Quite a unique experience because it is so remote. No regrets, you mighr want a 4 wheel drive.

Last night, I stayed in an absolutely horrible hotel. It was beyond filthy, completely run-down, and it felt like it hadn’t been cleaned or maintained in years. The sheets were questionable, the bathroom was a complete disaster, and there was a strange, unpleasant smell lingering in the air. The walls were stained, the furniture was falling apart, and the whole place had a creepy, uncomfortable vibe. It honestly felt like no one had stayed there in years.

But the worst part? The room was full of spiders! They were on the walls, in the corners of the ceiling, and I even spotted a couple on the bed! I didn’t know whether to sleep or stay up all night on guard to make sure none of them crawled on me. Honestly, in my entire life, I’ve never seen such a disgusting, run-down, and insect-infested place. It was a complete nightmare!

I have traveled for 40 years and I have to say this was the worst room I have ever stayed in. It smelled like strong mold the minute you walked in, the bed was folded in half and left for a very long time because the was a very deep in-dent across the whole mattress. You could not sleep in it. The shower head was attached to the wall with a nail and a zip tie on the side of the shower, unbelievable! I can't make this stuff up. The manager came to the room because the TV didn't work, he couldn't fix it, we showed him the mattress and he just said \"hummm I guess we need a new mattress\" They never offered to discount the room, reimburse the room, nothing. If I could give them a -0 I would. Look somewhere else!!

We stayed at the property for 1 night primarily because we heard good reviews of their zip lines over waterfalls and thought it would be more convenient. Ziplines were definitely the highlight and our family really enjoyed it. The route up was quite the adventure as it was steep and very very rocky. The tour not only included ziplining but a dip in one of the pools at the base of a water fall (no towels) and a rappel down a waterfall. At the time we went was dry season so the waterfalls were not in full force but still nice.

The actual hotel location is quite remote therefore if you are looking to eat your only options is to stay eat there. The rooms and facilities (I.e., pool) are quite dated and could definitely use some maintenance compared to other locations that we stayed throughout Costa Rica (I.e., lamps didn’t work or were falling apart, bunk beds were squeaky/rocky and right next to the air conditioner so didn’t feel safe having my kids sleep up there). Pictures that they use to advertise the property don’t align with current reality. The one property manager who worked during the day/night and guides who did the zipline were helpdip but found it strange that as we were one of the only families staying onsite that the owner who was around didn’t actually come to greet or smile at us. Also one night we needed to call out to a 1800 number (insurance company) because our son had an infection, but the hotel was not able to support that.

It is up a steep hill to get to the hotel. The view from lobby/restaurant is beautiful! The room is yes dated and a little small but it was fine. The internet was spotty which was the only downfall when it rained a lot. Food was good

Beautiful setting but needs maintenance

Beautiful views, great birding and you can sit outside and watch the beautiful sunset from the deck. Need bug spray if you sit out in the evening for long. Lots of hot water and good pressure in the shower. No fridge in the room and just generally a bit run down. Lots of dead bugs in both ceiling lights and the room smells musty. Beds were quite comfortable and air conditioning worked well. It is 12km after you turn off the main road. The road is paved but extremely curvy with many potholes but awesome views.

The views were fabulous. Food at El toucan was great. Primary reason for staying was easy access to waterfall tour. Which was best zipline tour we have Been on.

If you are wanting to go where it is peaceful this is the spot. If you are wanting toilets that flush with toilet paper you should not come to Costa Rica. The food was great. We enjoyed our walks around the facility. The views were incredible. This is not a fancy hotel but it was great because we wanted to experience the country side over conveniences that we find in our home. We drove to the facility and had studied the map on how to get to our hotel. Many of the roads in Costa Rica are not labeled and marked. The drive up to the hotel was pretty. The zip line experience from the hotel was the best we have ever been on. We plan on coming back and will stay at this hotel again when we need some rest and relaxation.

We stayed here solely to do the ziplining and ease our travel time in the morning. It felt that we may have been the only guest while we were there. We were warned not to leave valuables in the car. Our room was very basic, but the owner has tried to give it a decorative flair. Our 1 bedroom 2 queen beds had two showers, which was nice. The lady at the restaurant was very nice and the owner was sweet as well. If you are not there for the adventures, I would not stay here, but if you are staying here for the zip lines or other tours, I would definitely recommend it. The ziplines were breathtaking and the guides were great.

View, but not much more

This hotel was a last minute decision so my daughters could zipline. The owner was very responsive by email, but our experience staying at the hotel was not very good. The AC unit in our room dripped on my daughter’s head during the night. By morning the pillows and the top of the bed were soaked. We all ended up sleeping in one bed. Lots of spiders in the room as well. The staff, especially Victor, were incredible as was the view. But for the price it wasn’t worth it. The owner also wasn’t sympathetic about the AC problem and didn’t even off to comp us anything off our bill which was disappointing.

