Reasonably priced hotel located adjacent to the Gion district in Kyoto. I booked a small double which is 12sq metre so be aware of the size of the room and how limiting this is with space for bags etc. Other than that well priced and comfortable. Free breakfast was a mixture of hot and cold western food and much appreciated.

This hotel is in a very convenient location. It is within walking distance to Kiyomizu-dera and some other sites. The train station is also within three minutes walking distance, making it easy to get to other tourist attractions.

The hotel is good value. You get complimentary breakfast and drinks. There is a good selection of drinks and food.

There is free laundry available. You will only need to pay a small amount for some detergent.

Staff will go out of their way to help you.

The rooms are small but clean and comfortable.

Overall, I enjoyed my stay here.

Highly recommend!

Highly recommend this hotel! A generous breakfast is included. Room is updated and very clean. Safe area. Walkable along the river to the big market. Subway and bus right outside if you don't like walking. This was one of our favorite hotels in Japan, and was the lowest price by far. The room is small but well set up, so quite comfortable.

Hotel is located right next to a train station. It is a station away from Gion. Fushimi Inari is several stops away. Kiyomizu-dera is 15 min of walking.

The stuff is very nice and polite.

My room was a bit weird mixture of traditional japanese and modern styles, but it was nice, clean and comfortable.

Friendly and attentive staff. The rooms are a bit small but that’s to be expected in a Japanese style hotel. The beds are futons on the floor, so be prepared for that as the pictures don’t make that completely obvious. Overall a great experience.

This was a cute and convenient hotel - however the space is very, very small! The bed takes up 80% of the room. Thankfully this was not too bad of an issue due to us having two bags, but I would recommend this place mostly to solo travelers or couples who pack light and don’t mind compact spaces and no room view. The breakfast buffet was nice, so was the staff. The room itself included a refrigerator, toiletries including toothbrushes, a brush, hairdryer, etc. It had everything we needed.

Awesome experience

Awesome staff. They helped us a lot to try to places where we wanted to go. They also have a great breakfast menu. Daily room clean was available. The place has Lawson, Family Mart, and 7-11 within walking distance less than 2 min, 30 sec walk to the closest KH line station and 10-20 min wall away from Kiyomizu-dera. I would totally stay here again next time coming to Kyoto!

Really happy with this hotel

I really liked this hotel, good location - not far from Gion & Kiyomizu-dera & public transport.
The room had a wardrobe & a space to store suitcases as well as a little nook in the entry for coats & the like.
The bed was really comfy - just note that it's on the floor & this might be difficult for those with physical issues.
The free breakfast was nice, not a huge range but what's available is good quality. You can sit and eat breakfast overlooking the street.
Fantastic laundry facilities & an excellent elevator. The elevator was always quick & I really liked that!
Staff were nice, I didn't interact with them too much, but they were all professional & good at what they do.
I would stay here again, it's a really good hotel.

Terrible hotel staff attitude

Majority of the hotel staff could not speak English nor Mandarin. Hotel sign is facing 1 direction which makes it easily miss.

On the day when I checked out, I decided to buy some food from local shops next the hotel. I brought the food to the hotel cafe but the receptionist told my mom that the cafe was closed for cleaning. I didn’t see anyone cleaning and the sign said closed from 20:00 to 24:00, so I went in to get a drink. The female receptionist came from behind, shouted at me and slammed the cafe door. All of us were shocked at her rude attitude and felt humiliated. My impression of the hotel staff n Japanese culture have been good until this incident happened.

-Good location with underground access (Kiyomizu-Gojō) nearby and taxis frequently passing by, bus stop outside, lots of good pottery shops, convenience shops such as family mart and Lawson and local restaurants (udon, takoyaki, ramen, bars etc)
-Breakfast was satisfying and was of good quality. It is an all you can eat buffet catering a mostly Japanese style breakfast
-Staff were always welcoming and saying displaying the usual pleasantries of good morning and were always available to help you as best as they could

We had a Japanese double room, and it was really small. There was only a narrow walking space to reach the wardrobe, and no space to place an open bag. For the price that we paid, there are other better options. Won't recommend this place.

