Good location, building work spoiled experience.

Hotel location was good. Lots of building work going on though so not great to look at from the front. Pool area and main foyer were nice, the room was very basic, needs updating. Food at the pool bar was also basic, pizza seemed to be a cheap frozen one. Some noise at the pool from building works. Overall I'm sure it will be nice once the building work has been complete but at the minute it is lacking.

Great hotel generally, and this was our second stay. Service was generally good and the staff work hard. The only exception was when we ate at the hotel in the evening. Limited options for families/children and waiting staff stuck us in the opposite corner of the restaurant and made clear their displeasure at our attendance close to closing time.

Rooms quite old. Our AC was not working.
We booked this hotel mainly as it said in the description of amenities that it had a pool and sauna. To our surprise we found out that it was 20 Euros per person to use the sauna for 90 minutes and additional 10 Euros to use the indoor pool. Of course this was a dissapointmemt. If this is the case, I would strongly recommend Orbitz to clearly specify that in the description of the hotel prior to book. We probably might have selected another one.

Hotel is slightly outdated but clean and charming. The location is very nice, walkable distance to the downtown, free parking. Paying extra for using the pool was kind of a surprise but it’s worth it. Breakfast is exceptionally good. Overall we had a pleasant stay.

Lovely hotel, need to be happy to walk far.

The hotel staff were absolutely lovely, happy to help store our bags when we arrived too early to check in, booked us tickets to see the opera in the local castle. Breakfast has a wide range of continental and cooked foods which all tasted amazing. Food and drink from the pool bar is charged to the room which makes things easier. The pool is not supervised and is for age 14+ so it meant no young children screaming or splashing around near us which was a nice surprise. Our room was one of the older style ones which was comfortable but we would have preferred one which has been done up. Each room has a balcony, ours had a lovely Mountain View so used it every night. The only downside of the hotel was the location, about 15min walk into the town which isn’t so bad but is it quite a long uphill walk from the hotel to the station. Hotels.com said that the hotel offers a transfer service from the airport which we planned to use until we tried to book it and the hotel told us all it is is that they will book us a €80 taxi so not the free service we assumed. Ended up using public transport which was tons cheaper. We found ferry to be the best way to travel round the lake.

The hotel is 4 stars but not very well maintained. No hot water on day 1, fixed. On the 2nd day there was no power in the shower, it was fixed, but I did not receive shampoo. We had to request at the reception. On the 3rd day, my Nike T-shirt went missing in my room. The front desk was not very interested in this incident. I was here for the second time, but for the last time.

Nice Hotel - Shame about the noisy Stag parties!

Nice hotel with pool. We didn't use the pool as we were unlucky to have rain. The hotel was full on the night we stayed with several Stag & Hen parties, so was quite noisy even after midnight!
Breakfast was extremely busy with the staff finding it difficult to cope with demands for clean tables and replenishing food. Quite a walk into the harbour, but would probably stay again if I visited the area.

Nice hotel, poor room for price paid

Hotel was a little out of town (20min brisk walk to harbour) but justified by the free parking. Hotel was clean, decent & staff were friendly/helpful but was let down by our room - on the first floor, opposite the top of the stairs it was a convenient if noisy location. The room itself was clean but poorly proportioned - only just big enough to get around the double bed, a tub chair was an unwelcome addition as it just got in the way and when an ironing board we needed was delivered space was at a premium! Our window looked out onto the rear car park at the same level meaning curtains needed to be drawn for any sort of privacy. We were only using it as a base for two nights otherwise we’d have requested a room change - I’m fairly sure we had the worst room the hotel has to offer or at least I hope it was! Breakfast was fine for an Italian breakfast, based on the other hotels we stayed at and pool/spa seemed good even though we didn’t make much use of them.

Underwhelmed by hotel that is in a lovely town.

The first words out of the staff members mouth when we checked in was....”you booked a budget room so there isnt much choice of rooms” - i booked two double rooms...nothing budget about the price. parking was good. The Hotel was very walkable to Desendanzo and we enjoyed the town. The rooms were very outdated. Nothing like the pictures on Your site. Air conditioning/fans did not work in our room or our daughters room. Most guests had bath robes for the pools, neither rooms had them. Breakfast was ok. Staff not helpful and uninterested. Would not recommend to anyone. The Sunday morning was a major bike race right in front of the hotel. Staff never even mentioned to us that this was happening and we would have to leave a different way. Like I said....”uninterested” and very overpriced!

