We just left Alpha; we were able to find excellent dining options in and around the hotel and getting to Sorrento was easy and affordable by train, nearby. The staff at the front desk was very helpful helping with transport and activity recommendations. Rooms were clean and comfortable with spacious showers and some toilettries (not including hair conditioner or face cloth towels if you prefer these). The pool is mostly in the shade because of its location in the garden. Some evening entertainment (i.e. sax player performing in the courtyard and other things). Overall a very nice stay on our journey and we'd go back.

Nice clean hotel not quite a 4 star we was expecting . The reception staff are very friendly and very helpfully but the restaurant manager can be a little funny with attitude I found !! The overall restaurant food is quite basic ..
Overall not bad but was a little surprise with 20£ day for parking be aware . Also reception staff will try and sell you excursion as they are on commission basis and check your checkout bill as we found overcharging with items we have not not !

We had a wonderful day. I did not realize this is further out from the Sorrento city center, but the bus stop is very close and we took it back-and-forth every day. The rooms were beautifully decorated and very, very clean. We had fresh towels every day. I did not realize that our half board reservation included dinner every night as well, so that was an added benefit!

I think this hotel had a lot of potention but sadly I did not have the best experience. I was placed in a outbuilding a short walk away from the hotel on the ground floor.

No real balcony and I think I would olhave enjoyed it more if I was not in that building. The room looked nice but I don't understand why the sink was outside the bathroom.

Everything about the property was good but buyer beware, If you are booking any of the non refundable deals on hotels .com and it says all fees and taxes are included they charged us a 500$ fee only during the payment. I flagged this immediately as I booked. I contacted the hotel.com they said they can’t do anything? It’s a bit of a scam!!!

The hotel is slightly outside Sorrento itself, which makes it calmer and with more room for pool and gardens. The walk in is around 30 mins, although there are good rail and bus connections only a short walk away, also going out to Pompeii etc. Really great, friendly service from everyone. So relaxing!

Not as shown on the website at all, the rooms have paperthin walls and we were kept up all night by someone with their tv on and slamming doors throughout. The room walls are thin and hall seem to echo sound so much so that i could clearly follow the tv program the person in the room was watching

The rooms look nothing like as advertised on the website, they are sole less and no where near as modern as described. Honestly felt scammed for the nearly €200 we paid for the night

First time is italy and so thankful me and my friend booked with Alpha. Staff was incredibly nice and understanding. Any questions we had, they answered or helped as much as they could. Our room was spacious, clean, beautiful view of Italy. We got the back suite building. Breakfast was our favorite, the on site restaurant Gia is good also. I wouldn't recommend doing the special dinners they did during our stay, id suggest go out and eat. The ONLY thing that sucked was the amount of bugs that were around. but other than that staff at pool were attentive, overall hotel space is great. Pretty awalkable to everything you need. Has a near by grocery store too which was our fav. overall recommend 10/10. THANK YOU ALPHA.

The staff was amazing EVERYONE from front desk, maintenance, servers, pool bar, breakfast staff, to the restaurant manager, we were always greeted warmly and with genuine care. The room was lovely, bright, exceptionally clean, unfortunately they were almost full when I booked(because they’re great and fairly priced) so our room was near the door to our building and other guests weren’t always respectful as they came and went after hours, all part of travelling and the hotel was amazing 10/10!!!!

The staff was very helpful on booking a day excursion to Capri for my party of 5. Highly recommend. Breakfast was your normal Italian spread. I didn’t eat at hotel restaurant but 2 of my party did and were not impressed with the food. Local restaurants food are better.

The hotel alpha was very helpful. We had a mix up with our room, the hotel helped us out very quickly and made the stay absolutely great. The staff were very helpful. The pool was quiet and very clean. The grounds made it feel like a villa in the countryside. Breakfast was done beautifully and fresh. We were suggested a nice restaurant in the area from a staff member, which we ended up having for three times. They also helped us to find a boat cruise for the area. Thank you hotel alpha!!!

