It's a beautiful Showa Era Ryokan that's over 70 years old. There is a 200 yen accommodation tax when checking in (this tax applies for all accommodations in Fukuoka), which I happily paid for as I want to support sustainable tourism).

You leave your shoes at the main entrance and use slippers throughout the Ryokan. You are provided a toothbrush, yukata, and a prepared tea set that you can pour hot water in immediately to consume.
I believe I met the owner's father, who checked me in. He was incredibly patient, introduced me to my room (which was clean and tidy), set up my bedding, and guided me to where the facilities were while explaining in Japanese with some English translations. The amenities are a little outdated, but in exchange-- the accommodation is affordable and breakfast is an available option. The walls are also a little thin-- so you will hear some noise from the outside, this did not bother me though as the area was quiet during the night. The check-out time is 10AM and I easily did so by leaving my room key in the basket at the main entrance.

In summary, the Yamamoto Ryokan is an affordably wonderful and historic place to spend your nights. They have an instagram: @yamamotoryokan and a cute Shiba Inu dog named; Charmie. I sadly didn't get to meet the dog but heard them barking in the morning.

I don’t recommend this hotel

When I checked in this hotel I felt myself in scary movie “Wrong Turn 2”. Staff not welcomed us, room facilities is not good, one bathroom for all guests, Internet is so slow and sometimes disappeared, room facilities is terrible, i so regret of staying in this hotel, checking was not refundable otherwise I would stay in another hotel:(

Nice place in the middle of the city

This place was perfect for my trip with my brother. The futons were comfortable and the room was clean. The tv only had 5-6 channels, but this didn't matter because we didn't spend much time in the room. Each room has a hardline internet connection, which allowed us to watch movies and there is wireless in the lobby. The showers/family baths were clean and so were the bathrooms. This is the perfect place to stay if you want to travel around the area and don't plan on spending much time in the room.

This is an older traditional hotel. We stayed in a family tatami room which was comfortable for sleeping and watching TV. The toilets were down the hall and the bath was quite a bit further. They charge extra for towels. It was hard to find anyone from the hotel most of the time. It's a 10 minute walk from the JR station and 10 minute walk to the Nakasu District and Canal City so the location is pretty good.

My first real ryokan

The smell of dogs in the entrance wasn't a good sign, although it didn't persist past the entrance area. The room itself smelt damp, although it was clean as were the toilets/washing areas etc. I asked about breakfast but was told that it wasn't available.
The person I took to be the proprietor and his wife tried to be helpful, but the language barrier was too great.
I will need to try another Ryokan before I know how this one rates.

Traditional feel.

The property is in a good location, close to the station and major attractions. Traditional tatami room and a family bath. Shared toilet was not a problem. Staff welcoming and helpful.

Room smell of dog pee, not worth the price

the worst night I've ever had in Japan for such high price, definitely not worth it. For Japan standards this is very bad. Even the bedding had stairs on them.

Rustic Ryokan, The Yamamoto for Funky Travelers

The Yamamoto Ryokan was about a six minute walk from Hakata Station. Up the road a bit from Nakusa party area. The place is definitely family owned and operated. Rooms are small and basic and the bath is family style and shared down on the first floor. Great location and easy enough for a very low priced 6000 Yen to have my own tatami room with TV. It is on the rustic side and quite clean and comfy. I recommend it for business, backpackers and travelers who like to be out and about.

Genuine Japanese Ryokan in the city centre.

We, three adults, stayed in Fukuoko City for two nights at the end of a 10 day trip in Kyushu. Having dropped our rental car and heavy luggage at the airport, it was easy to find our way to the Ryokan by subway. We found the hotel quite charming. The welcome, the room and the facilities were just great for us. We appreciated the shared kitchen area as well as the shared family bath, and our room was comfortable and quiet. I would encourage anyone with an interest in experiencing genuine Japanese culture to stay at Ryokan Yamamoto.

True Japanese type experience

This is not for those looking for plush amenities, but it is great for those wanting a more realistic Japanese experience. Bathing facilities are family style baths( lots of hot water and able to streach ou and really relax after a hard day), restrooms down the hall. order breakfast the night before, rice, soup, egg, fish, meat, pickles, seaweed and nato ,when I was there. Rice and soup were hot every thing else was cold. There was also a raw egg incase you wanted to make Japanese egg rice. good tatami floors, comfortable futons to sleep on. Easy walking to Canal city (major shopping mall), Nakasu entertainment district and Kawabata dori (covered shopping street). comfortable walk to Hakata station (transport and shopping. Close to two major streets for bus travel and one on the subway if you don't want to walk. I did miss not having a refrigerator in the room, but will stay there again. If you are over 5'10\" watch your head, there are a few low ceilings.

