What qualities the Caladh lacks in its interior (dated and a bit musty) is more than compensated for by the delightful staff and the excellent food. In fact, we were very impressed by the restaurant. The breakfast buffet offers a 'full Scottish' or continental-style light breakfast while the lunch a dinner menus were quite varied, offering an Indian wrap, a Portuguese chicken sandwich (Nandos!) or local fish. So well done to the head chef and his team!

When I say I love this Inn, this is my second year visiting. The hot breakfast is great, customer service warm and friendly without being over done. I just love how they have created such a warm feeling environment to stay in. Its in easy walking distance to all shopping, site seeing, and ferry pick up. Yeah, this is my spot and i'm a budget travel gurl. Oh, oh there is a large grocery store next door that I discovered on this second trip.

This hotel is a huge disappointment. The bathroom was updated and that’s the nicest thing I can think of to say. The rooms were dingy, and well-worn. There was no thermostat in the room and no we have control with the heat/air conditioner. No mini fridge. No ice available. There was only one outlet and USB ports at all. It was extremely difficult for two people to charge, iPads, phones, etc. Additionally, it was noisy. There was ample parking I would never go back to this hotel

Hotel was a convenient pick-up location for the tour I was taking and also for exploring the port and nearby streets. The room was clean and comfortable.

Overpriced and disappointing

Felt that for the money this hotel was disappointing. We were greeted by a smell of overcooked cabbage in the reception area. The check in staff were pleasant and easy to check in.
The room was small and only one socket to either plug in the TV or kettle, not both at the same time. The road was noisy so couldn’t open the window.
Location was good for the ferry but this is the only positive I could find.

Only one issue! I booked this over 6 months ago and ended up in a room very far from the front desk and we were close to a “recycling?” Place that dumped bottles all night, very noisy. Other than that it was a pleasure and extremely convenient to the ferry and town. I would stay there again but not in room 11.

Stayed here 2 years ago and it hasn't really changed. I thought it was brilliant then and no reason to change my mind. Very, friendly and welcoming staff, everywhere was immaculate, my single ensuite room was amazing. Plenty of free car parking as well. Buffet breakfast choice was second to none and cooked food plentiful, hot and fresh. For other meals the menu choice was good and also included a Carvery, every night from 1700. Really good food. I will be staying again when I visit Stornoway next year!

It’s fine.

I had a single room overlooking what appears to be an outdoor storage space of the hotel. The room itself was clean with basic amenities. However, it was very noisy at night. I could hear the air conditioning (located right outside the window) all night, and hear people go in and out of their rooms. It is fine for a short stay. The hotel and restaurant staff are all very helpful.

Easy to walk into downtown Stornaway- just a couple blocks. Also a short 5 minute walk to ferry terminal- we pulled our luggage with no trouble. Very comfortable.

Maybe I made a mistake but I thought I'd booked a double room with a double bed. We got an accessible room with twin beds and a disabled persons bathroom! However the beds were comfortable and the room was clean, tidy and warm. The food on offer was very good, with a massive choice at breakfast, and the evening restaurant also provided either an al a carte menu or carvery/buffet style hot food. The staff were a mixed bag. One gentleman was very friendly and we chatted for some time about Lewis and local attractions etc. Others were perhaps too busy and we had to ask for a few things like milk for our tea, juice glasses, salt and pepper etc. On site parking was very good. Overall we enjoyed our stay despite the shortcomings.

On a 2 night stay, they put me in a room without a window. I don't ever remember a room without a window. They moved me the next day but the second room was more tired than the first. The breakfast was OK but felt a bit like a canteen. Good parking area but overall very dissapointed.

Stayed in the skylight single rooms which were OK but could be made better for a small amount of investment. Clean the skylight top, fit perpex near the top of the \"chimney\" to diffuse the light/give more noise insulation. Put a blackout blind across the bottom. It'd be an interesting experience for tourists who want to experience summer daylight hours without direct sunlight hitting the window.

I never knew single rooms with windows were a thing anymore - whilst it was clean, compact and bijou come to mind.

Apart from a skylight, the room was hot & stuffy and fairly uncomfortable to”try” and sleep in.

Breakfast was a free for all, with mass queuing around the buffet passé - they’re could of been a bit better organisation.

Adequate but light sleepers beware

Comfortable bed and a good breakfast to send us on our way. Check in/out efficient and all staff polite. We had a standard double and it seemed very expensive for the room size and quality. Biggest annoyance was the noise at night, or rather early morning (3-4am) the sound of vehicles or equipment moving around disturbed us and made it difficult to get back to sleep, even with windows fully closed. As it was only for one night as a result of ferry rescheduling it was bearable, but would be intolerable for multi night stay.

Pleasant Stay at the Caladh Hotel

My daughter and I stayed 2 nights at the Caldah Inn on April 11 and 12. The hotel and rooms were very clean and beds comfortable. The front desk service was very helpful in getting a dinner reservation for us at the Royal Hotel and coordinating some laundry laundry which was sent offsite. The breakfasts were also excellent, with a broad selection of delicious fresh and cooked food. The hotel is also very centrally located and a quick walk to the town centre. Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at the Caladh Hotel.

Conveniently located hotel - within easy walking distance from the ferry terminal, and town centre. Staff friendly, and efficient.Room was well appointed, and spacious (ventilation needs improved though, as there was heavy condensation on inside of windows). Otherwise room was clean, and regularly serviced. Wide food choices for breakfast which is served buffet style, so best to arrive at start of allocated sitting to ensure freshness. Evening meal was option of a la carte, or buffet. We sampled both during our stay, and both equally good quality. As the a la carte dishes are prepared to order they are obviously fresher. Limited public areas to relax in outwith bedroom - the residents lounge was closed (presumably due to pandemic restrictions),and the small public bar area only had two tables.

2 day business trip - husband and wife.

Property and room were well appointed, fully functional and clean. Room was spacious, comfortable, quiet and cosy. In general, the hotel staff were friendly and responsive. Only disappointment was our reception and the absence of briefing on our first arrival. After phoning the hotel in the morning of our arrival day to advise that we would be late owing to intimation to us of a six-hour delay in the Uig to Tarbert ferry crossing and being told by a cheery receptionist that that would not be a problem at the hotel and that the night porter would be waiting for us, we were met by an indifferent receptionist who appeared irritated. I made a crack about expecting to be met by the night porter, which went down like a lead balloon, and I was told that she was the receptionist. I was told the number of our room, handed our room key and pointed to the lift. We weren't given any facilities briefing or breakfast times and, particularly as it transpired, weren't told that those who weren't with bus tours had to book a breakfast time. There was no hotel information book in the room. Other than feeling that our late arrival was a bit of a hindrance and that information that should have been passed wasn't, which is not my experience of Stornoway hotels, our stay was fine. Once bitten, though, twice shy!

On first night heating failed in bedroom but we were quickly given another room which was nice and cosy. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent meals. Premier Inn could get some tips from the breakfast served at The Caladh. Would certainly recommend this hotel.
