For the family traveling with kids, I love the options of having washer, dryer and kitchen in the apartment. And I also like the gym to continue my routine work out while on vacation. This residence apartments are located in EAC (Europe American Center) which is easily for taxi driver to find. We rarely used public transportation in Hangzhou because taxi is really cheap. And for a family of 4 it is much more convenient to book online vehicle services or just get Taxi. Staffs are very friendly. Rooms are clean and spacious with minor flaws, e. g., toilet seat cover needs to be lowered down when flushing?? Dryer and washer are not separated, it takes 3 hours to dry clothes and clothes still come out damp… Overall I still enjoy the experience in Oakwood apartment. It has everything I need. Didn’t use the breakfast buffet, instead we went out and enjoyed the local food which is more traditional and with more options.

The design and condition of property was excellent. It is part of EAC, Euro American Center. Breakdast buffet and swimming was excellent, with high end interior finishes for the apartment units. A place to choose in Hangzhou.

Staying at Oakwood Residence Hangzhou served our objective well. We were looking for a hotel that provides washer as we were traveling light. The area is pretty centralised, walkable to the famous West Lake, also have restaurants and convenient stores.

Stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on a high floor. Well kept property, everything looks new and clean. Staff were attentive and polite. Downsides : Dryer was faulty but detergent was provided for washer. No laundry basket. Would be helpful if there is a towel rack in the spacious bathroom, the clothes hook behind the toilet door is too high for an average height female. Pillows were too flat and bed too firm.
Other than that, would love to return to stay

I love the Oakwood in Hangzhou. I rate it 5 of 5. I stay here on each of 10 visits. Great location, scores of restaurant in the Oakwood complex. 24 hour Family Mart. 24 hour fitness center. And the greatest king size bed that knocks you out. Many rooms are like big apartments. A nice reasonable restaurant in the hotel.

Old property with unhelpful staff

Stayed for 8 nights so far because of the location. BUT,
their rooms smell - since it's service apt, the cooking smells from your neighbors will stay exactly in your room forever. Rooms are old, the beds are peeled off.
Housekeeping don't do their jobs - your trash stay in where they were after the housekeeping and they never refill your toiletry.
Most importantly, their staff are incompetent. I see 3-4 young employees standing at the front desk doing nothing. When asked them for help, they looked at each other and don't know what they were doing. The back office staff were very unhelpful - when I had an issue and needed to talk to the front desk, they transferred my call 3 times and everytime when the phone was picked up by a different staff, they gave me inconsistent information. The problem remain unsolved after four international calls.

Could do with a good sprucing!

It was a good layout that enabled a family of 5 to have quality time in the living / dining area. The rooms were well laid out but I have to say the housekeeping staff was inconsistent in their quality of housekeeping practices. The apartment is in need of a refurbishment - signs of extreme wear and tear visible. Scratches and dents on the corners of the walls. Also, the cleanliness can be improved: shades of grey finger marks can be seen on the kitchen cabinet doors, drawer pulls and especially the door pull on the refrigerator. The privacy net curtains could also do with a good laundering! Carpets a thorough shampoo. The pillows are way too soft and the mattress way too firm!

Good serviced apartment at good price

We will be happy to go back to Oakwood for for our next stay in Hangzhou. Good facilities and value.
There were some problems, we were moved between several rooms, and even downgraded! But, all ended well. Loved the laundry and kitchen and bathroom. A nice high quality place at a reasonable price. Staff were mostly ok, some not so enthusiastic, some great.

Room was not thoroughly cleaned, particularly the bathroom.
Breakfast was until 10am but no refill after 9:30am (the time we went in for the two mornings that we stayed). Staff at breakfast were not helpful and not responsive to questions such as no plates or bowls available.
Instructions about which tower to go were not given upon check-in. No reception in the tower we stayed.

A very good stay. But the clerks tried to take too much from credit card for incidentals: $800 American dollars. I discussed with management and they lowered it to $300. This was my third visit to Oakwood and no need to take so much from card as I always pay cash for incidentals. It was resolved satisfactorily.

I have an Google Pixel phone and the WiFi doesn't work, the hotel tech came and said their WiFi is not compatible because my phone runs on Android 7.1, so I ended up using my phone data plan and ran up huge usage fees.

A Good Hotel with poor staff and taxi

This good hotel with spacious room and clean toilet was let down by poor staff service :-
a) a staff that woke me up at 2 25 am in the morning and insisted that I asked for room delivery of 2 bottles of mineral water. After I told her she was wrong, she offered no apology.
b) During the first evening when we wanted to get a cab for dinner outside, we were told it was next to impossible to get one unless we had a local taxi hailing apps. We were left on our own to figure out how to get one. After more than an hour of trying at nearby main road, we managed to get one. Let just say we expected more from the hotel staff.

