The hotel was clean, the staff was very nice and helpful. Breakfast was okay but not fancy. There were a few things broken in the room. A lamp and a missing handle in the kitchenette. There was a sharp screw sticking out where the handle should be. We didn’t have small children with us so we didn’t worry about it. It was nice to have the kitchenette with a refrigerator and microwave. There were also 2 cook tops but we didn’t use those. The beds were comfortable but had an older look to the frames.

Last time that I stayed here, they only had a continental free breakfast. They have made it much better with eggs, sausage, waffles, and other good options.
The staff is super friendly. The rooms were clean and comfortable. We got 3 rooms. My sister thought her bed felt too firm, but the rest of us were fine.

We enjoyed our stay at Sands. It is our go to place to stay in SLO. The staff is always very friendly. We enjoy the clean rooms, the coffee and morning breakfast. Location is less than a mile to the Cal Poly campus in one direction and the downtown shops and restaurants in the other. Highly recommend as an affordable option to many of the other places that are similar for a much higher cost.

The staff was great and helpful but the first room ended up having a clog in the toilet. Apparently it affected the row of rooms we were in. They moved us to another room. The room was bigger and had a kitchenette but the bed was old and sagged in and I found a bug in the kitchenette.

Meh. It was ok. The main hotel strip is Monterey Rd /St and there are many other options. Would I stay again? Probably not but I’d go back to SLO in a heartbeat.

This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed at for the price. The property is extremely outdated and desperately needs renovation. The windows do not open, the walls are paper thin — you can hear everything from the rooms next door, even people sneezing. There were barely any outlets available to charge devices.

The included breakfast was disgusting — I am not even sure it could be called breakfast. The gym was also closed during our stay.

Overall, the experience was honestly unbelievable for what they charge.

This is an older hotel that has remodeled the rooms. It is clean, comfortable and easy access from freeway. The best feature of this hotel is the big well maintained swimming pool. The free breakfast is ample but not great. The new waffle maker is great! For a California hotel the fresh fruit is very sad. I gave the hotel all good stars because it works well for us.

The only thing saving this place is that the staff/front person was nice and that it has an awesome location but this place is really bad based on the price paid due to these reasons:
1) A/C unit didn’t work I came in with my family and two kids (two under two) we reported that the air conditioning was not working around 7 pm we were all sweating and they said we could only change rooms that no one could come and check it. Imagine switching rooms with two little kids going to sleep?
2) Bathroom did not flush we had to try many times in different ways and we struggle with it
3) If you’re with a family don’t recommend there were so many parties and loud music until late and we could hear them next to our wall
4) outside the room we found liquor bottles/cans/cigarretes in multiple spots every day during our stay
5) minor not terrible but nowhere to get waters or complimentary waters included unless you walk to gas station

I am disappointed for the price we paid and that we stayed here it did not made our vacation memorable with our family.

I don't trust hotel.com at this point. Reviews bragged about breakfast. It was mediocre. Hotel was run down hard mattresses.
Hotel.com is more interested in making money vs being transparent about hotel conditions. I have never been happy with the hotels through hotel.com

I recommend hotel tonight. Better prices better hotels

C+ Breakfast. Low grade yogurt with aspartame used as a sweetner. Carcinogenic. Eggs & sausage poor quality. Bagel & cream cheese good. Coffee C+
Parking spaces are okay and wide enough.
Room 131. Bathtub is dangerous. Slopes down towards the drain. Flimsy plastic cups in the room.
Bed was uncomfortable, lumpy, sheets were not tight and pillows lumpy/out of shape.
Front door not sealed properly. At night see light from outside. The accommodations do not warrent the cost. Very disappointing.

Overall, my stay went well. There were 2 glitches that required maintenance intervention, but the staff responded immediately and in a friendly manner, and I had to wait just until the next day for one curtain rod fix.
The room was large and clean, the bathroom was very nice, there was plenty of room to store clothing, the shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer and such were much appreciated, as were the refrigerator and microwave, and I was happy to have breakfast available. Parking was ample ... the pool was a nice size, though I didn't use it, due to temperature and my schedule.
The only downside was the amount of noise I could hear from the adjoining room ... the door in between does not provide much of a sound barrier ... it wasn't constant and didn't interfere too terribly much, but it was noticeable.
I would stay there again.

The staff was very attentive and polite. We arrived after hours, and even the over-the-phone team was polite and accommodating. The place is older, sure. But the cleanliness and price point can’t be beat. The room smelled nice and clean. Clean linens. Newer furniture. Would recommend.
