Katarina was wonderful! She made check in easy and welcoming and even helped to get our luggage out of the car, up stairs and right to our room door. We were then given information on restaurants, vineyards for tours and tasting, information on breakfast…. We could not ask for more !

Breakfast buffet was excellent! Hot food, super fresh baked goods, yogurt, fruits, fresh juice…. And a great view to the river and far shore. Staff was very friendly and professional.

Room was well appointed with very comfortable bed. The river view and private huge balcony were wonderful. Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Fantastic breakfast buffet.

I would highly recommend the hotel.

Reception was excellent. Patricia was very helpful as was the lady on night reception. Nice touch with a complimentary bottle of port in the room. Loved the big bath tub. No USB ports in the room and no fridge but they stored stuff for us.

This hotel was the perfect location to end our Douro Valley Quinta tours & then head to Lamego & south to Nazare. Staff were very friendly & helpful. Room had a great view of the Douro River & we appreciated the small bottle of Port & water in our room. Not many dining options since we chose not to drive late, but there is a quaint local restaurant within a 5 min walk. We recommend!

The hotel was older, and while it was clean the staff must have sprayed some scented air freshener on the bed and around the entire room just before we were given the key. It was very strong and did not dissipate, and it must have been on my pillow as it woke me up at night. If you have sensitivities to scents you may have problems here.

Liked free on site parking on picturesque N222 regional highway. Our room on 1st floor had a great balcony with a view to Douro river. A screen to balcony door would help against mosquitoes coming into room. Room was clean and AC was in good working order. Ride to Pinhão was around 20 minutes. Close ro several wineries 🍷

O acesso é terrível para pessoas com mais idade - uma rampa lateral, íngreme e escorregadia, o que para levar as malas não é muito bom.
Só um elevador a funcionar e mesmo assim ficámos fechados dentro dele quase 5 minutos até nos conseguirem tirar...
O Staff foi sempre muito prestável.

Breakfast selections were quite ample and delicious. The tawny port gift bottle was an unexpected treat!

What an amazing place in a natural paradise! Only downfall was that the restaurant only served breakfast and there were no open restaurants nearby. But this place is wonderful!!!! The balconies are one of the best features overlooking the Douro River valley. Service is spot on, so friendly! Breakfast was delicious and included.

Great location - but confirm the type of room.

We loved the location and the view of the Douro River. The staff were excellent and the breakfast very good.
The only issue we had was that I had booked and paid extra for a river-view room. I did get a river-view room but to my frustration they gave me the only river-view room without a big picture window. Ours had 2 smaller and narrow windows which reallly took away from the view. They could not move us that night but did offer to move us the next day. However, we did not want to pack up and move again. So, if you book a river-view room be sure to confirm that it will be one with a picture window!

Wonderful place to stay!

This was by far an amazing experience, defiantly a hidden gem. Check in was quick and Sara was very nice and helpful! We loved the room and the hospitality Sara gave to us. Would defiantly go back. Breakfast was plentiful and each of our rooms were given a bottle of Port as a gift.

Duoro gem!

Every room has a view of the Duoro River, which is right across the road. Posh restaurant (The Doc) right across the road. 10 minutes from Pinhão and many wineries. Gorgoeus area!!!
Staff were friendly, and helpful. Rooms were quite attractive and comfortable. Great value for the price with a good breakfast included. Quiet and serene.

Amazing Views Of Douro River

Hotel Folgosa Douro is a charming small hotel directly across from the Douro River. It has amazing views, a lovely breakfast and adequate parking right on the highway. The hotel is being updated and we were in one of the new rooms. The rooms are not large but they have everything you need including good AC and a friendly staff. This hotel is directly on what is considered one of the \"most beautiful roads in the world\" and to look out onto the hillsides terraced with grapevines and boats passing by is a wonderful treat. We would stay here again

Pleasant stay but a bit out of the way.

Hotel was fine. Room gave on pond that had stagnated water so we kept window closed for fear of mosquitoes.