Honeymoon trip

This hotel is lovely. Our room was amazing and the biggest in the hotel I was told. We stayed in the Juniour suite as it was our honeymoon and we could watch the sunset from our bed or the balcony. A huge balcony that overlooks the pool on one side and the lake on the other. The addition of the jetted bath in the room is an absolute bonus and a nice way to relax at the end of the day.
The poolside bar offers a small menu but the food is good. The pool is quite cold but the heated indoor pool/sauna and jacuzzi more than makes up for it.
We hired bikes for the day from the hotel 6 euros for 6 hours is such a good deal. We cycled to the peninsula and had a walk up to the Jamaica Beach which was very picturesque.
The staff in the hotel were all lovely and very friendly. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough.

The hotel was clean and comfortable, though the decor could do with being updated. Having said that, the bathroom has recently been upgraded. The food (breakfast) was good and a good variety was provided. The pools are excellent, particularly the indoor spa with its mood lighting and music. Overall, a very enjoyable stay.

A good base for exploring the lake

The Hotel Oliveto is just outside the main town of Descenzano, so be prepared for around a 10-15 minute walk each way.

We arrived at around 2pm and our rooms weren't ready, as check in is 3pm. This was fine so we went and got a drink at the bar and waited. Once our rooms were ready, we went up to realise that one of the rooms smelled very strongly of stale cigarette smoke. After we raised this with reception, we were moved to another room which smelled fine.

The rooms are fine, basic and a little dated. We found sleep a problem on the first evening as it was windy and the metal shutters covering the patio doors rattled all night which was irritating. However, the wind died down and we didn't have such a problem for the remaining 2 nights.

The shower in our room was a little broken - there was a hole in the pipe, meaning a lot of the water was pouring out of it, and not the shower head. We reported it and reception said someone would be up to fix it - it didn't get fixed before we checked out, but as we were only there 3 nights, it wasn't a huge problem.

The pool area in the hotel is lovely. Drinks are reasonably priced and you can't beat the breakfast spread. If you are just wanting a solid base for exploring Lake Garda, this is a great option.

Nice hotel with lake view

The Oliveto is a nice hotel near the port of Desenzano del Garda. We had a large family room with lake view and balcony and had thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The hotel is only a very short walk to the lido and the restaurants and bars in the town centre. We also enjoyed the facilities in the hotel including the indoor and outdoor swimming pools. A highly recommended hotel for families.

Stunning lake view from our balcony. Rooms as spacious with shower with different settings and bday. Indoor spa area with mood lighting us a real feature of this hotel. It also has a hot tub, rainfall showers and sauna. Outdoor pool had spare sun lounges and the garden has a lovely view of the lake. Dinner can also be eaten in the garden. Hotel breakfast was varied and tasty. Ate in the restaurant for the set meal once which was lovely but the snack menu in the garden was equally presented in quality and taste.

Just got back from a weeks holiday at hotel Oliveto the staff were brilliant the location was excellent. The hotel is in the process of being upgraded, the room we had was quite small and old fashioned but clean and tidy so was fine as a base. Would definitely recommend and would love to go back.

Having spent time in Verona it was pleasant to relax at the hotel. An easy train ride and taxi brought to the hotel. The reception was welcoming and the room ideal. The outdoor pool was just what was needed.
The hotel was in comfortable walking distance from the centre of town with its bars, restaurants and boat terminal.

Lovely hotel with limited facilities in the rooms

The hotel is beautiful, spotlessly clean and well located with a stunning pool area. The breakfasts are plentiful with lots of choice. The evening meal is well cooked and presented. It is relatively expensive so it was a little odd that my fish came with courgettes but no potato/rice dish when the starter was quite large and the dessert was as you would expect.

My stay was only slightly marred by the inefficiency of the reception staff. At the second time of asking they produced a tv remote...but it didn't work. After closer inspection I'm not sure there were any English channels; I would at least have expected a news channel. My coffee maker never arrived. It is offered in the hotel details but two requests produced nothing. We asked for a taxi at 7.30am and one came shortly after we reminded them we had asked.

Slightly unusually I had a lake view with an opening window which opened onto the next door room's balcony. Luckily next door didn't seem to use the balcony as I'm sure they wouldn't have wanted my head popping out of the window.

Terrible hotel i have stayed in better two and three star hotels the staff dont make any attempted to speak english the rooms are really old and very small the air con is very noisiey and there is now fridge were you cant keep a bottle of water in to keep it cool are friends like other hotels. WiFi is very bad its a good 20 mins walk to the restaurants and a good half hour away to the train station.

