在杭州朋友推薦祈利酒店之際，網訪了海外旅遊頁上有關京杭運河，西湖等的酒店風景紹介，再從全季，百瑞，四季，Haytt之間，花了好幾天做了評估，布魯斯終於風塵僕僕，在北京出差的行程結束後把自己運來杭州，興致沖沖地入住這樣一個有歷史有風味的紡織廠酒店，運河祈利。
這是多麼地似江南古文裡，乘著風，尋著樹柳與菜餚的味道，遠行訪摯友，既是激動又是感性地短短旅途。坐擁一個歷史風味強烈的紡織廠建築，我想祈利酒店在這藝術與美的優勢，在五星酒店的圈子裡佔了很大的優勢；不再是那種四四方方有氣派無養涵的禮貌建築。同時，稍稍遠離西湖觀光的喧嘩，伴著京杭運河邊的靚與美，祈利酒店像是個讓人可以喘口息，緩緩步伐的好選擇。
在五星酒店與度假酒店的強烈競爭之下，很明顯的祈利除了上面兩點優勢之外，還有價格在700-900之間（不含早餐）的優勢房價，確實這在五星等級裡算是費用較低的，以房價跟酒店外觀照片來評估時，很容易感覺是性價比好的五星酒店，布魯斯就是這樣上鉤的。殘念，既然稱為五星酒店，祈利就必須要有五星酒店的一個態度與服務，所以布魯斯要跟祈利聊的，是祈利在服務的專業性，以及酒店的人性化設計。
<打招呼的原因是我們一起迷路>
從機場搭著出租車來到酒店的路口附近，出租車就先迷路了，因為師傅不知道大門在哪，我也不知啊；一個五星級的酒店，看不出大門在哪，也未見任何引導的服務員，讓客人的出租車從某小門進入，我的第一印象就覺得被騙了。如果是外國人肯定會滿頭霧水。
拉著行李，在吹著寒風的半開放式酒店空間裡，找尋前台，問這位出電梯的客人，問另一位客人的小孩；然後也被反問，文化中心在哪？健身房在哪？看來所有的客人都有相同的疑惑，在哪？住兩晚之後，布魯斯自己才大致明白早餐，健身房，後門的運河小門，前門大堂的位置。
祈利有個非常大的問題是動線的設計與標示。並不是沒有作標示，而是，酒店在設計標示的時候，沒有去考量客人到想法，客人在酒店裡通常會如何移動，會去哪裡，該如何標示，標誌與裝飾品如何區隔，如何規劃空間的運用等等，所以現在酒店裡的客人，在面對這個標示不清處，又非常寬敞的空間，很難理解該往哪個方向走。因為迷路，所以客人互相打個招呼後，就開始問路。
空間尺寸與美裝，花錢買就有了；清楚的動線設計，體察到客人內心的設計，以人性化設計，捨身處地來為客人構思。
<不及格的燈光控制>
入住的房間，有燈泡是閃動，壞的。這證明清理房間之後，房務人員習慣性的不去確認房間的使用狀態，這是不及格的五星管理服務。在下一位客人入住前，確認水壓管線燈泡窗戶搖控器的電池等等，是個基本工作，提前發現問題，而不是等問題發生才解決，況且這也花不了兩分鐘時間。
房間裡燈光控制有5個按鍵分別是房燈，燈槽，壁燈，夜燈，總電源。這五種燈不是很容易理解如何操作，花了將近十分多鐘，我才找出了關「床頂燈」的方法。

啊哈～房間的空間設計，就更能看出這是個學藝不精的五星酒店。厕所与淋浴间对拉的玻璃门，请你们自己在看一眼，是不是門寬跟门框的宽度不和？客人永远要稍微侧著身子进去上厕所或洗澡？这，是讓人享受还是来受折磨？行李架的凹槽位置，巧妙的挡住路口，与墙的厚度不同，走路時容易撞到膝蓋。电动升降帘过于巨大，相当有压迫感。床底下的大地毯，一直没有被摆正过，是歪一边的。抽屜不好拉開。衣櫥門開了之後，又要側身才能走過去....文章長，發表到豆瓣上了。