The hotel Alpha, is a lovely four star hotel. The staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble and you are always made to feel welcome. Our room overlooked the garden and was spacious and clean, aircon was not working properly but they did managed to part fix it. I believe some rooms are a bit dated but we were very happy with our room. Lovely swimming pool and pool bar and drinks are reasonably priced.

The hotel it self is clean and bright. The staff were very helpful. The shower unit needs updating. Three of us in a room, definitely not enough storage space and hangers. Not enough areas to put your stuff on, so you have stuff everywhere and the room looks messy. Same in the bathroom, not enough area to put your toiletries on. The hotel overall was good, would reccommend. Just needs a bit of updating.
The town it's self is small and has few bars, restaurants. When walking about, anywhere and on the route to main Sorrento the roads are extremely BUSY and NOISY and the smell of fumes is overbearing. There is nowhere to go for any peace and quite, anywhere. Very pretty, but two days is enough. If i wanted to have time away with al the noise and fumes, I would have gone and stayed on the M25. It is not the fault of the Hotel, anywhere you stay there is noise. We had friends with us all staying in different hotels and all said the same. Including The Mediterraneo, and they paid a fortune. These towns could do with dealing with their traffic. Totaly ruiined our visit. Not in any hurry to return, sorry.

Great hotel although being solo my bed was a single and there were skylights but non window.

A really nice hotel, well run with superb, friendly staff. The pool is fantastic. Breakfast is very good. It is located very near the railway station for easy access to Sorrento, Pompeii etc. The local bus stops just outside the gate which will take you right to Sorrento port (if it turns up).

We loved our stay at Alpha hotel. The hotel and pool were both very clean. Staff was very friendly. There was a nice big breakfast included. Unfortunately the restaurant hours were not very long. A few nice restaurants and a market within walking distance. Also a bus that stops right at the hotel that takes you right to Sorrento city centre or the port. Overall very pleased and would definitely stay here again.

Where's my Limoncello?

Hotel was ok and welcoming, close to restaurants etc. had our own bottle Limoncello in fridge which went missing in 5 minutes between leaving the room and checking out. Once we realised we had forgotten to get it we went the back to the room but it had gone. Hotel staff said this was not possible and staff do not go in the room until checked out and were dismissive. Wasn't going to argue over something of little value but it was the principle and response that was disappointing.

This Hotel is not the vest hotel in the area but it is reasonably priced, has a swimming pool and is located close to the train station of Sant Agnello. The rooms are confortable and clean, the beds are extremely good and there is aircon. The staff was friendly enough. Overall we had a good experience!

Pretty good overall. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The bar/waiter was not very efficient. My husband and I asked to order drinks and he gave us a \"yes\" but then we waited in front of the bar for 15-20 minutes while he served other people and did not acknowledge us. We gave up and went upstairs. Our room upon check in was not up to par with regards to cleanliness. I found 2 long brown hairs in 2 separate locations around the bathroom, within 3 minutes of being there. The breakfast was really good, lots of options there. Also nice to have a rainfall shower as opposed to our other hotels where there was just a bathtub and hose, etc.

A very warm and inviting Hotel

We were all very impressed with the Hotel and the helpfulness of the staff. We felt we were staying with friends. All the staff were first class and made us feel at home. The Hotel Manger, Francesco is incredibly warm, friendly and helpful. The Concierge, Salvatore is attentive and helpfully and caters for all dietary needs. The Hotel has a car park and is well situated for bus and train routes. We had a wonderful time and have recommended this hotel to our friends.

Needs a bit of polishing

The hotel is close to the second last train station on the Napoli to Sorrento line but not much else. The down side of this is that you don't have much choice for dinner except the hotel restaurant. The food is okay here and the service is brilliant but it is very much over priced. Other than that, the only other complaint was that they turned off the central air conditioning as the said it was the off season despite the weather being in the high 20's (C). They had no alternatives other than to leave the door open which invited mosquitos into the room. They said some people were requesting blankets already (must have been the oldies) but our room was facing the sun all day and very hot. They should provide these rooms with a fan if they a going to turn off the air conditioning.

