This was one of our favourite stops on our tour around Sicily. After spending so much time in the cities, it was wonderful to relax in the peaceful countryside. The property itself was beautiful, full of character, and felt very authentic. There was ample parking.

The pool, set within a walled garden, was absolutely stunning, although the water was quite cold during our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout, and our room was very spacious. That said, the furniture and bed were a little uncomfortable. There was a spa and some excursions. But no written information anywhere. A summary of activities in our room would have been helpful.

We enjoyed walking around the grounds, although part of the path passed by a small airstrip, which wasn’t particularly scenic. Because of that, I don’t think I would choose to stay in the houses located beside it.

You have to try the almond milk absolutely delicious. We also had dinner in the dining room both evenings, and the meals were excellent.

Overall, this was a charming and beautifully decorated hotel, and we had a lovely stay.

We loved this rural historic hotel and its tranquility. The staff were very helpful friendly; thank you Guiseppe. Dinner in the onsite restaurant was excellent. We also booked a half day e-bike tour through the hotel, which was the highlight of our trip to Sicily.

We had a very unique and enjoyable experience at Hotel Eremo Della Giubliana. We were warmly greeted upon our arrival and our check in went very efficiently. We were provided a tour of the property and a brief history of the hotel. Our room was spacious and bed was quite comfortable. Amenities at the hotel are as shown on their website. We enjoyed an incredible dinner at the restaurant inside the hotel and all the food was homemade and cultivated on the property. Fantastic quality! Ample breakfast buffet as well. If you are looking for a unique experience outside the city of Ragusa this is your place. Mille Grazie to the kind staff at Hotel Eremo Della Giubliana! We look forward to coming back.

Staff was super helpful in getting all our luggage to our beautiful room on the top floor from the parking lot! So the limited elevator service was not a problem! The very old buildingsWe felt we like we were definitely the personal guests of the owner, who was there during our stay!

The best hotel in Sicily! It was outstanding in service—friendly and helpful. The rooms were so beautifully appointed, clean, spacious. The grounds were what made our stay peaceful and we learned a bit of history as we viewed the archeology and even visited the black pigs. Dinners there were excellent with many wine choices—all wonderful and local. Had we more time, we would have taken an olive oil or wine tasing or cooking class or even a massage. We would stay a week there next time. It’s close to Modica, Ragusa, the beach and Noto.

This hotel is set in the countryside and is beautifully coverted series of farmhouses. The pool is surrounded by sun loungers with a garden begind, perfect for lunch. I also had dinner in the courtyard adn breakfast in the hall, both great settings. The staff were very friendky, the food was excellent.

Our stay was amazing. The staff were exceptional, very attentive and so friendly.
We enjoyed several meals at the hotel as well as a local wine tasting. When we travelled into Ragusa for dinner they arranged a taxi for us.

Special details; lovely welcome drinks, adorable animals (the owners dog Max was a delightful surprise) and the staff were extremely patient with me practising my Italian.

Could not recommend more - the incredible value was a delightful perk but frankly we would have happily paid more for such a great time.

A beautiful property in a stunning picturesque setting. Full of character & charm, great breakfast & dinner available. Bathroom could do with updating and rooms feel very dark. Biggest drawback was our room which we booked for a family of 4 and were given a room right in the centre of the courtyard by the restaurant and the children’s bedroom was adjacent to the noisy kitchen. Needless to say it was very disturbing and loud and the hotel were not able to help or move us, which was a real shame and put a downer on our stay.

Hotel Eremo is a former monastery. You are greeted immediately by name by the friendly staff. The property is serene, dining is available outside in a courtyard, at the pool, in your room. There is an amazing breakfast buffet.
There is a spa or cooking classes by the chef which need to be reserved in advance.
It is necessary to have a car to visit the beach or surrounding towns. We also drove to the oldest winery in Sicily for a tour, tasting, and lunch.

Awful property. They categorize themself as five star, In reality they are two star at best. It’s in an old monastery, and it smells like an old monastery. My room was dusty and smelled extremely musty and moldy.

