Great place with excellent transport and great breakfast selection. Beware being charged for water in fridge. No signs to suggest that the small bottles were not complimentary as they are in any other hotels I’ve stayed at. However we were charged €3 for each bottle we drank which seemed a sneaky cost added to the bill without warning.

The hotel is located in a very quiet area of the Lido island. The room was clean and confortable. The personnel was very attentive and helpful in answering our questions or request. Breakfast is buffet style and plentiful : fresh fruits, cereals, cheeses, different cuts of ham, pies and cakes, etc. We really enjoyed our stay at the Viktoria Palace Hotel.

Lido’s treasure

We’ve been going to Lido and staying at Victoria Palace Hotel for 8 years now. The place is situated in a quiet location opposite the lagoon. You get to see all the ships come and go as well as the wonderful sunset over Venice. The hotel is beautiful, spotless, the staff are great and very welcoming. We look forward to our annual visit next year.

Bus stop directly in front of the hotel, property directly in front of the water, nice Venetian style rooms, friendly staff, short boat ride to San Marco area of Venice, wonderful locals nearby and great price! I can't say enough about Viktoria Palace Hotel. We would definitely stay here again.

The room was supposed to be non smoking however it was heavily smoked and the staff did not do anything about it. we had reserved a room for four people but they simply had taken away the tables of a two person room a small room with queen size bed, and replaced it with two portable beds. there was no room enough even for our luggage or even not bumping to each other. the beds were so close we practically were sleeping on the same bed. very uncomfortable. it was a 2 star hotel i cant believe they had a 4 star on them , no coffee or tea. there was no furniture in the room!

Like: Convenient location
Dislike: Lack of Emergency Response Plan. One person was injured the night before my departure from the hotel and I had to rush her and her husband to the hospital in my car because the clerk did not know what to do. The hotel should have a direct line with the hospital and other emergency services in case this kind of events occur again.

The position of the hotel is stunning overlooking the lagoon into Venice itself.there is no evening meal but you can reach the center if town from a bus stop outside

What really made our stay great was how helpful and friendly everyone was from the reception to the breakfast waitress.
You can’t always say that about Italian hotels and bars but it was certainly true about the Victoria

We were very pleased with the Viktoria Palace Hotel, and would recommend the hotel. Located on the island of Lido, it allows you a break from the hustle and bustle of Venice. The bus service from the Lido water dock to the Viktoria Hotel is very easy, and efficient. Only thing to consider is there are no restaurants located around the hotel. You will need to plan to eat before heading to Lido, or eat around the water dock area of Lido.

Would recommend!

Loved the island of Lido and this hotel was conveniently located right in front of a bus stop. Depending on what time of day, the bus route would either drop you off right in town or take the long route to the beach then to town. The rooms were nice and the view of the ocean was beautiful. Beds could be softer and the pillows could be more fluffy. But overall it was wonderful. Breakfast was great. Highly recommend!

The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful and always on hand. There was a good choice for breakfast. The garden was well equipped and very peaceful.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed.
If you are coming by car, you need to pay 80 euros for ferry.
Far from boat station 3 euros by bus each way
Wanted a twin room and they asked for another 70 euros.
There is no restaurant or grocery store was open when we arrived.
There is nothing around the hotel except graves.
Breakfast were nothing to mention about.
2 and half star hotel at the most

Beautiful hotel but a distant location

This hotel was very beautiful, clean and provided a decent breakfast. The only issue was its location. It is in Venice, but on the separate island of Lido. Plus, it was on the far end of the Lido Island. This left us with a 1+ mile walk to the water taxi/bus dock. There were buses that ran from the hotel to the dock, but only every 30 minutes. Then you have a 20 minute boat ride to the main part of Venice. We enjoyed it, but be prepared for the additional time to commute to tours etc.

Awesome place to stay, just far

The hotel is incredibly nice! The staff will do whatever they can to make your stay awesome. The hotel was just far away. The first mistake we made was taking a taxi boat, costed 80 euros to get over there. Take public transportation! Right when you get out of the train station to your right is an information desk, go there and ask for help on how to get to hotel. It was about a 35 minute water bus ride from hotel. But first you either have to walk to bus stop or get a land bus. The land bus stop is right in front of hotel and takes about 5 minutes to get to water bus. If you walk to the water bus station it is about a 20 minute walk, very beautiful.

It was worth the stay and I would do it again. If you plan on partying late in Venice, I would not stay at this hotel. It gets difficult to get back.

Short stay. Staff at hotel friendly and helpful. Facilities are limited. Breakfast basic. Did not have evening meal at hotel so cannot comment. No communal areas in the hotel to sit and have a drink light snack or relax other than outdoors. No food seems to be served other than breakfast and evening meal. Rooms are clean but AC patchy also picked up quite a few insect bites(some at hotel and some rest of trip to Venice). WFI good. Location of hotel not ideal, not much to do in area of hotel without taking ferry boat to other islands .