Great Hotel and Lovely Views

We checked in late on the night as we had a late arrival to Italy. Trains were regular from Naples Train Station to Sant'Agnello (2nd last stop for the train to Sorrento). The guy at reception was really friendly and helpful and took us to our room. The room was well-decorated, modern, very clean and the cleaner cleaned it every day for us. We had a lovely balcony, in which we stepped out in the morning sun when we woke up each morning, you could sunbathe there also. There are chairs and a table provided on the balcony. The shower was great and equipped with hot water. There were also shower caps, soap and shower gel provided. The bed was comfy also. Breakfast was good, lots of choices, buffet-style breakfast. Restaurant staff are extremely friendly and helpful too. The hotel has a pool, but the water was rather cold so we just sunbathed in the warm weather. We had dinner on the last night, the food is extremely good and the waiters are informative when you have queries on what the food is or what is in a certain dish. The dinner menu changes daily, and we just dined out on the days when the food menu wasn't to our taste. All in all, I would go and stay at Hotel Alpha again and would recommend friends and family when they visit Sorrento and surrounding areas.

The food was excellent, the service staff all excellent. The showers, toilet and air conditioning needs work.the toilet took a long time to fill with water and made a lot of noise, the shower is weak, and the bath jets didn't work. We didn't think the air conditioner was working and slept with the balcony door open because it was too hot.
But overall the experience was a good one. The restaurant and the maitre d - superb, everyone helpful and hotel was VERY clean

Just lacked a little atmosphere. Why not a little Pavarotti or similar for half an hour before the meal. Or more modern Italian music in the bar area. But excellent value for money hotel.

great little hotel in santagnello, near sorrento

The hotel staff were all pleasant and couldn't do enough for us. Room was very clean and with beautiful views. Yes some noise from the road but not too bad. Bed a little uncomfortable but we only stayed 3 nights. Brillant cooking school on the same road, were I had an actual italian cooking lesson in english! Highlight of the trip! Very good location for trains/ bus transport to sorrento or to pompeii/ naples airport.

Just returned from a weeks stay, staff were very helpful & friendly, good position near the railway station for expeditions to Pompei, Herculenium, Sorrento & Naples., prices on the railway were very reasonable from the local tobacconist.
Pool area can be a little noisy with traffic but not too bad & you soon don't really notice it. The room we had in the older part of the hotel on the 3rd floor had a great view over the Bay of Naples & mountains.
Ate in the restaurant on several occasions, the food was very good but could have been less fussy on occasions, sometimes you want simple filling food. Only real downside was when we have stayed in hotels of this class before a lot supply pool towels free of charge, we didn't take any so had to hire some from the hotel which looked like towels previous customers may have left behind.
Overall a very friendly, well run & well kept hotel, would recommend

Staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. Food was excellent and although we had booked on B&B basis only, we dined in 6/7. They have also a good selection of wines which are very fairly priced.
Few complaints other than we couldn't adjust the air conditioning which is centrally controlled and the pillows were a bit on the hard side. The location is not brilliant because if you wished to dine elsewhere, there was not a great choice is Sant Agnello, meaning you had to go to Sorrento by either bus (which could be very cramped and hot and slow) or train (which took only a few minutes) but only ran every 30 mins or so - but get yourself a timetable.

Everyone at this hotel were very helpful and very kind. Having a pool in August was a bonus we couldn't do without. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the food in the dining room was very delicious.
Was within walking distance of Sorrento ( about 20 minutes) or one stop on the train.

Cool, welcoming & peaceful haven. Highly recommend

If you don't mind being a little way out of town (it was a good 40 minute walk to the centre of Sorrento), this is the perfect hotel. Service was excellent and the gardens, terraces and pool were all lovely, surrounded by lush flowers and citrus trees. Our room was very nice with a beautiful, large balcony overlooking Mount Vesuvius. Air con was effective, so you could always escape the heat and humidity when you wanted to. Generally, this is a quiet hotel. Obviously there were kids playing in the pool from time to time, but mostly, lounging around the pool was peaceful, allowing everyone to relax, sunbathe, read and snooze. There's a poolside bar with speedy service. We were B&B only, so we had to look around for nice restaurants in the area, but they can be found within a few minutes walk.. Use trip advisor to help you find the best ones. The hotel had good food too, with plenty of choice at breakfast.
The train station is only a five minute walk away, with half hourly trains to Sorrento, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples, though don't rely on the timetables too much, and take a fan because the trains are often crowded and very hot.
This was a lovely place to come back to in high summer after a long morning sightseeing in the heat. It always felt like a cool, welcoming place to return to. I would highly recommend this hotel to everyone, except, perhaps, those who want to be in the centre of the action.

