I always say when we stay somewhere its not for the hotel/motel but we do want something clean and safe. Lake Erie Lodge was just that. Its in the perfect location.The man that I talked to in the office while we were there was so nice and helpful. We went on the off season so a lot of things were closed but the things we wanted to do were not far from this location at all. I will definately be looking at the Lake Erie Lodge again when we go back.

When I was able to enter my room with an old-fashioned key, I should have known what I was in for. There were no towels, nor even amy toilet paper. I had to call the hotel to get some brought over. Then I noticed what I thought was a multitude of mold spots all over the bathtub. It turns out those were burn stains from previous occupants. Seriously. Then in the morning when I went to shower I discovered pubic hairs in the back of the shower. But this is nothing for when I discovered human feces (!!!) on the floor next to the toilet! (When I mentioned it at checkout (the guy was AWOL, do I had to wait 15 minutes), all he said was, \"oh, sorry man.\" Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere. Who knows what other evils lurk in this place?!?

The bed is 3 inches from the parking lot, the brown stains on the matress cover corners screamed bed bugs... but i did feed them... because in the 2 minutes we were there, i forgot my crab cakes there. It was a double bummer.

Great location. Close to Waldameer Park, the lake and restaurants. Was quiet when we were there but it was at the end of the season. Room was okay. Nowhere to hang clothing, not enough towels or soap in bathroom, light fixture was old and one side burnt out, fairly clean but floor could have been cleaner as our socks got really dirty. Staff was pleasant but had a hard time obtaining the $100 cash deposit on the room at checkout. Didn't try the pool but things looked a bit neglected. Looked as if they were remodeling the whole place but not sure. Continental breakfast was practically non existent when we arrived at 9 am. It was supposed to be from 8-10. Not sure if will stay there again.

The room did not fit the environment. The bed was comfortable, my husband said the shower was great. The room was large but there was another room that shared the same airlocked entryway and physical keys as the room we were in. There was no dead bolt, no peephole or sliding lock on our room door. Someone knocked on our door around 10pm from inside that shared entryway very creepy. Didn’t get much sleep knowing that someone could walk into our room at any moment. This property has potential to be a beautiful place but it would require a lot of ambition and dedication to bring it about. It may be that the current owner is burned out or not there or both. I do not giving reviews if they are negative but I am going to this time because of the safety issues. If you want a good night sleep stay somewhere else.

We stayed here recently and overall had a decent experience. The room was updated, clean, and looked nice. The location was perfect for visiting Presque Isle, and the price was great for what we got. Our kids loved the pool, and it was a nice bonus.

On the downside, the air conditioner was leaking. We were told someone would come to fix it, but no one actually did. The beds could have been more comfortable, and my mom wasn’t a fan of the pillows.

That said, for the price and location, it was worth it, and we got exactly what we paid for.

Creepy and Waste of Money!

Feels like a ghetto. Don't waste your money. Drive a little farther and pay a little more, trust me!
We stayed one night only because it was late and didn't have any other options. Creepiest hotel I've stayed at. The guy at the front desk is it good worker, but not helpful. Told him we needed to leave after the first night and he said he would talk to \"his people\" , but never got back to us. When I asked him about it again before checkout, he said he would ask, but he doubted they would do anything for me because of the no cancellation policy regardless of reason.

A bit of a let down

The hotel is in a very convenient location if you are going to Presque Isle. The staff was very nice and seemed to be very busy. The room was clean enough other than spiderweb in the bathroom window, The lack of a toilet paper holder in the bathroom I found odd. It was also strange they the room had a piece of furniture to hold the fridge and microwave but they were stacked outside of the bathroom. The pillows were horrible and need replaced. The sheets definitely need upgraded they were cheap and scratchy. Also, it would be really nice if there was two chairs out side of the room. It may seem that I am being nit picky but the stay was not cheap therefore I expected a better overall experience. We will not be staying here again next year.

Looked updated and modern Online. There were holes in walls and old hair and someones fingernails clippings left on the floor hair and stains on the bedsheets. We asked for new sheets and the man said he had to place them on the bed he followed me into my room where my family was staying with out warning I opened the door and told them he’s placing new sheets on the bed awkward!! Beds were uncomfortable pillows thick and uncomfortable as well our necks and backs hurt waking up. Same thing basically happend with towels I asked for he said I had to turn in the old ones and he would get them I quickly ran to the room to get there before him and run to the shower to pick up our wet used towels to hand him. Yuck on his part no gloves no cleaning service? Idk. No sand, just weeds where the volley ball court was. List could go on. Paid for what I got. There was a nice bay and berry in walking distant for breakfast was cute and clean inside. Gas stations less then a block away.