Overall this is a nice hotel. One of our rooms was great -- lots of space, clean, bright. The other not so much though. Although we paid the same for both, the second one, room 206, was much smaller (bathroom door about 18\" from one side of the bed), tiny bathroom, and the door looked like it had been kicked in at one point -- the metal plate on the door frame that the deadbolt goes into was very loose, the wood around it all splintered and big pieces missing and a very basic plastering job done to hold it on. My kids didn't notice it until late at night when we came home after dinner so we didn't request a room change but we should have, especially since there are signs in all the rooms telling guests to lock their doors and windows (although the hotel and town in general did feel safe). The one nice thing about this room was its balcony with big French doors.
Otherwise this was a good hotel. Pool is really nice, with bar service, breakfast was good and plentiful in a nice, bright room. The hotel is about a 15-minute walk down a nice street to all the action near the waterfront plus tons of restaurants and the ferry docks if you want to tour the lake, which we did.

Beautiful pool and sun loungers, parasols etc. Hotel is about a mile from the centre of Desenzano but we liked the lakeside walk to burn off some of the gelato! The decor of the hotel is very dated (1980s?) and the rooms are not massive, but the balcony with its amazing views of the lake and mountain made a big difference. Breakfast was slightly grim but have had far worse in other places. Didn't try dinner in the hotel as there were so many fabulous places in Desenzano which is a wonderful place for a holiday with so much to offer. Hotel Oliveto is fine - you get what you pay for here.

A pleasant hotel

A pleasant hotel sited in a quiet part of town only 10 minutes walk from the centre. Very clean with rooms cleaned daily and towels/linen replaced. The lobby and restaurant are very impressive with excellent attentive staff. The pool area is spacious and the pool itself very clean.

Good value, pool a bonus

Good single room, unusual in Italy, and when I was not initially allocated one with balcony/terrace it was immediately rectified. Short walk from town centre but this was OK. Close to a beach. Breakfast adequate but no hot food, eggs on request. One morning I was down at 9.45, breakfast finished at 10.30, and I was told that croissants were finished, although one member of staff did find me a cake. Staff excellent except for one older man on reception who was permanently glum and turned out to be the owner. Hotel generally lacked atmosphere and frequently person on reception doubled as bar person, thereby not really encouraging guests to stay in hotel in the evening. I did not eat in the hotel but did hear good reports from others who had. So adequate hotel that has potential to be much more with a little investment, less penny pinching. However, it was value for money and I would certainly return.

Everything about the Hotel and all its staff we found wonderful. It was like staying with family. Swimming pool is a beautiful infinate pool. The only negative thing is the transport to town. Hotel is 1.5km from town center. Buses are non existent. Taxis have to be phoned for to and return to the hotel. The hotel is excellent at this but you need to find a friendly hotel to phone for one to return. It seems that taxis do not wait on the taxi points in town.

5 nights in Desenzano lake Garda

We spent 5 nights at this hotel. The hotel used to be part of a chain and although the in-room publicity still reflects this we understand that they are now independent.

The hotel is located about 10-15 minutes walk from the town centre which makes it quiet and relaxing. The outdoor pool is about 17m long although the facilities are basic just sun beds no poolside bar. The rooms are spacious with good storage facilities so no living out of a suitcase for a week.

The staff are in general very helpful although not fluent in English, and local knowledge varied depending who was on duty at reception.

The breakfast is good with the standard range of cereals, fruit juices, ham cheese, pastries and a toaster. We were told by a fellow guest (on half board) that the service in the restaurant at dinner was very slow but we didn't dine there ourselves, instead choosing to visit the numerous restaurants in the town. Unfortunately the bar is not well stocked having only bottled beer and seating which does not lend itself to sitting and chatting to fellow guests.

Transport to Desenzano is good with the station being 1.5 miles from the hotel 10 Euro in a taxi and frequent trains to Milan, Verona and Venice.

Booked this hotel in April arrived in sept to be told it was full as they had received a big booking in aug. Try to ship us off to another hotel a mile further out of the resort without us seeing it. Eventually sorted a new hotel ourselves. Manager couldnt get rid of us quick enough and still not had an explanation how the double booking was allowed to happen. Dont go near this place is my advice.

Not Impressed!