Combination of old and new

Ryokan is located in great place. It seemed to me like an old place which was partially upgraded - all the toilets are new ones western style with buttons, very clean. Person who met us did't speak English or even speak a lot at all. But on initial check-in he showed us around - where were showers, toilets, etc. and it was important, since building has 2 floors and to some places, you have to find a unique route, since often I found myself getting into places I shouldn't be. Some objects I previously took for granted, like freezer and hair drier have to be searched for too. This place is okay, but wouldn't recommend for long stays. My girlfriend disliked it though, because toilets and showers are shared, so it's not for everyone.

いわゆる「商人宿」（寅さんが旅先で泊まるような宿）という雰囲気で、部屋も十分広く快適でした。欲をいえば、トイレが非常に狭くて用が足しにくいこと（ウォシュレットの水圧も足りない）、部屋に冷蔵庫がないことは改善を求めたいです。
玄関にいるワンちゃんがとてもおとなしくてかわいかったです。

朝食の内容が良かったです。特にみそ汁は絶品でした。今どき博多の中心部で朝食付きで一万円以下で宿泊できるところはほとんどありません。良い意味で昭和の雰囲気が残った旅館でいつまでも続いていって欲しいと思いました。

都会の中の小さな迷路屋敷

トイレ、風呂が共同なので、慣れていないと面倒かも。トイレは狭く、便器から扉までの距離が30㎝も無いくらいなので、方向転換も難しい。部屋が増築で造られたのか、迷路のようになっていて、方向音痴の人にはオススメしません。それを楽しめる人には良いと思います。
良い意味で何も無いので、寝泊まりだけなら有りです。
玄関にいるシバ犬は可愛く、全く吠えない。番犬にはならないが、お子さんでも安心して触れ合えると思います。

그다지 좋지는 않음

이 숙소의 장점은 저렴한 가격에 역 근처의 숙소를 이용할 수 있다는 것이고 그 외에는 전부 단점이라고 볼 수 있다. 방에 들어갔을 때도 머리카락이 떨어져 있어서 청결도 면에서는 불합격이라고 볼 수 있고 공용 목욕탕도 1970년대의 느낌을 연상케하는 시설이다. 다만 여관 주인이나 스태프는 친절한 편이고 일찍 와서도 짐을 맡기고 돌아다닐 수는 있다. 참고로 가을에만 와도 밤에 잘 때 추워서 얼어죽을 수 있으니 추운 시기에는 피하는 것이 좋다. 실질적으로 그다지 추천하지는 않으나 정말 역 근처에 저렴한 숙소를 원한다면 하루정도는 머물만하다.

가격 좋고 위치가 너무 좋아서 후쿠오카 타워도 한번에 가는버스도 있고 택시타고 콜비 포함 2300엔이면 공항까지도 갈 수 있어서 좋습니자.
다만 샤워시설이 적어서 불편하실 수 있는 점 참고하시면 좋겠습니다.

好みがわかれる！ツッコミ気質の楽しい人向け。

飲み歩きメインの旅行で駅からも近く、寝るだけで良いと思い安いこちらを利用しました。

老舗でレトロな雰囲気を楽しむには良いですが
部屋は傾いており勾配が強く感じました。
窓も傾いており鍵がかからず隙間があるため風がしっかりはいってきます。

部屋の施錠もして外出したのですが帰ってくると扉はあいていました。荷物などは無事でした。検証してみると強くひっぱると開くようです。
そのためかなのか、隙間風のせいか勾配のせいなのか、就寝時に何度も扉が開いては閉じて落ち着かなかったです。

シャワーも弱く、ドライヤーは吐息のようなそよ風しかでませんでした。備え付けの物で乾かすことはできないと思っていいです。

ある意味、楽しい思い出にはなりました。

ユニークな旅を求めていたり、「寝れたらよい」と割り切っていればぜひ。
小さなお子様がいる家族旅行や女性の旅には不満がでるとおもいます。
またセレモニーな旅行には向かないかなと。

