The room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was good, but I felt it was over priced. The fresh mozzarella was amazingly fresh and delicious. The staff were helpful, but not always available at the front desk. My stay was for 2 nights. Location was convenient.

Apartment was very comfortable and clean and a decent size for two of us sharing. It was nice to have a table inside to sit at. The only very small thing, was there didn't seem to be a working air vent in the bathroom so it got quite steamy, but we just kept the door open after a shower.

Far from perfect but Nice, if not very expensive, hotel with helpful staff, if you can find them. Front desk often unmanned.

Lights in suite were faulty. Apparently repaired on day 2 but still faulty so both nights unable to have ambient lighting. Poor given huge price paid.

Bathroom smelled of drains. No slippers in suite despite advertised and rubbish initial offering of tea/coffee for 2 people (e.g. 1 tea bag). Rectified but surely we dont have to ask at this price point?

Hotel is in a good location. It is in a quiet street within 10 minutes of the main square. The room was clean, good size and bed was very comfortable. It had toiletries, bathrobes, slippers, fridge and coffee machine. We did not eat in the hotel so cannot make any comment on the food. Parking (€25 per day) is more expensive than local car parks but it’s onsite, convenient and well spaced. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. I would certainly stay here again.

Lovely hotel - would stay again

The hotel was lovely in a really good location easy to walk everywhere you need to. Pictures don’t do the beauty of the garden justice! Hotel is lovely and parking nearby at Katelijne is reasonable too. Great stay, would stay here again in Bruges. Pic of the view from our room attached. Lovely little hotel in a good location.

The hotel was very nice, very clean and the location was just a few minutes walk from local souvenir shops and around 10 minutes to the centre of Bruges. Beds were very comfy with loads of pillows and they even have some English TV channels. Only slight issue for my friends was there was no kettle in the room, but this didn't bother me.

What a lovely little hotel. We stayed at the back overlooking the landscaped gardens. You wouldn’t know you that you were in the city of Bruges. Warm welcome and a good breakfast in a very modern dining room. I would definitely aim for this hotel again. Christmas shopping in Bruges here we come !!

Lovely hotel, I was impressed by the room size and the service was very friendly.
Coffee & tea was served in the restaurant during the day, which meant there wasn't a kettle in the room. This was a little inconvenient, especially for us as we have a baby and needed hot water for bottles etc. That's my only quibble though. Otherwise a very smart hotel with a lovely restaurant and great breakfast

Double room was a huge disappointment

The rooms for the Hotel are completely seperate outside the Hotel itself.
We had booked a standard double room and it was tiny. We barely had any room. The bathroom door opened up and would hit the double bed.
The steam off the bathroom set off the smoke alarm and the manager came up to enquire. Which was fine. But annoying at the same time because we just wanted the privacy. The room was that small.
There was no air con or Windows that we could open in the room so it got very stuffy at night.
On our arrival, we were literally given the key and then left to it. Nothing was mentioned about check out time, what was on offer etc.
We found out that breakfast per person was an extortionate price of €18 per person, which we obviously didn't go near.
The Hotel itself looked to be kept very clean but overall the only thing we found great was the location. It was a 10 minute walk from everything.
Even though we didn't spend much time in our room (because we were out and kept busy), we found the time we DID spend was hindering because it was that small. Too squashed.
Bruges was a beautiful place and we will definitely go back. Just to a different Hotel next time.

Bar area and garden area is lovely. Rooms are a bit small but some have a balcony and chair to sit on which was a lovely touch. Didn't try breakfast so can't comment on that.

Perfect hotel-- wish it had AC!

The hotel was very comfortable-- we had a suite which was spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable, and the hotel was beautiful. Sadly, we came during a really intense heat wave, and as there was no air conditioning, the room reached uncomfortable temperatures. Apperantly Belgium experiences heat like that once in a blue moon, so the whole town is unprepared to accommodate such temperatures. It's sad, because the hotel was lovely and I think we would have been able to enjoy it much more without the heat! Alas. I would recommend staying here-- but check the weather report first :)

Convenient to the city center

We stayed in this hotel for three nights on a recent jaunt to Bruges. The hotel itself is nice, as is the restaurant (which was kind enough to stay open late for us as we arrived on a late train from Paris). The room was a touch weirdly set up, but that's likely due to the fact that we wound up in the ground-floor, handicap-access room. We'd definitely stay again, though we'd probably ask for a different room the next time.

