Room type and refund request

Althıugh I have mistakenly selected smoking room, I asked for a non-smoking room while at the reception check-in. The gentleman said ok and told me that he have changed my room to a non-smoking room. However when I entered my room I realized it was a smoking room. My stay and sleep was awful and I asked for a refund during the check-out. However the reception could not manage this request. Also, cold water was not working and both sides of shower water was hot. I also informed the hotel about this and asked for a discount and refund.

This stay was booked for a business associate of mine and I filled the paperwork for taking care of the charges, the accommodation was already paid for, I filled a form with my details for the incidentals and reiterated that the guest was not charged for incidentals on checkout, disappointingly the guest was charged on check out.
To add further insult to the matter, when the guest was checking out, she advised reception that this was paid for and showed a copy of the form and the staff member did not knew anything about it and said this form means nothing and the charges have not been paid for.
The guest was in rush as she had to catch an early flight and this was at 2am in the morning, so did not bother to contact myself or argue with rather uninformed night receptionist and paid leaving embarrassed about the entire situation.
I emailed my concerns to the reservations manager to no avail.
Needless to say is that I was embarrassed about the whole situation despite all the efforts to get this organised.

I am hoping that something will get done about it and someone will actually bother to look into this, as this what I would have expected from a reputable hotel as this.

Poor Service and Not Encouraging Stay

There was no readily available Vallet parking when I arrived and I had to ask for it and wait. Also, the receiving bell men and employees are not very welcoming. Also, a lot of the hotel furniture, amenities and accessories are old and worn out.

Better than half a dozen newer hotels in town

When I visit Riyadh on business, I invariably stay at the Sheraton. Call me old-fashioned, but I like staying where people know good service, where everything is as it should be and it's small enough to be navigable. Especially well designed for the business traveler. Not the flashiest hotel in town but arguably the best.

I was upgraded upon check in to a fantastic room on the 6th floor with a city view which had every amenity. When I arrived there was an issue with the heating in my room which was resolved within minutes. Room and bathroom were extremely clean, exceptionally comfortable bed and the water pressure in the shower was perfect. The breakfast buffet was sumptuous and to a very high standard with quality cuts. I ordered room service twice for dinner and was not at all disappointed on either occasion. Hotel staff were all genuinely lovely and helpful. The only gripe and it wasn't enough to put me off in any way was the unreliability of the key card. It kept malfunctioning both in the elevator as well as when trying to open the door to my room. I had a fantastic stay and I would definitely stay there again.

Good location and comfortable rooms, so many hidden fees .. when I was booking on Expedia it’s says with breakfast, but I was informed by reception team it’s not included , also they charged me extra for Riyadh season which was not part of my booking .
I was so disappointed as spa was only for men, again not mentioned on website .
I usually stay at Sheraton but this time I was very disappointed with over experience .

Decent enough place. one of the two restaurants was closed though so i had to have italian for 8 days (got a bit much and is quite far away from other hotels and places to eat)
also the internet was terribly slow, although i've not found a hotel in saudi that has a speed thats usable to be fair.

the hotel is far away from any shop. I reserve a room by my credit card, but the hotel took 900 SAR deposit. the room is noisy, because the window is not close tightly. there is no shop inside the hotel. in the midnight I ask them to provide me a I-phone wire charger, but they don't have.

Fantastic service! Very kind staff who went out of their way at all times. We were staying on the club floor which was stocked with free snacks every day. The beds were very comfortable and the room size was decent. Breakfast was absolutely fabulous. I especially loved their French toast.
The Music in the lobby was quite annoying though and seeing as we were in Riyadh in KSA, we were slightly taken aback by that.

I used Room No 210. Room space is big. Bed is very confortable. W/C is clean but the problem is the furnature very old. Room service bad too. food not teast good . louby is noicy. The location is good not far from Olaya Street.

i used Room 408 it was not bad. Room size is big enough, bed is confortable and clean. carbet is derty. W/C is big and clean. Location is good. the bad things in the hotel is no tissue in the room and the food valu is very expensive.

Nice hotel but breakfast was disappointing

I arrived about 10pm on a Thursday night and had reservations for 12 rooms at the Sheraton. I stayed for two nights. The check-in was a bit slow at the beginning because there was only one person checking in. After 15 minutes someone else came on shift and was able to get all of us checked into our 12 rooms. I stayed on the third floor which was called the club level. The room was very nice and had all the amenities in the bathroom...including dreaded scales. The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioner kept the room at a nice temperature. The breakfast was also served on the same floor. This was very convenient but the selection was VERY disappointing. There was only one person on duty and he was having a hard time keeping the four warm items stocked at the counter. The selection was very minimum and not at all what one would expect from a 5 star hotel. The last day of check out was very quick and convenient. The guest service counter even printed all the boarding passes for our group of 23 travelers. I would recommend everything about this hotel with the exception of the breakfast. It really needs to be improved.

Satisfactory but outdated

Didn't meet the standard I'm used to from Starwood and subsequently have stayed elsewhere on my recent trips. Wi-Fi was weak at best unless you purchase a premium option. Room is very outdated but the bed is comfortable. Dinner in the Italian was nice and the service was good, breakfast was average. Some maintenance going on in the hotel, Lifts and Restaurant.

Good location that lets you avoid traffic during peak hours. Hotel is undergoing renovations so there is only one elevator that is currently working, but otherwise in good condition.

Bring your own coffee!

The hotel facilties in total are nice, but the main drawback is that there are no tea or coffee making facilities within the room.

There are two separate breakfast restaurants - one a full buffet and the other a smaller (but sufficient) buffet, with the latter included in the room rate. Unfortunately also in this latter buffet you cant get coffee or tea for breakfast (unless you can wait 20 minutes), as they don't put the coffee with the main buffet, but keep it in the kitchen. So you have to find and ask a staff member to go and get you one (in theory there is someone suppossed to be serving at the buffet but he is either never there or spends his time dogin something else). during my 17 days there I managed to get coffee on 3 occassions

Disappointing. Elevator was not working on 4th floor. Food was very expensive and quality was just ok. Bad musty smells in the hallways and rooms. Expected better from Sheraton especially since it's their only property in Riyadh. Will not plan to stay there again. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

Wow...who ever classified this hotel as a 5 star has never ever stayed at a 5 star hotel. It's definitely no more than a 3 star, i.e. just "ok"...not bad but definitely not good. Funky smells in hallways and rooms. Food is at 5 star prices (i.e. very expensive) but quality is certainly no more than 3 stars. Elevators were not working on all floors. Can't believe that this is Sheraton's only property in Riyadh and this is the best they can do. Very disappointing. Will definitely chose another hotel next time. The staff was very friendly and helpful so that was the only redeeming factor.