Please do not reward bad service by booking this hotel! My husband asked for a hot chocolate for me at the bar when we returned one evening about 9.30 - 10.00pm. The barman's (also the night receptionist) response was \" I do not understand you people who come here to this weather and order hot chocolate\". At first my husband took this to be a joke but he repeated it several times until my husband told him to forget it and walked away. My husband then went to reception to collect our passports where the barman continued to be obnoxious whilst trying to say that he had been joking earlier. We have never come across such attitude in any hotel let alone a Best Western but our next stay at the Best Western Hotel Bologna in Mestre, Venice was excellent in every way and restored our faith in this chain. On a positive note the breakfast staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Lovely hotel - lovely people

The hotel was everything we had hoped for. The staff were brilliant - nothing was any trouble. The outside pool was clean and relaxing. Good choice of items from the buffet breakfast.

Lovely

The room was lovely and the staff excellent. Overall a great place to stay. The pool was lovely, never busy or noisy, just right for a swim, without any sun worshippers. I would recommend a taxi if you're arriving at the train station with luggage. a very pleasant 15 minute walk into Desenzano centre, no problems.

Hotel Oliveto - excellent facility

Apart from the initial dissappointment of the baggage missing the connection and not turning up for thirty hours Desenzano was a good destination and the hotel excellent. The staff were very attentive and the hotel facilities first class.

Probably a week was long enough for my wife and I as we are not very active, however there is plenty of water and sporting activities for those so inclined.

Restaurant unwelcoming

When you arrive at a hotel where there is a restaurant, you do not expect to be met at the restaurant door, asked if you have booked a table (we hadn't as we arrived in the evening) and be told there was no room. As it happened, we waited and had a drink and were then invited to a table. A friendly manner would have warmed us to the hotel. We felt unwelcomed. Paintings on the walls around the hotel are dreary, unattractive and some very depressing.

Generell super. Die Anlage wird gerade renoviert, deshalb Teil-Baustelle incl Baukran etc. -hat uns aber nicht weiter gestört. Wir waren nur übers Wochenende, deshalb kein Lärm. Pool, Zimmer, Frühstück alles top

Wir waren für vier Tage im Hotel Oliveto und hatten ein Economy Zimmer gebucht. Das Personal war sehr freundlich und auch das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr vielfältig und lecker;)
Das Zimmer war an sich sehr freundlich und modern eingerichtet, allerdings an ein paar Stellen renovierungsbedürftig. Nachdem wir aber auch das billigste Zimmer gebucht hatten war fanden wir das Preis Leistungs Verhältnis trotzdem gut.
Der Wellness Bereich war zwar leider nicht im Preis inbegriffen, aber sehr modern und lohnt sich auf jeden Fall trotzdem zu besuchen. Toll ist natürlich die nahe Lage am gardasee und der Strand nur wenige Minuten von der Unterkunft entfernt. Insgesamt fanden wir das Hotel sehr schön und hatten einen tollen Urlaub dort.

Uma optima estadia, quarto para 4, conforyavel, com ar condicionado. Perto a pe da praia e restaurantes. Muita escolha de pequeno almoco, nao chegamos a jantar por la. Com estacionamento incluido. Com piscina exterior, a interior é paga a parte.

Vi var på Hotel Oliveto 1 nat af praktiske årsager da vi sent bookede et sted ved Sirmione. Det viste sig at være en positiv oplevelse med et dejligt værelse og en god morgenmad inden vi rejste videre.

Hotel 4 étoiles! Le seul avantage de cet chamvre est le prix 120Euro et rien d'autre. On en a pour son argent, tres petite chambre bruyante mal isolée ou pas isolée, sale moquette des couloirs tachetée.
Avabtages parking, piscine et tres belle variétée au petit déjeuner beau buffet.
Hotel en travaux donc a suivre...

Hyggelig hotel

Fint hotell i utkanten av byen, men kun 8-10 min gange til sentrum. Fint stort basseng med solsenger og parasoller og en liten snack bar.
Gratis parkering og frokost buffé inkludert.

Personalen var inte så välkomnande som man skulle önska. Slitna trånga rum. Vi åt deras kalvrätt, hemsk upplevelse tyckte vi 5 som valde den, friterad kyckling var okej. Kan inte rekommendera deras mat. Frukosten var helt okej.

Bom hotel em Desenzano

Bom atendimento principalmente do pessoal do restaurante. Quarto grande, recém reformado. A localização não é muito central mas bonita. O hotel oferece spa, piscinas. O maior problema são as obras do hotel, meio barulhentas.