Definitely will come back again!

We only stayed for 2 nights. There are many things in the hotel we hadn't had a chance to explore. Overall, our stay was good but not perfect.

The good: Staff was efficient. The room is huge for a studio. It is very clean. The breakfast buffet is fantastic.

The okay: The furniture in our room is a bit too old especially the couch. The TV remote was sticky, it bothered me.

I stayed in Oakwood with my husband for 3 nights. The hotel location is good. It took 10-15 mins drive to West Lake. You may easily find some restaurants and convenient store nearby.

We booked a Executive Studio. The room is quite big. Also has a small kitchen which you may cook/heat the food. Washing machine is in the washroom and you may use. This hotel also offers different types of pillow. Just give a call and they will send you.

Just had a small issue when check out. I used my credit card to pay the security deposit. The hotel was not able to cancel it. It took 15 mins to fix and finally they ask if I can pay $0.01 to against the security deposit. And also they are not able to provide any invoice as I paid in full when I reserved online. I hope there would not be and surprised fees charged by them.

Great apartment for traveling with family

We booked a two-bedroom apartment for a family of four people and had a great stay there. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The neighborhood is very convenient with many choices of restaurant in the mall just next to the hotel. Will need to take a taxi to the west lake but it's a short ride. Buses are convenient as well just outside the hotel. Good service from the staff as well. Will definitely stay there again next trip!

I booked the Deluxe Studio non smoking room. When i checked in, they brought me to the EAC apartment opposite the Oakwood (see picture), saying that they were fully booked in the main Oakwood building (which is newer than EAC). The hotel staff also claimed that Swimming pool/gym is at the EAC , so that it's more convenient. But upon entering the room, i was shocked by the strong stench of smoking. I told them to change immediately, and they then move me to the Oakwood, saying it's an upgrade. The new room in the Oakwood Residence is bit better, looks clean, with full kitchen... though still some bit of smell. I am not convinced it's an upgrade. They were not ethical as I booked and paid the Oakwood price, but they first place me at EAC, a cheaper apartment (see the picture and you can find the price of EAC).
By evening, i was noticing flies in the bedroom, and overnight, i was badly bitten and itching through my sleep overnight, probably a combination of the flies and bed bugs in the beddings. I checked out immediately next day, they refused to refund me the 2nd night, saying that it's because i have paid. So the lesson is DO NOT PaY in advance. Hotels.com also said it's not possible to refund too, i think this is not right, but ok, this is the reputation. I hope other guests learn to be smarter... Best is to avoid this apartment hotel.

Could use an update

Overall, the hotel is showing its age and could use an update. The condition of the room is a little shoddy; for example the carpet was very worn, the kitchen counter was damaged, the bed runner was snagged, the TV remote didn’t work well, and the bath towels were in poor condition. Our room rate was supposed to include breakfast and I had to argue with the check in clerk and it took 3 times of me telling him this before he looked it up and confirmed that it was included. I'm very glad that I did because, I would have been upset if I had to pay for breakfast separately. The breakfast quality and selection were poor. I have stayed at Oakwood many times over the past 5 years and it has definitely gone downhill. I would not stay here again.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment with a family of four. The apartment was very nice and comfortable. It is remote from shopping and attractions so taxi and bus are the only transportation options. There are shops and restaurants in the lower level. The washer/dryer is an all-in-one and takes a long time. But it was very nice having laundry available in the room. The room had free wifi and free on demand movies. I would definitely stay there on business again. But for a family, would consider other options closer to shopping or attractions.

I was not sure if my decision to book a serviced apartment than a hotel was right but my stay at Oakwood was no less than a 5* stay ... If fact it was even better.. Starbucks was below the building, Burger King was on the same building, Family Mart was there for everything and anything that I need. KFC was just a stone throw away. This is notwithstanding there were other Chinese restaurants in the same buildings.

Apartments were clean with all the right amenities in place.

All in all Oakwood made our stay at Hangzhou memorable... Oh BTW The BAR at 3F 👌👍🏻

when I was arrived, there was not available single room which I reserved, so they made upgrade immediately.
room was quite a big and clean. the room had almost everything and water, one can of coke, one can of beer was served for free. location was not center of hangzou but it was enough to close to western of hangzou.
you can drop by Mr.box though.

