People were hanging out all day & night sitting on the stairs smoking thc etc I asked them to be moved the staff was rude and didn’t let me move or transfer to a different hotel I checked out early due to a unsafe environment and I wasn’t refunded for the days I didn’t stay

Stayed at Americas Best Value Inn Austin University recently and overall had a pretty good experience. The highlight for me was definitely the rooms. They felt modernized, surprisingly spacious, and more updated than I expected for the price range. The room was clean, comfortable, and had plenty of space to relax without feeling cramped.

The staff was friendly, check-in was smooth, and the location made it easy to get around Austin.

A couple small things could definitely improve the overall value of the stay. The “breakfast included” is more of a light grab-and-go snack setup than a full breakfast, mainly consisting of muffins, a granola bar, and a small juice. The vending machine could also benefit from a bigger variety of snacks and drinks for guests staying longer or arriving late.

Another thing I noticed was that the pool never seemed to be open during my stay, which was a little disappointing since amenities like that are part of what guests consider when booking. Considering the limited breakfast and unavailable pool, I do think the pricing could be adjusted slightly to better reflect the amenities currently being offered.

That said, the updated and spacious rooms were genuinely nice, and overall it was still a comfortable stay for a short trip.

The reason I got decided for this hotel was because they offer breakfast, but it was a disappointment, because they offer a paper sack with small sunny delight juice, packet of two small blueberries cupcake and a granola bar, and also the shower valve was not working correctly and half of the water was coming out in the bottom, also even though we ask for non smoking every night when we return to room, it always had a smoking smell, like if someone went inside the room an smoke.

Didn't see on app where I needed to put a $100 deposit down, now I have to wait 3-7 biz dAys for it to be returned to my card, all though I could have paid high atm prices to give them cash.
The grab and go breakfast, must be gone by 7;30am... only coffee available @8am

First room #101, issued to me had been painted & the minute I opened the door the odor hit me hard. I went to advice Paul at counter & he went to verify how strong the odor was. He said it also hit him before even entering the room #101. He gave me another room upstairs #212. Bathtub had hairs. Breakfast was grab a bag & go. You had to leave a $100 USD deposit. When I was checking out there was a lady who was forgetting to returm my $100 which I had paid cash bcuz if u paid w/ card it would take 3-4 days to be returned. When I first arrived late at night the night before, I walked into the lobby, Paul was on the phone with a woman who her $100 deposit was not returned & Paul kept telling her that he couldn't do anything at that time until next morning when his boss would be there. He told the lady that she could come the next day in the morning to speak to his boss. I don't know if she had paid cash or ccard. I will never stay at another hotel with this name.

I didn’t stay in my room. I walked in and there was already issues. No power to the tv, microwave, and fridge. I went to the reception desk and he already knew what was the issue. Loose connections. He went in to fix it and yes it worked. He left I went to get my bags to bring them in. I opened the fridge to put something in there and a gnat comes from out of it. I went to the restroom. Gnats in the there flying around. Weren’t many but enough to say no I’m not doing this. I complained about it and when I put the request about a refund it was denied because the receptionist but I complained about bed bugs. Not once did I say bed bugs. Even told him there was bugs flying around. Even the office chair was completely rusted. I even asked for another room but they were full. I mean you get what you pay for right?

I did not feel safe at this hotel. There were people with guns at the parking lot and wasn’t sure if they were cops so I told the staff and the lady said everything was fine when literally there was something going on there.

Definitely not a 1st option, staff courteous but rooms are as basic as they can be. Although it not noticeable from outside you can tell it’s in need of an update. Multiple damages to the rooms fixable repairs overlooked. One of the rooms we were assigned smelled like cigarettes n that green herbal. Couldn’t be moved till the next day.

The birds at night are, no exaggeration, LOUD, the highway noise, LOUD. Oh, the connecting door to the next room, unsafe. The voices from the next room, and they spoke at a normal volume, could be heard plainly. Never again no matter how desperate I am.

Our stay at this hotel was horrible!!! Bed was noisy, highway right there so you hear every motor vehicle passing by, homeless and drug addicts asking my husband and I for anything soon as they see us come out of our room. Dead mouse outside in the stones, room definitely needs a remodel doors falling apart, main door didn’t close all the way had a gap. I have pictures to back up my complaints but it won’t allow me to upload them?! Don’t waist $$!!!