星評価は低くさせていただきましたが
あくまでクオリティとしての評価で、
旅のネタにはなるし、何事も楽しめる人におすすめです！私たちは色んなことにツッコミながらすごせたので楽しかったです。

Dépaysant et sympathique

« Ryokan » dans son jus, les propriétaires sont sympathiques et avenant, les chambres plutôt grande vu le standard japonais. Dormir sur un futon est une expérience en soit, ni inconfortable ni confortable chacune fixera sa décision. J’ai vraiment apprécié la salle de bain typique japonaise, côté douche puis baignoire avec eau à 40 degré qui fait un bien fou. Par contre à mettre au goût du jour.

這應該是我住過最老的旅館,在福岡市區有這樣的老旅館覺得很特別.進門後要按鈴,老闆才會出現,房間在2樓,樓梯有點陡.行李要扛上和下樓,廁所在走廊上,浴室是共用,只有兩間,要登記使用時間,
覺得最棒的是 旅館的日式早餐 .住宿交通和吃東西都很方便.
入住日遇到日本假期,4大1小 睡1間6人和式 房間, 超過5個大人會覺得房間小.

屋台村など近くて、とても良かった。駐車料金で１日¥1.300-取られるのは着いてから知ったからそれは注意してくださいね！ちなみにバイクです！
車の方は隣がコインパーキングになっています！確か、１日２千円くらいだったかと思います！　
　博多に行くことがあったらまた泊まりますね！　　値段以上です！

숙소가 기온역 바로 옆이라 지하철 이동에도 많이 편리합니다

다만 공용 화장실 및 샤워실인 것이 불편합니다.

J'ai passé une bonne nuit au ryokan Yamamoto de Fukuoka. Cependant, certainement à cause du jetlag et de l'excitation, j'ai difficilement trouvé le sommeil.
Les gérants étaient très gentils et m'ont notamment prêté un embout de prise pour que je puisse brancher mon adapteur.

小さい子がいるので①布団で眠れること②家族風呂に予約なく入れること③アンパンマンミュージアムが徒歩圏内にあることが最高でした！
お風呂場にはフェイスタオルだけではなくバスタオルもありました。夜と朝2回も入れて良かったです。
古い建物ではあるので、施設の快適さを求める方には向いていないと思いますが、清掃も行き届いているし、上記の理由で私は満足です。
トイレは共同なので部屋にはありません。

チェックイン時、三回ブザー鳴らしても出て来ない。
やっと出て来たので指摘してもぼけているのか無反応。
そもそも出て来たのもブザーに気付いて出て来たわけではなく、偶々通りかかったからでした。
次に部屋に入ったら手袋が落ちてたし、アメニティは寝巻き以外何も置いてないし、風呂も小タオルだけで、いくら素泊まりとはいえ、これならカプセルホテルに泊まった方がずっとマシだった。

古い建物だけどカビ臭いとか無く清潔でよかった。
Wi-Fiがあって通信速度は低かったみたいだけど問題なく使えた。
アメニティは玄関に歯ブラシのみ。
タオルとか無いので持参した方がいい。
隣の部屋？からイビキが少し聞こえた位で静かだった。眠れない程では無かった。
旅館の方はいい方なんだろうけど、説明が下手なのか、
朝食の時、まず食堂に誰も居ない。
内線で呼んで、どのテーブルに座っていいか確認して、子供の分が無かったので、どうしようかと思っていたら、旅館の方は何も言わず何処かに行ってしまって、椅子とか自分達で準備してたら、子供用の茶碗やフォーク、味噌汁を持ってきてくれた。
廊下にテレビカードを販売してるけど、買わなくてもテレビは観れる。
部屋のカギがあったけどカギはかからなくて貴重品は持ち歩いた。
でも、安価で泊まらせてもらってるので、充分だと思う。
歯磨きが出来る洗面台は部屋に付いてた。
孫のアンパンマンミュージアムに行く為に利用させてもらった。
またアンパンマンミュージアムに行く時は利用させてもらうと思う。
他の宿泊していた家族もアンパンマンミュージアムに来ていた。
子供が小さいとベッドは落ちる心配があるけど、布団を敷き詰めれば皆で寝れてよかった。

