Our lake view was magnificent. Well worth the extra charge. The restaurant was top notch, gourmet. Wine selection was excellent. Continental Breakfast was very good. Staff was polite and helpful. Location to visit the sites and grab the ferries was Ok. Beautiful area. Not crowded.

The location of this hotel is fantastic right on the lake front with a lovely pool and sunbathing area with steps to swim in beautiful lake Orta. The restaurant is very good and busy so the noise from the restaurant may be disturbing but we were ok with the balcony door to our room shut.

On the first night, we ate in the restaurant. The food was expensive and the portions small – very 1980’s nouvelle cuisine – style over substance. We had to return a tasteless salad and pasta that was under-cooked - it was NOT al-dente, it was undercooked! The glasses of wine were small. The waiter that served us was unfriendly and thrust the wine list across the table right in front of my partner’s face to give it to me. We had to ask for the bill three times over a period of 30 minutes. We did not eat there again. There is more choice in Orta and it’s less expensive.

The reception and bar staff were friendly and helpful.

In the dining room used for breakfast, no staff greeted us, checked we were staying or our room number or showed us to a table. They didn’t engage with clients at all. The tables were not cleared of your used cutlery and crockery after finishing a course. They just piled up unless you took them to the kitchen. Often there were no bowls at the counter for fruit salad and nuts, they had to be fetched from the other end of the dining room, where the milk and yoghurt was stationed. The whole dining experience was not great.

The location on the lake was good. Clientele mostly over 55.

We had a wonderful 3-night stay at this charming hotel. The lakeside position is fantastic - it’s definitely worth paying more to get a lake view room. The room was quiet & clean with a comfortable bed and good linen - I think a proper feather duvet. We had a small balcony which was good for reading. The roof-top bar served pizza and light meals. We dined in the smart restaurant one evening - expensive but a lovely treat. The staff were very polite and friendly. Parking free in the hotel car park. The pool was closed for our visit (mid-May) but there were convenient steps down into the lake for some invigorating swims. I highly recommend this hotel.

Amazing location and pool makes the room bearable

The location of this hotel is superb. The pool overlooking the lake is second to none and was worth the stay for that alone. The restaurant put on a great dinner as well. The actual hotel room was simple and sufficient, but the mattress had a really musty smell that kept me up for hours, until I used towels as a barrier to block the smell. The breakfast should be skipped as well. But oh that view from the pool!

Lovely short stay

We had a lovely one night stay before heading to Malpensa, which was about 1 1/2 hours away. The hotel is right on the lake, we didn't get lake view rooms as they were full but the restaurant has a lovely view. There is a good pool (unheated) but most guests swam in the lake from the decking. An added bonus was the pedallo and canoes which were available to rent at a very reasonable Euro 10/hr.

The large room was amazing, looking out onto Lake Orta. Plenty of storage space. Really pleased that there were a fridge, safe (altho I failed to master it after many tries) & a kettle.
The bathroom looked smart, the shower was good. The 'modern' sink didnt have plug, weird, so couldn't wash 'smalls'. The fan was the loudest I've ever encountered in a hotel bathroom. Parking a nightmare

A very welcoming, extremely well located hotel in one of the most beautiful locations in Italy. I could have stayed here for weeks exploring the region, and this hotel would have been a terrific base. Great range of meals, wines, a bar and heaps of amenities. Staff never tire of offering good local advice.

Lovely position on the edge of Lake Orta

We stayed here 6 years ago and came again as we had loved it so much. It is still a lovely hotel perfectly placed at the side of the lake. It's position is magical. However this year it was spoilt by the room we were given. It was drab, dark with no balcony and overlooked a roof. We asked to change it but hotel was full that day but they did arrange to change it for the next day. The new room was so much better light, airy and a balcony. I would definetly book a lake view next time just to make sure you get a decent room and not leave it to chance. However it did not spoil our experience. The staff are helpful. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the lake is wonderful. Dinner in the evening varied. The sea bass for 2 was delicious. Pea risotto with prawns not quite so. Duck was delicious.
There is a lounge but during our stay not many people used it.

Great location on the lake.

Swimming in the lake and private pool available however you have to be up early to reserve your chair. This is annoying when they are empty most of the day. Opening the roof top bar earlier and putting a kettle in the room would make this an excellent first class hotel.

This little gem of a hotel on Lake Orta is just perfect. It’s a perfect location to soak up the relaxing, tranquil atmosphere. It’s sooo romantic. The restaurant was incredible too! All staff were helpful and friendly. The water sport facilities were great if you fancy something different to do. Taking in the view from the hotel with the sun shining is just breathtaking. Will definitely make time to visit again.

This hotel was wonderful in many ways especially the service from all staff and the food. Breakfast was by far the best we’ve ever had in Italy. Location on lakeside makes for lovely views and it has its own jetty for the ferry. Do choose lakeside room. Only problem was the noise from the roof top party which went on far too late and beds a little hard

Lovely lakeside hotel.

