The room was clean and cozy; we were in room 13 and the view from the front porch was amazing. We had never stayed in a Guesthouse and were a little unsure what to expect, but would absolutely stay here again. It was nicely located between the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon, Hali and Hofn. We were able to do our excursions easily and see reindeer and the northern lights.

There is a great hiking trail from the guesthouse, their dog 'Saga' was super fun and friendly and we saw the aurora from right outside our door. This is a place I would definitely recommend and look forward to staying here again.

This guesthouse was very accommodating along our Ring Road trip. The rooms were nice and clean. The views around the property are nice. There are sheep hanging out and a dog with one eye that likes to fetch sticks. Breakfast was adequate. The only downside is the it is about 30 mins plus from restaurants and/or grocery store.

Location Location Location The guesthouse was a wonderful location to access the hiking trail to the glacier. We stayed in one of the two-unit bunk houses. The room was small but we enjoyed it. Despite the howling winds, we were cozy. Our main goal was to hike to the glacier. We were provided with a great breakfast for hiking. It offered an array of food options that left us ready for a morning long trek. The staff was excellent. This is a no frills option that was more than adequate for what we sought. We literally left the parking lot and got on the trail for a fantastic three to four hour hike. If your goal is to enjoy a great morning on the trail, this your place.

We absolutely loved our stay at this property. The spacious, modern room and view of the river and countryside out our window was incredible. Wished we could have stayed longer! This working farm was quiet, and the family who owned the property was working the breakfast area, with a 1-yr old in tow, which made for an even homier experience.

The room was amazing, the best one I’ve had since I arrived in Iceland! It was spacious, clean, modern, etc. the bathroom was large and had everything you’d need. Bed and linens were comfy and good quality. 😊. I would stay here again if I ever in the area again.

We encountered no hot water at the first night as we checked in late and had to come back to the hotel in the afternoon next day to make sure there’s hot water before it ran out again. Then there was another issue in the room. The hair dryer was not working and I had to go outside with wet hair to get a working hair dryer.
I sent a complaint message to the hotel but never heard back from them.
The money we paid for the two nights stay is not worth for the condition. We were quite disappointed. I would not recommend this hotel.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Skaftafell! The food was excellent—fresh, flavorful, and perfect after a long day of exploring the south coast. The room was very clean and comfortable, with everything we needed for a relaxing night.

Good size room for our needs, got in late and left early and was a comfortable night sleep. On a farm so there were animal smells but not noticeable in the room itself. Some farm equipment was running by 7am. Bathroom was smaller and a little dirty but an older place so expected. Cute waterfall on the property. Good breakfast. Slept well!

The included continental breakfast was excellent. It would have been nice if they'd offered a dinner option too, but the owner was able to recommend the restaurant at the nearby Hotel Smyrlabjorg. We ate there both nights and the food was amazing.

The room and accommodations were clean, comfortable, and plentiful. The staff was very friendly (and there was even an adorable farm dog). Our room was in the main house with a shared bathroom and we had no issues whatsoever. The bathroom was clean and accessible and we didn't have to wait to use the shower or anything. The included breakfast was really lovely and got us off to a great start the next morning on our way out. Would happily recommend this guesthouse to anybody passing through on their Iceland adventure!

This was my favorite place to stay during our travel around Iceland. The rooms were clean and surprisingly quiet. I loved the location, being able to look outside and see grazing sheep and beautiful landscape. I wish we had time to hike the trail behind the property. Highly recommend staying here!

We recommend this guesthouse for your stay in the south-eastern part of Iceland. It was for the second time we chose this guesthouse and once we come back to this part of Iceland, we will definitely choose it again.

We stayed at the Guesthouse Skalafell in March 2022. The Guesthouse is on a farm with the accommodations and dining in separate buildings. The rooms seemed new with a large bathroom with a walk in shower. Free Wi-Fi is available in the guest rooms. The Guesthouse is run by the farmer and wife and it seems like they enjoy the various visitors. We arrived in time for dinner and were very pleased with our home cooked fish dinner that included soup and dessert. Breakfast the next morning was a hot breakfast with homemade banana bread. You can hear the nearby waterfall when you walk from your room to the office\dining room. We experienced a very quiet visit with all of the comforts we needed and expected. We would recommend this Guesthouse and would stay here again.

Rooms were rather small but adequaty furnished. Bed was comfortable and shower good. Had dinner one night and food was hearty and delicious

Beautiful place to stay- you get to enjoy a view of the mountains and goats and even a small waterfall! The interior is nice, the one downside for us was there was not a kitchen but I don't think any guesthouses in the area do.

This was such a great place! Absolutely beautiful location and a wonderful room. We got to the farm pretty late and the gentleman was extraordinarily nice. He gave us some great recommendations for the next day and even let us feed his horses. This was a really great experience to start off our dream vacation!

Quite and surrounded by waterfalls and beautiful views. Great little cabins with a multi km trail on one of the sides of the property. Even though we were the only ones staying on that day, the staff made sure that we were well taken care if and provided us with an amazing breakfast spread. Overall one of the best and most relaxing places we have stayed through the trip. Great for a cozy night for 2 for sure.

My husband and I are in Iceland for our 15th wedding anniversary. This cabin/guesthouse was super cute and right near sheep! It was a beautiful view to wake up to. We were also extremely happy with the buffet breakfast. This has been our favorite place to stay in Iceland so far for sure!

Charming two bedroom cabin with bath and small kitchen. The beds were comfortable and the living space was very nice. Loved sitting on the front porch overlooking the farm and river. The breakfast was filling and hard good variety of food selections. The staff was very nice especially the gentleman at the front desk.

Lovely guesthouse and farm
Very well-appointed guesthouse in Iceland. The little cabins had full en-suite bathrooms and the setting was lovely. There is a river, mountains and a tidy farm. We opted for the farm dinner and it was delicious. The breakfast included with the room was quite basic, but still ample and good. Both staff members we talked to were very kind and helpful. High marks for cleanliness.
