow in daylight, but would be more difficult after dark. Air conditioning efficient and incurred no extra charge. Only criticism would be that it would have been nice to have tea making facilities in the room, and although we didn't have to pay on this occasion, there is an additional levy charged for using the mini bar fridge for you own drinks.

Breathtaking and Peaceful

We recently spent 7 nights at hotel Valkarana for the first week of our honeymoon and could not have asked for anything more!

The hotel is hidden away in a valley overlooking a huge lake, the views are amazing particulary from the restaurant and the scenary is breathtaking. It's so quiet and peaceful, we absolutely loved it. The location is perfect (although you need a car to get there via windy roads) and allowed us to visit lots of places and beaches around the north and east coasts, Olbia is only 30 mins away (once you know the way!) and it's only 40 mins away form Palua and the Maddalena islands both of which we highly recommend.

The atmosphere was very nice and relaxed. Salvatore (the owner of the hotel) was always happy to help and have a chat, he was more like a friend than the hotel owner!

We had a Premium room facing the lake and the pool and it was very nice, I definitely recommend it for the view alone!

The food was amazing, especially the pizzas although they only make pizza's Friday to Sunday, and breakfast was really nice. The bar is open all day and the prices are very reasonable as are the restaurant prices.

Overall we loved our stay at Hotel Valkarana, it was a peaceful luxury far away from everything whilst at the same time we were able to get around and explore in our little rented car. Hotel Valkarana gave us everything we wanted for the first week of our honeymoon and we hope that one day we will be back.

The hotel completely surpassed all expectations and helped to make this the best holiday to date.

It was exactly what we were looking for and more. The staff were wonderful - even helping us to tune our car radio - the complexities of which had utterly evaded us! We were given advice on sites to see and deals to take advantage of - I can recommend the boat trip to La Maddalena. The food was fantastic (try the ravioli and pizza - yum), our room was perfect and waking up to the lake and amazing views, the cherry on the already fabulous cake. We felt very much at home and welcomed at the same time as feeling like nothing was too much trouble.

I highly recommend staying at ValKarana - you won't be disappointed. They also make a very good Gin and Tonic. :-)

Quite, Beautiful, Great value.

This place is a real find if you like small, quiet and beautiful- stone built, tradional feel, really high quality, nicely decorated and kept in lush gardens overlooking a huge lake with amazing sunsets. The pool is fresh water (I guess from the lake below) so no chemically feeling, there was always plenty of space for all the guests and it's nearby, by car of course, to all the archaeological sites. It feels a bit like a religious retreat when you're at you own house, sitting looking out at the lake and with everyone talking in hushed voices but is lively and friendly in the bar and restaurant areas. The staff here were great, the food was the best. The beds were too hard for me - a pillow top option would have been nice - but as I realized, hard seems to be the norm in Sardinia

This is a lovely small hotel in a secluded location in the lovely countryside of Gallura overlooking a lake. This was our second visit, and we would happily return again. Salvatore (owner) and his staff are extremely friendly, and the food in the restaurant is excellent. Lovely swimming pool, and about 40 mins drive to great beaches.

We know it's gonna be amazon and still we are supprised!

The most beautiful view ever, the cleanest swiming poor ever, stuning rooms with spectacular views through huge clean glass doors. Cleanest air ever.
The hotel itself is a popular restaurant for local people, food is awesomely good, I love sea food pastas, the girl cried for the unbelievable taste of deserts. Best view ever. Prices are reasonable, 2 days staying, we only spend 50 euros per person for food.
The staff are most friendly, helpful and heartily. We followed the suggestion went to Palau for the day islands board trip, I just want to say Sardinia got the natural beauty unfairly to the rest of the world. We left our laptop in the room, when I called, as soon as they know who I am, before I could even explain everything, they say: do not worry, your computer is here safe, give us the address, we will send it to you. I almost cried out of thankfulness.
If I could I would like to stay there forever.

Fantastisch!Wunderschön, ruhig und erholsam .
Ein traumhafter Ort, um in völliger Stille zur Ruhe zu kommen. Das Hotel liegt in den Bergen, umgeben von herrlicher Natur, mit einem atemberaubenden Ausblick. Es ist absolut empfehlenswert und definitiv ein Ort, den man auf Sardinien besuchen sollte. In weniger als 30 Minuten erreicht man die schönsten Strände rund um Olbia und Porto Cervo. Das Personal ist äußerst freundlich und hilfsbereit, und die Küche bietet leckere, authentische Gerichte – mit viel Liebe zubereitet. Wir wünschen Ihnen alles Gute und weiterhin viele zufriedene Gäste!

Cependant nous avons eu un soucis dans notre salle de bain qui était infesté de vers dans le bois de la porte nous l’avons signalé à trois reprises et tout ce qui a été fait a été de mettre du spray pour éradiquer les insectes, le problème a persisté durant tout notre séjour, nous retrouvions des dizaines de vers étalés sur le sol de la salle de bain chaque jour, nous ne pouvions pas marcher pieds nus dans la salle de bain . Cela a gêné notre séjour dans cet hôtel et aucun dédommagement nous a été proposé

Hotel Valkarana er bestemt et besøg værd.

Vi boede der en uge i Juli 2024.
Hotellet ligger meget afsondret, der er blandt andet ikke noget telefon signal. Du skal derfor have en bil for at komme hertil
Men udsigten, maden, stemningen og omgivelserne er helt i top.
Personalet er super søde og servicen er første klasse.

Der var kun få ting.

