It's was the worst experience ever at Riu, the resort refused check in for my 17 years old,they need an adult 18 and older to check in, my daughter who is 22 asked to check in for him, the reception asked to change reservation under her name which I did, then they asked for extra charge of USD 740.00 , we did agree upon despite we knew it was ripping off money, with all these efforts, they insisted on their decision not to check in,leaving 17 years old Canadian on the streets without accomodation at 3 AM .
Unfortunately,we are witnessing such unethical and unprofessional behavior from ignorant staff,which definitely will trigger a legal action .

Very nice resort. Food was excellent but bad time of the year for beach access. The weather was windy which created rough waves and seed weed. The only complaint I have was the bed. The mattress was very uncomfortable and woke up every morning very stiff. The entertainment was great every night. I traveled alone and felt very safe and met a lot of wonderful people.

The only issue was that expidia said it had 900 credits for the resort but it was 900 dollars in cupons that was only 20 dollars off here and 10 dollars off there.... not much anything else. And it was quite a bit aways from the airport id prefere to stay somewhere closer in the zona hotelera

I liked that there was an adult pool and made sure everyone was being safe. The room was very clean including the shower which usually smells like mildew. The entertainment could have been more involved on Mexico’s match Thursday with face painting and flags but it was still nice to be able to see the game on a big screen! The halls were very clean. The grass was always taken care off. The buffet met my standards. The brasas restaurant was ok, I wish my vegetables were alittle more grilled. The pasta at Pompeya was good but could’ve had more seafood. The staff was very helpful with good humor! I look forward to visiting again. Shout out to Willy, Angel and Santiago for making me feel so welcomed!!

Everything is in close proximity. All the restaurants are next to each other. RUI PARTIES are great. Check the calendar in the room and make sure you stay in the resort for that day. Pool water is too hot. No relief from the heat. But otherwise ok nice stay

We had a wonderful stay and truly enjoyed our vacation. The hotel was always very clean, and it was clear that the staff worked hard throughout the day to keep everything spotless and running smoothly. We constantly saw team members cleaning, monitoring the facilities, and making sure guests were having a great experience.

The buffet food was good, with plenty of options for everyone, even though some dishes were repeated throughout the week. We especially enjoyed the pools, daily activities, and the evening shows.

The highlight of our trip was definitely the RIU Party Neon Night, which was so much fun for the whole family. Our three kids also had an amazing time on the water slides.

Overall, the atmosphere was welcoming, fun, and family-friendly. We did not experience any problems during our stay and would gladly return in the future.

Our stay at Riu Dunamar exceeded every expectation. The resort was spotless from the rooms to the pools, restaurants, and common areas. Everything was beautifully maintained, and there was always something fun happening throughout the day for both kids and adults.

The beach was absolutely beautiful, the water slides were a huge hit, and the food was delicious with plenty of variety. The amenities and activities kept our family entertained the entire trip.

What truly made our stay special was the incredible staff. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. They always greeted us with a smile and went above and beyond to make us feel at home.

A highlight of our trip was how they celebrated my son’s birthday. We returned to our room to find balloons, rose petals, and a handwritten birthday note waiting for him. It was such a thoughtful surprise and created a memory our family will never forget.

This was our first time staying at this RUI. We were pleasantly surprised. It is located north of the hotel zone so it was very quiet. Very relaxing. Staff were very helpful especially Harry at the front desk. He was able to get a rubber tip for my cane and got me hooked up with a wheelchair. This resort is large and alot of walking. If you have problems walking I would definitely get a scooter or wheelchair. Just go to front desk and ask, mine was delivered the next morning. This was an extra charge but so worth it.

The hotel is beautiful , the garden are so well maintained and pretty, the pools are big and clean too , the night show and the partys sooo good .the rooms were clean and the staff very helpful specially Cindy from the buffet restaurant. The only thing I consider not good was the food at the buffet and pompeya restaurant, sometimes you can find something to eat but almost all the time I find the food bad ( my opinion ok) and I'm not a picky eater either.
The steak house las brasas was good and the Bamboo too. No reservations needed.

We went to their specialty restaurants where they clearly say you don’t need a reservation. But when you get to the restaurant, first no one was attentive. We waited approximately 15 minutes for someone to come to us to tell us that we could not be seated because they were full.

We had a great time at the resort! It is a large resort with plenty of activities day & night.The beach was gorgeous and they work hard to keep it clean. There was a lot of seaweed during our stay but it did not stop us from swimming in the ocean. It was so much fun. The pools are nice and the bartenders were fun! The two bars inside the main lobby were the best, we loved the chocolate and expresso martinis! We never had a problem getting into any of the restaurants. Food was decent, we were able to find things we all enjoyed. The entertainment was great. We got to enjoy a white party and a Michael Jackson performance. You can easily schedule excursions from the resort which was very convenient. The rooms were decently spacious with blackout curtains. The beds are on the smaller side and they offered to bring another twin bed for us so we each had our own beds. Housekeeping did an excellent job keeping our room clean and stocked with towels. The resort is spread out so prepare to get your steps in! We never mind that. The resort is in a gated, more secluded area away from any thing other than more resorts but it has pretty much everything you need. I would recommend this to adults and families if you are looking for something budget friendly and nice. It made for a very memorable experience!