We stayed in the Hotel Viktoria for a weekend, the hotel was really quiet, bar was not open, restaurant only used for breakfast which was basic. There was a menu for evening meals but never saw anyone eating there. The local transport was very good with buses every 10 minutes and the river buses were also regular.

Lovely stay at charming hotel. Staff helpful and friendly. We loved the quietness of it all after a busy day sight seeing. The Bus stop outside meant we cd be at the water bus station in five mins.

Views on to Lido from waterside rooms great. Garden lovely to sit out in on aft. Prefer this to a hotel in lido town.

Would like it if extended breakfast hours so could sleep later on a morning.

My teen sons loved the place.

One of the nicest hotels I have stayed at in a while. For the price, it can't be beat! The hotel is practically brand new but it has the feeling of old school elegance. Great breakfast included. I cannot say enough about how nice the experience was. Will definitely consider staying there again on my next trip to Venice.

This hotel is waterfront, but don't be fooled like we were. It is FAR from everything!! (20-30 min walk to ferry-there's a bus but it stops running at midnight).

This is definitely not 4 star material...maybe 2 1/2 at most. The rooms are very small and dirty (ants everywhere) and they like to give only one towel per room. They had the nerve to ask us why we wanted another for 2 people!!

Also, they were super annoying with any guest you brought to the room. Asking to take and hold their passport and told us that all guests must leave by midnight. I felt like I paid to be in a college dorm/upscale prison.

Charming but Far

This is the hotel for (1) someone looking for peace and quiet away from the crowds (2) those who don't mind a long walk to get virtually anywhere. It's a 25 minute walk from the closest water bus stop and another 15-? minutes to get to central venice (depending when the next bus comes). The bus comes infrequently enough to be nearly useless.

The hotel itself was charming. I'm not sure how it qualifies as a 4 star but my room was quite nice (and clean), but some of the appliances no longer worked. (ie- the heat). The staff was extremely helpful and friendly though.

Good for the Lido

Room could have been bigger & cleaner (dead bugs on wall) but very affordable for Venice. It's quite far from the part of the Lido where the vaporettos come and the restaurants are, about a 25 min walk. There is a bus also. Staff very nice; wifi free but a little spotty - I was in the farthest room and could not get it on my phone. Mostly a pleasant experience.

I like the hotel was clean and breakfast was like buffet. You need to take bus for 5 minutes from lido station. It is situated at the one end of lido. Night time walking was scary after 8 pm. Four star hotel at good price near Venice. You need to take ferry 45 minutes from centre Venice. I like lido I will stay in lido again because Venice itself is too tight and too expensive to stay.

It was beautiful. Short bus ride from where the water taxi dropped us off. Room was large and looked out to the back yard that had quality patio furniture to sit and relax on. Wifi worked great, and we had a complimentary breakfast that was quite the spread. I will definitely stay there again.

Room allocation not as stated by expedia

The Hotel has an annex located alongside the main building. When we arrived we were told that our room was in the annex.
The annex is a small building with approximately 5 rooms. The room we were allocated had a fairly large hallway, with a large bedroom to the right and a small bathroom directly in front of the entrance door.
The hallway had a large wardrobe with a safety deposit box within.
The bedroom was large with two chairs and a large dressing table with drawers, a television and bedside tables.
The bathroom had a very small bath that you could only sit in with a mixer shower attachment, toilet, bidet and washbasin.
The TV was freeview terrestrial Italian channels as you would expect, however the description in the hotel booklet was that it had satellite tv with the availability of sky news etc, The room was dowdy and outdated whilst the floor was cleaned and the bed regularly changed, the furniture appeared to have never had a wipe down with evidence of dirty spills etc.
The bathroom shower had the control knob missing making it extremely difficult to operate as it repeatedly returned without assistance back to the bath tap mode stopping the shower whilst you were in it.
The toilet seat was loose and almost falling off.
The washbasin taps when turned on may have filled a tea cup after about ten minutes (So Slow) and had no running hot water. Oh the free wi-fi worked well.
The pictures on the internet does not show any of the rooms in the annex where we were.

