Everything listed on this property online is as is in person. We arrived during the week so it was quiet an not as crowded. The staff was very polite and hospitable. I enjoyed everyone and everything. Thank you for serving my husband and I. We would love to come again!

The only reason our stay was remotely bearable was because of the incredible staff. Every single person we encountered went above and beyond to help us. They deserve 5 stars.
Unfortunately, the hotel itself is a complete disappointment. It’s extremely outdated, the facilities are rusty, worn down, and poorly maintained, and everything feels overused and neglected. From the rooms to the common areas, it’s clear that the place hasn’t been renovated or properly cared for in years.
It is also not a 3 minute walk from any beach, the closest beach is a 10-15 minute rocky and inaccessible walk. There is also nothing nearby other than a few local supermarkets and stalls.
It’s honestly a scam for the price they charge, their rating, the photos online are misleading, and the actual condition of the hotel is nowhere near what’s advertised. If it weren’t for the amazing staff, this would’ve been an entirely miserable experience.

It doesn't happen often, thankfully, but this hotel just didnt seem like how it waa sold on Expedia and it wasn't up.to scratch. It is supposed to be a 4.5* and it juat isn't. Im really not fussy, but I just got the impression that the bed hadnt been changed (marks on the sheets) and the floor also had marks- a very clear footprint and a coffee cup ring mark. The manager tried to assure me it had all been cleaned but i Wasn't convinced, but without fuss to be fair, they changed the bedding and cleaned the room and I felt better about my stay. The room had seen better days - buttons missing off the chair upholstery for instance, tatty blinds and a jacouzi bath which didnt work. I had a go at filling it and switching it on but 1..the water was cold as it just filled with a tiny trickle and then 2. the bath basically leaked from a pipe in the bottom, out across the bathroom floor for some reason, which I couldn't stop! It is West facing and being July, it was very windy. There was a ripped canvas orning outaide my window which flapped noisily all night and woke me up a few times. The location is also a bit out of the way. It's not really possible to walk to Unawatuna Beach and Jungle Beach nearby doesn't have a lt going on or the most attractive view. You need to get a Tuk Tuk or taxi,.aboht 15mins to Galle and 10mins around to Unawatuan. POSITIVES: Nice pool, decent breakfast, lovely staff - especially the young guys who work hard.

Blockout curtains: Yes, but light from the hallway shines through the sides of the blinds.
Comments: Spectacular view. Electronic dance music/subwoofer from pool area is loud and can be heard in the room, even though there was no people at the pool. Made it feel like more of a nightclub vibe than a hotel. The music didn’t stop until 9.15pm when I called reception to ask what time the music stops. It commenced again the following morning at 8.20am. The water pressure in the shower is poor. Very hard to wash the shampoo and conditioner out of your hair. Breakfast is included. If you’re vegan or have coeliac disease you can only eat the fruit. If you’re vegetarian you can only eat the fruit and eggs. If we had booked more than one night I would have been incredibly disappointed. The dinner menu is alright though.

The view from the room is beautiful. We booked the room for just one night to make sure that we like the room and the overall experience. When checking in, I asked if we like the room if we can extend the stay. We were told by the front desk that the hotel was booked the next night and that there were no vacancies for the following night.
The night of checking in, I went to Hotels.com to look for hotels in Unawatuna Levels Unawatuna showed a vacancy for the same room for the following night. I felt that they did not want us to stay there because I look like a local and my life partner is African America with as dark in complexation as a local.
There was mold and mildew in the bathroom on the ceiling above the jacuzzi due to the water leaks from the jacuzzi from the room above ours. The bathroom counter needs to be cleaned or repainted.

The staff are very welcoming and give 5 star service. However the bathrooms are run down, towels are all stained and it needs a good renovation. No iron in room or board no cleaning service. Hard to get Ubers or tuks up and down the hill. Stay in the Galle Fort much better.

Levels was amazing! Its quaint atmosphere was so very inviting and the staff was truly so hospitable and AMAZING! The rooms were clean, spacious and the views were out of this world. We were provided exceptional service from Kumara, Rasika,Thilina, Sehan yasmka and chef sujith. They were friendly and kind, and the food prepared by chef Sujith was so so delicious — authentic Sri Lankan food to innovative new creations, he can do it all. Thank you levels for the best experience ever!