Our second visit to the Hotel Alpha, and another wonderful experience. Once we had checked in and been reintroduced to the many pleasures the hotel has to offer, my first task was to check out the hotel swimming pool for \"cocoons\", as per the Ron Howard movie of the same name, as all the staff were not only the same but they looked \"younger\" as well !. Special thanks once again to Salvatore, Genaro , Luigi and all at \"front of house \" This is a hotel that makes you feel special and they do their job professionally but with a smile. . Go and enjoy the experience. I am not going to go on about the choice at breakfast or the proximity to the rail station, or the fact that there is a supermarket closeby for all those \"little essentials \" you can and will find that on other reviews and websites, just GO... enjoy the wonderful area and this splendid hotel .

Just the hotel for a relaxing break

We have visited Hotel Alpha several times and are always impressed with the quality of the accomodation and the food. The staff are always both friendly and efficient and everyone, from reception staff to cleaners seem to care about their customers' comfort. A special mention must go to the restaurant staff, especially the manager Salvatore, who make every effort to deliver the highest level of service and to make people smile. The views from the panoramic rooms across the Bay of Naples can be very good.

Lovely small hotel

We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Alpha but I’ll first mention a few things to be aware of.
If you go there with a car, you will need to put it in the hotel car park which costs 15Euros per day. There is no free street parking.
A 4 star hotel room in the UK would normally have room service, a fridge and tea/coffee making facilities - you don’t get these. There was a mini bar in the room but it was not cold – maybe that was a fault with our one but I thought the offer to clear it so we could use it for drinks we purchased at a cost of 3Euros per day a bit unusual. Our room was air conditioned but the controls were rather insensitive so getting the best temperature at night was a challenge – again, perhaps a fault with our unit only.
These are minor niggles however. The hotel was bright and comfortable, the pool set in the garden was great, we enjoyed the breakfast buffet and the evening meals were tasty and good value. The staff were very friendly and helpful, especially in the restaurant.
It is in a good location as it is a short walk to the cliff top with great views of the bay and a couple of nice restaurants. Walking the other way takes you in 2 minutes to the small town with its train station and buses to Sorrento and along the coast. The train is the best way to get to Pompeii, Herculaneum and Naples.
A very enjoyable stay in a very nice hotel.

Great location, Fab hotel

This Hotel is in the perfect loaction for exploring the area. Turn left out of Hotel and you are a 5 minute walk from town where you can get Bus and Trains..also small shops bars and resturants, turn right and you are 10 minutes from the stunning clifftop where there is a square and again resturants and beach with an amazing view out to sea. Public transport is so easy to get into Sorento but also if you feel energetic its a 25-30 minute walk ( although along a busy main road with narrow pavements, so I would not recomend if you have small children) Trips are available from Sorento, the Hydrofoil to Capri or take a bus to Amalfi...You get to experience the Famous Amalfi drive and its just as good on the bus! 7euro for a full day bus pass to get on and off where you please. The bus stop to and from Naples airport is in the town and 10 euro each way and very reliable.Bus and train tickets are available from the hotel but are double the normal rate so buy them from the tabaconist or train station.Everyone speaks good english if your Italian is not good! The Hotel and staff are lovely. We ate in Hotel one evening twas good, but so many resturants to try its a shame to not to experiment! Breakfast was plentiful and lots of choice. Perfect location in a perfect place..We loved it!

