Overall experience was good, but it is not a 5stars resort, more like 3.5. We had a good time with the kids on the beach and pool. Older one enjoyed playing pool basketball and soccer on the lawn, kayaking and inflatable water park. Food definitely needs improvement, especially for the price point.
Room was clean, but dated ( we spent all our time on the beach and was in the room only to sleep) so I didn’t mind it.
Would we come back- yes!
You just need to know what to expect.

The highlight of this resort is The beach. This and views are stunning and staff are all super friendly. There’s also loads to for kids and adults alike to where I never needed to leave the resort. The hotel itself is a little outdated but it’s situated on such beautiful grounds that when you’re outside of the room the scenery makes up for it. On the downsides: if you are travelling with a family and don’t feel comfortable leaving your child with a babysitter there are a fair amount of places you can’t go as it’s adults only. Would be good if some of the food options would have the ability to bring kids along (even maybe just during the earlier sittings like lunch or early dinner) so that hotel guests with small kids aren’t stuck at the same options for dinner each night). Another bit of constructive feedback would be the cleanliness. Not just rooms wise but even the general toilets, restaurants etc aren’t very well maintained compared to some of the other resorts I’ve stayed at. I had a cockroach in my room, and also saw one in the breakfast buffet area. The property is surrounded by lots of trees and greenery though - not sure if this is why.
All in all - honestly it was a really relaxing stay at the staff who work there really are amazing.

This was our second trip to this resort. We enjoyed it so much the first time. The rooms we clean and well maintained, serviced daily. The staff were more than happy to help with anything we needed. We found that fiji time was sometimes a little extreme and service did depend on where you were and who you got. The meals throughout the resort were lovely and something for everyone. This resort has something for everyone, for those that want to sit and relax or those that want to get out and do activities.

Shangri-La Fiji was an absolute joy for the entire family. The staff was so friendly, the property was spectacular, particularly the snorkling at the reed. Plenty to do on site, with great recommendations for things to do off site. Fiji was so wonderful, and the Shangri-La was a big part of our delightful stay.

We stayed in an Ocean Deluxe Grand Room on the ground level and unfortunately the room condition was extremely disappointing. There was a very strong musty/mouldy smell throughout our stay that made the room feel damp and unhealthy. Honestly, I don’t believe rooms in this condition should be sold.

To be fair, the staff and management genuinely tried to help. We raised the issue the morning after arrival and, due to the resort being full, they explained they couldn’t move us until Wednesday (3 days later). They arranged a deep clean, which we appreciated. Another Ocean Deluxe Grand Room became available on Tuesday in the next block, however it had the same strong smell, suggesting this may affect multiple ground floor rooms.

What saved our experience here is that the staff were absolutely beautiful. They’re warm, caring and professional throughout. I truly felt sorry for them having to manage guest dissatisfaction around room conditions that seem beyond their control.

We paid around AUD $600 per night excluding breakfast, so the room quality felt very hard to justify at this price point.

There were definitely highlights though. Our kids loved the pools, water park, mini golf and buffet. We celebrated our anniversary at Takali Restaurant and the staff made it incredibly special. The CHI Spa was also fantastic and highly recommended.

The resort has a lovely family atmosphere and wonderful staff, but the accommodation quality did not match the luxury branding or pricing.

There isn’t much space to sit at the beach. There are tons of kids… probably book adults only. Take about 20 mins to order a drink, not really all inclusive, drinks only included after 12 pm then you get a budget of x Fiji dollars to spend per day on food. The rooms have much to be desired. The AC is capped at a certain temperature. The bathrooms have no fan so the rooms are very musty. Good resort for on a budget or if you have kids.

We stayed here for a week, and there was plenty to keep ourselves and our 7 year old entertained. We were initially hesitant to put our son in kids club, but he had an absolute blast. There are three sessions of kids club each day: morning, afternoon and evening. The evening one is great as it allows the adults to have a peaceful dinner together while the kids race frogs and party. The beach and reef were better than we expected from the mainland, and there were lots of gorgeous fish to spot snorkelling. Shout out to the staff who took amazing care of everyone and adapted well to a cyclone that rolled through. The indoor bingo and family quizzes were an excellent plan B for bad weather.

The staff were pleasant but needed additional training. They were unable to deal with situations that didn’t run smoothly and every day small things were a problem, especially around delivering drinks and food to the table. We would wait hours with children and still things didn’t turn up even though we would ask many times. This was the same with housekeeping and not having items delivered to the room such as towel towels etc.

We stayed at the reef buree and the roo was very good. It was nice to have a golf cart to cruise around the grounds. A 9 hole golf course was also a plus and the course was in good condition. The main downside is that there’s not much of a beach to speak of.

