No door on bathroom, toilet viewable from very public sliding glass door on public walkway, no tv, Onsite food very bland and way overpriced. Site not walkable to anywhere. A day into the stay, I came down with bronchitis - asked to cut stay short to move to more comfortable location -owner refused.!!! Absolutely unbelievably bad treatment. Some of the rooms look like their website, and would have probably been ok. If you see good reviews, its probably for 2 of the 7 or so rooms. Beware of this place!!! Chang Rai is great though, just dont stay here!

Our stay was wonderful. Attractive, comfortable room with a terrific view. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was delicious. The grounds are peaceful and attractive. The best place to stay when visiting Chiang Rai.
Using your bikes was the ideal way to visit the Baan Dam Museum.

We loved our stay at the Bambuh Homestay. The owners are kind and easy to communicate with. Everything was organised well and questions were answered easily. The property is a little oasis in the jungle. Our room was beautiful with a lovely patio where we could sit and listen to the rain. It was exactly the restful stop we needed. Can’t wait to come back!

This truly was an amazing space, I was looking for a place to relax and unwind, and somehow found the perfect spot. The grounds are like a garden. The rooms are perfect and clean. The staff was there, but not in your face, had great conversations at breakfast when I wanted and was able to be quiet when I wanted. Truly amazing and beautiful.!

We loved Bambuh Boutique! Small quiet property and the caretakers are very kind. Home cooked breakfast including home roasted coffee. Lovely big rooms and the AC worked well. Note that the location is not near anything and Chiang Rai in general is very spread out. We booked many Grabs to get around. Recommend hiring a driver for a day to see the temples, markets etc.

Very nice property if you want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle, but if you plan to visit the city, it is a bit far off from the tourist areas. Also, there is very limited dining options in the evening in the immediate vicinity, and not everyone would be comfortable walking in this area after sunset. That being said, the property is beautiful, the rooms clean, and the staff/owners were very friendly and helpful.

The room was a concrete room as opposed to the wooden room on the website.

The neighbours’ rooster will wake you up at 5 am. The kitchen opens for coffee at 7 am.

Lovely guesthouse set in beautiful grounds in a quiet semi-rural location. Very friendly and welcoming. Delicious food. Good centre for exploring the area. We borrowed bikes for a day and explored nearby villages and waterfalls.

We had a wonderful experience with Kallaya and her team. The property was beautiful and provided a serene escape. Breakfast was amazing and always delicious, a great way to fuel up for the day. Make sure to visit give green farm house restaurants next to the Black House for a delicious local meal.

Wonderful place to stay

Beautiful hotel just out of the main town. The site is lovely with gardens surrounding the buildings and a pineapple field to walk through. The room was stunning with an excellent bathroom and veranda. The breakfast was delicious, especially the Khao Tom. The dinners were also a delight, freshly cooked and delicious. Wonderful peaceful retreat to stay in if you want to get out of town and into sone nature.

This place is a true gem in Chiang Rai. Absolutely stunning accommodation and great food! The rooms are so spacious, clean and modern. The butterflies and birds on the property are also so pretty. It’s truely a little paradise! The owners are also so friendly and extra willing to help out to make sure your stay is a perfect one! They were extra helpful with our special requests and They gave us great recommendations of things to do as well. It’s a little bit outside the city but with their free bikes or scooter rentals it’s not that hard to get into the city. The black museum is near by and so is great food! If you need an amazing place to stay in chiang rai then this is your place!

This has to be one of the most beautiful places I've stayed in. The views through the big windows makes you feel you're staying the in the forest. You must stay here - a slice of paradise Ch Rai

We were booked in for only one night at this beautiful oasis but as soon as we arrived and we’re warmly welcomed, walked through the garden forest to our pod, man we wished we had booked in for longer!
The owners were amazing, friendly and helpful. We opted for a home cooked dinner and we were not disappointed.
The garden forest is truly stunning and we took great pleasure in exploring, ending in a small stream and views over the rice fields.
Our accommodation was beautifully looked after, cosy and pretty.
If we didn’t have to get a flight the next day, we totally would have borrowed a couple of bikes (which they offer free of charge) and taken a cycle around the idyllic countryside!
Thank you for an incredible stay. We can’t wait to visit again!

Unforgettable stay with a personal touch

Staying at Bambuh was amazing. Mark and Ya were extraordinary hosts, and we definitely look forward to returning. The delicious food, beautiful room, peaceful environment and family-like care provided by Mark and Ya make this a very special place. After we left, our 7-year old asked us: “why are we leaving Bambuh?” We didn’t have an answer. We didn’t want to leave either.

