The room was pretty clean, but honestly, based on all the beautiful pictures shown on this site, what I saw and thought I booked and ended up with was a huge case of bait and switch. The room and the specially bathroom was hugely out-dated, bathroom looked like it got a reno in the 80's with counter chunks missing and the most aweful looking shower we've had the chane of using since our University dorm days. Also, beds were NOT comfortable at all. Honestly for such a pristine beautiful property, main guesthouse and grounds and that main pic that surely seals the deal for them most of the time with that patio between the mountains, which were very nice, it's a shame they run with such aweful rooms for a hefty price paid. Especially since none of the pictures looked anything like this terrible room. Beware and expect to be disappointed if you get unlucky like us.

We stayed in one of the Kitchenette rooms. I think the seasonal nightly rate was very high considering the aged condition of the room, squeaky mattress, small refrigerator, no A/C. The location and property is however beautiful and cabin cozy. Can't say enough about the restaurant! The food was amazing, and the staff were so friendly. The view is spectacular. Will come just to eat here again!

Clean a quiet place to stay, close to Hinton, about 45 min to Jasper, someone pointed out to me that the gas stations in Jasper run out of gas on occasion as they only have 2 stations now since the fire instead of 4, so I suggest topping up with gas in Hinton

Great stay! We thoroughly enjoyed our time at the Lodge. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the rooms were even better than the images online. The rooms were very clean and included a coffee maker. It was about a 1 hour drive to Jasper everyday. Although the drive can be long, it is a beautiful drive surrounded by wildlife and mountains. The staff was extremely welcoming and helpful. I will definitely recommend this stay to friends and family.

Lovely hotel with very friendly and helpful staff. We got a complimentary upgrade to a chalet as our room became unavailable due to renovations- all communicated well and in good time. Chalet had great facilities, only wish would be for them to offer twin beds in a second room for families.
Nice restaurant with great view.
35 mins north of Jasper but we really enjoyed the scenic drive and there are local amenities like the brewery and 10 mins to Hinton for cheap petrol and Beaver Boardwalk!

No elevator in the lodge, so we hauled our suitcases up the stairs. We were anxious to watch FIFA World Cup soccer, but there was no TV in the room. The meals and drinks at the Lodge were way overpriced. The lodge is between Hinton and Jasper, so there are no nearby restaurants or food stores. The room was clean and the view from the balcony was great.

The pictures don’t tell the real story unless you book a room right up front. Mostly locally owned houses. Nothing fancy or unique about our unit. They did put a couple pics of our unit but they were tucked in with lots of them showing nice woodwork and features. A massive stretch to use term “chalet.” Terrible tv reception when it rained which was frustrating.
The brewery right near by was awesome. Front desk staff were extremely kind and welcoming.

We have stayed here a few times before, it’s a beautiful spot and a lovely lodge. We have always stayed in the lodge itself, the rooms are cozy with fantastic views, but this time we were in a kind of annex, not as nice, just felt like an ordinary motel room in a nice place.

There aren’t many amenities, the restaurant has limited hours and there isn’t a little shop on site.

The restaurant is lovely. The food is a bit too fancy for our taste, a couple of plainer items would be welcome, especially as there is nowhere else to eat close by.

We love the Overlander, however this time didn’t feel as special.

The rooms in the Miette cabin are very small. The room had a slight “urine” smell. The toilet tank didn’t seal so the tank was filling every 15 minutes all day and all night. They didn’t seem to care about addressing the issue. The mattresses are not very comfortable. The only amenities that they have is a restaurant. For the price we paid, my expectations were higher. It’s a one and done.

What a beautiful place to stay! The staff were friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. We stayed in one of the little cottages, which was clean, comfortable, and beautifully updated. If you were handicapped or could not lift your bags or leg over the chain to alternate your path to load and unload baggage to room you will want call property and book for a room that is assessable for such needs. If cars are parked to close to walk way you will have to go around and be able to step over and walk to room. Would stay here again.

We were celebrating a milestone and were so excited to stay in a room there our desk manager and clerk gave us a fantastic upgrade and treated us like vip. The meal was delicious! Our servers and bar staff were all amazing, and the kindness of everyone was outstanding. Best night stay! View was amazing. Will definately return!

We had an amazing stay in the main building, with a Mountain View room. The lodge is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Staff exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the food in the restaurant is outstanding. Dinner and breakfast both the best meals we had while travelling through the Rockies. Happy to recommend Overlander to anyone passing through or near the area, and because it’s just outside of Jasper National Park boundary, it’s much better value!

What We Loved:
Cleanliness: The entire property and our room were exceptionally clean.
Atmosphere: The lodge is incredibly calm, quiet, and peaceful.
Staff: The team was wonderfully polite, helpful, and provided excellent service.Room: Our room was nice, comfortable, and well-maintained.
Things to Note:Amenities: There is no TV or microwave in the room, which we did miss during our stay.Aside from those two missing amenities, everything was absolutely perfect. We will definitely recommend this lodge to anyone visiting the area!

We enjoyed our stay at the Overlander Lodge, however it may not be for everyone. The location is quite isolated. The drive to Hinton is about 22 minutes. And the drive to Jasper town site is about 45 minutes.
The rooms do not have TVs. Nor in the lobby/lounge. So be sure to take your IPad or tablets for watching any entertainment. There is only one restaurant (fancy, yet expensive) on site and nothing else near by.
No BBQs on site. No microwave in rooms. Only a very tiny fridge. (I went prepared with electric frying pan, groceries and picnic supplies).
The accommodations (rooms) up stairs in the main lodge have paper thin walls. You will hear your neighbor chat, cough and snore. Not great for children/toddlers, as there is no play area or park.
Take your bug spray, sunscreen and bear bells (bears were visiting very close by when we were there).
If you stay at Overlander Mountain Lodge, go prepared. Know what is and isn’t there. It will make your trip much more enjoyable.

We stayed in a small room and it was good. Small kitchen and everything you need. Pull out sofa bed was a tad uncomfortable but did the trick.

If you are travelling with a pet, it’s better to call the hotel directly as online booking doesn’t let you indicate you want a pet friendly room, even though the hotel is pet friendly. Sometimes pet friendly rooms are limited and not available. Not an issue this time as we were upgraded to a much nicer chalet.

So happy we stayed here.we spent 1st night in lodge in a mountain view room and our second night is in a miette room. Both are BEAUTIFUL! Mountain views in both.