Close to train station in Sant'Agnello

The hotel was great- staff was helpful. Right next to the train station in Sant'Agnello so getting to Sorrento only took about 5-10 minutes. Otherwise it was about a 20-30 minute walk. We wanted a hotel that offered breakfast and a pool and were satisfied with both. We would stay again.

take bus or train to go to Sorrento central

The hotel is nice with new amenities. The bathroom has a shower. Our room is 222 with a view of a yard which is alright. After a trip to Capri with sea view, it's hard for me to say the view of our room at hotel Alpha is great but it's definitely pleasant. The room is clean, and the AC works fine. The TV is small but has some English-speaking channels.

The breakfast is fine. Both me and my friend think the coffee are wonderful - even better than the ones we had from other cafes.

The hotel is not in Sorrento, it's about a train stop away from the central Sorrento train station. The bus ride (line C) from the port to hotel is about 40 minutes and 15 mins from the Sorrento train station. Line C bus is less reliable as we waited a hour at the port when the bus should come by every 15-20 mins or so. However, it seems common in Sorrento that line C is just not reliable as Line A or B. You can also walk 200 meters from the hotel to take Line A (more frequent, reliable rides) to central Sorrento.

We saw many people by the swimming pool, it looks nice. We only stayed there for a night, but I think it'd be a nice hotel choice for people who want to spend several days there and take a day trip to Capri.

Good for the price

The pool is lovely. The room was spacious and fine - not remarkable, but I think the place was very full while we were there so I imagine they have better rooms than where we stayed. The staff were a little stuffy but helpful. Definitely a good deal for the money we paid. The breakfast/restaurant staff were very friendly. Parking is expensive for a residential area hotel - about 15 euro per night.

Very friendly hotel, conveniently located.

The hotel was conveniently located near the station for access to Pompeii, Naples, Sorrento etc. and was easy to get to by bus from the airport.
The walk into Sorrento took about 20 Minutes ( or you can take a bus from outside the hotel) from where you can reach the Amalfi coast or the islands of Capri and Ischia.
Although we were only booked for bed and breakfast, we stayed in the hotel for a few evening meals, which we found to be the best value meals we ate. Service was wonderful. The only area for improvement was the coffee - not the famous Italian coffee I was looking froward to. And the hand towels in the rooms were more like napkins.
The pool area was lovely to come back to after a day's sightseeing.

will not recommend!

we just got back from this hotel after 8nights stay in may 2012,i really regret choosing this hotel for the following reasons.location is far away from lively sorrento,poor restaurant timings as it is open only for 1hr 30mins for lunch and dinner closes at 9pm.had to get takeaways from nearby restaurants as we have a 2 year old toddler with us.getting into and out of the hotel with pram was difficult as there were few steps at the entrance,hotel staff would pass by but none of them helped us ,toilet really stinks at nights as there was a gush of drains smell and spreads all over the room,all staff very pretentious specially head waiter 'salvatore'

Superb little hotel with conscientious staff

This hotel is in a great location. 5 min walk from the station and 1 train stop or a 30 min walk to sorrento and close to shops to buy all you need for your stay. On our 3 night stay we went to Sorrento once for dinner. The restaurants local to the hotel were really nice, and less touristy (Taverna Rosso and Moonlight). We didnt eat at the hotel but the menu looked great and we would have if we had been there longer.

The staff were lovely and very friendly, especially the lady on reception. The pool was relaxing and it was nice sitting under lemon and orange trees for shade. My first impressions when I walked to our room was how nicely decorated the corridors were and how spotlessly clean the rooms were.

I would definitely go back here because there was nothing I could fault them for.

Hotel staff were fantastic both with service and tourism advise. We even needed some crutches as my partner had a problem with his foot and the staff found a pair to loan us for free. The grounds of the hotel were also beautiful.

Overall our stay was enjoyable but the main criticism is that at times it was too noisy which disturbed sleep. Management expelled some rowdy guests who had come back from the local disco after 4a.m. and decided to have a noisy party. Other young guests at other times went out late and came back noisily in the small hours, at other times many young guests (school/college girls) spent much time at night running and phoning between each others rooms. The traffic noise from adjacent roads was ever present, and the rubbish collection each day before 5 a.m. was noticeable. Apart from the noise, the hotel was very good, the staff and service were excellent, reception, pool area, bar and restaurant were great.