If you're coming in via rail, it's a quick 15 or so minute hike from the station.

lovely hotel but we found the biggest let down was the fact there was no kettle or coffe/tea to make drinks. big let down. the rest good, big rooms and bathrooms. found it quite noisy as there was traffic along that road from early morning. we were on the 1st and 2nd floor. rooms arre nicely furnished and comfortable.

dont bother ordering breakfast in bed, they offer that but its v expensive. just wonder out and within 3-4 mins there's a v good coffee place nearby. brugge is a v pretty and pleasant city. disappointed most of the shops close quite early especially the coffee places.

overall hotel was good but i don't think we'll come back to it. good experience.

Hotel booked via Expedia online and immediately thought Hotel Montanus looked ideal as in comfort,bedrooms,peaceful gardens with water sculptures and beautiful restaurant. We had breakfast everyday which was excellent range of hot and cold. Sadly didn't take time for dinner as we wandered far so ate in town. Staff are so mannerly along with the hard working domestics.Truly a memorable stay and will be booking here next trip.

This hotel has an excellent central location within 10 minutes walk of the major attractions, but in a quiet back-street with it's own lovely garden with water feature, seating and restaurant. The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, providing local information and service. On request, we we're provided with an excellent cot-bed for our daughter which she loved.

We made use of a close-by underground car park which was reasonably priced for 24 hours.

We enjoyed our stay in Bruges we found the people very helpful and friendly , we found parking close by at Novotel hotel car park ( shown by a Bruges resident who took us their ) hotel was good , but our room was very warm could of done with being able to open windows , tea & coffee facility in bedroom would have been good , no wifi in bedroom . But we would definitely return to Bruges excellent restaurants and a sociable place to spend a couple of days .

This hotel is only a 10 minute walk from centre, but in the nearby streets there is plenty of shops, all one needs. The hotel can only be described as beautiful. We were given a garden room which was ready for us early (without extra charge). Our room was clean, comfortable but there were a couple of downers. The mini bar didn't work (warm drinks) and also the safe in the room didn't work ( however they kindly held our passports at front desk for us). We didn't eat breakfast at the hotel as it was 18 euro each - which seemed a bit much - but there are loads of places nearby where you can get a coffee and croissant / waffle etc.

The hotel is perhaps 5 minutes away from anything exciting but that means it's ever so quiet and peaceful. The staff are very attentive and the beds in particular are extremely comfortable. The garden and patio area were a very welcome feature and made for an even more pleasant stay. I wouldn't hesitate in staying here again - HIGHLY recommended.

Don't be fooled by the 4 star rating of this hotel. The beds sagged like sway back horses, the room was grim -- dark brown walls, brown carpet, with abundant house flies for accent. The room was above the courtyard, which billowed with smoke from smokers, so I am not sure how the mosquitoes survived. But so they did, dining heartily on me and my daughters. The reception area was ornamented with a giant bell -- actually everyone had to use this multiple times to drag forth a member of the surly staff.

Beautiful hotel with gorgeous garden.

I would absolutely recommend any of my friends stay here. Me and my partner got a room for only £60 a night (plus city tax) and could not believe how beautiful the place was when we arrived. We stayed in one of the standard rooms in the garden (the reception, bar etc is at the front facing the road and the rooms are through a scenic garden towards the back- so it's very peaceful.) Our stay was very comfy and the facilities were brilliant. The only thing the room lacked was wifi. I would book here again if I return to Bruges.

Very good place to stay in Bruges

Good location - just outside the tourist section but 10 minutes gets you into the centre (Markt, Burg etc.). So its quiet. Car parking is convenient - 100 yards underground at the Novotel - and not too expensive (€9 per day). Hotel is as advertised - very pleasant. Breakfast not cheap but you can fill your boots. Bruges is a tourist trap; so if you can, come mid week and not immediately before Christmas. Even with 1,000 restaurants (and good value in our experience) booking ahead is essential at busy periods. Good buys; chocolate, lace, beer. The Flemings will size you up and address you in the appropriate language.

It's classy, comfortable, well run, friendly, central, easy to find and spacious. Also, importantly, the hot water is hot; the shower has sufficent flow and the bath is deep. The view from the second floor, streetside rooms is worth a photo. Breakfast is superlative.

Excellent location in the edge of central historical area of Bruges.
Helpful staff.
The hotel is generally well kept. Overall style is better than a business hotel but not quite as good as a boutique or hip hotel.
The sitting room is small but the garden area provides lots of space in good weather.
The restaurant does a good continental buffet breakfast. It is also open for lunch and dinner but was not open for dinner when we stayed there.
We had a big, clean bedroom with large bathroom in the main house. There are also some nice looking rooms at the end of the garden.
Car parking right next door costs 15 Euros a day. Parking is very restricted in Bruges so this is good if you come by car.