Not prepared for check-out surprise

Room excellent for price and location. Breakfast buffet was good. Never ate dinner at the hotel, so can't comment. Surprise came when I stopped at hotel desk to pay for a bottle of water that I took out of the 'fridge on our way out of the hotel. I wasn't aware of any other fees/taxes due. When we checked in, there was no mention of any other fees/taxes that were due. Usually, we don't stop for a check-out when we know everything is paid for, however, in trying to pay for the water we were informed that there was an unpaid city tax. I was confused b/c I swore that when I paid on-line it said all taxes were paid. I tried to get on-line, but the internet service there really, really sucks. I got frustrated and complained about the 'net service and asked why didn't they tell us when we checked in? Regardless, it was later that evening somewhere else in Italy when I was finally able to check. Sure enough, buried in the Hotels booking literature, it states that \"some\" taxes might be due on check-out.

Only dissatisfaction is that I was not informed that the hotel is on the island; also was no need for me to pay 150 euro to take my car on the ferry fort and back; also I was charged for ferry fees on top of the ferry fees(for the car). Lovely, peaceful hotel.

The hotel itself is lovely although the lack of a lounge was slightly disappointing. There was no tea or coffee in the room or anywhere we could go and get some outside mealtimes. Breakfast could have been a little more substantial.

The rooms are very comfortable and have great views either over the lagoon ( sadly not ours) or over the back gardens (ours and absolutely stunning in the early mist).

Transport is great as the bus comes past regularly but the walk into the town centre is better - quiet and scenic!

Loving Lido

We stayed in Lido at the Viktoria Palace Hotel in order to be away from the hectic atmosphere in Venice. It's a 15 minutes vaporetto ride from Venice but so worth it as this hotel was clean, charming, served a great buffet breakfast, and had extremely friendly hotel staff. Take the local bus from the vaparetto station and it will drop you off in front of the hotel - very convenient both ways as it comes ~ every 20 minutes. They also serve great dinners with, once again, very pleasant staff that all speak/understand English-speaking guests. We highly recommend this hotel.

Good place to stay in the Venice area

Good economical place to stay. Breakfast is good, dinner is bad and too expensive. Don't eat dinner at the Hotel unless you have no choice. The room was clean, however the bathroom was very small. A car is very helpful and very convenient to have. There is a bus stop right across from the hotel. It is also easy to get on the car ferry and it is an enjoyable boat ride. Some very good restaurants available on the main street in Lido.

I booked 3 hotels using hotels.com in my 15 day trip to italy. I really loved the 2 hotels and this hotel was the worst. I stayed here for 3 days in an uncleaned room. The day we moved in, we found the floor was full of sand. They did not clean the floor for sure. The air conditioning was fair, breakfast was good and the location was really away. The place was calm but its kinda secluded at nights, you have to wait and take the bus to gran viale or the vaparetto stops. You can goto the beach on the other side but you shd take 2 buses and it takes some time. The toilet was very very small- the tub hardly fits one person, we had a tough time bathing. I did not like the hotel mainly for its poor cleanliness,toilet and location.

Great hotel - ideal for visiting Venice.

Hotel was great. A 5-star breakfast, friendly and helpful staff and the room was clean and comfortable. The only surprise was that we weren't in the main building (i.e. the posh part) but in a separate annex just next door. This was noticeably less plush than the main hotel but gave us no reason to gripe. A 15-minute walk (or 2-minute bus ride) to the main water taxi stop and from there, another 10 minutes to Venice - ideal for those wanting a nice place to stop, within easy reach of Venice but away from the hustle, bustle and noise! Highly recommended.

A nice hotel, out of the way but within easy reach of the city. The rooms were nice but noise travelled easily throughout the hotel. The sounds of the reception telephone and early morning starts for tour groups made for unwelcome wake-up calls. Lovely garden in which to sit and read.

Delightful surprise

This hotel exceeded our expectations. It overlooked the venice lagoon and the st mark's tower can be seen across the water. The views are amazing. Quite neighbour. Access on the water bus and another bus/ walk from the vaporetto station. Took us about 2 hours to get to the hotel from the airport as we did not want to spend €100 on the water taxis. We took the water bus from P Roma along the grand canal and the views were spectacular! We had an annexed room which was separate from the main building and over looked the garden. We only spent one night as we were setting sail on a Costa Cruise. Will stay here again if we travel back to Venice. Breakfast was more than adequate. The price was very reasonable but we were asked to pay an additional unexpected hotel tax per person in cash. This amounted to about €5-6.