Charming hotel with particularly lovely staff. Pleasantly decorated rooms. Very good restaurant with dining room right on the lake. Likewise, the breakfast dining area is directly on the lake-the view is magnificent. It is a short drive to the Italian alpine town Omegna to the north for shopping, gelato, other restaurants, and the hot area bar although the roof top bar here seemed extremely popular. Only wish I checked it out. I am a big fan of, and have always stayed, at a small family run hotel directly in Omegna at the north tip of the lake but this place might have me changing that habit in the future. I was cheap and took a room facing the road. Next time I would choose a lake view room instead.

Worst One night stay in our 21 day trip through EU

Worst hotel in the entire 21 days and 13 hotels we stayed in our Europe trip. The room is right above a door that is being slammed behind the bar of the hotel. They slamming the door shut until 1 am in the morning. It was so bad you could feel it shaking the bed. When management was contacted he argued with us and tried to blame the air conditioning (what a joke!). I even went downstairs and closed the same door while my wife and him were in the room. My wife said see that noise and he pretended not to hear it. I loved most of the hotels in our stay and there are differences between hotels in US vs. Europe, but this one is just rude with a rude front desk crew! I love the lake and the nearby lake, but would never stay at this hotel, thank heavens it was only one night!

Ideally located for touring the region,

On the lakeside allowing for swimming in the lake or sunbathing on the beach, Having it's own stop for the ferry which connected all the main tourist spots was a bonus. Much quieter than the more popular nearby destinations but close enough to visit these locations by car.

Great Place to Kick Off Holiday!!!

Landed in Milan at 8:30 am, picked up the rental and was at the hotel by 11:30am. Immediately began to decompress. This is a terrific, quiet hotel, on the lake with a great dock and pool. We hung for two days and should have stayed longer. Balconies are great!

Very nice hotel, right on Lake Orta

Our room over looked the beautiful lake Orta. There is a boat dock and hotel swimming area, so it is very much a resort.
If you plan on going to the nearby town of Orta San Giulio, I recommend taking the public ferry that stops at both the hotel and the town. The travel times are limited, but very much worth the effort. You can then catch the other ferry that goes out to the island. If you drive to Orta San Giulio, parking is very restricted. Even with the \"tourist train\", you pay 5 Euros and have to walk down hill several hundred meters to the town. The walk back up the hill is challenging.

The restaurant was also right on the lake which was lovely, food was not so great and over priced (pay for the view definitely not the food!) it's also about 1 hour walk from the town itself which we didn't mind as it meant it was very peacful and quiet but some might.

Lakeside hotel with lovely views

Stayed here for 3 nights with my husband and adult son , as part of our holiday travelling through Italy and Switzerland. I had booked a triple room, which turned out to be quite small but it had a balcony which opened up right out on to the lake and the location more than made up for the size of the room. The room was clean and modern. The hotel has lovely terrace restaurant and coffee shop, a lakeside sundeck and a fabulous pool. There is a big reception and lounge area but the decor is a bit dated. Hotel is in a great location with ferry stop so great access to other places on the lake.

Il Giardinetto offers beautiful views of Lake Orta, and is right at the water's edge. It's convenient for those with cars (unlike hotels right in Orta San Giulio), but only a few minutes away from there and its selection of restaurants. Breakfast was quite good, too.

Idyllic Lakeside Hotel --we'll be back!

We loved staying at Hotel Giardinetto. We knew we were getting a double room with lake views, but when we arrived we were thrilled to find that our room (named Charlotte) not only had superb views, it had three little patios overlooking the lake, a kitchenette, two sofas, and two bathrooms! The kitchenette was equipped with a stove, a tea kettle, a small fridge, plates, wine glasses, etc. (We could’ve easily cooked meals there but ate out every meal instead.) The Queen-sized bed was very comfortable and the room was perfectly quiet, except for on our last night, when there was a thunderstorm. ;-) We also loved the refreshingly quirky decor--a change from the anodyne hotel decor you find in many U.S. hotels. We enjoyed two dinners at the restaurant, which also faces the lake. Both meals were memorably good: I recall an enormous super-fresh green salad (served with high-quality olive oil, of course, and balsamic vinegar), one of the richest, tastiest risottos I’ve ever had, and a substantial cheese plate with an unforgettable Taleggio. The service at the restaurant was excellent; I’ll never forget the kind Sicilian waiter who taught us how to properly eat the large prawns, shell and all. The wine choices by the glass were excellent and reasonably priced (5-6 Euro) and my husband loved his mojito, which we enjoyed during aperitivo on the outdoor patio.
We loved staying here and are already plotting our next trip to Lago d’Orta so we can return to Giardinetto!

A lovely lake view.

It's a great location if you have a room overlooking the lake. The staff are friendly and speak very good English, which was a great help. There's a reasonable amount of free car parking but you could struggle if there is a wedding on with lots of guests driving to the hotel. We got lucky and a space freed up with someone leaving as we arrived - don't know what we would have otherwise. The only real niggle was the lighting in the bedroom - the bedside lights are quite dim and the main light is located on the wall across the room, making night-time reading quite hard.

Fabulous views, fabulous food. Perfect!