We had a great stay at the Shangri La resort. The staff were very friendly and eager to accommodate. The resort is showing it's age a bit but overall provided everything we needed. The snorkeling was amazing right off the beach. The lounge chairs at the beach and pool were in bad need of an upgrade. But the beach and snorkeling made up for it. The resort is great for families or if you prefer the adults only section was great as well. The food was good and I would recommend eating at the Black Marlin steak house, the rib steak we shared was fabulous there. If I went to Fiji again I would not go in March as we found the humidity a bit overwhelming. I would highly recommend a massage at the hotel spa and my husband enjoyed playing golf. I wish we had been able to see some sights off the resort but the humidity kept us at the beach and resort. We met some great people and overall had a fantastic time.

We arrived at the resort full of excitement, as this trip to Fiji was meant to be a very special Valentine’s Day surprise for my fiancé. Unfortunately, from the very beginning, our experience was disappointing.

We had to wait more than one hour past check-in time with very little communication. After the long wait, we were finally given access to our room — only to find that it was still not properly prepared, the staff came back to bring glasses and water . It immediately ruined the romantic atmosphere I had carefully planned.

Before arriving, I had specifically requested a decorated room for Valentine’s Day. Sadly, nothing had been arranged. No decoration, no acknowledgment of the occasion — nothing at all. For something that was meant to be a meaningful surprise, this was extremely upsetting.

Overall, our stay was not good at all. We did not feel comfortable, we did not feel special, and we truly did not enjoy the experience. It was heartbreaking because this was supposed to be a beautiful memory for us.

We will definitely come back to Fiji — it’s a stunning destination — but we will never choose this resort again.

We had stayed in the Reef Bure room for our honeymoon. The view from the room was beautiful arguably the best room in the resort (in our opinion). We also received our own golf cart or power buggy to travel to and from the restaurants and activities in the resort. The staff was very friendly to us and attentive with food and drinks. We had stayed 7 nights at the resort which we thought was the perfect amount of time to enjoy all the resort had to offer with out leaving.

Not up to standerds... food not quality. We had our daughter's b'day and cake provided by them. It was fully mold and we realised after eating and given to many kids around. Had food allergy reactions after this incident. Spoken to mgt but not all responded well. Specially GM of the hotel dont care much. Hotel has gone for quantity against the quality. Dont think go again to here. Not recommended.

This should not be called a Shangri-La resort. It is completely filthy, run-down and completely deceptive from the photos. I have never been so disappointed by a resort before, let alone a higher end one that my family and I assumed this was. The room and bathroom were in terrible condition, with visible black mold on the shower floor and corners, stains on the shower glass, mold and condensation on the floor grouting, stains on the pillow, a broken telephone, peeling furniture, and just overall old and unkept conditions. This was not just case inside the rooms, but also on the beach - extremely dirty with seaweed and debris all over - people were literally peeling over layers of kelp and debris just to try and access the water. It was really sad to experience as we had high hopes for this resort based on the photos and description of the amenities. To make matters worse, the elevators did not work so we had to take lengthy ramp structures to get around with a stroller. They kept the used food trays outside overnight, attracting additional insects including large cockroaches. The only upside was that food here was tasty, aside from that everything was disappointing to say the least. I expressed to management that the resort was very disappointing and that we would be checking out the very next day instead of extending our stay; they did not seem surprised at all. Will reconsider staying at a Shangri-La again if they can put their name behind a rundown resort like this.

Very nice resort. We spent our week in the Reef Bure - Amazing and private beach Villa with your own golf cart to explore the property. Great food, nice pools, and helpful staff. Duncan on the adults side hooked us up with a late checkout - thank you DUNCAN! Couple downsides - not fully all inclusive. Be prepared to pay for coffee drinks all day, soda before noon, and have a daily allowance for food. Not bad tho - spent 7 days eating and drinking whatever we wanted and had $300 usd in overages. Overall a great experience and would definitely recommend the resort and privacy of the Bure Villas!

We booked 2 rooms, room 497 was condensing when we checked in, informed receptionist and was fixed by their electrician around evening time. Room 498 power went off at around 4am, i thought it was the whole hotel, but when i went at around 6.30am to my daughter's room then found out their's was working. So called them again, man came to fix and left after 10mins it stopped working again, he came back and fixed it and it was all good. Staffs were good, friendly and very welcoming. We enjoyed our stay and thank you for the late check out. But overall it was an awesome 1day stay.

We’ve been coming to this facility for over 15 years, and this was our 9th trip. The location is excellent, and there’s always plenty to do to keep both kids and adults engaged. The sit-down restaurant continues to impress with great food quality and variety. The main buffet, however, could use some improvement as the quality didn’t quite match the rest of the experience.

I also want to extend a sincere thank you to Ashwini Anshumala Mohini for helping us arrange a late checkout, facilitating VIP service, and making sure we were able to park close to our room. That extra level of care made a real difference and was truly appreciated.

I also had the opportunity to meet the General Manager, Francis Lee. He was very approachable and kind, and it’s clear he’s done great work at the resort over the years.

The all-inclusive package is just credits on over-rated food prices. We had to pay 700$ at the checkout. The rooms are clean but old. Great AC!