Very pleasant stay in Brugge.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights with our 2-year-old daughter. Our room was great, large and quiet, with a nice little trundle bed for her. Even though our room was facing the street, it was nearly silent with the windows closed (though we kept them open during the day for the fresh air). The rest of the hotel is lovely, with a comfortable sitting room and great little garden (the pond has goldfish, another win for our toddler). The main Market Square was a pleasant 5-10 minute walk away, but the chocolate/gift shops begin just around the corner on Mariastraat. A small word of advice for other families traveling to Brugge: very few shops are open after 6pm, and few restaurants are open 7 days a week. If you have specific food requirements (we're vegetarian), you may want to check in advance that the places you plan to eat are going to be open!

What a find!

This hotel was amazing! It made our stay in Brugge so much more. The staff- particularily Simon, were fantastic. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the hotel updated and modern, complimentary tea and coffee as well as a great location. I would highly recommend this hotel and Brugge as a city- we had a fabulous time and encourage others to visit this little gem.

I would definitely recommend this hotel. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. They went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. We felt like being in a boutique hotel. The Breakfast was really nice and the garden is gorgeous. Our son enjoyed watching the fishes every time we walked pass the pond. Our room was comfortable and had everything you would need but maybe not quite the luxury you would expect for a 4* hotel, saying that I would go back to this hotel next time I visit Bruges as I really value the service we received and the rest of the hotel is at a very high standard.

Good hotel, accommodating for a family

Large rooms which are good if you are travelling with a child. They put a spare bed for out toddler and there was still plenty of room. The design and decor of the rooms is nice. Our mattresses were a little uncomfortable - they were lower on one side. Other than that, the rooms were great.

The staff said we were welcome to eat in the restaurant in the evening with our 2 year old. However, it was full with adults and a bit formal (in a nice way), so we didn't eat there for dinner. For 5 Euros extra we could order room service from the full restaurant menu (one dish was great, one not so great).

The breakfast is a bit expensive (18 Euros each), but very good. Lots of nice cheeses, eggs cooked to order, cereals etc.

The location is fairly good. It's not right in the very historical part of Bruges or by the canals. However, you only have to walk 2-3 minutes and you're in the very historical parts. And, the street the hotel is nice (i.e. not very modern).

There is a car park next door to the hotel, which is very handy. However, make sure you have cash to pay as the credit card machine didn't work and the hotel wouldn't change money or allow us to buy cash with a credit card. The only cash machines are 15-20 minutes walk away in the centre of the town.

Hotel staff were very helpful and they tried to accomodate all requests. They do allow pets so keep this in mind when requesting a room. Complaints are the sheets were linen so could be itchy and the towels although clean would have stains not removed, Would I recommend yes.

Loved the garden - perfect for relaxing between sight-seeing and close enough to come back to for the free tea and coffee. The breakfast was overpriced and the decor was more aesthetic than functional in some respects (the bath taps being hard to reach. fr example) but overall a very nice quirky hotel.

Super hotel with beautiful gardens and very conveniently situated for the attractions.
A few items to grumble about which would have made my score a 5 instead of 4:
1. Upon check in they insist on you producing the confirmation from Hotels.com - I didn't take mine as I've never had to on the previous bookings I have made which caused quite a delay. Their paperwork processing needs an overhaul as they should accept electronic communications and why they have to hand write receipts when they have just printed an invoice for me I have no idea - just slows everything down.
2. Our room was not available until 3pm instead of 2pm as per the hotels.com information.
3. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room and the 'free' tea and coffee is only available from 11am until 6pm - this is the time when we are out doing touristy things so not particularly helpful.

On a postive note, they gave us a very handy map and discount card upon check-in. This saved us a few cents.

Montanus - Bruges: stylish and good location

The Hotel Montanus is clean, sophististicated and well-appointed, The staff are professional, efficient and friendly as well as competent in many European languages. Parking is available for a fee which is hard to come by in Bruges. Good location for walking in the old town but also near to bus routes and the ring-road and tourist information. No tea/coffee making facilities in the room but tea and coffee available free of charge in the lounge until 6pm. A comfortable stay - thankyou.

we had a wonderful stay at Montanus and found the staff friendly and helpful, the room immaculate and the location quiet and ideal. The only disappointment was that the queen bed was actually two singles pushed together. Otherwise all was great.

A lovely hotel. The staff were friendly, attentive and helpful, the hotel itself was well appointed and spotlessly clean, the location was excellent - close to the tourist spots, but nestled in a quiet side road and the garden area was beautiful. I'd be happy to go back or to recommend it to others.

