Made to feel very welcome from arrival through to departure. Everything was brilliant. Lovely spacious room , good nights sleep. Breakfast was really fresh and great quality with plenty of choices. Excellent evening meal were enjoyed with amazing view across to fort.

Advice and tour particularly the camel trip was brilliant and we really enjoyed the trip arranged for us by the hotel and riding camels in the desert and meeting fellow travellers.

Service taht goes above and beyond

Return trip after a night at a desert camp. Staff went above and beyond to get us the room that we wanted with the best fort view. We arrived before check in time and were treated to a complimentary lunch in the roof top restaurant. On departure, staff made sure we had plenty of water for our road trip and even packed us a lunch. Would definitely stay here again, largely for the location, but mainly for the excellent service.

Very convenient location. Best view is from the roof top restaurant, but breakfast isn’t served there. Owners kept our luggage free of charge for one night while we headed to the desert. Food was quite good, breakfast had great local fresh options.

We had a wonderful stay at First Gate. The location is great because it is right opposite the Jaisalmer fort. You can walk from the hotel to the fort. The market is also walking distance. Fantastic location!

As for the property, it's truly wonderful. The exterior has a yellow sandstone, rustic look but the interior is fully modernized. The room had a nice living area (with a couch, coffee table and TV), a spacious bathroom and a bedroom (with a double bed and appliances). The property also has a rooftop hotel that overlooks the fort ; we had dinner here one night and the experience was excellent. The amenities in the room were pretty good too (bathrobes, coffee maker, refrigerator etc).

The property also offers breakfast which has traditional Indian and also continental options. They also have all day snacks and coffee/tea/lemonade at the breakfast area. The staff was really nice and friendly. The helped us book reliable transportation to Udaipur (at an extra cost) and also packed us sandwiches and water for our onward trip.

I would highly recommend this property. It's clean, safe, quiet and has great amenities.

The hotel was very clean. The food available was fantastic and very varied including local Rajasthan dishes. Our room had an upstairs sitting area with a view of the fort. Whilst everything was perfect the best part were the staff from the guy who made my Indian breakfast to the manager who gave us sandwiches when we left. We were only able to eat one evening at the hotel but the food, service and view of the Fort was perfect. Nothing is too much trouble for the wonderful staff.

When greeted at 1st Gate Home Fusion, we were told that we may have arrived as guests but we will leave as someone a part of their family and they couldn’t have put it better. Everything about this place is so homely, from the vibe, the staff and the décor. When deciding to choose a place to stay at Jaisalmer we were torn between inside the fort or outside and owing several reasons we chose the latter and glad we were to do so. Located just outside the fort entrance, 1st Gate Home Fusion has the incredible advantage of location-you can choose to walk to the fort for a sunset and sunrise or head out to the several places in Jaisalmer. The rooms here receive a special mention-no two rooms are alike when it comes to décor, extremely tasteful and eye pleasing, with larger windows, unlike most places to stay at Jaisalmer. There is a gym, several seating areas, a pool and a very friendly dog, Simba! The breakfast is good and the unlimited tea and coffee and cookies, cake and water bottles are a splendid addition. The reviews that we read mentioned about the Italian restaurant being the best in Jaisalmer and it is entirely true. They serve Italian, Indian and some Rajasthani delights too. If there, do try out their special coffee! I must mention the courteousness of the owner who proposed to pack us food when we were leaving for the airport after a hearty lunch there although we had checked out a day earlier to stay at a desert camp. Highly recommended!

Wonderful hotel with a friendly, helpful staff. They helped arrange a day trip out into the desert and a half day tour of nearby temples. I really enjoyed several massages at the hotel spa after some hard days touring. And the breakfast buffet and rooftop restaurant lunches and dinners were delicious. You csn’t Go wrong at First Gate!!

The general manager told us to consider the hotel has our home in Jaisalmer even though we were there a day early and only wanted to store our luggage while we went on an overnight camel safari. They would hand us bottles of water every time we left the hotel reminding us that we were in a desert. When I ask for help to get something to take to dinner that we had been invited to, the manager sent someone to a bakery to pick up a box of cookies for us. When I needed to exchange money, they sent someone to the money exchange and brought us money. Physically the hotel has a spa, indoor pool, weight room, steam room , And a library of books to borrow. There is a rooftop restaurant with a panoramic view of the fort. But it is a service that makes this a world class hotel.

Wonderful place to stay and dine while in Jaisalmer. This is a beautifully appointed boutique hotel in the heart of Jaisalmer. Fantastic staff of the manager, Chandan, and Punkaj and all the staff. Do not miss Punkaj’s fantastic tour of the Fort and the city. It was a highlight.

The owners, Frederica and her Indian partner have done a magnificent job of blending architecture and art to make this
a very comfortable place to stay. There are great public spaces to read or just lounge after your camel outing or visit to Jaisalmer Fort. The hotel even has a small, well-appointed gym—including the smoothest elliptical machine ever.

The rooftop restaurant, with all its delicious meals and top-notch service, is not to be missed. The view is simply fantastic along with the music. It’s an all-veg menu, but even for this omnivore it was great. The pasta and pizza are particularly note-worthy along with the myriad delectable Indian dishes.

A gem of a place. It reminds one of Santa Fe but in the Indian desert area of Jaisalmer. This combination firmly installs First Gate at the top of any list for discriminating globe travelers.

Great location at base of fort close to its entrance, with lovely view of fort from rooftop restaurant. Rooms were very large and really homely. Bed was really comfy. Staff lovely and extra touches nice e.g. free teas and cake in afternoon and all food and drinks in room were free. Our only disappointment was the restaurant, we thought food was only average for the price and breakfast was not served on rooftop. Overall we’d definitely recommend this hotel to stay in.