Hotel and services met our expectation and more. However, the trip to and from town take the fun out of travelling in China. Taxi drivers seem not to honour their profession and constantly refusing to take us back to the hotels. It is a problem need to be fixed if China like to see foreign visitors spending money in their country. Of course this has nothing to do with the hotel other than its location. So if you can manage transport than this place is highly recommended. But if you need to hail a cab to get around then staying here is a pain getting away and back to

Quick Trip To Hangzhou

The hotel is not close to the west lake but it is a very clean and secure. You need to have room key to take the elevator to your floor. People were friendly there I was upgraded to a one-bed room from studio and the rooms are huge. I think it also came with all the things needed to stay for a longer term. It has dishwasher, rice cooker, plates and utensils coffee makers etc. The only thing missing I think was a bath tub which I do not really miss. Overall great experience. BTW, it is about 15 minutes cab ride to the west lake. Plenty of buses near by and there is a starbucks right around the corner.

Super comfortable, extremely large rooms, bathroom super duper nice. Sofas a bit shallow / hard, all other furniture very comfortable. Fully-equipped kitchens, with a grocery store on the second floor, it's as close as you get to a home away from home. Gym very nice, haven't tried the pool. Decent coffee (available for takeout) and nice breakfast food (I'm difficult). Food (either restaurant or room service) is not great, pretty expensive and not super tasty.

Great interior with good layout

I stayed in a two-bed room with my colleague and find it still comfortable. The small studio is quite functional enough for a short business trip, and they really want to make this room comfortable by using a faucet from GROHE, TV from Sharp. Anyway, a lot of little things make the details seem valuable, and it totally worth the price.

Above Par Business Stay

Located far from the West Lake can be a boon or bust. On the one hand, it is free from the maddening crowd and noise. But when business was concluded early, the 30 min. walk to West Lake was a turn off. I ended up just strolling around the building block. The hotel has all the basic amenities to enliven a business stay. Bed is comfy, breakfast is well spread.

Hotel staff was not helpful. Make sure you have strength to move the luggage yourself. The new tower does not have air conditioning in winter, and the old tower is kind of tired. The room is not brightly illuminated and is considered small.

It was one of the best hotels we stayed in. .

we booked a 2 nights weekend holiday in Hangzhou for 2 adult and a toddler .we were very happy with our choice, the room was very clean and comfortable , spacious , we ordered a crib for 2.5 years old and it was big enough, we had all amenities written on their web site (washing machine, dish washer ext. free internet ext.) everything was in great condition and easy to use.
The downsides: first, we booked through expedia executive one bed-room + 2 buffet breakfasts . for some unknown reason the clerk at the reception said the breakfast is not included. we had to speak with the manger and he had to contact expedia to sort this out. this could have been prevented if the expedia reservation was more clear to the staff.
second, the hotel is pretty far from the lake and all the attractions , a good half an hour walk or more. you will need to relay on the taxi service. everyday between 15:30 to 17:30/18:00 it is very hard to catch a taxi just before rush hour the drivers change shifts and you will end up waiting 30 minutes for a taxi that might not come at all.

to conclude this review, we highly recommend this hotel, it was one of the best we stayed in china and asia

Overall, the hotel is up to five stars. the bad thing is there is construction site next to hotel and caused noisy very early in the morning. and this hotel is a bit far from West Lake. it depended on where you need to go. but the surrounding area is a good business area.

a remarkable way to live for a short while

We stayed at Oakwood in Hangzhou for over three weeks - staff was extremely helpful and kind to us - western restaurant in hotel more than satisfied our need for western food every now and then - facility is clean and very well kept.

Great hotel at a convenient location, room was clean, lots of varieties on TV channels, great restaurant food. One bad thing is that there is no wifi in suite..but I was told you can bring a router and they will install it in your room for you.

Perfect !

Room is large and beutifull , place is very good and staff ( besides the fact that everything is complicated on check in/ out in China ) is just perfect.
I had to buy some computer parts near by and they have sent o guy to show me where. I had to buy a phone card and another one went with me , and he did the activation. To buy cigarettes they also sent another one to take me in front the store.
Manager, Janus, is from Poland , very helpful and with a great english. Food was great !

Phenomenal Hotel!

If I could give this place a 10 out of 5 I would. The Oakwood is amazing. I booked the cheapest room option on Hotels.com which was the equivalent of a suite in the USA. Huge room. Service was A+++. Kitchen in the room was especially useful. The hotel is part of a brand new commercial development, so the surrounding area is top-notch. I can't say enough about this place, truly amazing. I would never stay anywhere else in Hangzhou.

a week in Hangzhou

Almost perfect from every perspective! Any one staying for an extended period in Hangzhou should consider staying at the Oakwood. Attentive staff with a can do attitude. Not a lot of English spoken, but we managed to make ourselves understood. Relatively close to the West Lake tourist area (10-15 minutes away by bus)

Well run all round good hotel and staff. Stayed as a family of 3 and staff from the cleaners to the front reception were great.
