I called the night before to be assured that i could check in late as I would be traveling from out of the country and was told it would not be a problem. Upon arrival, there was a sign that said staff would not be there after 11pm with a number to call. I called the number about 10 times and no one picked up. I could see my room key sitting on the desk so i grabbed it at which point someone came out to greet me, the maintenance man. There was a slight language barrier which i don't fault him for it. He escorted us to the room and opened the door, a wave of heat exited which was unbearable. The room was 89°F/32°C (heated by a space heater). I advised the maintenance man that there was no way we could stay in that room. He called the manager, which was the same number that no one picked up for at the beginning and was told to switch our room. He then had to go back downstairs and get us a new room key which was a few doors down. Once in that room, the temperature was 66°F/18°C. I turned the thermostat to heat the room up and at no point did it ever let out any hot air but there was another space heater in this room. I'm assuming that the heat did not work at all on the hotel. There were also stains on the furniture in this new room. It was at this time we decided this was not the place for us. We told the maintenance man who then had to contact the manager again. For a luxury resort, i do not feel they were very luxurious. I hope this review helps anyone for future bookings.

We had never stayed at this resort before. We booked it because it would be central to our “ adventures” for two days. We stumbled upon something really serene. The property is beautiful and the fact that it was so quiet ( not on a main road) really played to our “ quiet getaway” vibe. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. The room was modern, but it didn’t take away from the overall feel of the place. We will definitely try and stay here again.

We had a great time here. Staff was amazing! Best concierge I’ve ever encountered and the space and property was gorgeous. The room was nice but the tub didn’t hold any water so we couldn’t enjoy the deep soaker tub. Downfall was that it is in the middle of nowhere and you need to drive to do anything. Also, there were no amenities of something to do. The resort would benefit from a billards room or something g to entertain guests. Also, breakfast was included but very minimal with little to no options. Considering the luxury aspect, I would’ve assumed breakfast would have been more than muffins and yogurt. Overall, it is a beautiful event space but not for a weekend getaway, unless your plan is to stay in the room or walk the grounds.

My daughter and I had a great stay. The rooms are small but nice. The bed was comfortable, the room was pretty quiet even though we were next to the elevator. My only complaint would be that the room was very bright even with the blackout curtains but nothing a sleep mask couldn’t fix. However, what stood out the most was the employees. Everyone that we encountered at Mount Alverno was so friendly and accommodating. They made sure that we were had whatever we needed fo our stay. It made our entire weekend enjoyable. Thank you to everyone.

An odd place-so much potential but not quite there. Looks super nice at first glance but once you actually take a longer look there’s a fair bit wrong/weird. Upon arrival, we were asked for any credit card with no explanation what for (and did get charged an extra $16), we were told that there was a wedding that night and to expect rowdiness until around 1am and to “get so drunk that we pass out and don’t have to worry about the noise”. Quite small room with a bed made without a fitted sheet but instead with 2 flat sheets tucked, a massively cracked mirror, barely any toilet paper with no replacement, didn’t seem to be a restaurant or at least access to it. Staff wasn’t too friendly and most didn’t seem to know what they were doing (except one lady that was helpful in getting us ice late at night and the man working during the breakfast). Overall not a horrible experience, just pretty strange and likely won’t return.

The check-in process was great and we were upgraded to a room with a soaker tub, which we loved.

The restaurant is very small, but the food was great and the server was wonderful (although, working alone and running around doing it all, while the manager, or maybe owner or something?, was drinking with friends). The breakfast bar was also quite good and the server very attentive.

The room was very nice, but the finishings were a bit less than luxury. The soaker tub leaked and wouldn't keep water in it. The sheets on the bed weren't fitted sheets for some reason, and the whole bedding was coming apart at night. We couldn't figure out if the TV worked, but we enjoyed having a couch in our room. The rooms are advertised as sound-proof, but we could hear people in the hall at night and kids running around in the morning.

The grounds around the place (although somewhat under construction) are secluded and beautiful. They have a good outdoor space to lounge and enjoy a drink or coffee.

Seems like a new venue or venture. Loved the property surroundings being in the country, very quiet. Seemed to be upgrades or renovations going on though, our hillside view was blocked by a tree and a big excavator right outside the window. Rooms were fairly clean and well designed though. May be better once the improvements are completed in 2026.

Well, I was greeted by a hair ball and some kind of crumbs (cookie crumbs??) in my room. Next, the view from my room, if I blocked out the broken down equipment and the fences and stacked chairs, and the incredibly dirty windows, it was beautiful. There is a lot going for this property but it needs significant work to get it to premier quality. The food was terrific.

I have travelled extensively for more than 40 years and have never stayed in a hotel room with no chairs. The was an awesome 55” tv with no cable, so why bother with a TV?
The air conditioning was atrocious, noisy and went from freezing to warm in minutes. No shower curtain or door, so water went all over the floor.
Can’t comment on the food as the menu was very limited and expensive. We had not planned to eat there anyways.
You can see that they are trying, but I won’t be back.