In my experience they used a bait and switch booking scheme. They had many descriptions and pictures of rooms with various categories. I booked a room above the basic room but was given the basic room, they simply renamed the room upon checking in.Even though it was the exact description and pictured as their website for basic room.

The grounds are in disrepair. The pool is not maintained. It’s a deep green algae and mosquito infested pond. The pool area appears to be used as a toilet for the owners large dog.

It’s run by Amateurs, in every level. It’s situated twenty minutes from any service or attraction. It was my choice to book there, however the lack of maintenance on the grounds made a comfortable stay at the property impossible. I found no outside seating, except at the abandoned pool area.

Absolutely not five star.

Beautiful old monastery

Angelo the general manager is very passionate about the place and will give you an interesting tour and tell you about the history of the place.

Great breakfast & dinner. The 7 grains bread which is served at dinner is the best bread I've ever had! The almond milk is also great for those that don't eat dairy (I would have preferred it without any sugar but that's just me because I don't like having lots of unhealthy sugar).

We had a small issue with the stone wall room (cobwebs & ants) but the customer service was excellent and we changed rooms straight away (normal wall room) and the cost for the upgrade was waived.

I recommend staying in one of the deluxe rooms instead of standard (small cells) or the premium ones with the stone walls (the stone has tiny holes through which sometimes worms & little bugs can get in, not good if you are squeamish). The deluxe rooms with normall wall felt much cleaner than the premium rooms with the stone wall.

Incredible stay at the beautiful Hotel Eremo !

My husband and I just spent two nights at Hotel Eremo della Giubiliana. There are not enough good words to write about this beautiful hotel, and its AMAZING staff! We originally booked only one night, as we were not sure of going to another area for our 2nd night. We were welcomed by the entire staff when we drove in, and then Margherita and Antonella gave us a tour of the property. Their warmth, and outstanding customer service is beyond words. Margherita then brought us to our gorgeous room, and we immediately booked another night. We only wished we could stay longer. We ate at their lovely restaurant both nights, and the service by Leticia and Simone were outstandingly. We were told of the local production of their food, and truly every bite was delicious. Breakfast in the morning was also incredibly delicious, and the service by Alfio absolutely outstanding! He had me try the property’s fresh ricotta cheese w honey, and it was So delicious. There was a beautiful fire in the lobby, and we enjoyed drinks before and after dinner. We also enjoyed walking the beautiful property, and historic airstrip from WWII. The owner, Salvatore showed us his land, and the beautiful area where their pigs live. Angelo, the manager was very sincere in his intent to make sure our stay was wonderful. The customer service by the entire staff is absolutely outstanding and genuine. It is truly one of the most special hotels we have stayed, and we cannot wait to return! Thank you for a lovely stay.

We were greeted in the drive where a valet welcomed us, took care of our bags and the car. Upon entering reception, we were given a glass of Prosecco and a tour of the gorgeous house and grounds. Dinner and breakfast were superb. We could have stayed longer.

Lovely old building, with a fantastic pool surrounded by a lawn with overhanging trees - great for relaxing during the day, and also for sitting out in the evening. Breakfast was great with lots of choice and local produce. We had dinner one night - served in the courtyard - not cheap but the food was very good. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We booked a standard room. As mentioned by previous reviewers, these are small but this was not a problem for a 2 night stay as we did not spend much time in the room. For a longer stay, it would probably be worth going for a larger room.

Unlike some previous reviewers, we had no problem finding the hotel using our phone map app. It is a 10-15 minute drive into Ragusa which was also quite straightforward.

The property was once an old monastery, beautifully restored to 5 star. The pool area is great. The service here is a very high standard, our concierge Lorenzo went well beyond our expectations, difficult to find anyone better. Jessica in reception was just superb. The restaurant is excellent also, a very high standard! We loved our 3 nights stay, could have stayed another day had time permitted.

We chose this hotel for the first few nights of our honeymoon. The location is beautiful and very peaceful. The room we stayed in was a classic, which was one a monk’s cell, and was basic but in keeping with the history of the building. We visited Ragusa Ibla, Modica and Scicli. Staff were very helpful and told us best places to park, things to see and where to eat on each occasion. We are in the restaurant which was expensive but a treat to eat the local black pig and locally grown onion.