Montanus Hotel Bruges

This small hotel is a wonderful find in the beautiful city of Bruges. It is close enough(5/6min walk) to all the sights but far enough away from any night time noise! All the facilities were excellent with spacious room and comfortable beds. The only problem was the height of the shower head which made showering very awkward. Would like to return in warmer weather to take advantage of the lovely gardens. Beautiful chic interiors and a good breakfast. An extra bonus is the large car park at very reasonable rates. We would highly recommend this hotel.

Beautiful garden-- comfortable, sharp room

We enjoyed our stay very much at The Montanus--the staff was super friendly and helped us with dinner reservations. The hotel is in a very quiet neighborhood but an easy 10 minute walk from the center of town. The room was bright and the furnishings were sharp. The garden was large and beautiful and a perfect place for a quiet afternoon glass of wine. Additionally we got great value on our booking through expedia. We would highly recommend the hotel and would definitely stay there again.

Excellent Garden rooms

Recently stayed in a Garden room - was clean, spacious, modern (a bit different in a good way) and quite. Enjoyed sitting in the garden with the complimentary coffee & biscuits -a sun trap! The staff were friendly and the hotel a short walk to the market place (5 minutes). Would definitely recommend to family and friends!

An sich ein schönes Hotel in optimaler Lage zur Erkundung der Innenstadt. Leider entsprach das Zimmer (Junior Suite mit Gartenblick, #17) nicht dem Preis. Ich mag an sich Minimalismus, aber wenn es schon an den Basics mangelt (Mülleimer in jedem Zimmer, Klobürste, aufgefüllte Lotion) hört das Verständnis auf. #Preis/Leistung.
Das war das erste Hotel in meinem Leben, wo es keine Tür zum Badezimmer gab. Vom Klo konnte man daher wunderbar ins Wohnzimmer schauen und umgedreht. Leider war das Zimmer auch sehr hellhörig, da oben drüber noch ein Zimmer war und man jeden Schritt gehört hat, leider bis spät in die Nacht. Das lag aber an den Gästen.

Fazit. Wenn ich in eine Suite investiere, erwarte ich einen gewissen Standard und erholsame Nächte. Das war leider nicht der Fall, aber die Stadt ist einfach wunderschön und hat somit die Nachteile aufgewogen.

Un week-end prolongé exceptionnel

Nous avons passé un excellent séjour à Bruges.
L’hôtel était parfait, un lieu raffiné à la décoration sublime.
La chambre était spacieuse, parfaitement équipée avec une très belle vue.
De plus, il est parfaitement situé, au cœur de la ville ce qui permet un accès facile à tous les endroits à visiter.
Le charme de cet hôtel nous a vraiment impressionné ! Nous reviendrons sans aucune once d’hésitation.

Insgesamt hatten wir einen recht guten Aufenthalt im Hotel. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Was wir nicht verstehen konnten war, warum mit schallisolierten Zimmern geworben wird, denn das ist völliger Humbug. Das Zimmer ist extem hellhörig. Fernseher und nächtliches Schnarchen anderer angrenzender Zimmer war deutlich zu hören und alles, was auf dem Flur gesprochen wurde war Wort für Wort zu hören. Anders als andere Hotels ist der Kaffee in der Minibar nicht umsonst, sondern wird pro verbrauchter Kapsel mit völlig überzogenen Preisen abgerechnet. Wir haben daher keinen Kaffee getrunken. Auch die Flasche Wasser die standardmäßig in anderen Hotels umsonst ist, hätte dort mit 9€ das Konto belastet. Unser Abfluss des Waschbeckens war komplett verstopft, was tatsächlich auch behoben wurde, nachdem wir zwei Mal darauf hingewiesen haben. Vielen Dank! Leider war das Zimmer extremst staubig und der Teppichboden vermutlich seit langem nicht mehr gesaugt worden. Dort waren etliche Krümel und Partikel sichtbar. Allergiker sollten hier wirklich sehr vorsichtig sein. Ansonsten hatten wir einen sehr angenehmen aufenthalt. Die Matratzen waren zwar durchgelegen aber trotzdem noch bequem, die Klimaanlage funktionierte perfekt und die Dusche war sehr gut.

Séjour parfait dans un hôtel idéalement situé en cœur de ville tout en prenant place dans un joli jardin véritable havre de paix. Petit déjeuner un peu onéreux mais fantastique. Nous recommandons vivement cet hôtel qui bénéficie également d’un parking à réserver en amont.
