Charlie was great, very nice and attentive. Not many issue that I dealt with, only
AC could have worked better, we felt hot during the night (@67). The main door had trouble locking but I managed to get it locked.
Overall it was a nice place to just stay the weekend.

This is a wonderful property compared to the chain hotels found locally. I was very pleased with staff and the very comfortable bed. My only disappointment is that the AC was off on my arrival and off again during the day while we were away coming back again to a very hot room. I understand trying to be thrifty but in Texas heat even in the fall a nice cool room when you arrive back from working outside all day is preferable to one that must take a couple hours to cool down.

I wanted to book a nicer hotel, but my other half wanted something closer to the venue where we would be going. Very old motel. My other half is a bath person, but she was unable to take a bath because inly the shower worked. The shower head was not adjustable and was pointed directly towards the inside corner of the tub causing the water to then run down along the edge right onto the floor. The deadbolt did not line up right in the door so we relied on the door itself and the chain for security. We didn't worry too much about security as we were 2 of maybe 5 other guests staying here. It was cheap. It worked for our needs

Fun blast from the past

This hotel ahould be marketed as vintage, classic or nostalgic for us Gen Xers. It is clean, safe, maintained, has good water pressure and a value price. This is exactly like what we would have expected in the 70s or 80s on a family road trip and would have loved. Although older, this felt like a safe motel...not a place that was sketchy or with sketch clientle. That said, two beds in the room was cramped for space, but it was ok.

This was a fun classic place. If I owned the place, I'd probably put in some kitchy palm 🌴 or neon flamingos and play up that aspect.

Now....if you want the newest, latest, greates or modern hotel, you will be very disappointed. If you want a budget friendly functional stop for a night or two, it's worth a stop.

We went to Navasota for a dog show. Placed my reservation based on reviews. Poor choice. I could feel every spring in the mattress, refrigerator did not work but the freezer did, don't know why. The shower and tub were dirty. Floors were as if they havent been swept in a while (good thing i wear shoes all the time). The first thing i checked was the bed for bed bugs,(yes, it was that bad) there was fresh paint over duct tape in the room, especially the corners, and in the bathroom holding the fixtures up. The only thing this place has nothing of is bugs. The place needs to be condemned and start over cause it sure wasn't worth the $100 i paid for. I expect they will delete this review but it's the truth. I will sleep in my truck if their place is the inly one left.

Quiet, clean, affordable

Quick easy drive from College Station, the staff was friendly and accommodating. The room had cold, refreshing AC. The room was very clean and had all the basic necessities. It is apparent the owners are doing their best to make upgrades and make the rooms nice. I would definitely stay here again.

I had a hard time finding a room around College Station that wasn’t either ridiculously priced or had complaints about roaches / cleanliness / shady dealings on the lot. I was skeptical of this place given the price but it delivered like a motel charging double. Clean room, very friendly staff, quiet as can be and room didn’t need any updating / repairs. Got a good night's sleep here and can’t say that about most motels I've been to.

Vanguard Motel was fantastic. Sure, it's old-school, but it was super clean, crisp clean sheets, an AC that blows very cold, good internet, good television, everything worked. It even had a microwave and a minifridge to keep my drinks cold. I will definitely be back. Navasota is a small town, and this building is older, but all paint was new, room was incredibly clean, pool was sparkling, and the manager was very nice and personable.

If you stay here be warned it is noisy in the morning. I was on my way to giving this property 5 stars, however there were some issues in the morning. This included someone knocking on my door at 10:03am CST. When I asked the property they went immediately to stating that never happened. No investigation, no looking into it, just stating that no one knocked on your door and you should forget about it. It was blatantly obvious that housekeeping knocked as I could see activity through the peephole. For these reasons I left and will be reviewing my honest opinions.

Nice, Quiet, and Comfortable

The stay was great. Although one previous review mentioned lots of road noise, we did not hear any. Everything was in good working order with no complaints at all. After seeing that there were either none or very few rooms available when we booked, only about half the rooms were occupied during our two day stay.

This motel is near college station, so that’s convenient when prices are high or sold out near A&M. The motel is outdated. The WiFi did not work. The tv had a consistent green line across the bottom. There’s no shampoo or conditioner. Expect to run down to the dollar store for toiletries. There’s no iron or ironing board. It seemed overpriced, over $80 a night average. The best thing about it is that you can hop to college station in less than 30 minutes.

I stayed here in March and was pleasantly surprised. Charlie and his wife are so nice and accommodating. I told them that I’ll be staying here every time I come to Navasota which is once a month. I’ve already booked my room for April. They are in a great location from downtown. Rooms are clean, the A/C is cold, and linens are clean.

Mostly good needs maintenance attention

Not worthy of 5 stars, There are maintenance and upkeep that needs to take place. Some wall repairs were just taped over, some were painted over the tape some were just black tape. You could not turn the water on for just the bath tub the knob only allowed the shower to turn on ... but the shower had amazing water pressure. The light by the ice machine had a constant flicker (bad ballast?). Our room was tight, but adequate for us. The bed was comfortable, parking seemed ackward for our corner room, but no one else was in rooms near us so it worked! The cost was well below other places around. We would consider staying here again if ever back in the area.

The room was very clean and the staff were polite. The WiFi, room key, and TV all did not work. If you don’t know the area (like us), it is next to a very busy and very loud street with no sidewalks. We likely won’t stay here again.

Our room was very clean, smelled great but the facility is on the older end of the spectrum. The only real complaint is the air conditioner is located where direct cold air is not able to directly reach the bed. I am on medication that causes me to be hot and I was uncomfortable while trying to get to sleep.

Awesome hidden gem!

I've stayed here twice for business in Bryan, and I've had great experiences both times. Very clean room with comfortable beds. The owner, Charlie, is super friendly and accommodating. If you are looking for a nice, quiet spot to stay just outside of College Station, I highly recommend Vanguard.

wony go back unless i have to.

bathroom door had hole in it. water for showering was yellow. they got mad because i have a service dog for PTSD tried to refuse our stay which is againinst the law. beds are spring beds. chair at desk was ripped up. pool was clised at 7pm and website said 9-9 its open. poos was a foggy. parking lot was really ckean and well kept. Lady that runs the hotel is EXTREAMLY RUDE has has a major attitude issue.

The motel is in good shape and the room was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped. I noticed that trains were running nearby most of the night, and they all blew their horns as they passed through town, so earplugs are a must. I also couldn't figure out how to change the indoor temp, but it was cool enough that I didn't need it after all.