We had a fantastic stay at hotel Vista Golfo. The complex has 6 basic but comfortable rooms. The outdoor restaurant has a great view and as a guest you can just sit there for hours watching the beautiful nature. They offer several outdoor activities. We did the High Rope course and the zip lining trip over the waterfalls. Both trips were great and the guides are friendly and patient. The owner and staff are very welcoming and make you feel right at home. Most people just come for the day for an activity and leave but it is definitely advisable to stay for a couple of nights. This hotel was the highlight of our trip.

Great for Ziplining tour and views.

We stayed here two nights to do the zip lining tour. Which the zip lining was worth every penny! The guides were awesome! And the tour was memorable for our group ages 7-40. Our rooms had amazing views of mountains and the golf, and the sunsets are magnificent. The rooms are very basic but comfortable and has warm water for shower. The restaurant is a beautiful covered outdoor setting. Breakfast was complimentary and cooked to order. We ate dinner one night here and the dinner food was okay and a little pricey. The second night we ate at a local restaurant (Bento de ORO). This was amazing and a must ! There is a pool onsite. Property can be a bit windy. Our only complaint was the lack of ice. We had our own beverages to drink on the porch to enjoy the view. So the next night we drove to the local town (8 minutes away) and bought a bag of ice.

Amazing view, awesome ropes course

We did not have enough time at the adventure park to take part in many of their offerings, so I can not speak of those things. We did the high ropes course while we were there and it was probably one of the scariest (and fun!) things I've ever done. The rooms were dated, but clean. We had a mishap with hot water the night we stayed (what I understand to be unusual) and I had to take a cold shower and my friend had to use an outdoor shower in order to take a hot one. The grounds themselves are fun to walk around and the view of the bay from the open lobby and restaurant is amazing (great sunset views). The restaurants food was a little salty for my tastes...but they had great drinks! It's an adventure just getting TO the place going up those curvy roads up hill...but I would say worth it.

Must stay if you are planning to stay in this Area

It was adventurous getting to this hotel at night as our GPS told us you have arrived and we couldnt see anything until we drove about 1000 meters further. Very nice location and view from the hotel. Breakfast and dinner is a must. Very nice meals and very friendly staff. Most of all, for people looking for activities, they have it all on premises including ZipLines! However we did Zipline through the hotel that passes through 11 waterfall and about 25 zip lines. And yes we also did Superman portion as welll which was excellent experience. We have done ziplines many times in USA but this one is out of the world. I would rate it one of the best one we have done so far. There is one zip line about 400 meter, another one about 350 meters. And superman one is 750 meters.
Very nicely built facility in costa Rica on the mountains where you can't expect what they have to offer. Their rates are also very affordable.
Thank you adventure park hotel for your hospitality. Keep it up.

The rooms are basic but comfortable, breakfast was good but by far the highlight of this place is the grounds. They have loads of nature trails and fun rope sections for kids of all ages. My family enjoyed our time there

Quaint, Unique and worth a stay

We mostly use this hotel because of location to where we need to be for our meetings. They do have some great outdoor activities but that is not why we are there.The location setting is awesome, restaurant is just okay, setting of restaurant is great and open to outdoors with a view all the way to the Pacific Ocean. They do not have a menu just let you know what they can serve at that time. But we will stay again for the location and beauty of the setting. Wifi service, though offered, is very poor especially in the rooms. We went to common area for that.

The air conditioning wasn't working it took 3 hours to fix it so we got our room 2 hours later than our check in and the air conditioning's remote control didn't work anyway. The food at the restaurant wasn't good and was expensive.

I will never come back to this hotel. I was expecting to have a some rest, but I did not since there was a lot of noise due to a couple of kids that there were next to our room. We talked to the customer service and they do nothing, they only said \" You rent a room, not all the hotel\" Come on... be serious.

Great place to stay for Adventures!

This is the perfect place to stay if you want to take advantage of all the outdoor activities that Costa Rica has to offer. Only 10 minutes away is some of the best Ziplining in all of Costa Rica. But if you're not into the adventure stuff, better to stay closer to the beach. Nothing much is happening at the hotel itself.

Adventure and home cooking

The staff was exceptionally friendly and there was this older woman working the kitchen... awesome home cooking for lunch, exceptionally delicious. I regret not eating dinner there. Great view but the rooms are quite a bit antiquated but it does give a rather rustic feel to the place. There's a lot of things to do on site if you are into outdoors and nature such as hiking. If not, then you are pretty screwed because the location is quite isolated and the closest town Miramar is mildly entertaining.

Cold Water does not make for comfort

We are in our late 70's and it was difficult to walk the steep driveway to our cabin for every meal. The hotel is geared for young athletic folk and they ought to be very clear about that, and perhaps even put a disclaimer on the website advising that only thise in top physical condition should book a stay. And our room had a lovely Jacuzzi and NO HOT WATER !!! What a cruel hoax!!!

If you want crowds this is not the place.

This a beautiful hotel sent in the mountains near Puntarenas, Costa Rica. Nature lover will enjoy this place for its peace and tranquility. But at the same time it has many adventure sports (zip lines, quads, climbing wall, trampoline, ect.) to keep the kids busy, while you enjoy the pool.

Up in the clouds with great views!