立地が魅力的

立地が一番魅力的だと思いました。すぐ近くに山笠が奉納されてる櫛田神社、ふくおか大仏のある東長寺などたくさん神社仏閣があります。
旅館自体は昔からの懐かしい感じの雰囲気で、玄関にはもふもふのわんちゃんがいて癒されました。
朝食を食べましたが、自分にはちょうど良い量で美味しくいただきました。ちなみにご飯は自分でよそって食べましたので自分好みにご飯の量は調整可能です。
全体的に満足でしたが、バスタオルの備えはなくタオルはあるのですが、薄めでゴワゴワしているので気になる人はバスタオルやタオルは持って行った方がよいと思います。

two yrs ago already I went here. it was very comfortable room with hot onsen. it is located nearby subway and canal city and famous shrines. breakfast was very excellent also. only one bad thing is getting to the toilet as it is far from the room but anyway it is still nice ryokan and I hope to go there again someday.

Dålig lukt i korridorerna

Ofräsch lukt (av gammal mat?) i hotellkorridorerna. Den äldre herren som tog emot oss talade ingen engelska och kunde inte hitta vår bokning, vilket ledde till närmare 30 minuters förvirring. Observera att gästerna har gemensamma badrum och toaletter på hotellet. Frukosten var dock klart över förväntan. Läget i närheten av Canal City är naturligtvis också ett plus.

our room was really small (3x3m maybe). we saw that not all rooms are as tiny as ours so maybe we just got unlucky.
the smoking room has place for 2 people but you will hit your head if you are tall.
we both couldn't sit normally on the toilet because the toilet rooms are quite tiny too (we're about 1,72m and 1,82m).
there are only two showers(or baths really) so sometimes there was a queue in front.
we only speak broken japanese so if you have any questions for the host, who doesn't speak english, you won't get a real answer. he was trying his very best though!!! so i guess it's best if you can talk (better) japanese if you want to come here.
there's a very cute and friendly dog in the lobby! (he sometimes pees in a corner there :/....but they always wash it away, so there's no smell or something.)
i saw a lot of people say it's like a labyrinth, but it's not that bad and you get used to it really quickly.
they give you fresh hot water in your room daily for tea and a yukata.

0時を過ぎてのチェックインでしたが、気持ちよく対応していただきました。部屋は早くから暖房をいれて、温めて下さっていました。お風呂とトイレ、洗面所は共用で、お部屋の外にあります。イメージとしては、田舎の友達のご実家に泊めていただいた、という雰囲気でした。入浴は0時までということで翌朝になりました。家族湯で、朝からきれいなお湯が張ってありました。シャンプーやボディソープなどのクオリティはやや残念でしたので、ご自分で用意された方がよいかもしれません。朝食をお願いしていたのを失念していたのですが、電話で知らせていただきました。

위치는 정말 좋은 것 같습니다. 추위를 싫어하는 저에게는 방도 따뜻해서 편안했구요. 조식은 100점 만점에 80점 정도? 다만, 저희가 갔을 때 할아버지께서 벨소리를 잘 못들으시는지 아무도 안나오시고, 앞에는 큰 개가 앉아있어서 한 5분정도 기다렸어요. 편안하게 하룻밤 잠만 자기에는 가격대비 괜찮은듯 합니다.

Nous avons attendu 45 minutes avant que quelqu'un apparaisse à l'accueil.
C'est un méandre de chambres , et a notre connaissance nous avons vu que deux douches pour toute l'auberge, et pour finir plus d'internet dans notre chambre pendant 2 jours.
En revanche l'auberge est parfaitement placé.

기온역에서 걸어서 3분거리 및 캐널시티도 걸어서 갈 수 있는거리 수준입니다. 일본 전통의 느낌이 나는 다다미시설이라서 일본느낌을 그대로 받기에는 좋고 주인장님들도 굉장히 친절하셔서 좋았습니다. 아침 조식은 먹는걸로 했는데 기본적인 일본 가정식이 나오는데 색다른 경험 및 맛도 나쁘지 않았습니다. 단점은 방이 조금 춥습니다. 추위 잘타는분들은 자기 힘들 수도 있습니다. 이불이 굉장히 두껍고 몸에 열이 많은지라 전 잘만 했는데 여자친구는 추위를 조금 탔습니다. 그 이외의 시설은 다 만족스럽습니다. 있을거 다 있어요