Very natural surroundings. Newly build rooms so in perfect condition. We stayed in the Elite chalet. The bedroom area is traditional and vast. The bathroom area is modern and also vast with wet room. There is a large veranda to sit and contemplate.
Ya is a lovely lady, hospitable, super helpful and a great cook. Mark is very busy making Bambuh perfect. You are outside of the city for sure but can get back and forth really easily and relatively inexpensively

Ya and Mark are also very keen to help your Chiang Rai experience the best it can be by helping you organise any trips or drivers

Paradise in Chiang Rai

Beautiful homestay. Grounds are immaculate. Owners are friendly and very helpful and at the same time give you space. We felt like we were at home. The breakfast and dinners are outstanding. They have all the little aspects taken care of to a tee. Highly recommend.
Great location just out of the buyness of Chiang Rai but still not too far. Quaint town with lots to explore.

Positives, beautiful garden, very peaceful and clean. Negatives, greeted with \"Yes? \", no check-in as such, room is less than 20m2, neighbouring room guest's are very audible, no room slippers even though shown in the photo, breakfast rather pricey for a homestay at 165baht and trip from the main road is a good 5minutes down some very small road. Dissapointed overall as other than the maid everyone else seemed to preoccupied

An exotic gem, highly recommended

Another gem of a hotel, or rather a homestay, as you are taken very well care of the hosts Mark and Ya. They help you out in every way, and serve home made breakfast when you turn up in the morning, and even lunch and dinner if you tell them in advance. The place is a little outside the city, but that is the point and charm of it. Sitting on your veranda taking in the jungle feeling of the garden, with people working on the rice fields in the far, with the mountains as backdrop, is good for you soul. And Mark understands perfectly when you need a Chang. The feeling is peaceful and secluded, but at the same time it is only 20 minutes or less than 200 bht. to wherever you want to go. If you don't decide to just stay on the veranda and write your memoirs, to the sound of the jungle, the neigbours´ rosters and the odd motorcycle. The place is every bit as exotic as in the pictures, and with a modern bathroom and stabile and fast wifi.

We booked this property knowing it was not located walking distance into town but it exceeded our expectations. You feel you have walked into your own private jungle with the trees and the landscapes and the peacefulness once you enter. Ya and Marc are amazing hosts. They are readily available to help book a taxi, a driver for the day and to offer recommendations of places to see, eat and shop. Make sure to take advantage of Ya's cooking! You will not regret it. We still have not found coffee that compares to what we were served there and I am looking forward to getting recipes from her. 100 percent recommendation from us.

A wonderful oasis of peacefulness after a day sightseeing with the masses. The rooms are clean and modern in design; the hosts are first-class. Location is at the edge of town but a short taxi-ride takes you downtown - but you most likely wouldn´t even want to go.

Bambuh Boutique Homestay is simply brilliant. The place is beautifully set up without too many rooms and overlooks the fields around the house. We felt at home instantly, especially since breakfast (and dinner if you ask) are served on the host's terrace. They helped us with maps, lists of things to see in the neighbourhood and recommendations on where to go / drink / eat etc. They have parking spaces and provide coffee/tea/drinks in the room.

Retreat style B&B with cool design

Unique experience in this lovely B&B. The owners are wonderful and always ready to assist. The architecture is a great combination of modern cool and local materials.

The location is away from busy streets in a truly rural area, maybe 10km from Chiang Rai. Feels like an off-the-grid retreat, great to unplug - no phone or TV to get in the way of relaxing on the large balcony.

Great owners and idyllic stay

Bambuh is located about 20 minutes outside of Chiang Rai city centre, overseeing a working rice field and adjacent to a pineapple field. The guesthouse is spacious for our family of 5, and beds are comfortable.

We stayed for 3 nights and based our itinerary based solely on Mark's suggestions. With a private driver, we saw the popular destinations such as the White Temple but also ended up in some lesser known destinations such as the old town of Chiang Sae and hiked to an amazing waterfall. Based on owner's suggestions we had a fantastic northern dinner in a spot popular with locals, and an all-day benny diner in a fine English House. Don't bother plan your trip in Chaing Rai, just talk to Mark!

Bambuh is not a resort, but a very good guesthouse where you feel the commitment that Mark and Ya has running the idyllic yet modern boutique guest house.

Owners were lovely and very helpful in planning a great stay in Chiang Rai. The location is very relaxing and we rode bikes to the nearby black house (famous tourist site). Was nice to be out of the city to enjoy some nature. Would definitely stay there again!

good but expensive homestay in remote setting

good to enjoy nature in remote setting in chiang rai if you don’t want to stay in city center. however be aware that it is quite far from city center and therefore not always easy to get a taxi (also expensive to go to city or other temples). bike rental available for free :)
nearby black temple museum and green restaurant which is quite good.
prices for homestay quite expensive but nice hosts and unique buildings. if you fully want to be only in nature without sightseeing planned, this place is good.
