The location was great, the beach was beautiful. The room had extensive water damage and smelt like mold. The pool was dirty - milky water, stunk, and lots of tree debris. Lots of parking which was great and we could use the amenities while waiting for our room after an early arrival. The restaurant food was great - only with a reservation - but the buffet was not. We will not return.

We had the perfect room located in the Premium section. The staff was incredible, Stephen, Christian, Jimmy and Javier to mention a few of the bartenders. Shirley and Tiffany were the hostess with the best personalities at the premium restaurant. We had the most incredible time and cannot wait until our return.

Overall the stay here was very enjoyable. It is an older resort, but it is clean. The beaches do not have chairs / loungers on them. There were no people on the beach / in the ocean when we were there. So expect the pools to be busy.

Sinceramente pagamos el premium y no sentimos ninguna diferencia con el regular. Nunca conseguimos campo para cenar en alguno de los restaurantes a pesar que reservabamos temprano. Nos dieron habitaciones normales porque no habían premium, que todo bien pero no compensó con el resto del trato.

Dimos la queja en recepción pero no nos tomaron en serio honestamente. Somos un grupo de 10 viajeros que pagamos $3000 y nos faltó. El staff muy amable y la comida estuvo bien.

I recently stayed at this resort and was unfortunately disappointed by the experience. While there were a few highlights, the systemic issues with service and maintenance made for a stressful vacation.
Service & Communication:
The resort appears to cater almost exclusively to local guests. As an international traveler, I found the staff to be unresponsive and hesitant to assist. The biggest frustration was the à la carte restaurant booking system. It is completely unintuitive; when I reached out via WhatsApp, I was told to see Guest Services, who then simply told me to use the (non-functional) web link. This \"loop\" made dining much more difficult than it should be.
Room Condition:
The rooms are in desperate need of an update. Our shower head did not work properly, the balcony door was non-functional, and despite being a \"resort,\" our mini-fridge was never once restocked during our stay.
Dining & Coffee:
The food variety is very limited, with only slight variations day-to-day. Most surprisingly, there was no fruit served at lunch or dinner. For early risers, be aware that there is no dedicated coffee station; you have to wait for the buffet to open at 8:00 AM, and even then, there is no espresso-style coffee available.
Entertainment & Activities:
All evening shows are conducted only in Spanish with no English translation. Additionally, there were no water equipment rentals or organized activities available on-site, which was a letdown for a beach destination.

The hotel was very clean, food was good and the staff amazing. My reservation was for a king bed room but I received the 2 double bed room. They did try to change my room but found the king room dated and in disrepair. The hotel wifi was terrible. They have rules like can’t leave your towel unattended on a chair by the pool before 8:00 AM. If you do they may bag it and take it away. We found our belongings at the tool hut. Sun comes up a 6:00 AM. They are very punctual. If a bar opens at 4:00 PM. Don’t try to get a drink at 3:58. Stuff like that. I don’t think we would go back to this hotel.

Resort was very clean, it was obvious that the worked hard to keep it that was constantly. Staff was always super nice and welcoming. Security was always present but subtle about it. Everyone we talked to was always helpful in every way they could be. The food was all good with nice dinner reservations available at all 3 different restaurants on site. They all served very nice, very flavorful different styles of food, and the buffets the had were good too. We loved the place and will be back!

Everything you want to do you must wait in line. The food is abundant but certainly not top shelf. The help is very courteous and helpful. The problem is in the management. They seem to have a lack of staff at the places like check-in, bars, and certain spots in the restaurants where it is obvious that they want the inconvenience to be great so people do not wait for the good food items like meat.
The pools are full of kids. If you have children, this is a great place. If you are looking for a quiet more refined place, this isn't it.

The condition of the room was not as advertised at all on the website and overall the stay was not close to what a resort should resemble. The room had roaches and ants inside. The room assigned to us was in poor condition. The toilet did not flush properly, and the bathroom door remained ajar with no option to close or lock it—an issue that significantly affected our privacy.

The beds were uncomfortable, and the room lacked sufficient pillows, making it difficult to rest.

When we first arrived the woman at rhe front desk was not very friendly and helpful...my room toilet was cery dirty and shower wasn't working properly...my son's room the shower wasn't working...my daughter's room, her toilet wasn't working...i called the front desk and it took 20 minutes before someone answered...The cleaning lady for our rooms came late everyday...The restaurant staff were amazing and very friendly...the front desk kept canceling our dinner reservation...the same woman from the first day at check in canceled our reservation and told us to eat at rhe buffet...then she didn't give us a ticket for the next day reservation...too many issues 😉

Been to many all inclusive and this one was the worst I’ve been too. I’m easy to please and am not a picky eater but the food here was so bad. Only place open was the buffet, the definition of quantity over quality. Mostly cold and tasteless food, we ended up leaving the resort early to go find food because the buffet and beach bbq snack bar was so terrible. Property was in decent condition but is in a need of a remodel, felt old and neglected. Staff were mostly good, attentive but unmotivated and I can’t blame them

Good stay....check in was good...no major language barrier....nothing against this hotel..but I would seriously suggest travelers stay in a regular/non resort hotel...you will save tons of $$...just my $0.02. Again, our stay here was good...but way too pricey...this is the only resort West of San Jose...in the Puntarenas area..I would also recommend staying on the Caribbean side of Costa Rica...East of San Jose...the beaches are white and the water is a vibrant blue...on the western side...(which is where this hotel is located)...the beaches are black and the water is dark...can't say I didn't like it...just not something I'm used too...this is caused by active volcanoes in the area....again...nice hotel...but I would look at other options....preferable on the Caribbean side of the county...incredible staff....