Morgenmaden er i top, der er hvad der skal være, dog synes vi der manglede lidt brød, da det der var var noget tørt. Et man måske kunne skære nogle skiver fra og var lidt mere friskt

Frokosten og aftensmaden er det samme menukort. Der mangler lidt lette retter til frokosten i stedet for. Vi kørte ud og spiste en del, da, selvom maden er virkelig god, bliver ensformig hvis man har det samme at vælge imellem alle dage.
En anbefaling er i hvert fald at lave en lidt anden menu til frokost.

Vi vil ikke anbefale hotellet hvis man har børn med. Ikke fordi hotellet ikke tager imod dem, men fordi aktiviteterne for dem er meget begrænset. Der er godt wi-fi og en pool, men det er også det.

Når alt det er sagt, giver vi stadigvæk stedet 5 stjerner og vores anbefaling. Det er et virkelig godt og roligt hotel og kommer du til Sardinien er det her bestemt et sted du bør overveje at bo.

Das Hotel Valkarana liegt herrlich abgelegen am See Liscia, Nähe des Dörfchens Sant Antonio di Gallura. Wir haben die Ruhe und die Einsamkeit dort sehr genossen. Die ganze Anlage sowie die Zimmer sind sehr gepflegt, sauber und ordentlich. Sehr zu empfehlen ist es Halbpension zu buchen welche jeden Abend in Form eines 4Gänge Menüs serviert wird. Das Essen war wirklich extrem lecker und abwechslungsreich. Auch das ganze Personal war immer sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Aufgrund der abgelegenen Lage lohnt sich ein Mietwagen auf jeden Fall.

Un séjour parfait.

Merveilleux séjour à l’hôtel Valkarana emplacement idéal pour découvrir le nord de la Sardaigne et la Costa Smeralda.
L’hôtel est situé dans un endroit très calme en pleine nature. Les chambres sont calmes elles aussi.
Le personnel est très agréable et le petit déjeuner copieux et diversifié.
Je recommande vivement cet hôtel si vous devez séjourner dans le nord.

Lage und Ausblick traumhaft, Frühstück wirklich sehr gut (vor allem für italienische Verhältnisse), Zimmer schön.
Negativ: Auf dem Zimmer hängen Verhaltensregeln; man darf den Kühlschrank nicht für Eigenes benutzen, sonst wird es konfisziert. Es ist generell nicht gestattet, Lebensmittel von außerhalb mitzubringen und zu verzehren. Als wir am ersten Tag beim Frühstück den zweiten Cappuccino bestellen wollten, wurden wir vom Padrone darauf hingewiesen, dass der Zweite kostenpflichtig wäre. Normalen Kaffee gäbe es kostenfrei.(Aufgrund einer Beschwerde bei einer netten Kellnerin bekamen wir daraufhin in den nächsten Tagen den zweiten Cappuccino kostenfrei. Hinweis: Es soll sich um ein Viersternehaus in Italien handeln...da wird ja eigentlich nicht wenig Espresso bzw. Cappuccino getrunken!) Der Chef wirkte sehr kühl, persönliche Gespräche Fehlanzeige, das ist eigentlich dass, was wir an kleineren Hotels so lieben. Sehr nett war dagegen der Herr an der Rezeption, er hatte viele gute Tipps und Vorschläge und war sehr hilfsbereit. Wir sind das siebte Mal in Italien und das zweite Mal auf Sardinien und haben eigentlich immer viel Gastfreundschaft erfahren.
Insgesamt gibt einem der Verhaltenskodex auf dem Zimmer und die Cappuccinofrage ein ungutes Gefühl, der Wohlfühlcharakter hat diesbezüglich leider gefehlt.

Das Hotel ist sehr schön. Wir waren leider nur 2 Tage dort. Unser Zimmer war groß und es war alles sehr sauber. Der Pool und auch die gesamte Hotelanlage sind sehr gepflegt und schön.
Man hat dort absolute Ruhe. Das gesamte Team ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, mit Englisch und Deutsch konnten wir uns sehr gut verständigen. Das Abendessen hat uns ebenfalls sehr gut gefallen, es war alles sehr köstlich! Das Publikum war sehr gemischt, deutsche Familien, Niederländer, Belgier, Engländer... Sobere ruime kamers met tuinterras.

Séjour exceptionnel dans un environnement magique

Nos vacances ont été exceptionnelles à l'hôtel Valkarana. Notre arrivée, quelque peu tardive, n'a pas dérangé l'équipe de l'hôtel que nous avions prévenu plus tôt dans notre demande de réservation. Même si l'hôtel semble un peu éloigné de la ville, la route est en parfait état et il est très facile d'y accéder. Il est cependant dans un petit havre de paix, encore plus beau que sur les photos, et encore plus calme. Le premier soir, nous avons pu dîner au restaurant de l'hôtel (il faut réserver à la réception habituellement), un merveilleux menu de plats typiques. Tellement bons que nous avons décidé de revenir au restaurant de l'hôtel plusieurs fois pendant notre séjour, malgré les très bons agriturismo autour. Les petits déjeuners, inclus, offrent un choix tout à fait correct (oeufs, charcuterie, céréales, confitures, jus, cafés...) et nous avons pu petit déjeuner sur la terrasse dès le troisième jour de séjour.
La chambre est simple, très propre, et l'équipe de l'hôtel a répondu à tous nos besoins lorsque nous avons demandé de nouvelles couvertures (nous ne souhaitions pas utiliser le chauffage par respect de l'environnement). Les lits sont fermes, très grands et donc parfaits pour ne pas avoir mal au dos.
Je ne peux que recommander cet hôtel, pour sa beauté, la gentillesse et l'efficacité des équipes ainsi que leur accompagnement durant notre séjour. Encore merci !