Hotel was excellent all round. We also found sant agnello to have a good choice of quality restaurants that in general seemed less expensive than sorrento. Only negative is we had a small local tax to pay when we understood our prepaid rate covered everything.

Visited on the recommendation of my brother. Very nice to be surrounded by the lovely citrus trees and beautiful grounds. Short walk or bus into Sorrento. The restaurant was good and the wait staff is super professional. We ate breakfast there and found that it was excellent quality and value for dinner as well and ate at the hotel several evenings. My only complaint was that our double bed was actually 2 twins pushed together. Normally not a problem, but these were of different heights and firmness and did not make for a good nights sleep as a result.

Beautiful place

Highly recommend this place! Initially, we had conflicting reservations as the online reservation suggested i had infants vs teen (the system dropped the second number in the age) so my room wasn't big enough for second bed. However the staff was EXTREMELY helpful in resolving the situation (though i did have to pay a little extra for the 3rd bed in bigger room). I thoroughly enjoyed staying here; rooms were fantastic; staff very very friendly; kids loved picking the oranges from the trees and eating them as they were sooo juicy; even the restaurants were delicious close by. Breakfast was good esp the fruit was out of this world, and the best orange juice as it seemed freshly squeezed. I only wish it was a little closer to Sorrento. The buses were rarely available so we did walk majority of the time. Since we did go to Capri and Positano, being near Sorrento was important (plus the shopping and restaurants there were great).

The hotel is set in lovely well-maintained gardens. The staff were very professional, helpful and polite. Good value for money, compares favourably with many 5 star hotels in this area that we've stayed at in the past. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable holiday here, nice pool and relaxed atmosphere. Hotel is conveniently located near town centre and beach.

Great start to our hols!

We spent a few nights at the hotel Alpha at the start of our first Italian holiday.

We were very impressed by the hotel staff who could not do enough for you.

The breakfasts were the best of all of the hotels we stayed in with a good choice of both hot and cold items.

The pool area was very nice with snacks available.

a hotel not to be missed

We stayed at the Alpha for a week on a bed and breakfast basis. The hotel is spotless, the staff are extremely polite and the food at breakfast was first class. Salvatore who runs the restaurant couldnt have been more attentive to the guests if hed tried. His view was your are on holiday and we are here to make it as enjoyable as possible for you. If you didnt like what was on the menu they would make something different for you.There was maid service twice a day.

Lovely Hotel Alpha

Hotel Alpha is a great place to stay for exploring Sorrento, around Napoli and the Amalfi Coast. The Hotel is clean and quiet with friendly staff. Breakfast was fantastic with an enormous selection from cereals, hot food, cold meats and cheeses and cakes. The coffee was good and strong. A special mention must go to Salvatore, the restaurant manager, who always makes you feel extremely welcome. Luches and evening meals were ok but there are better places to eat nearby.
Our room was very quiet and had a spacious bacony with views to the Bay of Napoli and Vesuvius. There is a mini bar, good air con and it's kept very clean. the only problem was the shower which kepy falling off the wall.

Recommend to everyone!

What a great hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. Breakfast has something for everyone and more. I did find the coffee to strong, my husband loved it and i enjoyed good tea every morning.
Our room was lovely and clean, with a lovely view of the pool. The only downside is that the pool is near a road and you can hear the traffic, but not enough to spoil your swim.
The surrounding area was very quite, with some hotels and restaurents towards the beach and shops if you head toward the station.
As the station is a 5min walk from the hotel, getting around is very easy, 3 minutes to Sorrent and straight line to pompeii, Vesuvius and Herculaneum. We felt that if you didnt want to hire a car, like us, getting to various places was so easy and when we went to Amalphi, which has to be done, we thought that if you stayed there, things could be a little more difficult as you have to travel up and over mountains to get to quite a few places and after 2hours on bus from Sorrento there, i was feeling quite poorly! But thats just our view.
.
we would love to go back to Hotel Alpha and have already spoken highly to other people.
