Clean, well appointed, super quiet. Very pleasant landscaping/yard with a babbling brook and seating in the tree areas. Lots of games all over the inn. Cozy bed. coffee makers and refrigerator supplied. No restaurant on site.

Beautiful place, but had a problem that warranted a full refund. I was only given 35% discount for a problem that 100% their fault. We left a day early ( it was our anniversary, the reason we went) and weren’t given a refund for big problem with our accommodations. No one wants to leave a celebration weekend without a good reason. Was so disappointed in their lack of reimbursement for a problem that wasn’t at all our fault. They did apologize but still should have taken total responsibility.

The happy hour charcuterie was delightful! We stayed in \"Jonathan.\" Know that you will hear the people next to you with thin walls as it's sandwiched between Sweet Bough and Cortland. Our Champagne was not present at arrival, but they brought! And the breakfast basket, arrived 30 minutes beyond the time we requested. It was great though! The bathroom was clean, yet the door needed oiled (very squeaky) and the light above bath tub was not working. No fan extractor, so open the window which could be tough on a cold day. They provide you boxes of incidentals, but no shower cap. The high windows are lovely to look at, just realize the sun will wake you up at sunrise if you're a light sleeper. A couple of water bottles would have been a nice added touch. Otherwise you are drinking from the sink. The three large bottle bath products on tub ledge are covered by bathe tub curtain liner. It was cumbersome to pump as you tried to get to the pump. The bath bottles are too big to place anywhere in the tub area. The water pressure was fantastic yet know that the water in sink and tub will scald if not careful. Amazed they didn't have a temp regulator for that. Our room was clean, other than some detailed dusting that I took notice. The bed & pillows were very comfortable and robes were cozy. A mini dish soap would have been a nice addition to rinse out and reuse glasses. We'll return and just choose another room!

Very cute, boutique hotel with large property. There is a main lodge and several casita's. We stayed in the main lodge, it's very nice, quiet, clean and comfortable. The rooms are well appointed, beds are comfortable and staff were very friendly.

Trouble receiving extra towels. One key provided to enter hotel room. Restroom vent didn’t work properly. Broken shutters near bed/sleeping area. Could not properly see TV from bed. No Microwave to warm food. Trouble opening door, old door knobs. Over all, hotel stay not worth the price paid.

1- The Hotels.com site did not show that our Lodge room 7 was on the second floor with no elevator (I am disabled and use a walker), nor that no dogs were allowed there. But the hotel staff was very accommodating to allow our dog as an exception, even though we had to use atairs.

2 - The room was lovely, but only had 1 chair which was not comfortable. Our suggestion is to put in one comfortable chair, or two small comfortable chairs, so guests can sit and read or watch TV.

3 - The bathroom could use a towel bar, especially by the sink.

4 - The windows in the upstairs lounge / game room were very dirty.

5 - It would be nice to have one parking space for each Lodge room thst would be located outside the Lodge entrance and not down the hill by the trash bins and staff parking.

6 - We understand there was limited staff on Thanksgiving day, but we wish the main lodge room fireplace was lit longer in the afternoons and evenings of our 4 night stay, as it was a great place to sit and visit or read, but lost its ambience due to no fire.

7 - The main Lodge room was lovely and nicely decorated for the hoiidays.

8 - We appreciate the kind and friendly attention and supoort we received from all of the hotel staff. They were very helpful.

The room was clean, the staff was friendly; however the tv didn’t work for most of our stay, there was poor lighting for reading in bed, the fireplace didn’t work with the remote even after staff came to our cottage to fix it and the toilet ‘ran’ no matter how much we jiggled itt. Just as a heads-up, there are no microwave ovens in the cottages so don’t plan on warming up your Julian pie.

On the flip side, this is our third stay here and the first time that it’s been…unsatisfactory. It is, I understand, under new ownership so maybe they’re still figuring things out. Also, I really missed the Wellness Shot that used to be at the front desk.

Because of staffing issues that seem to be everywhere in Julian there is no chef, so no dinner at the lodge. Also other things like outside BBQs have been eliminated. It is a beautiful property for a small event, but would take some coordination of outside vendors. It is our new favorite.

I'm a city guy and was worried about the lack of options in Julian, CA, which looked like it was, frankly, in the middle of nowhere. There are no big hotels here because it's a small town away from the cities for people to enjoy nature and a quieter vibe.

