Over hyped and under whelmed

The hotel was under going repiars during our stay, including the being out of action. The sink in the bath room was badly cracked. The room was constantly uncomfortablely warm. There is no control of the room temperature. We had to leave the window open the entire time to reduce the temperature. Parking was chaotic at best. The overall lay out of the hotel is poor. To attend the gym is a workout in of itself. Once there the gym is ill equipped and frankly unsafe. The Spa is difficult to book into and couldn't offer the treatment that was requested.

The food while excellent took a while to come out and more over often the orders where significantly wrong. Staff lack training and professionalism.

The natural beauty cannot be underestimated. The beaches are absolutely stunning.

Overall for the price chaged it is not worth it. Disappointed.

Rooms and hotel were like a sauna. Everyone of our party was stifled.
Food was ok.
Took 1 hour to get served hot food at breakfast.

If I booked again I'd pay for the premium view as the view on to the car park wasn't ideal (but my fault for not thinking). The room was nice, and clean. Reception staff were okay to deal with, spa was almost fully booked so we only had access to the pool (none of the relaxation areas etc) - obviously COVID restrictions affected this which can't be helped. Once again I'd make sure to book ahead of time. The stand out for both service and experience was the dinner we had - incredible food and absolutely lovely staff. Really made an otherwise ok stay a great experience.

Beautiful spot. Nothing was too difficult for the staff all were lovely and so friendly an asset to any business from the ladies who checked us in to Rebecca the lovely lady who talked to us about the beautiful pictures throughout the hotel and the young lady who called to the door with delicious chocolate handmade which I might add should be sold at reception because I for one would have bought. Would highly recommend the fish and chips. A warm relaxng hotel and great lirtle spits to read in little corners in the hotel

Unfortunately our room had a maintenance problem. The manager explained that they were fully booked and they would give us a complimentary room without the seaview or terrace which we had booked. The room was at the back of the hotel . It had a frosted window overlooking the kitchen yard. The staff were lovely and the manager gave a complimentary bottle of wine and free upgrade on our next stay. To be honest the night away was an wedding anniversary present and well needed. Overall we were very disappointed.

Satisfactory

Hotel.. stunning! Staff... wonderful! The food... not so great. My boyfriend and I went to the bar for food the first night. For such a great hotel the food wasn’t the greatest. The chef had mixed cold chips with a couple of hot ones (must have mixed two batches, I wasn’t impressed). Room service was good but again, the limited food, not the best.
Breakfast was good, the hot breakfast was lovely and the temperature was spot on as I understand chefs and staff are under pressure for such a long period of time.
Room was cleaned to a high standard.
Pool is on the small side but relaxing for a quick dip.
Beach is beautiful!
On our last day I asked reception for a local Equestrian Centre. So we went to the recommended one, wonderful family owned business, amazing time. That made our last day great.

As this was a birthday present for my boyfriend, I heard so many great things about the hotel through friends and family. But I think the price of our stay and the 4 hour drive, we will consider it next time.

At dinner the soup was tasteless and not up to expectations. We ordered coffee which was cold and we had to ask for petit fours which should have been served at table.Instead they were handed out to us in a paper bag.Overall we considered the experience very poor value for the money you charged and would not recommend your hotel to our friends as it is grossly overpriced.Trucks delivering to the hotel woke us up shortly after 6 AM

Perfect location for a Family Break

We absolutely loved the Inchydoney Inn. The hotel and setting were amazing and made the perfect location for a short family break. The hotel facilities were excellent, although the spa area did get busy as there were restricted times for children/families. The surrounding beaches and sand dunes provided hours of fun for all the family. Rooms were luxurious and spacious with great views over the beach. The only slight quibble was with our evening meal which was not up to the very high standards set by the hotel in general.
Overall though, we will definitely be heading back to the Inchydoney Inn and cannot wait to do so.