Staff is super friendly. Note - if you are from the US- you will be one of the only US citizens- this resort caters to locals so the language barrier is there. The rooms are very outdated and in need of a renovation so it appears dirty. The drawer fronts fell off, the closet door wouldn’t go on the track, fire alarm half missing- if fire occurred - we wouldn’t know- areas are rusty- due to the elements. If you just want to float in the pool all day- this place is for you. We wished that activities started earlier than 10 pm- but then again we wouldn’t understand the entertainment. We did participate in water aerobics- in Spanish but we could follow along.

Everything in Costa Rica takes some driving time. Don’t let the 1:20min drive from the airport discourage you.
Buffet food is okay.
Restaurants are good. Try the tuna tartare.
Area around the resort is busy and industrial.
Don’t waste your time driving around for souvenirs. There are no shops. The gift shop has average to low prices. Ask for coupons at check in. 10% off helps when you buy everything at once.
Airport has nice souvenirs if you don’t want to hassle during your trip, but it will probably be 20% higher. Buy your souvenirs during your excursions.
Don’t forget your Yetis’s or Stanley’s, Bars fill them with drinks.
Rooms are okay, but cleaned daily.
Rent a car and explore. We traveled to Monteverde, Waterfalls, Jaco…at our own pace.
Want to see monkeys, go to playa Manta.
The entertainment at the resort is hilarious. They’re interactive and remember your name.
I would go back. It’s mostly a locals place, but if you want to swim, drink, eat, and laugh you’ll have a good time. They do offer things to do and eat till 130-2am.
I would go back, and see the Volcano. During our stay the roads were not passable.
8 out of 10 for me.
The value $ was amazing.

I got a room type inferior to the one I paid.
Staff were very rude, food very limited, lots of carbs and very limited protein in the buffet and limited portions. Lots of rules so we were told no a lot of times. For the price range and the value you get it is not worth it. Will not come back.

Its worth it if you stay at the property the majority of the time and take advantage of what the resort is about but if your traveling to go explore Costa Rica, its not worth it. Food at the buffet was terrible, they had theme nights and the food each time was not worth it, terrible. The rooms etc are a little run down and could use some upgrades. Hotel itself had acceptable cleanliness and rooms were comfortable. The layout of the hotel was fine but minimal activities other than the pool. There were no amenities at the ocean. The food was terrible and we could not eat the buffet. Only the two speciality restaurants had reasonable food. The drinks were all watered down and had minimal alcohol. It seemed that this resort is for locals.

Would not recommend this place. Staff was mostly helpful, but the whole thing had the feel of a run-down cruise ship on land. Lots of \"this area reserved for people paying even more money\".

The very first thing we dealt with was being told that, because they were missing the ages for our kids (somehow), it would cost an extra $100 per night. Luckily we were only staying one night. Otherwise that would have been quite the disaster. This felt like false advertising.

Our room had no wifi signal at all. We asked the staff about this and they mostly just shrugged.

Towels cost $20 (USD) each if you don't return them. We therefore had to guard our $80 worth of pool towels with our lives.

The pools were pretty cool though.

Costa Rica has been a blast with tons of great hotels, friendly people, and fun times, but this place was definitely the low point.

The property was decent. The rooms need an overhaul. They are old, and the water went out at one point. I will say where this resort thrived was its food. The buffet was fantastic & changed every night so you didn’t get tired of the menu (we stayed 9 days). The restaurants they had within the resort were also solid. We had a car which is certainly preferable as a tourist in Costa Rica. It’s very safe and I wasn’t met with one aggravated local. All love, and willingness to share their culture. The staff was also great. Very accommodating and friendly. The bar closes early and the adult bar also only allows you to order if you have seat, and all of the nights we stayed it was full… so if you don’t get there early you’ll likely be waiting. Overall great experience, I would definitely go back to Costa Rica, the resort was good value.