KEEP LOOKING! we come to cancun multiple times a year and this has been the worst experience yet! The pools are separated-family and adults. The swim ups are adult only. Not convenient. The beach, lame. The food, eh, average? Good luck with finding a good drink. A/C was terrible UNTIL we complained 3 times. They could just fix it. The power went out 3 times. The amount of rules they have is insane! The Waterpark is closed every monday. You have to ask for the minibar/sodas to be replaced EVERYDAY! they \"cleaned\" our room but left no clean towels. The staff isnt as friendly as other places We've stayed. The shows are a JOKE! we love a good michael Jackson show when we come, but nope, not this time.
The buffet is better than all the speciality restaurants.
Also, the people that stay here weren't even friendly. Not something we are used to down here.

We stayed for 4 nights the foods was great , the hotel was very clean but one of the nights there was a power outage, which interfered with air conditioning leading to a very uncomfortable night of sleep. some of the staff, especially waiters and waitresses, were very rude, sometimes showing an attitude when asked for something. And on top of that the cleaners start cleaning rooms by 7 a.m. horrible experience. Worst experience in all my Stays in Cancun and anywhere else.

First day I had no electricity. Not only that but there were stray dogs lined up by the buffet area where you eat. As a dog lover myself this is disgusting. Thirdly they have 1 ice machine per floor, which means if you are in the ocean view rooms you have to walk over two blocks just to get ice. Lastly the food was terrible, only buffet style food at all the restaurants. Lunch was delicious but everything else was terrible. I will not be returning to this establishment.

I would not stay here again. The food is a huge part of the experience on a vacation and sadly this misses the mark in so many ways. We barely could eat by the end of it. They say the food is à la carte but it’s actually a buffet at every restaurant with a few items to choose à la carte that come to you cold. It says no reservations, but many restaurants didn’t have openings.
The staff unfortunately, aren’t the happiest. We were here for a wedding so typically don’t stay at a hotel of this level so maybe that’s why the staff weren’t as happy as what we’re accustomed to. They’re extremely strict including you need a card just to get a pool towel. And you can only get one towel all day, even when it poured rain. We were not able to exchange our towel for a dry one.
Ceiling fan fell right off the roof in the room mid night😳 the list goes on and on.
I would just not recommend staying here even if you have to spend a little bit more money, it is not worth it here. Sadly by the second last day, we got very sick (I think from the food) and multiple people in our party did throughout the week.

The hotel was nice overall, the food was good, and there were several pools to enjoy, including two adults-only pools, which we really appreciated.

However, there were a couple of disappointing issues during our stay:

* On two different occasions, the hotel alarm went off and we were told to evacuate the building. Both ended up being false alarms. The second one happened at 6 AM, and when I called reception afterward, there was no apology or explanation.
* The air conditioning stopped working for an entire day and, more importantly, throughout the whole night, which made it very uncomfortable.

As I said, we still had a nice stay overall, but considering the other options available, I don’t think we would return.

The stay was overall good. The staff is excellent. Carlos housekeeper very good, Monse at the Jardin lounge is excellent service. Eddy at the pool bar was excellent. When I called the reception because I needed coffee, water, Pepsi it was done right away very attentive. The negative things where having to pay $3 to play pool at the sports bar, the bathroom from the pool where to much water on floor, an that's nasty. An the bathroom on the room there was always a smell of urine. It was definitely coming from the pipes working it's way up. An lastly the room was to warm. I tried to lower the temperature but I could not do it . It was always at 25.5 C I lost sleep because of too warm.

We had a great experience on our girl's trip.
The check in & check out service was quick and easy.
The room was clean. We loved that we could request more waters, beers, towels, whatever we needed in our room from the app.
The service at the bars was great. Friendly staff.
We only had a few days here, so we didn't do any excursions or leave the resort. Everything we needed for a few days was there. We just bounced from the pool to the beach every day and the water slides were fun. We traveled without our kids, so we liked that most of the time we weren't around any. One of the pools was more family oriented and the other was the adults drinking. Restaurants & buffets were good.
The only slip up was one of the service restaurants took FOREVER one of the nights we had dinner. (they said they were understaffed that night) We were seated at the table probably 2.5 hours and many people kept leaving because the wait to get food, drinks, & service was very long.