This is a new hotel. I was surprised that the futon/bed was on the floor rather than elevated as was shown in pictures. Rooms are much smaller than we are used to in North America. The japanese style breakfast buffet is good and I enjoyed the welcome drink in the evening. Staff were helpful.

Breakfast buffet included was surprisingly sufficient Japanese-style for room rate. Located on main street (Gojo dori), easy to find, right next to kiyomisu-gojo subway station. Walk 10 min to Gion or Karamachi.

The problems started straight away at this hotel, reception is down a corridor and then up one floor in the lift, when I arrived the sign explaining this was missing but it returned later. On getting to reception they seemed to have problems locating my booking, a worrying 20 minutes later I was checked in. On arriving the room had the smell of stale cigarettes despite it being a no smoking room complete with no smoking signs.
The room itself was fine, small but that is the norm in Japan, everything was fairly new and in good condition.
The breakfast was so-so, not as good as in a previous hotel owned by the same company. Local area was convenient for the Keihan Line station but not too much else in the close vicinity.

Stayed for four days and couldn't be happier. Got a room upgrade upon check in, to my surprise. Hotel offers a refreshment drink service until 20:00 and free laundry. Hotel staff are kind and professional. Will be revisiting this place later on this month because they did such a good job.

Clean, compact, value for money room

Good value for money, clean, compact room- like many in Japan. Futon on the floor (although not tatami). Tight space but fine for sleeping and showering. Not too far from main temple areas, walk is acceptable for the price. Right next to subway/train line so convenient for further travel in the city. Breakfast included.

Right next to Keihan Main line that will link easily to the Tozai Subway (at Sanjo Keihan Station) and JR Nara line at Tofukuji. Between these 3 lines U have yourself covered for all or Kyoto and into Osaka.
Super clean hotel, new facilities, and right near 3 Konbini for 247 bentos and snack!

My wife and I stayed here in November of 2016 for 4 nights and were happy with our decision to make this our hotel for our time in Kyoto. It's very close to the rail line (less than 1 block away) which made it nice to come back to after a long day of seeing the sites. It's also within walking distance of Kiyomizu-Dera but far enough away to avoid the crowds and the tour buses. It's also next door to a couple of convenience stores. At first when we read some of the reviews about the rooms we were initially concerned however, we actually ended up liking the rooms, we'd read beforehand that others had issues with the room sizes which would be understandable if you are trying to fit a ton of people in them, but for the two of us with our luggage it was a fine fit. The room was what we would call a “traditional\" Japanese style room with the bed on the floor with a cushion and small table. The breakfast they serve is very nice and provides a good selection of food. The staff was very friendly and wanted to make sure that we were enjoying our stay. Honestly, this hotel was very nice for the 2 of us and we will use it again next time we are in Kyoto.

Urbain was a small boutique hotel, with a small but comfortable and clean room. The price was reasonable, and the access to the subway, river walk, and to the Gion district was a major plus. Breakfast was free and included a moderate selection of very well prepared and tasty Japanese food. We would stay here again.

Great hotel, good location, very convenient!

I can recommend this hotel. The staff was very helpful explaining the public transport; there is a bus stop (buses are perfect in Kyoto!) and metro station just outside the main entrance. You can do a lot by just walking. I was lucky to get a free upgrade and enjoyed it a lot. The breakfast buffet is very decent. Best of all they have a very flexible late check out policy. You pay $10 per hour extra - fantastic before a long flight!