A special holiday to celebrate my mother in law's 86th birthday. She had a premium room that was in the news wing of the hotel. Her view like ours was stunning. The hotel is lakeside and you could not wish for a more spectacular view. You have it from your bedroom and from the restaurant. I must make a special mention about the restaurant. We ate there three times and each time the service and the food was excellent. The staff in the restaurant made us feel very welcome. So thank you very much for making us feel special and for the birthday candles on my mother-in-law's desert on the Sunday night. Angelo, Jessica, Denis and Madou, thank you for your attention and for providing us with some special memories.
The hotel also has lakeside areas to hire a boat, a pedals, sunbathe and swim in the lake or the swimming pool. It really is wonderful and our second time, it probably will not be our last.

Very disappointed with room not on lake as it was dark and noisy. Hotel has wonderful view on lakeside but otherwise on busy road which is noisy. Swimming pool good for swimming but no room for sitting. Food in restaurant good but fairly pricey. Staff helpful.

Perfect location right on water both room and dining. Room rather spare with tiny uncomfortable shower. Bed/pillows adequate. Decor very nice. Great balcony overlooking lake. Common rooms rather dark and worn. Restaurant however wonderful setting and decor. Food incredible - great risotto. Service excellent. Small access to swimming in lake, also separate pool. Out of town so quiet and restful. Not superior for the jet set but great value, calm, unpretentious and therefore perfect for us

Romantic setting by the lake

We wanted a romantic break, and that is exactly what we had staying in this hotel. Our room was lovely and spacious, we had a superior room with a lakeside view, and quiet. It was definitely on the best side of the hotel as some rooms overlooked the dining area and pool, others had a room overlooking the road. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and well trained.We only ate once in the restaurant as the food was a bit ostentatious and pricey with it, but the setting was perfect on the outside terrace. Breakfast was good but the same every day. It would have been good to have a variety of fruit served, other than tinned peaches or pears. We had to ask for toiletries to be topped up in the bathroom, and water was only left in the fridge the first night. We would have expected these to be supplied especially as we had a superior room. You really need a car if you want to get about.

A reasonable base in which to explore Lake Orta with good car parking facilities.Rooms were small but we had a lakeside view with a good balcony and patio furniture. The breakfast was just ok and on one occasion we had to wait sometime for the empty cold meat tray to be changed. The restaurant menu was quite quirky but food was well presented and hot.

A night stop on the way to Tuscany

We turned the long drive to/from Tuscany into a merit by stopping a few more times than the traditional once and this was the third and final stop on the way down. Chosen because it is one of the smaller lakes and might be less congested in the summer peak period. This is how it turned out. Whilst the hotel was full the staff were able to be attentive. We might stay somewhere else but only in order to try a differnet location.

This is a peaceful retreat with the opportunity to socialize if you wish. Fantastic views over Lake Orta and easy access to the incredible village and island. The ferry even stops here! The staff are caring and do all they can to make your stay perfect. We feel fortunate to have found this lovely retreat.

Hele fijne accommodatie! Ortameer is vele rustiger als de andere meren. Je kan hier echt tot rust komen. Zeer vriendelijk, lekker restaurant, kindvriendelijk, fijn zwembad en meer!

Sehr schön

Der Kurzaufenthalt hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Waren wahrscheinlich nicht das letzte Mal hier.
Essen war sensationell. Und was mich besonders gefreut hat, dass ich mein Auto auf dem Hotelparkplatz laden konnte und erst noch gratis.

Ein sehr schöner Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel. Sehr schöner Pool und Privatstrand mit bequemen Liegen.
Das Frühstück war sehr abwechslungsreich und vielfältig.

Really nice hotel

Really nice hotel and a lovely deluxe room, with a balcony right on the lake. Breakfast is great, with good quality products - however, it's the same every day. Would be nice with some changes during the week.

Great 'beach'-area and a completely new swimming pool. We will be back! :-)

Tres belle découverte

Hôtel face au lac offre une vue exceptionnelle de jour comme de nuit. Un rooftop animé jusqu’à minuit. Nous nous sommes régalés au restaurant, les plats sont avec de justes quantités et le service est impeccable.

Restaurant and service was really good. For breakfast an extra coffee machine would be nice due to cue of coffee hungry people. More parking lots would be nice also - especially for electric cars.

parking was OK - kamer was OK - onthaal was OK
minder goed was de geluidsoverlast : bij aankomst was er een bruidsfeest met disc-jockey op het dak van het hotel, tot 23h00 - en ook de straat maakt ZEER veel lawaai, vooral van snel rijdende motoren. Onze kamer was aan de straatkant.
Dinner was de eerste avond zeer goed, tweede avond had ik \"vis uit het meer\" en daarvan ben ik 's nachts ziek geworden - is echt niet de klasse van het hotel waardig.
Conclusie : goed maar niet zeer goed.

Das Hotel liegt wunderschön und ist sehr liebevoll eingerichtet. Das Personal war sehr hilfsbereit und freundlich und die Küche sehr gut. Auch Parkmöglichkeiten gab es gute und ausreichend.

Zimmer mit Balkon gensu am See. Personal verdient 12 von 10 Sternen. Sehr zuvorkommend und nett. Das Restaurant ist auch sehr gut. Frühstück ist hervorragend.