Stayed at Riu Dunamar recently and overall it was just okay. The rooms were decent, but they don’t offer queen beds which was a bit inconvenient. You can also hear everything through the walls. We could hear people next to us talking and babies crying all night, which made it hard to sleep.

The food was hit or miss. The steakhouse didn’t match the photos at all, and the chocolate dessert had a strong fridge taste.

It’s definitely kid friendly, which is great for families. However, the pools could use more frequent cleaning. At one point there was even a hot dog floating in the pool, which wasn’t a great experience. Also, the water park is closed every Monday, which is something to keep in mind when planning.

It was a nice trip overall, but not somewhere I would personally return to.

We had a great time at Riu Dunamar! It was our first time there for spring break. The whole family had a great time! We ranged in age between 7-50 years. The water park was great for all ages. There was multiple pools at the property, some are for adults only but most were for the entire family. They had pool activities which added some action and entertainment to the day. There was night events that included adults and the young ones as well which was great! There are a variety of restaurants plus a buffet that changed the type of food daily. The food was good, everyone was satisfied! They offered water excursions for an additional charge. We did a couple of them, they added some fun to our stay! They have an app for the resort that shows the restaurants with their menus and times. Daily activities schedule and attire requirements and suggestions. They have a gift shop on sight which is very expensive, if decide to purchase something from their make sure to have a credit card handy as they don't charge anything to the room. The resort is not close to anything which we were fine with since there was enough activities on sight. They do offer airport transportation that you have to arrange a week in advance but it is not offered if you book through Expedia, it's only offered if you book directly through them.

Overall stay was a great time, I definitely recommend it!

I visited the resort with my family on Easter week of 2026.
The property and the room was clean, the specialty restaurants and the buffet had a very good selection of foods.
The only store on the property had very expensive items. Be sure that don't forget anything home because the prices were double or triple there without any other choices.
What really bothers me about this resort is the excessive noise all hours of the day or night.
It seems there's no noise barrier so anyone outside in the yard or hallways talking or screaming is like they're next to you in the bed.

We traveled for family vacation on a spring break. Once we came resort was overbooked and they asked us to move to another Riu Venture. Riu Ventura was not bad but not for kids. They have a lot adults only activities and it’s hard to explain kids why they don’t do face painting to kids, only adults who will go for night party to a different resort. We asked to do face painting for kids but they said they can’t . Don’t understand even now why it’s so hard to do couple dots on kid’s face.
Also they don’t clean beach at all. Food was good and restaurants good too.

Prices were very high comparing the hotel offers.

Here are the good: room was very clean, hotel was clean as well and well maintained, safe,
food was ok, Riu party for all was really great.

Not so good: the barbacue restaurant food could be much better some served seemed not fresh, more food options in the main restaurant and in the sports bar, the beach was full of weed and the trees had roots coming out of the sand, the entertainment could be better, the best was Riu party, other days were not so great. They could assist me better, I did not have a shuttle, when I called the hotel, instead of offer me shuttle options&tips, they told me to call expedia. Gym was very small and busy early morning.

Overall was acceptable, but could be done much better.

The nightly entertainment shows were the highlight of the trip and truly well done. The beaches were just okay, and unfortunately the water wasn’t swimmable for our 8- and 11-year-olds, which was disappointing. On the positive side, the water slides were excellent and a big hit with the kids.

The kids club is advertised for ages 12 and under, but in reality it felt much more suited for younger children. The food was better than what we’ve experienced at most resorts, which we appreciated.

That said, the daily pool entertainment and overall atmosphere fell flat. The activities lacked energy and felt more geared toward a much older crowd, which made it less engaging for our family.

Overall, we came away with mixed feelings. While there were some strong positives, it’s not a resort we would return to, especially since we travel to resorts twice a year and look for a more lively, family-friendly experience.

Be prepared to be at the pool by 6:30am if you want a chair—otherwise, you’re likely out of luck. Unfortunately, people tend to reserve multiple chairs and don’t even use them.
There’s no kids club, which I should have confirmed before booking. The food was okay but could definitely use more protein options.
Staff was hit or miss—some were friendly and welcoming, while others seemed unhappy.

Property and house staff were perfect, but we had a problem w security issue, my daughter purse with phone inside disappeared from a swimm up bar edge around 5pm. We traced the phone and was showing that was still there till 10.15 pm when cleaners left the pool. Then we saw it was on the move, security was still telling us that we will get it tomorrow in lost and found, but 15 min later when traced phone and showed up outside the main gate, then we run with security to check who have it. They catch the worker with my daughter phone, they talk to him for 10 min and let him go home. Im upset becouse when we could find her phone faster, nobody from security was interested helping until we pointed that our phone is outside the property. We spent almost 5 hours to find it ourselves around the pool area and, if we didn't run to the outside bus station to get it, we will never had this phone back.