The staff were like our real friends, they did not fake it. They also helped in booking our tour of Rajasthan, and our camel safari. Their food was very delicious, and it had a Rajasthani taste, it really brings out the culture. Overall, I would say this hotel is worthy of 5 out of 5 stars!

1st Gate Home Fusion is a rose in the desert. In fact, the style, architecture, décor reminds me a lot of the type of accommodation one would find in the American South west like Utah or Arizona. The desert like hotel blends right into its surroundings for the famous fort. Modern, sleek, crisp. I had a great room with a nice balcony with view of fort. The Jaisalmer fort is a 5 minute walk from hotel. Room very nice, modern, very clean except someone needs to dust underneath the furniture. Nice comfortable bed. Spotless bathrooms. Nice TV and small fridge enhanced my stay. Premium room, what I had, a little on the expensive side but worth every rupee. Staff super efficient and nice. I like to be made to feel welcome and that the staff went out of their way to do so. I rate this hotel a 4.8 so let’s just say it is a 5 star rating for hotel. Management in process of finishing up a nice health club and spa. The owner always had a warm smile. Food at breakfast could have been more varied with Indian type food. The dishes were sometimes empty so you had to ask for more food. This was taken care of right away. 1st Gate Home Fusion is 1st rate. Safe, secure, my room was quiet. I wish I could have stayed longer. Lastly, I had an 8 hour drive from Jaisalmer to Udaipur and needed a pillow to rest. During his break, the manager went out and bought me a great pillow for my journey and I gladly paid him for his efforts as well as for the pillow. Stay Nov 16 to 19.

Memorable trip to Golden City

The hotel is set right next to the Jaisalmer fort & the view in the night from terrace is just wonderful. The staff at the hotel is very courteous & are willing to go extra mile for customer service & satisfaction. It really follows the principle of - Customer is King. All the important places of the city is easily accessible from the hotel with market also within walking distance.
A great place to stay whenever you plan to visit the historical city of Jaisalmer.

It was very friendly & comfortable, with beautiful amentities (nice bathroom, lovely large balcony over-looking the fort, free snacks/beverages, very well decorated room). In the USA this would be an expensive boutique hotel. Located directly in town center, steps away from the fort entrance. (Side note, use caution in Jaisalmer ...men will watch/follow you, Oren tend to know you, trying to scam/cheat/steal, need to be aware of who is around you at every moment)

A nice boutique heritage hotel just outside the fort. The staff were great,next remedy helpful, particularly Peter who helped us immensely by personally changing money for us out of his pocket and arranging for someone to come to the hotel to change money for us during the Indian banknote crisis. Also the restaurant upstairs was terrific and included a very authentic Italian menu (makes a change after eating Indian food daily). Indeed my husband thought it was one of the best napolitano sauce on his pasta ever!

This is an absolutely fantastic hotel.

Everything you read about the 1st Gate Hotel is true. It is perfectly located right near the fort with stunning views from the rooftop restaurant. The hotel administration are so accommodating. Pick up and drop off at the train station, organising train tickets, safari tours (although I didn't do one) and whatever else you want. They even offered to make sandwiches for my train journey back to Delhi. There was a minor calamity with the power on the night of my arrival (not the hotel's fault) and there was just so much genuine fussing to make sure this didn't inconvenience me, which it didn't at all. The food at the Indian/Italian restaurant is amazing and is very well priced. The hotel administrators are a delight and they really look after you. The Indian house boys are very efficient, polite and courteous. Without doubt, this is the place to stay in Jaisalmer. It is faultless.

The best location in Jaiselmer, Rajasthan, India

We stayed at 1st Gate recently with our 4 friends (making 6 of us) as we travelled north west India on hired Royal Enfield bikes. Of all the places we stayed in India, 1st Gate was far and away the best. We were welcomed personally on arrival and made to feel welcome for our 3 night stay by the owner/manager Federica and the staff. Dinner on the rooftop each evening, breakfast on the ground floor, self serve cake anytime,meant we were catered for at all times, which was great as a couple of us were a bit flat after being sick for a couple of days previously. The rooms were clean and well equipped. Location is perfect for walking into the Golden Fort and around Jaiselmer. Plenty of offers close by outside for trips into the desert etc, and a few of the usual characters pulled up to check out our bikes.

This is the best hotel where we stayed in India.

Incredible view of fort in the city. Very helpful staff with complimentary snacks and bottled water. The room is spacious and clean. The hotel is outside the busting castle and it is quiet. There is shops nearby which are in good price.

The arrangement of taxi from Jaisemler to Jodphur to Udaipur is very nice and price is reasonable.

We spent much time in hotel because it is too comfortable.

Lastly, my wife got allergy in eye and the staff rushed out to buy medicine for her. It helped her a lot in the rest of the trip. I would like to use this chance to thank the hotel.

Un excellent hotel boutique avec un service incroyable. L’hôtel est très bien situé, un très bon restaurant sur le toit avec une vue superbe. Le petit déjeuner a un très bon choix. Ottima esperienza. Camera grande è molto confortevole. Pulizie due volte al giorno, acqua, bibite , frutta e snack gratuiti (noi viaggiamo molto e soggiorniamo in ottimi hotel ma una cosa del genere, in questa misura, non ci era mai capitata). La proprietaria italiana controlla il personale e questo migliora il confort per gli ospiti. Infine il ristorante sul terrazzo offre anche dei buoni piatti italiani. Non credo si possa chiedere di più ad un hotel con sede in una cittadina indiana.