The staff work hard, and they did replace a room refrigerator that wasn't working when we arrived, which we appreciated. The room deposit was returned after check-out as promised.

Though an older motel that might seem faded at first, the rooms have been redone and provide a really great night’s sleep. What seemed to be a new bed with a sturdy mattress made it a very comfortable stay. And, although on a somewhat busy street, it was remarkably quiet. Staff busy, but responsive. I didn’t swim, but others seemed to be enjoying the pool. No complaints. Clean, no frills.

Disgusting!

Stained comforters, old stained mattresses, room not cleaned at all…microwave had not been cleaned for a very long time…it was disgusting. Room had garbage, dust, dirt especially around beds, toilet had urine all over it, I had to clean myself. Bedding had a chemical odor as if they sprayed for bugs. Shower valve missing to pull for shower. It was difficult to use. They took $100 for incidentals and I better get it refunded. Worst stay ever, my young kids were even appalled. Pictures on your site make it seem way nicer. I was taken for a fool to spend that much on a place like that. Never again. I gave them a signed note with all the issues.

This is a nice motel but the owner needs to put money into it. The are charging you the same price as the better hotel but it is just a room. I have been to this place twice in 3 years and it is my last resort because what I paid would have been the same at a better hotel with a complementary breakfast. The ice had a moldy taste. I had to pay a $100 deposit for and damage but the hotel has nothing to damage. The don't even come into your room and clean while you are there. If i would have to stay there again yes if everything else was book like this time.

We checked in and left all in the same ten minutes without a refund. My son’s asthma was set off by the terrible smell of the cleaning products and they refused to refund our money saying I needed to contact Orbitz for this. Orbitz called for them to release our funds and they refused to authorize the release so ultimately they gave me the run around instead of just telling me themselves they wouldn’t refund. The pictures are deceiving on how much this motel has been updated. In fact the pictures need to be updated. The sand volleyball court has nothing but weeds growing in it. The mattresses are brownish yellow and they are using the pool house to store them which you can see them piled up through the windows. The sheets and bedding are stained. While the rooms have been updated with new paint, flooring, and furniture, the mattresses were disgusting. There were no amenities in the room other than a TV. The lighting in the room was terrible and there was no security lock once we were in the room. When we asked if coffee was available in the lobby we were told what was in the pot has been there since the morning and we shouldn’t drink it. For the same money go stay in a real hotel and just avoid this one all together. The fact that it’s close to Presque Isle is not worth it.

When we checked there were extra fees, the staff gave us dirty towels to take into the room. The room was filthy and the bathroom had someone’s pubic hairs all over the shower walls and the shower spout did not work. The room had an awful stench and the bedding(which was just 2 sheets, not comforters and there were stains all over the bedding. The refrigerator freezer was not taken care of and completely ice build up. Not trash bags in trash cans and not ice bucket liners to get ice. It was not a nice place to stay. Extremely disappointed!

DONT STAY HERE!! I saw decent reviews on expedia so i went ahead and booked a room. I couldn't believe how disgusting this place was. There are windows that have cardboard in them. The lobby area looked dusty and abandoned. I went to check in and they wanted an additional 100 dollar deposit. Which was no problem but that should be known ahead of time. When i saw the room i immediately walked right back out. It was disgusting! The bedding had white mystery stains all over it. The roll of toilet paper had gotten wet and was blue from something. There were no towels even though we booked for 4 adults. When I went to get new toilet paper and some towels they acted like they didn't believe me and had to come\"check the room\" as if there were actually towels in there somewhere. The icing on the cake was there was a door to a room next door that was being used by front desk staff and there was a rusty old nail securing the door from being opened. The front desk guy said there was no one in that room but i watched him go in and out of there smoking cigarettes. This place is the nastiest hotel i have ever seen. I got my deposit back and left. Requested a refund from expedia who called the hotel several times and when no one answered expedia refused to refund my money. I will never book through expedia again and I would advise anyone else who is thinking about it, don't. Go through the hotels own website. At least if there's a problem you won't get ripped off like i did

It was horrible I already chatted with customer service over it I’m
hoping maybe to get some of the costs back. I booked 3 adults in a room and requested a roll-away bed on the Expedia site. The guy checking us in seemed surprised and had no beds to supply. He gave us some bedspreads and one of us slept on the floor. The bedspread on one bed had burn marks in it. The fixtures in the bathroom shower were not fastened and the drains in the sink and shower were slow to drain. Needed to request for additional towels and the soaps were so small, wouldn't last through one shower.

