Positive and negative about crystal hill hotel

I've booked 2 days in crystal hill hotel. The first day the TV is not working the hotel towel is not clean as well. There were bugs and some insects in our room and the glasses they provide also not clean. The good point about this hotel is they provide water heater and a wonderful view from our balcony and the heater from our bathroom worked well for the first day.........The second day we actually frustrated and decided to move other place Caz in the morning 6am heater doesn't working and we forced to bath in cold water in the early morning. But we can stay there for the nature and the view. Overall the hotel gave a great experience.

5 Stars View with rundown facilities

On 1st night, the first room was rundown. The bed was very bad condition like sleeping on the wire frame, toilet was not clean and without any toilet paper. 3 person checked in a 2xdouble bedroom, but only 2 towels and 2 soap provided. Dirty stain were everywhere on the curtain, bed sheets and wall. Bugs and big fat mosquito is full and biting my kids (at 4am, I had kills more than 15 of them).

On 2nd day, asking for change room however was rejected at once due to we already checked in on the room, cannot be changed. After much discussion, finally they changed us to next room which is much better in condition. Self prepared mosquito repellence and expected same soap quantity. Can sleep better.

Despite of the room condition, the view is outstanding 5 stars. You have180 degree view of Mount Kinabalu and Kundasang town.

View is perfect. but i will not recommend this place if it is for comfort. The house keeping didnt change the bed sheet. They use back the ones customer use before. Room is not like in the picture i saw. Shower also broken. condition 5/10. if u stay for the view definitely recommended

Most horrible stay

This is the most horrible stay so far in my life.
the washroom was dirty, moldy; the curtain and the sofa cushion were also moldy.
The room was stuffy, no fan was provided, with the windows open, it would be too cold.

No slippers were provided in the wet toilet, shower head was not functioning well.

We ordered breakfast to be available at 7a.m. as we need to rush for the hike, it didn't arrive till 7:15a.m.

Bilik yg kami dapat ok. Cuma kebersihan bilik x ok. Tambahan nak buat air panas pun x dpt. Apabila ptg ada panas sedikit. Kipas mmg x ada. Malam mmg sejuk giler. Selimut n cadar x bersih. Staff ok. Pemandangan mmg cantik.. Cuma kena hati2.terutama faktor keselamatan keluarga Dan juga barang-barangan yg dibawa. X tahu nak taip apa lagi. Too Far Away from the Main Road

The hotel located quite a distant away from the main road. We have to drive 1km plus on dirt road. The condition of the hotel is poor and have poor sound proof system. No restaurant,..and it require us to travel to get our meals.

We had booked the honeymoon sweet and from the photos on Hotels.com it looked clean and comfortable. We got to the room and it was filthy and dirty. The bedding was atrocious. Bathroom was grimy with dirt. We complained yet the staff didn’t know what to do!!! They then offered us a suite on the upper level. The room was slightly better but still dirty. There was old brown sofa. My wife was severely bitten by fleas on her thighs and crutch area after sitting there. We left the next day because of this although we booked for 5 nights. All other people complaining about the filthy conditions. Cockroaches in bathroom and bedroom

The view was very cun one...but you need to go to the reception balcony to see it. Early morning is the best time to see it clear from the fog/mist/cloud.(6.40-7.40)am. Cleaner sky's. The facility tho, not much. If they do a renovation work for it it would be great.

The location was strategically build to provide a grand view of Mt. Kinabalu. That made up for all the below average condition, cleanliness, service, comfort and overall condition of the property. The price we paid DOES NOT commensurate with the general expectation of any season traveler/tourist :(

I love the view of Mount Kinabalu from this hotel and the staff is friendly but for this particular room 102, they need to fix the door( a bit stuck when i try to open it) and install extra lock for door for safety reason. I hope they will fix the issue because i would like to stay in this hotel for the nxt future trip to KK

Only positive is the great view of the mountain. The rest were terrible, starting on the small road condition leading to the hotel. The housekeeping was terrible, with smelly bedspread, pillows and blanket. We booked for 2 nights stay, but after one night of uncomfortable sleep, we could not stand it and checked out.

