Noisy, bad location, the beach nearby was not nice, and the food was average at best. Maybe a good place for families with young kids - they had an active kids zone and free activities for kids. I wouldn’t recommend it for relaxation or luxury by any means.

Loved this family friendly hotel. Our room was spacious with a separate bedroom for our two kids. Lots of pools to choose to relax beside with a cocktail in hand while the kids played and made new friends. Food at the restaurants was delicious! You could get massages/hair braiding by the beach or head out to one of the shops outside the hotel along the road and get one.
There were a few basic markets for Knick knacks and a shopping centre nearby. Heading to Patong was a scenic 20-30 minute drive depending on traffic.
Would love to come back and stay here again one day!

This is a resort that looks like a Caribbean all-inclusive resort. The breakfast buffet is very nice and has a lot of variety. The beach is not as published in the pictures, the water is darker and when we were there high winds and red flag did not allow us to swim. The pools and amenities for children are perfect. It has pool bars and food service in restaurants and room. It also has a self laundry in the property. Prices are a little high inside but service is nice. You have a supermarket in front for small shopping and/or liquor.

Room was honestly so dirty, hotel is a bit like one you would find in Benidorm. Some staff were nice but most were rude! Would never ever stay here again. Hard to get taxis because traffic is so busy. Also the noise levels keeps you away all night long

The resort is entirely self-contained, with 8 pools, 3 bars, 2 restaurants, a gift shop, a medical clinic, laundry facilities, game equipment, and of course, a beautiful beach. The hotel staff are friendly and courteous. It was a great value for the money.

Overall we had a enjoyable stay and would love to go back one day. There was a massage hut near the beach which was reasonablely priced and it was amazing to be able to walk on the beach from the hotel. We did experience some issues with the airconditioner (in the second room), blockage of the toilet and shower drain. The response from the staff was extremely effecient, polite and followed through until the issue was resolved.

We chose this resort to have a restful couple of days after a long time on the road and it was the perfect choice. There are 4 pools and we had a room on one which was very quiet. The kids and their families were staying in other wings. In fact, I could say that our pool was one of the best resort pools I've been in.
The staff were extremely helpful and as well as the restaurants on site, there are couple more just across the road.
We were very happy with our choice and if we go back to Phuket, I'd be happy to stay there again.

We found our room a bit noisy at night and posted that out to the staff and they moved us right away. Super service. Very friendly staff, both local and activity team for kids. Perfect that they remove towels from sunbeds before 9.30 if your not there. Lovely beach with plenty restaurants with both local meals and also \"kids menu\". I would come back if going to Bangtao again.

This property is amazing right on the beach, with a great lush layout and many pools for the entire family. They pay close attention to keeping htis place upkept and clean. The location is on a pretty quiet beachfront still and away from most things which we liked. If I had to add feedback, adding a bit more options to the restaurant and maybe a splash pad for kids. I will be back!

We came with our toddler and found the resort to be very tailored to families. The pools have great features for little ones (ours was 22 months at the time), including lots of shallow areas, a water slide, rain mushroom, etc. Being directly on the beach makes it easy to enjoy the sand without having to pack a huge beach bag. Small playground at Miniland - we did not use it much. Plenty of high chairs for breakfast, and we rented one for under 400 baht for the week for our room too. Too bad one of the two restaurants was closed. But we just walked down the beach and found lots of other options (shout out to Beach Bar & Grill for more kid-friendly amenities). No bathtub, but they gave us a baby bathtub to use. Lots of supplies at the on-site minimart (diapers, snacks, toys, wine for mama). Our only challenge was regulating the temperature in our rooms (either too cold or AC would cut off).

Excellent hotel. Very friendly staff. Rooms spotless and quiet. Unfortunate septic smell from frain in room most days. Excellent aircon. Lots of children so a great place for families. Only small negative is no happy hour and very high prices at pool bar.... hence for the week we were there we rarely saw anyone use the bar or interact. We stayed at another resort for our 2nd week in Bangtao and because their prices were reasonable and they also had happy hour.... there was always people using the pool bar services. This then helped people interact and created a happy vibe.

1. smoking around the pool, 'some' people had e-cigarettes and doing this around children which is one of my bugbears. No policing of this at all.
2. Our room was a little musty and l think it was coming from the aircon
3. The massage service was was not as relaxing as you would expect as the therapist talked the entire time to her colleague. Also the first lady was heavy set and felt like a whale sitting atop of me, yes she actually sat resting on her privates. yuk!
Overall it's a well run operation it seems, and l am sure they will get to read this honest appraisal.

Beautiful Hotel Directly on the Beach
Beautiful hotel with 4 pools, swim-up bar, directly on the beach with private beach, clean large rooms, great value for the cost. Massage session offered right on the beach, so relaxing with the sound of the waves hitting the shore. This hotel is one of the best we have seen designed for a family with children and is geared towards taking your children, but if you are traveling as a couple and don't want a party hotel with loud disturbing music then this is great place to stay as well!

