The room was clean and well equipped. We had a great view of Georgetown. The restaurant and bar were good value and had a wide selection of meals/drinks.
The gym was a good size and had plenty of machines/equipment for upper or lower body exercise and cardio workouts.
Would definitely stay there again.

The staff was amazing. From front desk, to housekeeping, to restaurant staff plus engineering. Your staff are very well trained and courteous. They made my stay 100 times better.
The only complaint that i had was the AC in the room was not cooling so it was hot for 3/5 days that i was there. Other than that i had a very pleasant stay. Will definitely return to this hotel.

I stayed at the Marriott Guyana for 4 nights. After traveling for 14 hours from Los Angeles, I was grateful for the quick and easy check in. The room was spacious and clean. Marriott typically delivers in all aspects and this location is no exception. The true value of this particular hotel lies in its staff though. I can’t sing their praises enough - the gentleman taxi driver, Anthony at the front desk and Alicia C & Amanda Wong in dining provided top tier customer service. Those are just a few of the names I remember of an entire staff of some of the friendliest and most accommodating people I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. This is the most comfortable I’ve ever been abroad. I’m already making arrangements to come back.

Several weaknesses prevent an excellent review. Staff understanding of processes and procedures related to the restaurant are inconsistent. Sometimes they insist that you sign for your free breakfast and sometimes they don’t. This is complicated by the fact that the waiters often disappeared after initial service. Additionally, room doors were difficult to open and often took several tries. Hotel staff explained the locks were new, but forced guests to deal with the problem.

For this to be considered one of the best hotels in Georgetown there’s a few things that lacked. The water didn’t get too hot just warm enough to handle your business. Upon entering the room I noticed the curtains were mangled and shredded idk what that was about. Perhaps change out damage property. The group around bathroom sink needed redoing. The ice machine on my floor flooded the small room off the side of the corridor it was attached to. The “cooler” in the room smelled like it was breaking down and food from prior storage still lingered. The food there was amazing drinks were ok. Pool stayed cleaned and checked frequently for any debris.

Disappointing 4star hotel

As a Marriott member, I was extremely disappointed in the room. I paid $500 a night and it was below standard. I had my 4yr old son with me. I rented a room at Marriott for convenience and comfortability for my toddler. Netflix did not work ..pop up message saying internet was not available. The pool was dirty. The restaurant staff was AWFUL. Beyond slow and did not come over when i called her off twice. I had to raise my voice and ask if i can order food for my child..and her response was ..where did you get your drinks? I said i was staying at the hotel and these drinks are from the lobby bar. She was rude and hesitated to take my order for my son. I asked again if she can put in the order and I won't order anything. I just wanted my child to eat. She reluctantly took the order and it came 25min later. In addition when checking out ..I asked if $500 was a standard rate or did they raise it due to Christmas season. Reception said it's standard rate however local residents get the room for $299 a night. My mom who paid for the room and had her ID to prove she was a local resident of Guyana didn't get the $299 rate. To sum it up...don't waste your time staying here.....The service was terrible, the food was terrible, the pool was awful, the drinks were dreadful. the staff in the restaurant were slow and downright rude. No one came to our room to fix the tv - Netflix. I called 3times and no one came. Worst Marriott experience ever.

Only reason to come to this hotel is because it's the only business travel friendly hotel in the region. The service is terrible. The food is just ok. They nickle and dime you at every opportunity. It's way overpriced and will soon get a wakeup call when the competition ramps up.

The property and rooms are showing age with little or no upgrades. Tiles are chipped, wood in elevator stuck with adhesive, prints on the walls beyond faded like a cheap hotel, wheels on sliding bathroom door rough and sticking.
Service at restaurant really poor. Buffet managed badly with several things running out and no staff caring to check and replenish items…. However restaurant staff are overly eager to bring you the bill way before even close to finishing the meal

For $600 per night, this is a big rip off. The hotel is no where near a 3 star in terms of facilities and services available. It is way over priced and does not do a favour for the Marriott brand, but with new international brands under construction this will soon change. Right now it has a captive market so no options but to pay this overpriced rate.

Our check in took us about one hours in the early morning. There were 6-7 people waiting for checkin, but only one person was working. Although that worker was very friendly, but checkin process for each person took unusual amount of time. Compared to only 15 mins for checkin under the same condition in the Ramada princes hotel in the same city where I stayed a few days later, this is not acceptable for such a high standard hotel.

Nice location. Reception staff excellent. Nosebleed price for just a hotel! Noisy first night next to the elevators.( I requested quiet room). 2nd night quieter away from same. Did not like the only buffet style restaurant, no a la carte menu. We're world traveled foodies...Buffet presentation excellent, except food quality looked great, but not top notched. Flavors watered down. Desserts were an epic fail. The attention to looking great were ruined by the lack of authentic flavors and complexities. As a returning Guyanese, the emphasis should be on Guyanese desserts that I would have given you high 5's for!!!! We're known for our desserts, food, and diverse flavors. I noticed that the majority of the guests were Guyanese. I understand catering for everyone, but... stay true to the real flavors. I personally do not like fusion meals. Quite frankly, breakfast should have been included at this level. But I will pay anything for exceptional food!
The servers were all excellent, especially for breakfast!! Gracious, warm, and attentive.
I would be interested to see how this review matters.

The purpose of the trip was a sad one, as we were there, as a family, to memorialize my mother. The hotel experience, not only relieved us of additional things to think about, but supported my family and I in so many ways.
Staff members like, the bartender, Sean, the Manager, the drivers and the restaurant staff were wonderful throughout the week.
The only thing that we missed was the pool, as it was closed for renovations.

We visited Guyana after not being back for 30 years! The hotel is in a great central location in Georgetown. The grounds are well kept. Unfortunately the pool was closed during our stay and we were disappointed about this as we were informed about this approx 1 week prior to our stay. We would have expected a price reduction for the room rate per night for the pool/hot tub being closed. The staff are generally friendly and helpful however there were a few that appeared to be disinterested in serving their guests. The hotel restaurant is overpriced as well as their bar. The bed is comfortable and room is spacious. Hotel is in a good location to be able to walk to nearby monuments during the day time.

This was a really nice property, very clean and it was great that they had a taxi service right in the lobby to book services. The front desk staff was super friendly. The food was delicious.
Things that weren’t great were the pool location. The sun left the pool area around 1 or 2pm leaving it pretty cold so that most times you just had to sit in the jacuzzi. They should consider a heated pool. Additionally the food area by the pool was never opened for our stay.. I think once we saw it open. The hotels main restaurant was open to the public and hotel guests had to wait long for service and on the night of New Year’s Eve there was no reservations available for guests. Which is ridiculous for the amount per night Marriott charges to stay there.
Also the first day we arrived we were told breakfast was til 10 or 10:30 then lunch started at 11… they did not open for lunch until 12:30.

My very first time staying here in my home country after 15 years. It was well worth it. We enjoyed the pool and the hot tub especially since it was a cloudy day. The bar delivered our drinks pool side which was awesome. Although 1 main restaurant for dinner we enjoyed the service. We had the option of dinner menus or buffet. We opted for the buffet and it was well worth it. So many different options to choose from. Between local cuisine to more modern dishes. The rooms were pristine and clean. However it was so cold we turned off the AC. Even as native New Yorkers we got cold. And a true bonus….the president of guyana was there at a gala the same time as us and it was awesome to see.