The road towards the resort is bad. Room cleanliness is avg to poor. TV poor reception. Brought a Dyson hairdryer, can’t even power to run smoothly. Bore lobby and staffs, can hardly communicate in English.

Good view, facing Mount Kinabalu. Carpark access to room is near.

The hotel is located at the hill facing Mt Kinabalu which gave a great view. However, the cleanliness of the room is at its worst. My bedsheet is dirty and i ask for a new bedsheet. The road to the hotel is not tarred, one way, and bumpy. Definitely wont go out during night. So its become boring. After all, crystal hill really have a great view even from room. But the room is not fine and the road is not tarred.

Nice View but not the room

The room don't have enough furniture such as closet and chair.TV just have 1 channel only and not clear. the bed also not comfortable. the blankets are very thin and bad.I had book a room for 4 people but only two cups provided only. We have experience of blackout in the morning until we check out and staff didn't tell us whats the problem.

The road to hotel is bad and no transport provided

We require some transport to pick us up just 5 mins away from hotel (my driver cannot drive thru by van since the road very steep) but the staff not really friendly and rejected. As such experience, I would not recommend my friend to stay this hotel.

Road to the hotel

Located near Pekan Kundasang. Book my stay few months prior but did not manage to check in. This hotel is on top of the hill. If you are driving and not an experienced driver, just forget it because the road is too steep, you'll find yourself shaking halfway before reaching the hotel. Nevertheless, I can assure you that the view is super amazing. You will get a full view of Mount Kinabalu. The hotel might cost you few hundred ringgits, but the view? Priceless.

Need to drive a long, untarred, not well built muddy road till reach hotel.
Nobody at reception during lunch hour.
No working WIFI
No water heater, no fan, no intercom phone, no functional tv
Need to open window for ventilation but no grill, strangers can climb in anytime during sleep
Noisy if other guests partying
No breakfast during puasa month
Not cheap for the service provided
Insects roaming inside room, esp mosquitoes disturbing sleep due to no netting

Only advantage is good scenery.
Will not visit and stay again

There was no Wifi service though it was stated in the amenities.

During check-in, the hotel staffs (3 ladies & a man) told us that the 2 rooms which we booked were at different locations, one nearby the office(with Wifi coverage) , the other up the hill (without Wifi coverage). And therefore they (on their own without our knowledge or consent) arranged for us two connecting rooms up the hill.

We told them that we needed Wifi service but did not know why they just kept persuading us to take the 2 rooms up the hill where there was no Wifi coverage.

Finally, we told them that we wanted to take a look at the rooms first to decide, but the man did not allow and said we must decide on the spot because other guests were looking for rooms. (Later that night, we went out to check and found that many other rooms were unoccupied ! )

They actually forced us to accept what they had arranged though we were paying for the stay !

When we got to the rooms, we saw a cockroach crawling on the mattress, the room seemed like to have been left empty for quite some time with spider webs on the ceiling & the tap water was muddy. You simply can't watch the TVs due to poor aerial reception! We asked for assistance but the staff ignore

Later, we found that the electric kettle was actually used earlier for boiling tea and left unwashed !

I had been to Kundasang a dozen times and i must say this is the worst experience for me except the scenery / mountain view here is awesome. What a pity !

The road is in a very bad condition and only certain car can reach the hill.the tv channel are nt fnctng...there is no 3 in 1 drinks gven and u hve to go and ask urself at rgstratn. The toilet bowl is dirty and sme goes to the mirror and sink...bt the view is vry beautiful...also the cushion cover is very dusty and the colour are alrdy dull and dirty and need to be change bcoz for panaromic hnyemoon room...people wantd to wtch tv due to no activts at nght on kndasang bt the tv chanel is in vry poor signal..

The view is awesome

The view is really amazing because the hotel is located at hill. I really love the view especially at 6-630 am. But the room is not really clean. The curtain is dirty and the toilet is smelly.

View of Kinabalu from balcony

Part of the road towards the hotel is really really terrible; very rocky, bumpy and many holes so do be careful. The room has no air conditioner or fan, you only get natural cooling. By night it's really cold here since they're are located quite high on the hill. There's a balcony for each room and a bigger platform for you to hang out outside. No mosquito.