People were great, room was clean however the fridge was not cool(room temp) and tv didn’t work for the 2 days I was there. I know you don’t travel to watch tv but after a day of activity it is good just to kick back have a cold drink and chill watching tv. All in all, good location, good view but for the money spent I think there are better options.

Needs to be clean

Location and overall appeal of the hotel is great. Some staff are really good and helpful. Most are courteous but the language barrier makes it super hard at times. Front desk was the worst and there was a huge gap in requests made to them and getting those executed by the staff. Cleanliness needs a WHOLE LOT to be improved on. In every room and every aspect of bathrooms.

The photos are very outdated and do not match the current condition of the rooms or public areas of the hotel. It is obvious that several years ago it was a very modern, chic, and comfortable place to stay, but renovations and updates are desperately needed.

Our suite had a large bathtub that was too dirty to use, the lock/keys for our door would regularly get stuck and be difficult to open or lock, the cabanas surrounding the pool had dirty linens, our bathroom sink had a leak and the bathroom had a serious ant problem. The worst problem was the air conditioner which stopped working 5 times during our 4-day stay making it difficult to sleep or relax in our room. Again, all of these issues happened in our suite which was supposed to be the best or one of the best rooms at the property.

On the positive side, the staff was great and tried to accommodate us the best they could. Every time the air conditioner broke someone would come to fix it, but the fix would only last a short time before the AC unit broke again. The staff in the restaurant were great, very attentive and the food was good. We can’t say anything negative about the staff, they were very helpful to us, but the hotel needs to do some renovations/updates to be rated as highly as they are on and the photos on the website are very misleading

Beautiful place in a fantastic location outside main Unawatuna, next to Jungle Beach. It's a bit of a trek to main Unawatuna, but you can easily move around with Tuk Tuks and we hired a scooter for our time here which was perfect. The hotel really has the wow factor - great views overlooking the beach and a beautiful pool, however also relies on this with slightly lower standards elsewhere. There was a funny smell in room, drains or mould. WiFi was basically unuseable due to being so slow and at times just didn't work. Food was very average, although I am basing this on the breakfasts as we did not have our evening meals here. Funnily this was the most expensive place on our Sri Lankan trip, and definitely not the best! We found guest houses to be much better quality throughout. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great hotel and fantastic service

My wife and I spent four nights at this hotel and we were treated to a lovely suite overlooking the ocean. The trip was mainly planned to relax from the busy work life and this hotel delivered this perfectly. The seas were a bit rough at this time of year, so we had a brief dip at Jungle beach which is a 5 min walk from the hotel. If you are looking for a gym, its 15 mins away by walk or 5 mins by tuktuk (we tried it once, but we really wanted to relax instead).

There are a few things to mention such as the supportive staff, fantastic room, pool, food, spa and the services. We tried them all including a candle lit romantic dinner for our 3rd wedding anniversary, the lovely massage at the spa as well as a safari trip to Yala which was fantastic.

Thanks to the site manager (Hasantha Lakmal) who kept this place in pristine condition and helped us spend the time fruitfully. We'd love to return and recommend this place to anyone.

Best hotel in Sri Lanka!

The staff went out of their way to help us with everything during our stay, the service couldn’t have been better! The room was beautiful with views out to sea and the bed was very comfy. The breakfast includes warm bread/ croissants/ samosas as well as fresh fruit and whatever you order from the breakfast menu! Always easy to get a tuk tuk to Unawatuna beach. You won’t regret staying here :)

Levels by cantaloupe is one of, if not the best hotels I have ever stayed. The service that we received throughout our 3 night stay was impecable, and more. Every single staff member went above and beyond. Breakfast was delicious, the pool was amazing but the rooms are absolutely wonderful. Particularly the deluxe room by the pool on the bottom floor. We were treated like absolute royalty and I very highly recommend a stay at this hotel, the only problem being you may not want to leave like us.

Amazing stay on our honeymoon. Area is perfect, short walk from jungle and white beaches and the peace pagoda. A 10 min tuk tuk ride from unawatuna. Staff are always happy to help and we would suggest suite 2 if you can get it.