This was definitely not a 4 star hotel. It was run down, old and, dingey. I am alright with hotels being old, but the cleanliness and hygiene were definitely not up to standards. The buffet and kitchen were filthy. The warmer where the pancakes, crossiants was filthy, plates, cups, saucers were disgusting. It was over run with rude Europeans who treated the staff horribly. The staff were not friendly and did not greet us with the Thailand smile. They seemed over worked and under appreciated. Overall a horrible experience! Shame on Hotels.com! We paid a premium price for an inferior hotel.

Great location and facilities. Beach is beautiful and a short walk to restaurants, shops and bars. My children loved the pools. Only negative is that the staff were so unfriendly and seemed sick of children or any request we might make. Definitely not my usual experience of Thailand where everyone is so friendly.

Good Value for Families who like Swimming
Our room was large with a day bed and several chairs as well as a kingsize double and there was plenty of space for my toddler to play. There were lots of mosquitoes in our room when we arrived, but we asked the staff to provide a plug-in mosquito repellent and some spray for the room and it was dealt with efficiently. The air-conditioning was effective and we enjoyed the TV and free wifi. The main disappointment was that I had booked a room with a bathtub, described in my booking as a “deep soaking bathtub” and I was looking forward to enjoying relaxing baths. The room only had a shower, and even that had very low water pressure. I felt that the website I booked on was misleading customers by promising a bathtub, as I probably wouldn’t have chosen a hotel with shower only.
Our room was on the ground floor and right next to the family swimming pools and children’s playground, which was very convenient for us with a toddler. We enjoyed swimming and going on the water slides. The waves were too big for us to swim in the sea, and there was nowhere to sit on the beach.
Overall, I like the Sunwing concept of a family resort and it was certainly good value for money. The pools, children’s activities and general size and layout of the resort made it a fun place to stay and very convenient with a child. I’m not sure I would return to this particular hotel with its relatively isolated location and issues described above, but I would certainly consider another Sunwing holiday.

great place for family & kids
the hotel is great, especially the swimming pool is made for kids, our kids enjoyed the time very well and also the activities that happen throughout the day for kids was good as well. Internet did not work well, they need to improvise on this, being a 4 star hotel wifi is basic and should work well. Overall the experience was great getaway and our family enjoyed well.

(We were here last June and stayed at a 5 star beachfront resort in Kata.) Compared to the other resort we stayed at in June (which was A LOT more expensive), I thought this one was a WAY better value. The other resort had some nicer amenities (more onsite restaurants, free wifi throughout, private beach, poolside service for the bar/lunches, and an amazing breakfast), but the rooms here were just as nice (if not nicer). The grounds at the Sunwing were equally as beautiful, the beach had less \"debris\" / trash on it, and the pool area was way bigger (although the pool water WAY too warm). If I had to choose between the two resorts, I would only choose the 5 star one over the Sunwing IF the price were the same or close to it. It was not worth the extra $100 a night! Overall, the pros of the Sunwing are: proximity to airport, cost, value, nice pool, beautiful grounds, excellent beach (for swimming), excellent kid's club, good on-site entertainment, good (hot) breakfast with LOTS of (American, European, & Thai) options, & nice modern rooms with comfy beds. Cons: pool is WAY too warm to enjoy, LOTS of small children / families (if not your thing), distance from Phuket town, limited dining choices outside resort / within walking distance.

I didnt enjoy my stay at sunwing. I found it over priced for what you get ( stayed earlier in a resort at Karon for alot cheaper and alot better value). It was very crowded and noisy, with dated rooms and staff that were not very helpful and just a bit miserable. The Bang tao beach was nice though, ended up spending alot of our time there.

Stay away from the pool bar.
Bang Tao beach is very nice, although not in a good area. There are a few good restaurants nearby, as well as great markets a kilometre away on Monday & Thursday evening. About a 10 minute taxi ride away is the area called Laguna, where there's heaps of great restaurants and bars. Especially the Siam Supper Club. The hotel itself, is great for kids, but don't go there for a romantic getaway. The restaurant has good food and it's not expensive. There's lots of water sports, which if course you pay extra for, but cheaper than in Australia.

Sunwing bangtao stay.
Was great overall just not cool coming back to our room the on day late and it was not cleaned had to get someone in from hotel service after 10 pm go clean linen Si we could sleep no apologie was given by staff but it we then sorted out. A lot of maintenance work was being done and building work during stay. A sewerage linger stayed at resort the entire stay. But other than those issues was a good stay at resort.

Great resort for families
Stayed there for 5 days and had a great time. We have three kids and this place was perfect for us. Resort has 5 pools of which one has a slide for kids, a great restaurant that has good choices for picky kids, and a kids center. Beach is also there and staff are very helpful. There is also a small shop with all the basic needs. I would definitely go again.