Delighted with the hotel, the staff, and Venice

A really lovely hotel in a nice quiet location with lovely grounds and outlook, perfect if you want to stay away from the bustle and noise of main Venice, the Expedia photos and description don't do it justice.
The rooms are very nicely decorated and furnished, bathrooms perfect, and staff very friendly and helpful. Good buffet breakfast on sunny terrace, and good value dinner with lovely chef. Town center quite close if you want to go out for the evening.
A quick bus ride from the Lido Water Bus terminal, the Water Bus ride into Venice is a great way to start the day, you go down the whole route of the Grand Canal and see all the main sites on the way in, and the Water Buses come every five minutes or so (get a travel card at the airport and all travel is paid for).
Our first time in Venice, loved all of it and couldn't recommend the hotel or the location or Venice highly enough, everything was much much nicer than most European holidays we have had.

don't try walking to it with your bags

Be sure to take the bus after the ferry- it's not close at all. It's a nice quiet location and very relaxing. I thought the main waiter in the restaurant was very grumpy and brought us a plate of noodles with no sauce and veggies piled on top and tried to pass it off as lasagna. Their \"grilled potatoes\" are actually just french fries. Although this wasn't completely the fault of the staff, they didn't do anything to stop a European guest who was clearly smoking heavily in his room and it made the whole hallway unbearable.

Great place to stay in Venice

We enyoyed this hotel. It is out of the way, on the Lido island, and very pleasant. After getting off the vaparetto (water bus), we did not know how to get to the hotel. We found it on the map and walked, about a mile in the heat, dragging our luggage. We did not know that the G or V bus want straight to the hotel. This information would have been helpful, and should be included in the information. The hotel is beautiful, and very quiet. We had an economy room in the annex and did not know what to expect. The room was very nice. The breakfast was very good. The hotel arranged for us to be picked up by a private boat and taken to Murano Island for a tour of a glass foundry and gallery. We enjoyed eating on a main street of the Lido, which was not touristy.

Mid range place that could have been better

This place is a tad far from the sites of Venice but offers decent rates for a clean room. Unfortunately our room's cold water didn't work in the shower and it ended up being a bit of a hassle. The staff is nice enough but they could/should have done more to address the water issue.

Be careful what you book

This hotel has 3 different types of rooms, budget, standard and superior. If you look at the pictures, almost all of them are of superior rooms. The budget rooms are in a separate building from what you see in the pictures of the hotel, and are very dismal. After trying to book a nice romantic weekend, we got to the Lido and had to walk the 30 minutes to the hotel (buses don't run after midnight, and taxis are somewhat hard to find at times. After seeing our room, the only redeeming factor of the hotel came from the helpfulness of the night manager to get us moved to a Superior room. All in all, not very convenient, definitely not a 4 star hotel (at least not when you consider the budget rooms) but the main hotel is clean, cool and tidy. Honestly, I wouldn't stay here again, but that's simply because it took over an hour just to get to Venice during the day, and about 2 hours to get back late at night. Breakfast was OK, room (superior) was reasonably clean, room (budget) was worse than some hostels I've seen. Just remember: buyer beware

great hotel - inconvenient to get to

This hotel was beautiful. My only complaints were the floor needed cleaning int he room and that you had to take the ferry across the canal to get to the hotel on Lido Island. Otherwise, perfect!

Great hotel, not great location

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is a 20 min walk from the port or a 5 min bus ride but easy to find. The room was a little old but clean enough and very quiet. The buffet breakfast was brilliant, and I can't rate the hotel staff highly enough, sooo helpful and friendly. The hotel has a lovely restaurant for dinner which is good because there's nothing else around unless you walk back to the port. The restaurant was a very high standard and it all goes on your room charge.
The island of Lido was cheaper to stay on than Venice but still there's nothing there to do, so to see anything you have to get on a boat. I booked this hotel based on the reviews given on Trip Advisor and it was well-recommended.

too cold

granted, it was one of the coldest winters in recent history, but the hotel was not prepared for it. The heating system was totally inadequate. We had to sleep in full clothing and thermal underwear to stay warm. Took them two attempts to fix the heater. The television had only one channel and the staff could not figure out how to fix that or get other channels. We were in the Annex, so the main hotel might be different. The room was very small and the bathroom miniscule. 9 Euros (about $12.00) for one hour of internet use is quite excessive. The breakfast was good. Don't know where the four stars came from.

beautiful hotel

four of us stayed at this hotel for 2 nights and then moved on to another for 2 nights. We would have preferred to have stayed at this hotel. Although it was a bus journey to the hotel from the water bus staion it was only about 4 stops and the buses were very regular. We had rooms with views looking in the direction of St Marks Square which was very interesting. The hotel was very clean and the guy on the desk helpful. We would certtainly stay there again

Lovely hotel opposite lagoon; 20 min walk from ferry along waterfront or 3 min bus ride to front door.
Attractive room with balcony and beautiful view. very restful after the hurly-burly of central Venice.

Lovely hotel in quiet area

This is an elegant hotel in a quieter area of the Lido. It is beautifully furnished and attractive. Breakfast is good and can be eaten on the terrace overlooking the water.

Viktoria Palace Hotel in Lido, Venice

This is a great place to stay if you want a quiet get away from the crowds of Venice. Easy access with the water taxi or the ferry if you have a car.
