Hotel policy, they required to provide Driver license and enter my personal Identification in their system, even they have my Expedia booking and credit card info. I don’t know how secure with the hotel storing system, I am worry that my personal ID is sold to the third party or third country for criminal activities like fraud and scams. For this reason I will not book for this hotel again or refer it to anyone

Extremely poor hygiene. We did pick this because it had a hot tub and a swimming pool. The hot tub was dirty, it had skunk marks around and a lot of froth would come up. The swimming pool had a lot of dirt at the bottom and dirt stains. The hotel did text me to ask if the stay was okay and if there was anything that they could do. I replied, telling them how disgusting the hot tub and the swimming pool were. They did nothing. We were there for two nights, they stayed just as dirty for the three days that we were there.
This is a two star hotel, the price is very reasonable, but I do expect a certain level of. As mentioned, the hot tub and swimming pool were disgusting, the worst I've ever experienced over many years of staying at a number of different hotels.
This hotel lacks general maintenance, in the room you could clearly tell that the walls, baseboards etc had not been cleaned for quite a while. This hotel has been neglected, it needs extreme facelift and clean up.

Hot tub was disgusting, scum floating and on edge of tub. Pool had sand in it and stairs going in were dirty. Previous reviews over the last 3 years have said the same thing. Hot tub was not hot. The shower in the room took a long a time to heat up and ran out of hot water fast. The grout in the tile surround was not clean. The room wasn’t as updated as the pictures suggest. Not a fresh smell in the hallway and room. Breakfast is not free as advertised. Corporate is apparently aware of this and hasn’t changed the ad yet.

I stayed here for 9 days and unfortunately this was my worst experience to date. Not once during my stay was my room cleaned. The room was left with an almost empty roll of toilet paper upon arrival, and when I requested more, it never came—I ended up having to go out and buy my own.

I also ran out of towels during my stay, requested replacements, and again, nothing was ever delivered.

I’ve stayed here multiple times before and have always had a good experience, which made this stay especially disappointing. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves their service moving forward.

The pool was drained and closed. We booked our stay here because they had a pool and hot tub. The hot tub was 92° and when we asked them to increase the tempature they just ran a hose with hot tap water into it until it reached 95° then told us that was it...
Coffee maker in room was absolutely disgusting.
Staff barely spoke english.
There was sketchy people coming and going from the parking lot and other rooms all night, aswell as using drugs in the parking lot.
We will NEVER return to Port Elgin Travel Lodge.

The lady at the front desk was wonderful at check in. The location is very handy but the room we stayed in wasn’t the cleanest. We were in the outer rooms. The bathroom had a big spider web with dead bugs in it in the corner. The curtains had dead bugs stuck to them.
Sadly the pool wasn’t open due to a leak and other issues.
A fresh coat of paint would do a world of good on the rooms.
Would we stay there again??? Only if we could see the room first.

Nice hotel great location, good service. Room had a very sensitive floor, our/ Neighbor footsteps triggered a lot of shaking and rambling. Swimming pool had a nice hot water tub with jet streams but after a few minutes saw lot of dirt floating around.

I had issues checking in early even though I called the evening before nd was told I could check in and get a room key. Which is all I wanted. I did not want into the room. The lady just argued and couldn’t get it through her head that all I wanted was a room key as was going to be late getting back to my room. The bed was comfy. Not enough plug ins to plug coffee maker in The clock didn’t work. Would probably not go back to there to stay.

L'hotel est vieux, mais on voit les efforts pour le remettre a niveau (ex : la ceramique a ete refaite dans la piscine).
Les chambres sont propres et confortables, mais il y a de nombreuses traces d'humidité dans la salle de bain.
Le personnel est tres a l'ecoute, ils nous ont preté un lit bebe et un lit d'appoint pour notre plus grand.
L'hotel est 5 min d'une belle plage. Nous avons aimé notre sejour.

Obviously Travelodge bought this motel with intentions of updating and modernizing. Not much done so far.
Room had double bed and 26” TV that wasn’t working. Bathroom was tiny, toilet seat broken. Window air conditioner was very loud. Furniture was worn on wooden tops and dresser handle was broken. Not impressed for $150 a night.

The bedside lamp was bent. The dresser had a missing handle. The sink taps were rusty and there was damage in the room that looked like someone had been beaten in our room.
On a good note, the bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was clean. The property is fairly tidy except a few cigarette butts by the entryway.

We stayed at this location for two nights. The room we were in the first night had non-functional air conditioning. We spoke to the front desk the next day and as they had no comparable rooms available,they upgraded us into another room for free. Certainly service is fantastic here. If you have an opportunity to go to the attached café, the food there is very good for breakfast and lunch, and there’s a discount for hotel guests.

The air conditioner leaked all over the floor and soaked it. After reporting this, nothing was done about the wet floor. The curtains have small holes in them, and one pillow was missing a cover. The hair dryer blew out when I used it. The staff was very nice, but the hotel needs an injection of money to make it a little nicer, and it needs to be cleaned better. There was dust all over the wires behind the end tables.

Room smelled so bad and unprofessional staff knocked at our door at 9:30 in the morning woke up kids and told them we need to checkout. The checkout time was 11 a.m not 9:30 and it was extremely rude behavior.
Based on my overall experience staying at travelodge this time and past, I would not reccomend anyone to stay in their old smelly building. It's the same trend I have noticed with Waydam Travellodge.

I stayed for 2 nights, August 5th and August 6th/25.The rooms are very, very outdated.
For what you pay each night they should be a little more modern... The room was quite musty smelling, but nothing a little febreeze couldn't get rid of and the reason for that I believe is the carpets (also very old and in need of replacing). People walking in with wet and sandy feet. I left my shoes at the door almost didn't want to..There should not be carpets on these floors, at least not in a beach location. That's probably what gives it the smell very outdated décor the chairs look like they were from the 40's. and some of the pictures maybe older. The bedding & curtains dingy and all old.... Considering you're just there to sleep.I guess it was okay.
I do feel they should be putting a lot more $$$ in to Improving and updating the facility.I did notice that there was some construction going on.So maybe they are in the process of doing so but that was just in the pool and hot tub area. I don't think I will be back unless they do a complete overhaul of the décor. I will definitely look for something a little more modern better maintained. Internet access was easy to connect, but weak at times. Yes it's the beach but they should be able to maintain and keep it clean and fresh.Overall my stay was ok. If you're just looking for a place to spend the night, I guess it's okay if you're looking for something a little more comfortable, you decide. Enjoy your vacation wherever you stay.

I would consider this a modest motel. Not many hotel choices in Port Elgin. Price seems high, but I get this is a tourist town for peak beach season.
Room was clean, beds small, furniture dated.
Couldn’t change channels on the cable TV.
Need better pillows (suggest MyPilllow).
Excellent homemade breakfast with 20% discount.
I would still book again for convenience.