From the moment we pulled into the driveway it was a special event...the staff is there to serve and does so quietly. and efficiently. I found it the same as I communicated with the staff in advance of the trip as we worked out logistics for our next step of the trip. A lovely unique property with great service, amenities and food. Beautiful grounds and courtyards, with both a fun puppy and sweet older dog. We enjoyed our cottage on the airstrip and the wonderful dining experience in the wine cellar. Breakfasts included many yummy choices and the referrals to good restaurants were wonderful!

Superb Stay for 4 with 3 rooms for 3 nights

Four of us booked 1 double and 2 single rooms for three nights. Service was superb. We have never been as well greeted at a hotel as at Eremo della Giubiliana. A 12th century restored monastery. Well done but, of course, needing continual maintenance as hot water was out for a couple hours one morning. There restaurant is very farm-to-table with the hotel making some of their food from their own land. The rooms were very quiet (being in the middle of farm land). You do need transportation to get to the town(s). The hotel has their own airport for tours of Sicily by plane and for flying in to stay. Wifi free. Much parking available. They even packed our luggage (10+ bags) into our car when we left. The hotel does jeep tours of their (+nearby) property but we did not time to partake.

This hotel has a sense of history, beautiful grounds in the countryside and in the distance, a view of the sea which is about 15 mins drive away. The staff are just great and could not do more to make sure guests enjoy their stay. The breakfast buffet comprises cold meats, cheeses,eggs, jams, savoury tarts and baking etc. produced on the premises -we stayed for 13 nights and never tired of it. This hotel is a great basis for exploring the area , with beautiful beaches and amazing baroque towns. We were sorry to leave and hope to go back some time.

Very best \"hotel\" in Sicily by far. An old converted Monastery that has been lovingly restored keeping the character but modernizing appropriately. Fabulous dinner in the refectory where monks used to eat. The old kitchen has been kept to see, but new kitchen used for innovative fresh meals. The grounds are beautiful with lovely swimming pool, gardens, veggie garden, etc. They offer cooking classes (would have loved to take), have a spa (we took massages-great), took tour of natural valley with water mills (lovely). Whatever you do in Sicily, come here at least two days. I would suggest more! I absolutely loved this piece of heaven. Tranquil, hospitality, history, etc ❤️❤️❤️

Beautiful converted monastery.

Converted very authentically. The beautiful dining-room, which doubled as a breakfast room, had natural limestone walls, highly polished floors and wooden ceiling beams. All original windows were restored, & the theme continued throughout all the main areas and indeed into the bedrooms. The grounds were lovely. There was a main terrace that could be reached through reception or the dining-room. In fact, it was possible to eat outside if you wished, & many people had breakfast outside. This led into further gardens, with plenty of trees and flowers. A pool at the end , with overhanging trees, and lots of further little nooks and crannies with the sounds of running water. Very tranquil. There was a further dining-room downstairs, which I didn't see, which was apparently suitable for smaller parties & family parties. In fact, there was a family celebrating a 40th wedding anniversary whilst we were there. It would be beautiful for a small/medium wedding. We ate 2 evening meals there, which were both excellent quality. Breakfast was included in our package. This was very good & you couldn't fault the choice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It was a good base for visiting a few very pretty little towns. Not an easy place to reach. You needed a car to travel around.

I have been all over the island. Third trip. This spot is gorgeous and a great base for day outings. It's been in the same family for centuries, and the current owner is sophisticated, fluent, welcoming, and makes his own ricotta every morning over a fire at his farm on the property. Not cheap but totally worth it.

Fantastic place for pure relaxation. Wonderful gardens and buildings with great enthusiastic staff. We stayed in one of the cottages (a few minutes drive from the hôtel),which was peaceful and well set up. If we are to find a gripe it would be that the restaurant is a bit pricey for the food served and the wine is expensive for what it is. Notwithstanding this it was our favourite hotel on our two week four stop tour of Sicily.

