This was a last minute booking in Courtrai/Kortrijk thanks to the French General Strike which necessitated leaving the country earlier than planned. The name doesn't give anything away nor does the building itself, situated after walking through a covered car park. One would glean from the information that it is some kind of wellness retreat though as it was just a one night stay, I cannot comment on those elements.

The double room was very large, clean and tidy with offer and tea making facilities but with a number of apparent contradictions.

The huge and inviting double bed turned out to be two separate mattresses which, unfortunately, opened up a gap when sleeping in the middle of the bed

The bathroom was equipped with a good effective shower with some really excellent shampoo/body wash from Sweden. Head to the sink though and it is a different story - just one of those nasty cheap pieces of soap pre-wrapped in plastic. What a contrast!

Breakfast was not included but apparently 2 versions are available, French and Flemish. At 19€ for the latter, you would expect a sumptuous buffet of local delicacies but I gave up on that when I was informed that included 3 slices of bread... Clearly not a buffet.

In the room is a huge display which I initially took to be a TV - great for watching from the bed. Not so - it was just a photo of something non-descriptive. The TV itself was the smallest I have seen in any hotel room and completely unwatchable from the bed.

Quirky hotel and nice beds.

Generally a decent hotel. I was staying with friends for a weekend cycling trip away so didn’t spend much time in the room. The major issue was the room I had ‘room 4’ the heating was broken and couldn’t be turned off. I called reception twice to sort but nothing happened. I was told to open the windows. TV only had children’s channels and 1 of the lounge chairs in the room didn’t have a cushion. Bit underwhelming. Didn’t see any breakfast as I was up and out early each day. Bed was comfy however so would have slept if the room wasn’t 28-30 degrees at night :(

Promised a lot, delivered little

The hotel definitely does not live up to the pictures on the web.

In a three day stay, we had no air conditioning, was promised a room with a bath we didn't get, you couldn't open the windows properly which is a fire hazard, and one window had no mosquito net. All not usually a problem (apart from the fire hazard) if the owner hadn't have had the heating on in the spa, creating an oven in the rest of the hotel on nights when it averaged 25 deg C outside.

He had clearly tried to address previous comments on here about missing bedside tables, but the footstools he had put in were so low and angled they were more of a hinderance.

With just a small attention to the details this could be a much nicer place to stay, but it is so unloved and the owner so surly, that it just would be never some where to go back to.

Please note the spa is not free, parking isn't free.

I stayed 11 days in Kortrijk and decided to stay the last 4 night with my wife in more nice hotel with option of spa. Was a little disappointed. Our room need attention and no information about spa in English and no one seems to mind showing us arround or tell us about possibilities in Spa. I will find some other hotel for next time. I would love to have being noticed as it should be in 4 star hotel and enjoy what they have to offer. Did not went to spa so I can not say if it is ok or not. Breakfast not for me since I try to avoid bread.

The place is so hidden that it is difficult to walk to from the train because the taxi drivers will not take you there. The place is run down, and the staff is indifferent. The room was dirty. You basically open the door and you run into the bed. It is a horrible place. The food was basic and expensive at the restaurant. They branded the resort as a retreat, but it is more like a nightmare. I will not be back, and I will go out of my way to tell people not to stay there. Horrible!!!

The restaurant is good but expansive for what is the plate.

Promised so much. Delivered so little.

I wrote a review explaining just how bad our experience was, but it was over 1500 words to really sum up all the bad points.
Briefly:
Lousy location down a badly maintained road next to the railway tracks. Looks like a derelict industrial site. Poorly maintained exterior - peeling paint, weeds, unloved plants.
Disinterested staff. Rip off breakfast (€19 each!). Charge to use pool / spa (€34 each!)
Impractical, uncomfortable furniture in room.
NO AIR CON
No atmosphere, no comfort.
Probably great for masochists, ascetics, special forces stag nights looking for something to keep up their training.

A hidden Gen in Kortijk

I stayed at Wu Wei by accident, one of the few hotels that had two rooms free at short notice. A very relaxing atmosphere with an unexpectedly nice sauna / spa and amazing pool area! I stay in Kortrijk a few times a year and will definitely be staying here from now on.

Service was great, friendly, polite and efficient. Rooms were enormous and very clean. Hotel is about a 10 to 15 minute walk to the town centre but only 5 minutes from the station. A great place to explore surrounding area of Belgium with most towns like Ypres only 15/25 minutes away by car on the freeways and very easy to get to. Decor and layout of the hotel is different from most hotels but a great place to stay. Also you can use (for a price) the health spa on site. Dinner at the restaurant is first rate but breakfast is very expensive for what's on offer.

Nice moder hotel spa

This is my second stay at Wu Wei since they opened few years ago. Minimalist, spacious and comfortable room, but a bit noisy. I could hear people walking in the hallway. Excellent wifi connection in the room. The access to the spa after traveling all day was awesome. They also improved the hammam (steam bath), but still need a bit more sanitization. All the rest of the spa is very nice. Love the roof top hot tub and sauna. I didn't had the breakfast included and ended out costing 19euro which I found a bit excessive for breakfast. Though I totally recommend having dinner there.

The worst part is the payment issue. I’ve been using Expedia for years and always pay in advance to get the refund insurance in case of cancellation.
Yes, I was late at the check-in: midnight against 21:30 at the latest normally.
The owner says I have yet to pay. I say I doubt it, that I always pay in advance and I want to check on my mobile my recipes. It my 5th hotel in 7 days in my business trip, yeah give me a minute to find it. He immediately yells at me, takes away room’s key and says I have to leave now.
While he walks me to the parking, I finally find the Hotels.com mail saying I have to pay at the arrival. I say my bad and he finally gives me the key. Yet, no sorry from his part for yelling or threating me that way. I asked him while he was yelling why he was threatening me: I am still pending of his answer.
If he ever reads this: sir, you work in hospitality. This attitude is purely professional. Plus, your lack of maturity for not saying sorry is too much.

Accommodation part : the bed was completely uneven between the two mattresses; one’s side was higher and more off-center than the other.
Also, the curtains let in a lot of light—a lot of light because of the building across the alley from Room 13. The walls let in all the noise; it’s like having a silver-colored person right next to you. At 2 a.m., the toilet made a huge splashing noise—even with the door closed and earplugs in, I could still hear it.
Breakfast was nice.

Very calm location. Nice individual served breakfast.
Helpful and friendly staff. Only downside was that perhaps the hotel has already seen its glory days and is in need of a little TLC. Unfortunately we didn’t have time to use the pool and spa facilities. We forgot a personal item on the room and they were very helpful with sending it to us and for that we are ever grateful.
All in all, a pleasant stay.

Ons verblijf was prima. We hebben lekker geslapen en werden vriendelijk ontvangen. Het zwembad was in onderhoud. Dat was niet van te voren gemeld waardoor ik pas, toen ik in het zwembad aan het zwemmen was, werd verzocht het zwembad te verlaten.

Het is een mooi concept. De kamers zijn zeer mooi maar hier en daar moeten er mss toch wat kleine opfrissingswerken gebeuren. (vb onderste rand in douche was los). Het wellness gedeelte is heel mooi ingericht met alles erop en eraan. Het eten ook zeer lekker.