The property has a number of high-end finishes and feels to it however they have also missed the mark in some areas. There was no walkway from the parking to the hotel. The front desk clerk argued with me about my online booking experience. The elevator was slow and awkward. There was no light at the end of the hall where our room was. The room was EXTREMELY small and difficult to move in. The phone didn’t work. One light did not work. There was no cold water (only came out warm/hot). On the plus side, the bed was comfy and we had access to Netflix.

Stayed at Mount Alverno for the first time and we had a decent stay. The place was clean and spacious and staff was very friendly and understanding. While we didn’t have dinner on site we were notified about the restaurant and hours and appreciated the convenience of having it there. The downside of our trip was that upon going to our room and using the bathroom, the toilet started running (and draining) but would not stop. We called front desk and they sent someone to have it quickly resolved. Unfortunately after coming back from our dinner off site the same problem persisted and they offered to give us another room. We appreciated that and took the next room. Unfortunately this room was not as nice as our executive king room, but luckily there were no more toilet issues. Overall it was a decent stay and I would consider coming back and hope they have that toilet issue resolved.

Hi there website says luxury resort. This is definitely not a resort. It’s a two story building with 22 rooms that are sterle. Bed was small for a king, and very uncomfortable. The walls are so thin we could hear people in the next room. The dining room was six tables it was not a dining setting more like lounge drink setting. One thing front welcome staff was great after that couldn’t get a hold of anyone by phone called front desk 7 times. No tv cable at all. Bathtub was dangerous for elderly people. Not store on site nothing to do at all. Very expensive dinner and for room to be categorized as a luxury resort

The absolute most luxurious hidden gem, tucked away in the woods, with a gorgeous scenic view. The staff go above and beyond and beyond and beyond. The rooms are stunning. The restaurant and menu are top tier. I can’t believe I was lucky enough to find this place, very last minute, as I got trapped by the snow and closes roads. A little slice of heaven. An absolutely beautiful hotel. We had a gorgeous room with an enormous bathtub and a very comfortable bed. A couple of little things that I would have liked the European style bathroom that has a toilet in the middle of the room is not ideal, at least it wasn’t our first date! There are just certain things that you like to do in private. They have some very cool LED lighting in the ceiling however you have to have the main chandelier on in order to utilize it which seems to defeat the purpose.

Upon arrival we were given the choice of an essential oil to use in the diffuser, there was a beautiful bottle of steel and sparkling water in the fridge, along with some fresh fruit, delicious fudge, and a lovely shortbread cookie.

The restaurant was wonderful and the food portions were quite generous. We will absolutely stay again however we might look at whether there is a room with an enclosed water closet.

No Privacy, no room darkening

Complete let down. Terrible place. First room looked nice in picture but washroom is an open concept..meaning no door, no wall, no partition, you litterally have no privacy at all. Toilet right out in full view. Complained and was moved to another room but this one had curtains with no blinds that allowed so much light that you could not darken the room. Also had a broken transition on the floor that had a sharp edge. Finally requested a refund and was told the request had to be put through Hotels.com so called them to request. When they called the hotel, they were told the Manager was not in yet. We then left after only being on the property less than an hour. I have since been told by hotels.com that despite several attempts to get the manager to refund the money and trying to make them aware that they want their partners to be fair with travellers, the resort still refused. So, at the end of the day out $326 for nothing. I guess that kind of explains why there was virtually no-one else in the hotel.

The outside of the property was beautiful. Parking was odd and not thought out with snow plowing and such. The King suite was lacking the effects of a luxury resort king suite. Shower head too low, half glass on the shower is the dumbest thing i have ever seen. No hooks for towels. Tub is way high for short people, dont slip getting out i tell ya. Lack of finishings just dont vibe with a luxury resort. Mattress is to small for the bed. Ni menu for the restaurant there or really anything else offered for the property. Untapped potential

I thoroughly enjoyed my overnight stay at the Mount Alverno Resort.

I received a warm greeting from Prabhleen and GK upon check-in. The menu and the food were fantastic, Scott provided exceptional service in the restaurant.

As a result of the extreme weather conditions, I ventured out to start my car at 06:30. Raj at the front desk connected with me in the lobby, he offered me a coffee (30 minutes before the restaurant opened. Raj went on to talk to me about the resort, the trails and future plans to accommodate guests.

The only drawback is the resort doesn’t offer cable tv. I do like to tune into the news first thing each morning.

The resort is not as pictured, the room had the worst mattress of my life, the toilet was practically coming off of the wall... there was no shampoo, the smell in the elevator was horrible, the TV didn't work, the shower handle fell off in my husband hands. It was a DIY type of place, and not one as pictured on the listing. I honestly can say I don't think I've left a bad review, however this one is warranted. We stayed here expecting luxury as listed, however the mattress at a comfort in would have been better.. the thermostat also didn't work.

The room was lovely, very comfortable bed and amenities... and nice and quiet. Even the maintenance staff had to deal with some things in the hallway, but we didn't hear them at all. Lovely time and lovely property.