This hotel was a joy to be at...perfect service especially the great waiter Janith he was so helpful with great suggestions for trips! We ended our busy tour with a stay here and the hotel was fantastic!
Worth having a superior suit the view and rooms amazing ! Food was lovely all served with a good choice and willing to adapt to your choice! Pool a welcome addition in the heat and hotel close to good beaches walks and villages

Stayed for 7 nights, Jan 2019. The staff were amazing, so attentive to our needs. Room was always spotless and the food that we had at the hotel (breakfast every day and lunch on 3 days) was delicious. Only criticism would be on the time it took for breakfast to arrive, pretty small menu to choose from, it really shouldn't take an hour of your morning, from start to finish, to have an avocado and toast or market bowl smoothie breakfast (both were delicious).
5 min walk to Jungle beach, 10 minute tuk tuk drive into Unawatuna for dinner options. would recommend

Great views, food is very good, nice pool area and the staff is absolutely wonderful. Room and building is starting to show its age. I wouldn’t recommend the spa.

Overall highly recommended if you want a romantic spot that is close to Galle but away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Mixed feelings. We had problems upon checking and had to wait an hour - staff isntead of saying room wasnt ready kept making us wait, loosing an hour of our time sitting in the horrible heat. Later they did do everything the could to make up for this and were helpful. Still, i felt like a walking dollar bill... want dinner? Just 175 usd or more! Same for the spa. Kind of ridiculous. The deco is kind of tacky, and the location is very far away from the beach and restorants - you will have to take a tuktuk everytime. Breakfast was good abd the pool very nice.

I want to move in here. Stay here, you won't regret it. I arrived to a welcome drink, cool towel, and prepped jacuzzi tub with flower petals. The bed is huge and comfortable, the food is spectacular, the smart TV has Netflix, everything is done so well. The pool is amazing and the service is wonderful. Boutique hotels offer something special in intimacy, peace, and tranquility. The beach is less than 10 minutes away.

My wife and I stayed at Levels for 3 nights and enjoyed most of our stay. The room was spacious and nicely prepared. The view from the hotel is also nice. Breakfast was good and higher quality than many other places we have stayed in Asia. With that said, the lunch and dinner menu options were a bit limited and not really what we were looking for. There are many great restaurants in the area, I recommend checking those out.
Overall the hotel was great and as advertised. One suggestion, do not book any activities or excursions through the hotel. They will charge at least a 35% on whatever the true price should be. We knew there would be some tax but it was a bit ridiculous. Even our tuk tuk driver said we should report the charge to hotel management. Simply ask a tuk tuk driver for suggestions and they will hook you up with a fair price for whatever you want to do.

A nice stay minutes away from Galle and Unawatuna

Located at the Rumassala mountain, Levels is a 10 minute tuktuk ride away from both Galle and Unawatuna. Has amazing views, Jungle Beach and White beach are 10 minute walk away (need to go downhill then climb so might not be good if you have knee problem) and Japanese Peace Pagoda is just around the corner. We were looking for a conveniently located place nestled away from the road noise and hustle we had to bear the previous night in Bentota and Cantaloupe levels were exactly this. It is a small property with a personal touch though the style is a bit outdated. We stayed at 2 different rooms, thanks to the free upgrade we received on arrival. Both types of rooms were spacious with huge bathrooms and a jacuzzi. Some bathroom amenities and towels were absent at both bathrooms but replaces after we reminded the housekeeping. Bed was comfortable, overall room cleanliness was good and room had everything we needed. My favourite place in the hotel was the pool and lounge beds. It was a delight to lay there and enjoy the complimentary fruit popsicles in the afternoon. Breakfast was tasty, all food served was made from fresh and good quality ingredients. They have a good variety available. Staff was friendly and very helpful. We had a small incident with the electricity and even the GM, who was in the property by chance, showed up to check and they fixed it in the shortest possible time. Overall we had a pleasant stay and I recommend this hotel.

Okay, but not worth what you pay.

Levels by Cantaloupe is located just 5 minutes from the Galle Highway exit. There is no signage from the main road, which makes you wonder whether you have taken the correct turn-off as the road up to the hotel is very narrow and you have to travel a considerable distance down this road.

After arriving, there is limited car parking space available opposite the entrance to the hotel. I would say 3 cars max. The hotel itself is relatively small, a 9-bedroom property, which can be a good thing. The staff are friendly and accommodating. As I walked up to the room, I noticed that the property shows much wear. The walls desperately need a paint job.