Inchydoney hotel and spa in the ideal location to get away from it all. The staff are very helpful and you feel that they give you the space to enjoy the your stay there with every comfort but without being in your zone. good effort - strange layout - great location

Layout of public and circulation seems not well thought through , not making best use of the location & the experience of it therefore lacks clarity and the sense of grandeur possible for a great location. The beaches are astounding, indoor sea water pool and the spa staff were great. we were delighted with our massage treatments. Afternoon tea in the lounge was lovely and good value. We had a main with excellent wine but I can say my dish at 33 Euro was overpriced. Room service was very disappointing. The worst chips I have ever been served in a hotel. pale and undercooked for 6.5 euro.

Staff helpful at every turn but when arriving I was asked to pay despite having paid through hotels.com. Was nearly convinced to pay again and reception took 10 minutes to confirm it was Expedia's account they were to charge & not mine! Unfamiliar with Expedia bookings!? They did recover well by offering us our first drinks on the house.

Room was great but the hotel is overdue a refurbishment. repaint, tiles a re-grout, parts of the sauna were rotted etc. All perhaps unchanged since opening day. We had a sense of being back twenty years. the music was exclusively mid 90s. same four or five van Morrison albums, Mary Black, Hothouse Flowers, a little surreal. Brand Ireland 1995.

All the above are observations and nothing would stop me returning. We most probably will and strongly recommend the place quirks and all. Perhaps best as a base but do get a treatment in the spa!

was ok have stayed in other 4 star hotels (the lake hotel, killarney)and paid less for much better overall experience, private balconey was like sitting in a fish bowl, also got breakfast in bed the first morning when it arrived it was luke warm at best and the Clonakilty pudding were the worst by far,so we went to dinning room for breakfast the next morning and we did not expect to find a buffet we expected a freshly cooked breakfast

Fabulous stay. Relaxing few days which is what we wanted as I'm pregnant. Beautiful location. Only thing would of been nice would have some music in the bar during the week especially summer season. Music is only Friday and Saturday.
The food was lovely in the bistro but everything contained fish and everything made with eggs which is difficult when your pregnant.

Family Friendly

Pleasant surroundings. At times a little too much baby/toddler noise for a truly relaxing break. Would like to suggest designated family meal times for families with very small children. It is hard to create a romantic ambience to the backdrop of a crying baby - especially when paying for a fine dining experience.

Stunning

Start with very friendly service and a drink in the spacious and welcoming lobby. Get upgraded to a one-bedroom suite on the top floor, with a four-poster bed, loads of space, nice bathroom, high-quality amenities, huge TV, balcony, and even a most luxurious carpet. Then cross the bedroom and enter the lounge: Beautifully presented, comfortable sofas, coffee maker, another TV, and stunning views over the beach through floor-to-ceiling windows across two walls. Tear yourself away from the view and enjoy a workout in a gym that is quite well equipped by hotel standards, then a great massage at the magnificent spa. Later tuck into some delicious tapas and local beer in the gastro-pub until you can't resist the urge to get back to that incredible suite. Savour a delicious and very generous meal from the room-service menu. Fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing against the shore just outside, and wake to a stunning sunrise over the sea, that you enjoy while tucking into a superb full-Irish breakfast. The service was exceptional throughout my stay. The view from the suite, the friendliness of the staff, the quality of the food, the excellent spa facilities, and the glorious view make staying here unforgettable.

Beautiful location

The hotel was lovely, beautiful location, very relaxing vibe. A bit more signage out of Clonakilty would help, we had a bit of trouble finding the road out to the Island. Our room was comfortable, we had a balcony but we were at the side of the hotel so the view was restricted. There was an on and off knocking sound throughout the night in either the ceiling of our room or coming from the room above us (which I think was unoccupied) which made it difficult to relax and to sleep, I woke at 3am and couldn't get back to sleep because of the noise. I should have asked to change rooms earlier in the evening before we went for dinner when I first heard it but I presumed it would stop at bedtime. My partner is a very sound sleeper and he even woke and commented on the sound effects!