This was my first time in Costa Rica and staying at this resort for the tail end could have been better. The amount of kids and families there hindered any relaxation i was hoping to get but thats my fault for not staying at an adult only resort. This was fun as we went with a large group of our family. The check in was very chaotic though. The food variety was good and the entertainment was fun. Not too many refreshments stations for the amount of people staying at the hotel so the lines were long. For a 4 night stay we were legible for only one a la carte restaurant which I was disappointed with. No air conditioning at any of the restaurants, some fans but could use more ventilation for sure. We had a rude waiter that disrespected our meal by interrupting to tells us that we were at someone else’s table after it had been assigned to us. Despite complaining to customer service nothing was done and our meal and time in family will never come back. The infrastructure of the hotel appears old and could use more maintenance for sure. The kids club was fun for my daughter. The ladies that work there are the best! They are fun, responsible and truly care about the kids it’s clear that they love what they do. I hope they get the recognition they deserve! Will stay here again and will also recommend for an all inclusive close to SJ!

This failed expectations and was not as advertised. There was no opportunity for a night life as it had no true social bar. It had one bar that refuses to serve you unless you have a table to sit it and if there were no tables avaliable you wouldnt get served a drink. All alcoholic beverages tasted like water or fruit juice, badly made. The buffet restaurant served the same exact breakfast options everyday got boring. The food overall was not good and lacked any type of flavor. The hotel checkin process was in a hot theater that was very disorganized and they were doing it all by paper. Took a long time to get checked in. Outside of resort was dangerous, attempted to walk around at night and hotel guard told us to come back because we could get assaulted. The beach on the resort was disgusting and the water was not safe to go into. Had to drive an hour to another beach to be able to enjoy the ocean. They did do a good job at cleaning the property. Would not recommend staying here unless you rent a car.

It was a place to stay without any need to go elsewhere. The food was poor quality and the place needs to be completely remodeled. The required wristbands are scanned at every venue and you feel like cattle. Seating for meals was very slow at peak times. 45 mins waiting to be seated for dinner. Whilst our stay was not unpleasant, the check in and check out was a shambles, the rooms are like something from a 1970s Days Inn and I did object to queuing in a long line for breakfast - I am paying for a hotel stay and not expecting school dinners. Conversely, apart from the check in and check out teams all the staff were very friendly and helpful and a credit to the hotel. If you plan to stay beware this is an old facility and despite the website rooms are being upgraded, they have a lot of work to do and I suspect the chances of a decent room are very low.

Slow and arduous check in process. Not only do they manually inspect your credit card, they run a $1 charge on it for all 3rd party bookings.
The food is lacklustre. Even the gallo pinto was burned. That written, the hand made to order omelettes and grilled swordfish pieces by chef Christen were very good. Good Chilean Malbec wine at lunch but you have to ask for it. The premixed mixers are in gallon jugs. The swim up bar and pool surrounds are very nice. This is a dated property. The 9 pm show has an outstanding dancing team.

This property is definitely old and terribly outdated. We were in a pinch and it served it purpose. Somewhere to sleep and eat. There is nothing to do around this property. Definitely felt out of place staying here. I would say 98% of the guests here are locals. All entertainment was done in only Spanish. A lot of the staff only spoke Spanish as well. Would never stay here or in this area again.

The place is nice, but when it comes to checking in it's very, very slow... they only let you in at exactly 3 p.m.... plus an hour and a half for them to give you the keys, meaning you come into the room at 5 p.m.

The hotel is great if you're looking for entertainment, a nice pool, and proximity to the San Jose airport. However, the food wasn't my favorite, it was just okay. It seems like they're cooking for a large number of guests, so the meals lack flavor and don't have enough seasoning.

The hotel at first glance looks very nice the pools are nice , very scenic . The waitstaff work really hard so customer service is great . The issue we had was that when we got to our room we noticed that the outside looked run down and then when we entered it looked like something a druggie would stay in . It was run down and there were holes in the wall above the tv. We stayed there one night because we were tired but the next we went and mentioned the condition of the room and after about 30 min we were transferred to another room which totally changed our opinion partly of the hotel. It seens like the hotel is under renovation so some building are under construction. But let people know that in advance so they can set their exoectations when they arrive. Especially at 200 + a night. The food was typical all inclusive food and was not that great. But once again service top notch. As a person of color coming from America i did not feel welcome because eventhough the front desk staff knew english enough to understand me the activities throughout the hotel were all in spanish so i felt alienated. And my wife and i noticed thst wherever we went people seemed to stare at us and i am reluctant to say it was racial but it was jjust uncomfortable being constantly stared at. This hotel is for spanish speaking people only which probably explained the little to no Black people we saw there.

After reading the reviews I had my doubts about this resort. I must say this place was great. They had plenty of places to eat, multiple pools to cool off and enough Imperial (beer) for everyone. Staff was humble and really nice. Staff spoke english and spanish so communication wasnt a problem. They also have an area to rent cars or excursions so you can visit other areas close to Puntarenas. I have no complaints about this place besides the wait time to check in other than that I would bring family here on my next visit. Pura vida!

Enjoyable but not fantastic

We stayed at the resort for a couple of nights when we first arrived in Costa Rica, after 2 weeks of traveling around Mexico. It was nice to have a relaxing break but after 2 days we were bored. We were glad that we had a premium room, which meant access to a different pool, as the main pools were loud and crowded. Service was good, food was good.
