My husband and I prefer the smaller motels over big chains. I like this place very much. No complaints. The room was very clean. Bathroom was totally spotless. All linens were decent quality with no stains. Having lived in this area the least 5 years I know how hard they have worked to update this motel. Room was tastefully appointed. Recently paint. Nice floors. Working appliances. The bed was great. Other guests were here to ice fish and were quiet and personable. The area seems very quiet. I came outside dozens of time to smoke and nary a peep. HIGH MENTION: super friendly proprietor. Excellent wifi (I was on Zoom all day for school). Pillows were outstanding. Didn’t have that typical motel scent. It was Very fresh. The mattress was outstanding. I travel a lot and you can usually expect a motel to have basic quality. This mattress was luxurious. Finally-the remotes worked fine. IYKYK.

The room was old and musty. I felt ill and had to leave. I asked for a refund, but I was told I had to go through Expedia. Since they wouldn't give me a refund for the first two days my grandson stayed, but he felt it uncomfortable as well. I was told that the third day would be reimbursed by Expedia, but so far nothing has happened.

Worst motel experience ever.
They don't make the beds, don't change the towels. Wi Fi is worthless. It smells damp and there are molds everywhere and on the last day we saw some cockroaches.
It's in the motel I think, in the cottages it's better but I doubt it. I think it's the Pakis who own the cottages.
It's too expensive for the quality. We took this motal because the other hotels couldn't accommodate us for two nights. Sorry but we won't be caught again.

Charming place right on the lake

Great space right in the lake! Owners are friendly and knowledgeable. Cottages are currently being upgraded and they are looking great. Quiet place to stay with a sandy beach and shallow water. Definitely returning

I cannot say enough good things about this place, the owner/manager was so welcoming and friendly… The rooms were comfortable, clean and quiet- I brought my dog along with me, every time any of the staff saw us outside together they always said hi to her- this place is absolutely wonderful, I would highly recommend it to anyone

The position of the property was excellent. Though the cabin itself was a little tired and dated, and could do with an air conditioner, the staff were super friendly. The owners have only had this location for a couple years, and are starting to work their way through the huge task of renovations. The location is absolutely fabulous, which is what sold this location for me in the first place. I am willing to put up with a dated cabin, and will be back time and time again, and look forward to the improvements as each year goes by. Owner has wood to sell, fire pits for every cabin/cottage, gas with the BBQ's, linens and towels and a well equipped kitchenette. Linens were freshly laundered, and staff were super helpful. Our stay was great, if you are looking for a stay that is a little different I would recommend it. The hire of the canoe was the highlight of our trip as we paddled over to the island yesterday, and sat at the fire last night, made the end of our trip just perfect. Thank you so much, see you in a couple weeks. psst if you are an early riser, don't tell everyone, however the Blue Heron is at the duck pond at sunrise, however we have to be super quiet and early to see it. The owners are very attentive and are working hard to update this property. While the cabins are old there is a certain charm to their quirkiness. Our bed was very comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed. While there is no air conditioning, the cool breezes from the lake cooled the cabin nicely each night and we slept well. The lake is warm and shallow, perfect for kids and adults alike and the small beach is private. The location is close to shopping, grocery stores, a farmers market, miniputt and a movie theatre. This was our second year here and we will go back again!

This is a no thrill “in-transit” motel needing some updating. I am not sure if I would want to stay more than a night there.

Pros:
The room is very clean.
Bed was comfy.
Reception person was polite and check in process was ok.
The price is great.
There is a small beach and canoe rentals on site if that’s your thing. (We did not use neither)

Con:
No blackout curtains - the parking lot is well lit and the room window faces the parking lot. We threw our towels over to cover some of the light coming in.
There is a window curtain in the bathroom shower… I kept elbowing it when showering.
No air conditioning (but it’s not too hot the night we stayed so it’s not a big deal). If you keep your window open it might be a bit loud as the motel is on a main road.
Some of the furniture and room was dated / damaged.

Overall it’s ok.

The bed was great - comfy and clean with enough pillows. There was significant water damage on the floor of the washroom and water on the floor near the bed. It needs a really good renovation. No air conditioning either, but it seemed okay as long as the fan was on and the window open. The shower head was held together with electrical tape and only shot a small stream of water out. No soap at all was present so we were not able to sanitize our hands.

This little place is a diamond in the rough. I had low expectations based on the price and other reviews however I was pleasantly surprised by how incredibly clean our cabin was and the beach and property are well maintained and quite frankly amazing. If you can get past the fact that these are older cottages and that the towels don't match and the cutlery and dishes are very random, you will find a place that is tranquil, homey and fun. Don't let the lack of air conditioning frighten you off. The nights are cool in northern Ontario and the breezes from the lake meant we were cuddled under a blanket during the night. A nice big fan was provided to keep the air circulating and the cabin comfortable during the day. There are a few large trees near the beach for those shady reading days and the water was warm and perfect for swimming. Because it is a shallow lake, the area is perfect for children. The new owners are working on upgrading things and I'm sure that in another year, the little things we noticed will have been changed. We had a great, relaxing time and I recommend this place for those who want a laid-back and quirky vacation.

The receptionist is lovely. The location is good enough it has a private small beach where you can go for a swim and spend the whole day enjoying its amazing view, but the condition of the cottage isn't what i expected... however it has picnic area and bbq which is a plus

NEVER EVER AGAIN

Though the price was low, it will never be low enough for this property. Looks like possibly new owners that bought a money pit as renevations are ongoing...lovely fine dust all over my car in the morning dust parking lot as there is a thin strip of asphalt in front of the motel rooms, enough to oark on...the rest is a fine dust...not even gravel. Get to wake up to the lovely humming of a chainsaw? Lokk out the window and a construction worker is walking across the parking lot revving a chainsaw??
Very cramped room, beds both sloping to one side so you feel like your going to slide onto the floor? Curtain on a small window directly over the pillow was about 8 inches from the wall so around 4:50AM awakened with the sun shining in my face?? No place to hide??

There was a disgusting moldy smell when I walked in which the manager said was because the room hadn't been opened! The water in the shower turned ice cold halfway through then I could only get scalding hot water. No electrical outlet in bathroom and most others didn't work. No remote for TV only cable. I had to get manager to turn on TV. Overall yucky experience.

Very rustic, basic, looks like furniture came from a rummage sale. Couple tiny bars of soap, no shampoo, no facial tissue. Clean enough, bed was fairly comfortable. No a/c. Noisy ceiling fan. A bit pricey considering the condition and offerings.

Must be as quiet at the mice that live there.

The cottages are nicely situated on the lake with an amazing view and the grounds were well maintained, unfortunately this is the only positive thing I could say about the place. The cottages were run down and a bit sketchy but that wasn't the worst part. The staff were constantly on our case telling us that we had to be inside after 9pm and that there was to be absolutely no music outside. This included the middle of the afternoon at a level you can have a normal conversation over. After the 3rd time they complained about our behaviour I asked if any of the guests complained which they had not. After the 4th time they gave me a hard time I told him we would not be back to which he replied that he didn't need clients like us. This common from a business that is on the lake relatively reasonably priced but I was still able to book multiple cottages less than a week out in the middle of a hot july. If you read this and book a room, I hope you have a better experience.