Clearly, people from lundry can’t follow instructions. Gave them two brand new t-shirts and they came back like they’re used for months!!! That’s a big concern with laundry.

Upon arrival after check in, the security guard thought we were outsiders, we just asked where the restaurants were as per advice on check in and made to feel unwelcome like we sneaking into the resort. Waiting forever to be served drinks as no one always at the bar. All inclusive is not as inclusive as it states. I've been to Fiji many times but got food poisoning or gastro while there for only 3 days. My daughter vomited on the dining table and no one came to disinfectant it. Was just wiped down with papertowel. The lagoon Terrace for buffet had terrible and old food, it was the same each day. Which is where I think we got sick. Most bar staff not friendly and when asked for a drink looked inconvenienced by the request. Very expensive and not worth the $1000 a night to stay. Also the resort is so big you spend half the day walking backwards and forwards to change into appropriate dining wear. I will never go back. Worst experience ever

Unfortunately our expectations were not met when we stayed in the Reef Deluxe Adults only side of the resort. One of our rooms wasn't ready until well after 3pm. Our room fan was noisy and while it was looked at it wasn't fixed. On our first morning we had no COLD water in either room for showers. The promised turn down service only eventuated on our final night. The room cleanliness was great and the cleaning staff were both very friendly and helpful.
The Adults only pool was murky and the pool tiling was very slippery with wet feet if you stepped on the white tiles. Three of us managed to get cuts on our feet from this and saw at least three more guests slip and cut their feet also, including one who needed extensive first aid.

While the staff weren't unfriendly they did appear to be overworked, very thinly spread and lacked knowledge regarding basic questions which suggests a high staff turnover.

We were also surprised to be told that while paddle boarding and kayaks were free to rent for however long you wanted the snorkeling was limited to one free hour per day and then payment of $35 per hour was required - per guest! This seems exorbitant.

The restaurants were great though. The buffet breakfasts were extensive and we enjoyed the quality and the choice offered by 3 restaurants. We also enjoyed dinner at both the Italian and Asian restaurants and the pricing was very reasonable.

Also the golf and horse riding were great. The horses were very well kept.

The island is idyllic and a good location, easy to get to from Nadi airport. All the staff warm and friendly. For those familiar with the Shangri-La brand, this property is very different and more like a 3 star resort. The food & beverage, for those after a 'culinary delight', is very disappointing

Having stayed here maybe a dozen times over the last 20 years the staff were always what made the resort amazing but although most were great I had issues with billing that were handled poorly and we were lied to. Management promised to take care of it( remove the cost from the bill) but on check out this promise was not honoured until I pointed this out.

We stayed in a Reef Bure and, while the island is stunning, the experience didn’t match the resort’s five-star image.

The Reef Wing photos online show a sandy beach and clear lagoon, but in reality, this area is rocky from natural lava flow and scattered with coral. The lagoon is knee-deep, so swimming isn’t possible unless you go to the family area on the other side of the resort.

Our Reef Bure, said to be about six years old, felt quite worn — chipped tiles, scratched furniture, loose fittings and a general lack of maintenance. A small ceiling gap even allowed a bird to nest inside. Housekeeping was inconsistent, with towels and minibar items often missed and the patio never cleaned during our stay.

Check-in involved multiple pre-authorisations (including FJD $150 per night and an extra hold for the golf buggy) plus a 5% card fee, which felt excessive.

The adults-only pool was green and murky for our entire stay, while the family pools appeared clear. Although some guests still swam, we didn’t feel comfortable doing so.

Breakfast offered good variety but patchy service, with missing spoons and extra charges for cappuccinos. Dinner quality was inconsistent, and themed menus made it hard to dine spontaneously.

Overall, the natural setting and friendly staff are positives, but the resort feels dated and under-maintained. Couples seeking a tranquil, high-end adults-only stay may be disappointed, while families wanting a relaxed island base might still find it enjoyable.

I was so impressed with the Shangri-la. The grounds and gardens were immaculate. The rooms were spacious and the beds and pillows were super comfy. Air Conditioning was so good after being out on the heat. The hospitality of the staff was wonderful you really did feel at home and looked after. Everyone was super friendly. Loved how the golf cart could drive us up to the restaurants or stopped to pick us up when passing. The fire show was fantastic. We tried all the restaurants, they were all delicious too. The happy hour at the adults only was a real bonus and such a draw card. Pools were clean. We can't wait to come back! thank you Shangri-la and all your staff for making our holiday wonderful.

Resort is getting to the stage where it is beginning to look a little tired and could do with a refresh. It was annoying to see that not many activities were free despite the high cost of accommodation. We had to fork out for goggle hire, mini golf and many other facilities which is a bit over the top for a family resort. Dinner in the Asian restaurant was a disaster which was confirmed by other guests we spoke to.

Our view from the Ocean Room was spectacular. The breakfast and dinner buffet at The Lagoon Resturant was great. Clear, blue water at the beach and the pool was also nice and fun. Very kid friendly also.