絨毯の上に髪の毛がいっぱいでティッシュでいくつも拾った。座るのにタオルを敷いて座った。
台の上に菓子クズのようなものがちらかっていた。
バスタブにも髪の毛が一本と、何となくザラつきがあった。
カードキーの使い方の説明がなく、最初エレベーターで上がれず、困った。
キャリーケースを預けたが、誰もいないフロアの隅に置き去りで、管理が雑だった。
クッションもシミだらけで汚く、髪の毛も数本付いていて、使う気になれなかった。

工夫は面白いが清掃がイマイチ

ベッドなしの小上がり風のお部屋で、コンパクトな中に必要なものは全て詰まっており、工夫は面白く感じました。

ただ、清掃は「見えるところだけ」。布団の中やシーツの端から、髪の毛が何本も出てきました。ベッドなら「ベッドの下」は見なかったことにもできますが、厚みはあっても布団なので
気になります。

部屋の匂いも気になりました。

朝食のパンは内容の割に美味しかったです。

お安いので仕事の時に利用できる候補に入れられるかと期待していましたが、2回目はないかな…

予約を一泊で伸ばしたけど、チェックインすると時に「あれ、満員ですけど、予約がないです。」みたいな反応されました。店員は迷惑をかけているというよりもまるで私は部屋が欲しいから迷惑だ見たいな対応でした。

部屋は「和風」をアピールしているけど単なるベッドフレームがない洋室です。

この周辺にもっといいホテルがいっぱいあるので避けた方がいい。

コンビニが隣にあるのがいい。
建物の1階に喫煙所があるが、エレベーターの前であったため、エレベーターに乗る際に喫煙所でタバコを吸っていたのが気になった。
朝食付きでこの値段はいいと思った。
朝食の内容はパンとサラダとウインナー、ヨーグルト、ドリンクと、なぜだか焼きそば。
宿泊者数に比べて席が少ないので、時間によっては待つこともある。

2박동안 트윈룸을 예약했는데 생각보다 방이 넓었고 성인 남자 2명이 사용하는데 크게 좁지 않았음. 화장실이 다소 좁아 욕조가 조금 짧지만 바로 따뜻한 물이 나오고 깨끗하였음. 넉넉한 옷장과 캐리어 보관칸이 있고 기본적인 어메니티는 거의 있으며 침대 머리쪽에 콘센트와 전등 끄는 스위치가 있어 좋았음. 매트리스는 깨끗하고 푹신한데 사람에 따라 많이 푹신하다고 느낄 수 있음. 냉장고는 작았지만 잠깐 음식을 보관할 수 있었고 작은 소파가 있어 유용하게 사용하였음. 와이파이는 잘 터짐.
조식은 빵 2~3종류에 밥 국 및 반찬 몇 가지와 스크램블 에그 요거트 음료수이며 한 가지 반찬은 매일 바뀌어 나왔는데 개인적으로는 맛있게 먹었음.
호텔 주변에 편의점이 여러 개 있고 맛있는 라멘집이 있어 식사하기 좋았음. 청수사까지는 걸어서 15분 정도로 갈만한 편이나 호텔 자체가 버스 정류장과는 어느 정도 거리가 있음. 5분 정도 걸려 걸어갈 수 있는 버스 정류장에서 주요 관광지로 갈 수 있으므로 크게 불편하지는 않았음. 큰 도로가 앞에 있으나 주변이 조용한 편이고 깊은 골목으로만 안가면 대로 주변은 비교적 밝음. 게이한 선을 타고 오사카로 이동하기 편했음.
리셉션과 서비스가 항상 친절하였음. 교토를 다시 방문할 기회가 있다면 또 이용할 생각.

朝食がオススメ

すぐ近くの仕事の関係で宿泊しました。
部屋はダブルですがそれほど広くありません。ですがコンパクトにまとまっている感じです。畳みたいな感じのフロアとベッドもいいと思います。
エレベーターは入室用カードを使用するセキュリティーで安心です。
オススメは朝食セット。パンとコーヒーだけのホテルとは違って結構充実してます。パンもご飯もあり、驚いたのはご飯で出汁茶漬けができるように出汁や漬物などもある事。朝食は軽くしたいという方にも十分満足できると思います。
駅近くでコンビニも2軒ありますが、意外と食事や飲むところには苦労するかもです。

駅からも近く、この金額で宿泊できるなら、かなりお勧めのホテルだと思います。朝食も十分に満足のいくものですし、午後にはドリンクも無料でサービスされています。部屋は落ち着いてくつろげる感じで、逆に少し仕事はやりにくいかもしれません。駅からは近いですが、間口の狭い京都の建物ですので、見逃さないようにしてください。