Fantastic unique hotel

We stayed in Hotel Eremo della Giubilianna for three nights and couldn't have anticipated a better stay. From the moment we stepped through the door, the experience was excellent and received a very nice welcome including a glass of prosecco on arrival. It is a converted monastery in a private estate setting and a real boutique hotel feel. Beautifully maintained location with great attention to detail. The staff and service levels were excellent coupled with fantastic restaurant in a unique location. The staff couldn't have done anymore for us, they even assisted us planning our onward trip around Sicily and provided guides for nearby things to do and see and eat. On the first night we had the five course tasting menu and it was excellent, tasty unique food in the beautiful romantic courtyard setting. I would highly recommend this. Breakfast buffet was a great spread of fruit, hot food, pastries, cakes, meats and cheeses and very accommodating to our requests for soft boiled eggs and other extras. We have travelled the world and I can really say the service levels and ambiance at this hotel are absolutely outstanding. Very convenient to reach the beach and nearby baroque towns such as Ragusa, Modica and Scicli. If planning a trip to this region, don't stay anywhere else! Even the pets (cats and Dog Lilly) were friendly and playful. We will definitely return. Just wished we could have picked up this hotel and taken it with us for the rest of our trip around Sicily.

Superb cottage by the airport runway!

We stayed in cottage 5 on the private aero drove which was a unique special experience. We dined at the Eremo estate 400m walk away. We could drive but preferred to walk. Breakfast was superb as was evening dinner. We had 1 dinner but dined in Marina di Ragusa the other 4 nights. No planes came whilst we were there so it was very quiet!

Great place to relax

The hotel provides a relaxed atmosphere and makes a great base for touring the south and east of Sicily. The cottage we were in was extremely private, comfortable and spacious. The hotel amenities were excellent. Dinner in the courtyard was wonderful. I think what distinguishes the hotel is the staff, all of whom were
incredibly attentive and very helpful In providing touting ideas, making off site reservations and providing directions when asked.

A good hotel with a great restaurant

This converted monastery aims high, and for the most part they succeed. The recent conversion of the monastery has been done in great style. The service is excellent and attentive, and most staff speak English. The grounds are beautiful and peaceful and very rural. The restaurant has a superb chef and wine list, and our dinner there was excellent. Breakfast, too, has a wide choice including hot items. We had a standard room, which was smaller than we would normally expect for a hotel of this class, and the plumbing in the bathroom frankly needed renewal. It is a short drive from Ragusa Ibla and is the perfect place to stay when visiting the town.

We had booked a cottage, which was down the path from the main building and dining room. It had a bit of a humidity problem, so the general manager without hesitation moved us to the best room in the main building. It was incredible! The food in the restaurant was divine. The breakfast buffet also. Top notch.

Absolutely Dreadful. Please Avoid.

In an otherwise wonderful two week Sicilian holiday, this was the unsightly blemish. The hotel markets itself as luxury, comfort, and exclusive. The reality is that while it appears to fill that bill, it is quite lacking on all the key points. Directions we were provided to the hotel were grossly inaccurate, compounded by the fact that several locals we encountered had no idea where the property was. Additionally, Hotel staff were unable/unwilling to explain exactly how to get to the property. During a period of two hours (yes two hours) no effort was expended on their part to assist us, despite their knowledge that we couldn't find the place. The service from Margarita was incomprehensibly awful.
Upon our belated arrival, we were rudely greeted by the same hotel staff who assured us that everything that had gone wrong was our fault, at one point arguing with us in front of other guests. The room was tiny, smelled of carpet air freshener, and was quite noisy due to flushing toilets and rushing water sounds. The climate control was not functioning properly which added to the dark comedy that this hotel is. Despite prepaying for this room for two nights, we opted to leave after the first. (Yes, it really is that bad!)

Please pick another property. We stayed in Ragusa at the Antica Badia Relais Hotel, which was simply wonderful. Please read my other reviews on Expedia or Booking to get a sense of my other reviews. This Hotel really should be avoided if possible.