I paid up to stay at Orchard Hill compared to the other choices around town, and I'm really satisfied with the decision. We stayed in Lodge Room 9, which is one of the rooms in the Main lodge building (as opposed to the individual cottages). In some ways, it felt like a hotel room (albeit only one of ten) because it was in the main lodge. It wasn't really big, but more than adequate for sleeping. It fit two people fine. Definitely not a modern aesthetic (she told me they would upgrade to key cards soon), but everything was clean. There was a small nostalgic TV but we still watched on it from bed. A wall unit A/C. The bathroom had a bright skylight that was cool. Our only small issue was the deadbolt on our door wasn't working well, but the staff noted it for their maintenance staff. The door still locked anyways so we were fine.

The staff were super friendly and nice, and checked on us any time they saw us.

I didn't eat the included breakfast as we only stayed one night and we slept in til checkout time.

All in all, good stay, and would recommend especially if you want something clean and comfortable and if you're used to nicer hotels.

We walked into the beautiful lobby and were greeted by Marta, who offered a veggie and cheese plate and a seat on the patio to unwind.

We dropped off our bags and had a glass of wine to unwind from our drive up on the patio. The air was fresh and clean, and the views are amazing.

We wanted to celebrate a significant birthday and looked at so many different options across Southern California.

However, when we spoke with Orchard Hill--and more specifically, Becky, who gets a special thank you--it just felt so clear that this was going to be the right choice for us.

That absolutely turned out to be true. Our stay was great and everyone we interacted with at the inn was warm, accommodating, and professional.

They even went the extra mile with some really nice touches to add to the birthday celebration.

We couldn't be more thrilled that we chose to spend this special weekend at Orchard Hill.

The hotel grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The room was very small and had broken blinds and broken fan blade missing. There also seemed to be mold spots on the wooden blinds. The rest of the room was clean but there was no fridge and tv was very small if that is something of interest. The building is a historic craftsman and amazing to look at. Loved sitting outside by the fireplace and little river.

I stayed at the property a year ago and I was less impressed this visit. I stayed mid week both visits. The complimentary happy hour and complimentary breakfast is no longer offered. The room was mediocre with inadequate light at the coffee making area. The coffee maker was not properly cleaned, the TV did not work nor did the landline to the front desk. I know these days almost everyone has phones/laptops/computers to access TV and phone; however, it is a nice convivence to have working landline to front desk and a working TV. In general, the room was not well maintained. Was disappointing this visit. It is a beautiful property. It just seemed that it was better cared for a year ago. Front desk staff was very kind and helpful; she came to the room to sweep the desk and remove the spider webs so I could enjoy the outdoors.

Orchard Hill was really nice.. We stayed in cottage Jonagold and it was quiet and private. The view was great too from the patio. We had breakfast one morning here, and it was very good. I just wish they served pancakes, blueberry ones would be nice. Everyone was super nice, including Becky at check-in and Marta at check out. Only a short 5 minute walk to town, which was nice. We went for 4th of July and such a cute fun parade on the 4th. We will definitely be back to Julian and also stay again at Orchard Hill

This was the most surprisingly cute hotel I've ever been in. Everything had so much character from the firepit with surrounding chairs in the courtyard to the adorable rooms and personnel. We loved every second of our stay. Could not recommend it more. We visited for the 4th of July and it was a perfect option. It's so close to the main street that you can park and walk to the parade. Becky checked us in and took a photo of us in our July 4th attire and it came out so great. She was the sweetest. I can't imagine staying anywhere else when I'm in Julian. If you're on the fence, give it a shot. I promise you will be pleasantly surprised

The Orchard Hill hotel is a wonderful property to stay.
The location in Julian, California is perfect at the end of town and in walking distance to all.
It’s quiet, woodsy cozy, elegant country interiors and beautiful outdoor spaces.
Marta was our first hostess and extremely charismatic and knowledgeable giving us tons of information about the hotel and the town.
The jewel of Julian and we are coming back.

This place is a bit of a mess. We came here because they used to have a happy hour with a \"charcuterie board.\" You had to pay for your drinks and there was no meat (look up the definition). They give you credit towards breakfast but there was no breakfast because the chef did not show up! The toilet in our friends' room was broken and it took a while for a manager to show up. This place is expensive and you DO NOT get what you hoped you paid for. I assume this is a sign of poor absentee ownership.

stayed in the lodge (room #6) as the cottages were all booked. the room was nice and comfortable with a huge balcony. we had dinner at the onsite restaurant and the food was really good. also the fact you could leave your vehicle parked at the hotel and walk down to main street was a huge plus because driving around and trying to find parking on the streets was a mess.