However, pluses include it was the cheapest place in the area, the TV and the refrigerator worked fine, checkout and check in were rather painless and McDonalds was next door for breakfast. We will probably stay there again but will bring a blow-up mattress next time.

It was not a hotel. It was a halfway house. It was absolutely deplorable. Our TV was broken. The office worker lived in the room beside us. It was dirty. The police were called several times for disorderly conduct from another guest. I will never go there again

It looks like they are in the middle of doing that, there were workers about. But if they continue and update its a gem of a spot.We booked because it also has breakfast, but we were disappointed when checking in the sign said only Saturday and Sunday, That was disappointing.

Despite having a mostly pleasant experience here in the past, I almost didn’t go back to this hotel this year. I spent months trying to get my deposit back from our last stay and could not get a response. Upon checking in yesterday, I mentioned this to the girl at the desk and she immediately went in and issued a refund to both my mother and me. I was tired from driving and probably a little rude, but she was very pleasant and made our experience a nice one. We will be back. Just a heads up though, they do not have coffee makers in the room, so you’ll have to go next door to McDonald’s for your morning coffee.

Not sure how I missed that this was a MOTEL, of course the photos online showed mostly the interior of the rooms (which seemed ok). When we checked in (4pm) on a Saturday, no one was to be found at the front desk (when I worked hotel front desk, I had to remain there at ALL times). We rang the bell, we called the number, still no one. Finally, I went up the stairs to what appeared to be an office and knocked on the door; a guy with no shoes answered and seemed surprised I was there. I told him we were trying to check in.

So, we check in and there are old school keys, we ended up staying in their weird suite off to the side but at least it was more private. But there was an outer door and an inner door. Now, I’m a real estate agent, I’m no stranger to difficult and complicated door mechanisms. But both of us struggled to get it opened, but the inner door at least wasn’t as difficult. There was also a back door, and outside there was a bunch of trash.

My fiancé kept his gun by the bed. We didn’t leave anything of value in the car.

There was a fridge and microwave but the TV was kind of messed up (still watchable but weird). Bed was ok, bathroom was bright, but small, at least there was a random dining table off to the side where we could put stuff. The breakfast options were ok, standard. When I came back to the room, I realized that outer door locked behind me (when I specifically tried not to lock it because I didn’t want to wake him up when I went to grab us breakfast

There were only two bath towels in the bathroom and the staff couldn't provide any face cloths or hand towels unless we wanted to wait until later in the evening. My main concern though was that even though we prepaid on Hotels.com, they said we underpaid and they charged us an extra $72.

2 abandoned cars in the parking lot. Obviously residents are not guests sitting outside smoking and listening to their music at night. One of the motel refrigerator sitting in the lawn. Breakfast was basic minimum. However the front desk/staff personnel very nice.

The hotel is great as far as location. The female staff are absolutely RUDE! They went in my room moving items to get a chair they wanted in which I was not happy about. 3. Hours after check in they called me accusing me of taking all their linens in which I took nothing of theirs! The women proceeded to get extremely disrespectful telling me I am no longer welcome there and called me back to back over 10 times just to be funny! I was going to book immediately for a trip in 2025 I will never step foot here again!

Think twice

It was a decent stay there were a couple things
1 the bed were hard.
2 not enough pillows.
3 spiders galore.
4 The cleaning staff used the same mop water to mop all the rooms.
5 the staff was hardly ever in the office if u needed anything
6 water pressure in the shower sucked
7 pics are not up to date. Not as nice as pictures depicted
8 stains on the blanket. Kind of looked like blood.
But, since i didnt want to waste 400+ dollars and find another place we stayed

Lost power for hours, no air conditioning, could hear every movement of the room next door.