Fantastic hotel beside beach

Fantastic time at this hotel,it's the little touches like a drink when you come in,chocolates when you arrive and at nighttime in your room.Complimentary book of wonderful photos of west cork.A pot of jam when leaving.Great room with a view and the pool with real sea water is a great idea.
All in all couldn't fault except for maybe the bar they have which lacks a bit of coziness and comfort.

Break away

The stay was excellent. The only downside was there is no entertainment at night during the week so needed go to clonakilty, which meant one of us needed to drive or arrange a taxi.

World class hotel in Paradise

Attended a wedding reception here over the weekend. Our two nights stay was just not enough!
As someone who travels the world with work, staying in a different hotel every week, I found Inchydoney to be right up there with the very best. A comfortable relaxing place, with excellent service and food. Wifi was available through out the hotel. Pretty, bright, clean interesting lobby area, with plenty of comfy seats.
Beautiful room with stunning views, comfortable bed with fresh quality bed linen.
We enjoyed the sauna and the swimming pool with the warm seawater. No smelly chemicals here. We were very impressed to read about Inchydoney's enviromental green heating and hot water system and how they care for our planet. This should be advertised more!
Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Lovely hotel.

Lovely hotel on a summers day near the beach. Bit old fashioned as far as the t.v. is concerned . We couldn't watch it because the reception was so bad and it didn't seem to have utv Ireland.

More a family resort than exclusive spa getaway

We stayed at inchydony for three days as part of our honeymoon in mid August. The staff at the hotel were great, very attentive. The facilities were also great, my wife really enjoyed the spa. Inchydonny beach is beautiful as is the town of Clonakilty.
The only negative for us was the resort was full of families with young kids, which could make breakfast and dinner in the cheaper pub bistro less relaxing than it could have been. The acoustics in the pub were bad which meant when a few of them started misbehaving it was quite intrusive.
Communal areas like residents lounge and swimming pool also suffered somewhat.
We still had a great time, but given the price we paid, if I had done more thorough research I would have stayed somewhere else.

Nice hotel close to the beach

A couple of points...Our room was very dusty but when we pointed it out was corrected the following morning.
As a vegetarian staying for 6 nights I struggled with menu options in the bar and restaurant ..
Everything else was excellent ....

Beautiful location, most helpful staff I've ever encountered, Gulf Stream restaurant is just that bit too expensive, €36 for a steak! but bar food and breakfast are excellent. Third visit, will definitely return.

Great hotel in a beautiful setting.

This hotel was excellent from our arrival to departure. We received an Irish Mist on arrival which was complimentary, a nice touch, our bedroom over looked the beech and was very comfortable. The food was fabulous in the bar as was breakfast each morning.
All staff met you with a smile, everyone was pleasant and very helpful.

A 2 night break to celebrate our Silver Wedding.

Our overall experience was good but disappointing. The location of the hotel is the key selling point - it is truly breath-taking. Open views and direct access to miles of sandy beaches - the location is truly fabulous.
We were unlucky with the weather and so the hotel was full of families who were staying in the adjoining apartments. From the website and details we read we had no idea that there were so many apartments.
The bar area served food (which was excellent) but we found it quite small and with several high chairs and tables pushed together with families it was noisy and felt cramped. Not the dream we had of the of the magical hotel break we had been waiting for.
The pool again was full with children and families in general - we didn't even attempt to use it during our stay.
We felt the main restaurant lacked the ambiance of fine dining. The décor is modern, light and airy with lots of natural wood etc - more in keeping for its use for the breakfast service.
We were extremely disappointed that there wasn't any entertainment at all - I know we stayed on a Monday and Tuesday but it was July - high season - and there was nothing happening in the hotel at all. There was a beautiful grand piano in the residents bar but again no one to play.
Having reflected on our stay I would grade the hotel 3-4 star with the target market being families.