The room was spacious but I couldn't help but feel as if it was awkwardly furnished from a style perspective. There was a nice widescreen TV and minibar and the bed was comfortable. The view from the room was superb (this room was on the top floor of the hotel). The fittings in the bathroom felt a bit cheap and flimsy and I also noted the back of the shower cubicle was not tiled (although I'm guessing it has been well waterproofed). There was a jacuzzi/hot-tub in the bathroom although this was just pushed up against a wall with no waterproofing between the jacuzzi and wall with a gap. The water pressure was quite poor which made it difficult to enjoy a shower and also we were unable to fill the jacuzzi as it would have taken in excess of 30-40 minutes given the water pressure. Otherwise the room was acceptable.

Wonderful Stay

My husband and I had a great stay at Levels. The staff was terrific and very accommodating, the food was beyond delicious and the sea view from the hillside was spectacular. It seems as though every room has a great view, you can't go wrong. Jungle Beach and White Beach are a quick 5-10 minute walk from the hotel! We really enjoyed the short quiet walks to get to the beaches, we often spied monkeys and monitor lizards on the way! Unawatuna beach and Galle are both a quick and inexpensive tuk tuk ride away and also well worth the visit. We haven't been gone long an we're already looking forward to another visit back to Sri Lanka and to Levels by Cantaloupe.

Beautiful views

Great little hotel with beautiful views. Perfectly located, just a few minutes walk down to the lovely Jungle Beach. Hotel staff are very friendly. get a room with a view over the bay, well worth the extra money. We had a suite with a fantastic view over the bay. Only complaint was the communal balcony outside our room on the 1st floor which means people can walk by your bedroom window if they want. Doesn't seem to be an issue with other rooms. Also strongly recommend the spa facilities where they will come to your room. We had several treatments, excellent service!

Spectacular food, service and view

No where else in Sri Lanka were we served food as delicious as the made-from-scratch curries prepared at this hotel. Beyond the food, the service also was remarkable; the staff was ever ready to fill our needs without being obsequious. We had worried in advance about the location, but it proved to be perfect. The hotel sits on a cliff between the tourist-packed historic Galle and the beachfront honky-tonk of Unawatuna. Tuk-tuks were readily available to take us to those other sites. But at Levels, we could enjoy serenity and a spectacular view.

sublime stay in luxury

I cannot praise this boutique hotel enough. A last minute booking was made to enable us to return to Galle and a last swim in the Indian ocean.
The hotel is set in the hills, an easy tuk tuk ride from Galle and a short walk to the gorgeous jungle beach.
On arrival we received a personal, hospitable greeting and a gorgeous fresh fruit juice. We were quickly shown to our room, which was huge, very well appointed and comfortable. There were lots of we'll thought through extras including smart tv, robes that fit western frames, a jacuzzi bath and powerful waterfall shower.
We were able to step outside our room straight onto the lovely pool and outside beds.
Based on other reviews we choose to eat in the hotel at night (extra cost). The food was sublime and was a great way to spend the end of our holiday dining under the night sky. At breakfast there was great choice, and the breakfast was very tasty and gorgeously presented.

This place is somewhat secluded in a nature preserve, far away from the city traffic and noise. Its a small villa with about 10 rooms and suites. The amenities, pool and views are amazing. 24 hr room service and easy ride to Galle city.

Great boutique hotel

The staff and owner are amazing. They were very attentive and hospitable. The location is great- close to Temple, Jungle Beach, and Galle. The hotel can easily arrange for excursions and tuktuk rides. The pool and balcony have breath taking views. The rooms are enormous with a great view.

Lovely welcoming staff who are very eager to please and proud of the hotel. The hotel design and setting was unique and quite beautiful. Only complaint is we had breakfast delivered to our room one morning and it took about 15 minutes to serve and was cold/soggy by the time we ate it. Im sure it would have been nice if it had been freshly cooked.

Fancy botique hotel, managed by a very young team

A pretty inexperienced team of young men manages this brand new, highly fancy 9 room boutique hotel. Great hotel with magnificent sea view from all rooms. Remote location in dull neighbourhood (taxi or tuk tuk needed to go anywhere). General lack of staff seniority and experience, but with good intentions. No (free) drivers quarters available.