Staff Dedicated to the Comfort of Guests

Our experience started with a frantic call close to midnight that we were lost over the central mountains in Sicily trying to reach Ragusa from the A19 highway. Rocco who answered the phone guided us and helped us keep calm. We finally arrived after he was gone and Lorenzo did his best to help us feel at home, got us the room we liked and made sure we could go to sleep feeling that our troubles were behind us. We stayed three nights. Salvatore, the General Manager, greeted us the next day and organized our travels meticulously, where to go, how to get there, where to have lunch, etc. Invaluable. The second day my wife who was having some back pain problems had a pretty bad relapse. Salvatore and Rocco went into action, brought in a doctor to the hotel, and after some treatment we were ready to resume our tours.
The hotel is beautiful, relaxing and well run.

Serenity, and exclusivity with tailored service

We booked as its in Ragusa, it looked great and the pictures were amazing, we were not disappointed, the staff from reception all the way through were amazing, the food incredible, the scenery great, the pool cool (it was october after all) wine selection excellent, rooms clean, and overall an amazing romantic place to getaway. Anything we wanted they organised for us, my wife took a quick cooking course with the chef, they organised flowers in the room, and even a birthday cake. Incredible experience, we will be back, soon!

Nice hotel, wonderful, accommodating staff

Beautiful bucolic setting. Lovely grounds and pool area. Wonderful staff ready to meet all and any of your needs. The desk manager went to Ragusa and bought me a BD cake when it was too late for the chef to make one. The chef was wonderful, the best food we experienced in Sicily. Giorgio is certainly one chef to keep your eye on! He has big plans for the future food at the hotel.
One caution, the standard room size can be very small.

Excellent charming small hotel

A really lovely, very small, and friendly hotel. Excellent restaurant as part of the hotel. Our room was nice but very small. (Big surprise--the hotel was a medieval monastery.) I would have preferred a larger room.

the suites are fabulous and food is very good. I loved it and would definitely go back. Ragusa ibla however was a bit empty...good if you want to escape from the many tourists of Taormina.

Celebrate in deep countryside

Very helpful front desk staff. Directions for finding hotel are essential. Wine list impressed us as did some of the food .hot plates ought to be offered as sometimes the food arrived stone cold! Great wild flowers and the gorge walking was amazing Ragusa was fun

Unusual but pleasant experience

For a hotel rated as number one in Sicily and quite expensive, the room was disappointly small and the location was hard to find. The grounds and breakfast were superb. The bathroom needed paint. Other properties in Sicily were a better value, particuarly if you do not own your airplane and are just arriving by car.

A lovely, elegant place

This is a truly beautiful, atmospheric hotel. You won't believe it, because it is in a strange location, off a nothing stretch of road. But well worth the suspense to get there. The staff is very kind, too. The restaurant is extremely over-priced, though the service is terrific.

Quiet relaxing and beautiful

This was a beautiful quiet and relaxed hotel. We stayed in the cottages along the runway, but never saw a plane. It was rustic, but clean and fairly new. We enjoyedit, but if you are looking for Four Seasons level service, then don't stay here. Breakfast was very nice daily and we had one dinner which was very good.

Hotel Eremo Giubiliana Ragusa

Hotel was lovely but not what I expected from 5 Star Luxury Hotel, missing the small touches which would make it truly 5 star. Location is a bit off the beaten track but a short drive to the nearest towns makes up for the rather bleak surrounding landscape. Would recommend to friends but could do with some touch-ups.

Hotel Eremo della Giubiliana in Sicily

The Staff was lovely - greeting us with a glass of blood orange juice when we arrived while the porter took our luggage to our rooms. This was our forth holel during our 14 day vacation in Sicily.
The rooms were very small - I am sorry I didn't stay with my first request - the cottages. We tried to upgrade but 20 guests were coming the next day so it wasn't possible. WIFI was not free as it had been at other hotels. The location was terrific - the landscaping was lovely - the staff was very helpful. The Breakfast were wonderful with fresh baked bread - a wonderful home made blood orange marmalade. Dinner was also very good but on the expensive side. We only ate dinner there one night - there were other - less pricey restaurants near by. The Hotel is far enough off the main road to provide a relaxed county feel. I would go back in a second! And I would recommend it - I would reserve the cottages next time. Oh they also make a great wine!