This hotel was small..I think about 6 rooms. The room was comfortable..had an extra bathroom too. The connecting wall to the other room was paper thin so you could hear the other people in their room (only real complaint). It had great panoramic views of the mountainside all the way to the ocean. The food was fair..nothing spectacular, but the view made up for that. Our kids enjoyed the pool.

R&R at Adventure park hotel vista and golfo

Drove up from SJO and the the road to the Hotel once past the town of Miramar was quite an adventure! We stayed for 2 nights in room #2. Nice but rustic. Met the owner Barbara who is lovely and very passionate about animals and especially her dogs. There are nature trails to walk about, canopy tour on site, horseback riding which we did and many other great activities available. The views are breathtaking from here and worth the drive. Refreshing freshwater pool and beautiful birds to see here. It was difficult to fall asleep because of the bullfrog symphony at night but this is the jungle, what else would you expect? If your looking for the beach or party scene this is NOT the place for you. If you appreciate nature and want to take a rest from your travels and have some fun before exploring the rest of Beatiful Costa Rica then DO come here.

Best ziplining and gourmet food

The hotel/adventure park are located high up in the mountains near Miramar, making for an incredibly scenic view during the day and an impeccable view of the stars at night.

The altitude certainly lends itself well to the ziplining courses. We did both the night course and the longer day course and had a great time on each. The superman finale to the night course would have alone been worth the price of admission, and the variety on the day course—swimming in a waterfall pool and rappelling—made for an excellent experience. The guides on both courses were very professional and safety-conscious, which helped put as at ease while flying a couple thousand feet in the dark. (They even had a few tricks up their sleeves on what would have otherwise been relatively mundane ziplines, but I won’t ruin those for you.)

The food at the hotel restaurant was quite easily the greatest surprise—not just of our stay—but of our entire trip. The food that was served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner was easily some of the best we have ever had. Chicken tacos, marinated tenderloin, chicken Bolognese; all were unbelievable and were made even more so when we learned they were prepared and cooked singlehandedly by the chef.

The service throughout was spectacular, and paired with the ziplining and gourmet cuisine, this hotel/adventure park is absolutely a must-visit.

The staff was great, the prices were horrific and the owner Barbara was unprofessional. She spoke rudely to me and snapped at every request such as we need clean towels or toilet paper. Their shuttle pick up states $60 she charged us $100 each way.

The hotel is good and a great advantage if you plan on doing the activities. We didn't checked the prices before going and found they were a little pricy for our budget. If you are only looking for a place to stay it might not be the perfect choice since its far from everything. The hotel restaurant is a (to my opinion ) over-priced. Still a good hotel and very cute.

great hotel for a family

Originally, we were just using this hotel as a stop over on our way from rincon de la vieja to manuel antonio. it turned out to be the highlight of the trip. the staff could not have been friendlier and more helpful. we arrived late, after being on the road for hours. the kitchen was closed. however, the cook stayed late to make pasta for us.

at the last minute we decided to go zip-lining in the morning. what a great experience! we did 25 zip lines over 11 waterfalls. we even stopped half way through and went for a swim at the bottom of one of the falls. the guides, who work for the hotel, could not have been better. not only did they make us feel safe, the pointed out things in the environment that we never would have noticed.

we will definitely come back.

Very friendly and very helpful staff. 2 of our group of 4 were very ill upon arrival (from the food in the previous resort). The staff went out of their way to help us out and get us to a clinic and back. Food here was very good and inexpensive. Hotel is located right on site at the Adventure Park. A quiet peaceful place to stay with a wonderful veiw. It's on a windy paved road north of Miramar, roughly 12 Km off the #1 Hiway. An acceptable place to stay but don't expect too much with the rooms. Rooms are a bit old and tired and in need of updating. Only one of us was well enough to do the zip lines. Did the 25 zip lines over 11 waterfalls. Zip line tour was thoroughly enjoyable, well organized and safe. Worth a return visit.

a nice place to stay

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights, in Feb. 2013. We loved the view of the valley and the coast from way up on the mountain. It was a peaceful location. The meals were good, but they had only 3 choices. We didn't do the ziplines so I can't comment on that. I heard that they were good though. If you don't do the ziplines, there isn't much to do here, and it isn't close to anything, but for 1 or 2 nights it was fine. The room was moderate, nothing fancy or special, but very comfortable. We had a queen bed and bunkbeds in our room, with a/c, and a nice deck. Just don't expect 5 star luxury. The employees were great, very nice, and helpful. The woman that owns the place was not very helpful or friendly though. I didn't feel comfortable asking her for anything. Overall, a nice place to stay.

Hotel was very run down and extremely basic.No hot water in bathroom sink, blinds broken,door lock damaged,safe in room broken. No menu for dinner same food every day but with different sauces.
Unaware horseback riding to the zip-lining is not included anymore you can only go by jeep.Owner said this was updated on the website.I did not see anything? You can still horseback ride but it is a separate tour.
Horses well cared for.Staff young and friendly.
Zip lineing had too many people 35 on our trip which took 4 hours!! Recommend reduce numbers per trip but it was very well organised and safe.
This hotel appears to be struggling to make ends meet.
On a good note the road all the way to the hotel although steep is fully tarmaced now so no problem with potholes.