Everything is excellent except reception, reception staff is cold comparing to outrigger beach resort we stayed before, but the staff in the restaurant and towel pavilion are very nice. This is a paradise for kids.
Have a small pantry which containing microwave, dishes, knife and forks. Can smoke in the balcony.Have sofa beds for children, extra bedsheets and blankets are already made availble in the room. Swimming pool and room are not as big as Kamala but sufficient for kids. Beach is just outside the swimming pool.
Good beach with sunset view from the resturant with breeze. Pool condition is good with plam tree/coconut tree around. Must walk out to the beach to view the sunset. Free Wifi is availble at the Lobby, need to pay 100B/hour if you use their computer installed in the lobby.
There is only one restruant outside the hotel otherwise you have to hire a TUKTUK (100B) to the small shopping area which have a supermarket, pizza, phyarmcyramachy a few shops. There is two small restruant on the beach but I heard two tourist were complanting they were over-charged. Far from Patong Beach, if you are looking for some night life, shopping... this hotel may not be your choice. There is a small store in the hotel, you can buy all necessary stuffs there. Casual beach massage is availble in reasonable price (all listed), 300b for Thai massage and 400b for oil massage. I have enjoyed Aloe message at 400b but it smell was Mint, anyway not bad for me. Spa message is also availble but i did not join.

Nice resort but a check-in nightmare
We stayed in sunwing with my parents and 5 yr old nephew for 3 nights. The check-in was a nightmare - they gave us a room on 3rd floor with no lift even despite requesting for an easy access room since my mom cannot climb stairs. They ruthlessly and rudely made all of us wait for 5 hours!!!! before a convenient room was given. The staff was extremely rude and non accommodating and was indifferent to my old parents and small kid sitting in the lobby endlessly.
After this it was comparitively a smooth stay, the food was ok.
It is heavenly for kids as they have no. of entertainment programs and play area and the private beach added to that.

Great family resort on Andaman Sea
Great family resort, lots of kids activities, I love Bangtao Beach. Much quieter than other areas of Phuket. Breakfast was excellent every day. Tons of fresh choices. Ocean was a bit stingy. Some said sea lice, others said d jellyfish. Not sure, but it kept our kids out of the ocean. Swedish staff were super fun for our kids and friendly.

A nice hotel but too many extra charges
Great resort with many beautiful pools but we paid a huge price to stay. Once we arrived we were told breakfast wasn't included, we had to pay extra for internet, coffee and tea was not replaced in the room and had to buy at their mini mart, extra charges for kids activities and no free shuttle into town. We spent two weeks travelling through phuket and this resort was the only resort that charged for these additional things which we believe should be part of the large nightly cost. Some of the hotel desk help staff were a little rude. So overall a beautiful resort but overpriced and I felt like just another paying number. Staff lacked effort in making you feel welcomed and comfortable. I won't be returning.

Family with Older Kids (8 and 11)
This is really amazing family vacation spot. Our kids (ages 8 and 11) begged us to stay longer than we thought as they met other wonderful kids, enjoyed all the activities run by an energetic, international staff and played all day long. There are plenty of great things for the adults to do as well and in the evening, the show is great fun. Overall, we would love to return to this or another Sunwing resort!

Kids running amok
This hotel was full of unruly children and there was a contagious bug being spread by infected children via the pool. I am upset that we were not advised by any method other than a Thomas Cook notice in the mini market and one other place. There was no dress code for dinner and we sat next to a child who was not wearing underpants and who went on to urinate on the floor and the chair at the table next to us. The Hotel and Staff were fantastic but their clientele is the reason that I would never stay there again.

Short visit to Bangtao Beach
We booked three nights to visit quiet Bangtao beach in Phuket. I didn't realise that this hotel is a family resort meaning that almost every room included at least one kid. Resort was great, everything worked, breakfast wasn't included, but basically you cannot relax within this resort as the pool / beach / everywhere there is running and screaming kids around.

Did the research on Phuket and this place appealed to me. The resort was everything I expected. Staff, room, food, pool, beach were great. The beach was nice, the water warmer than I expected. Very nice surprise. Enjoyed swimming. Weather was hot and humid with a good breeze made it relaxing.

Fantastic Family Friendly Resort
Great place for a family friendly holiday. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it for people without a family, but for families it's just perfect. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms and grounds are all impeccably kept, the restaurant is quite good and overall it's a great value. We had a really, really excellent stay.

We stayed at sunwing bang tao for our last three nights in Phuket after Kata and Kamala. It was lovely and relaxing stay. Close to the beach and great swimming pools. We also hired a motorbike for riding around the town for meal and shopping as the hotel is quite away for walk.

Great value family resort
We stayed 7 nights at this Sunwing. Our kids (6 & 4) loved the different pools and the hotel caters well for all ages with its pool facilities. We had a 2 bed/2 bath suite which was great for space, however one shower leaked badly around the base and on close inspection cleaning isn't thorough. Food was ok, good value with kids eating free from a limited menu. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a quiet area this is a good choice. Most guests are from Nordic region who are quite abrupt, but staff were generally lovely but a bit limited with English. Beware alcohol can't be bought outside hotel before 5pm as the nearest supermarket is a fair walk away (not suitable for small kids unless in stroller). We found a week was plenty here. But overall enjoyable, particularly for the kids. Research the area beforehand to find alternative places for eating etc as little info at hotel.