Also, the hotel comes up when you search for a hotel in Amamar. Also says Amamar in description. People should be aware that it is not in Amamar but rather a 10-15 minute drive down the valley.

It was a great hotel to use as a base to explore the Duoro Valley and Duoro River.
Very comfortable and clean, it is still very new which made it extra nice.
Very well located to visit all the major points of interest.
We were very pleased that we stayed there, the price was good also.

A very relaxing stay in a small well run hotel overlooking the Douro River. The view from the second floor was always interesting. The hotel is quiet, clean and extremely good value for money. Highly recommended as a base to tour the upper Douro by car.

Trip of 2 weeks all over Portugal. This hotel is very modern and very clean. Friendly staff. Good wifi. Nice pool. Nice breakfast. It might be hard to find the hotel. Not obvious... only a small sign on the street. I would recommend!

Our room was a bit small had but fantastic views

Access to the hotel was a bit tricky with us having to wheel our suitcases up and down a long and very steep cobbled slope to the hotel door (parking was in the street below). Once in the hotel though, we found it clean and modern. Our room was a bit cramped but had the most beautiful views from its own patio-ed area. We stayed for 2 nights; the first night we ate in the hotel (which was fine) and the second night we ate in the restaurant opposite (which was of the very best quality and priced accordingly).

The location of this hotel is perfect if you want to avoid the congestion of Peso da Regua, which we did, and if you have a car. The breakfast buffet was quite ample and the restaurant evening dinners were very good. The Douro Valley seems to be a weekend destination place, so plan your stay accordingly. We found the hotel to be comfortable and clean.

Wonderful small hotel and views from the room

This hotel is right on the river road along the Douro River east of Peso do Regua and on way to Pinhao.
Fantastic view from our room window looking over river to vineyards on hills on other side of river.

The people running hotel very friendly and accomodating. Also we got complimentary glass
of Port. The dinner in the restaurant was great. Very nicely done bacalao.

Only drawback was steep driveway to front door to unload luggage.

Overall would highly highly recommend.

This is a lovely little hotel with fantastic views over the Douro. We had two nights here during a touring holiday of Spain and Portugal and thoroughly enjoyed the location. We rode on the train from Pinhao up to Pocinho through the gorge which was stunning. Regua is also a lovely spot, go along the main street up from the river, nice shops and a beautiful set of tile pictures. We watched the cruise boats coming and going and just enjoyed the scenery.

Although the hotel is longside a main road it was very quiet while we were there in May. We ate dinner in the hotel which was very good although the choice was a bit limited. The room was lovely although we chose the ground floor because of price, we still had a great view over the terrace and the river. Would definitely recommend this for a short stay. Excellent value for money.

This is a 3 star which acts like it is a 4. It is brand new and everything works. Breakfast is great with good quality products. Front desk was very helpful. The room cost less than what I was quoted on the internet booking. It is in a perfect location to explore the Duoro. Sandeman and other quintas are just down the road. We drove to Folgosa via Amamar and the mountain scenary was spectacular.

Hotellet har ett underbart läge vid kanten av Douro. Det fanns parkeringar att tillgå framför hotellet. Personalen var hjälpsamma och frukosten var enligt våra förväntningar.
Vi hade ett välstädat standardrum med utsikt över floden. Det var lyhört och rummen saknar det lilla extra som exempelvis ett kylskåp, vattenkokare eller utrymme för en extra stol.

Le personnel est aidant toujours disponible. Les photos du site sont l’exacte réalité. Salle de petit-déjeuner avec vue sur le Douro très agréable. La petite bouteille de Porto offerte est une agréable surprise. Si vous y aller comme moi en hiver, le moins est le froid dans les chambres, couettes très fines. Clim réversible qui ne chauffe que l’entrée. Pensez au pyjama chaud!

Cet hôtel de grande qualité, nous a permis de visiter la vallée du Douro. A souligner la qualité de la chambre sans omettre le petit déjeuner très copieux.