Staff, I checked in the receptionist assigned room 213 a non-smoking kingsize bed room. Upon entering room 213, the accommodation was reeking of heavy cigarette smoke. I returned to the receptionist desk, explained the situation, and was reassigned to a new room, 226. I asked the receptionist to change the room number on my signed receipt from 213 to 226. She was highly upset and did not yield to my request. She did not change the receipt. I felt uncomfortable, a sense of anxiety that I was being set up in order for her, upon my leaving the next day, she would hold on to my $100.00 deposit for damages.

Check in was easy, the room was decent enough for the price. There was a lot of overnight “traffic” coming and going that kept me up most nights. 2 of the 4 nights I stayed, I was woken up at 1-2 am by shouting and slamming doors.

The motel is in a safe location, very basic, but it was clean, friendly and great value for the price. Breakfast is a small paper bag containing 2 muffins, orange juice and a snack - perfect for neat breakfast on the go. AC was good, no pests around, and nice modern furnishings. Very pleasant night!

Check into the room and the beds had no comforters. Unfortunately, they did not specify. The only had one wheelchair accessible room. So it was a little inconvenient for my guest that was in a wheelchair. It had to stay in a regular room. So he could not get into the restroom with his chair.

Me and my sister booked a room for two days for my wedding and when we arrived we were only in the room for 30 minutes before we did an early check out and booked somewhere else else . We found food left in the microwave from whomever previously stayed and when my sister went to lay in bed we discovered three blood spots on her sheets which let us know that the room was not properly cleaned . I informed the front staff and i didn’t catch his name but he was very polite and apologetic about the situation and that I could speak with the manager in the morning for a refund but I know that I would have not received one since i booked online and am doing a very early check out . overall the experience was very bad and I will not be returning

The property is very well kept and the rooms are very clean. I’m not too big on hotel stays, but this location is great. The surrounding area isn’t the best looking, but it is close to the city. I have stayed a few times and have never had any issue with crime or damage to my property. The property itself is very well surveilled, as well.

The building seems pretty old, the room was very clean. Only small criticisms, the TV volume was hard to adjust and the mini fridge was a bit wobbly. And the heater/ air conditioner ran just a little loud. Great price for the room, that always helps. Wish they had cereal & pancakes for breakfast.

It was a last minute pick, as usual. The front staff was welcoming, and informative.

The room that was chosen for me due to the hotel being immediately booked was able to block out on the light from the outside. The continuing sounds of a single wildlife was both welcomed and appreciated, possibly only by me.

However, I do still sit and wonder if the individual whom paced the pavement just beyond my door ever did obtain the articles of loose clothing which may or may not have been presented during what could only be described as consistent verbal communication of such a need that only us, strangers, could satisfy.

All in all, I would recommend bringing bathing soaps.

The bed is on a metal frame thus causing the typical sounds which makes the additional rolling desk chair reasonable and its location upon entering in an understandable position.

Though they do charge by the day, I would be tempted to ask by the hour as well.

I’ve stayed in budget hotels before, but this place takes the cake for the most unprofessional experience I’ve ever had.

After checking out, we stopped by the front office to get a cup of coffee — the machine was empty, and we politely tried another one nearby, which didn’t work either. Hours later, while we were already on the road, I get a call accusing us of causing a water spill just because we pressed a button on an unlabeled machine. Seriously?

And then came the cherry on top: the staff told us to drive back to the hotel to clean it up ourselves. What kind of hotel does that? You’d think we broke a window or trashed the room. No — we just pressed a button on their own machine. If your equipment is so sensitive that it spills everywhere when someone breathes near it, that’s on you, not the guests.

Threatening to charge us for this? Laughable. Maybe spend less time harassing guests and more time putting a damn \"Out of order\" sign on your machines.

Zero stars if I could. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being treated like a criminal for touching a coffee maker.

Tub was cheaply fixed, shower curtains do not look changed as it has stains, the water is off. When showering it leaves you skin oily or as if the soap did not properly rinse off. Water needs to be tested. I use water bottles to brush and rinse.

Well first, the front desk receptionist was rude. just handed me my key card with no words. Once i got to my room, the connections on 1 side of the bed didn’t work, neither did the light. The phone didn’t work either. I told him about the problem and he explained it was motion censored? i explained that the connections weren’t working and he looked at me like i was incompetent. He said he would be there later to check it out. i asked him when and he said when i’m done finishing this and just looked away but i continued to wait there and he kept telling me he would be up there in a minute. He finally followed me to my room and i showed him the problem with the outlets and he tried blaming my charger and then i even showed him the light didn’t turn on. He then GRABBED my charger along with my phone without asking and tried it out on the wall then plugged it back into the outlet connected to the bed and it worked for a split second because of the energy it still had from the other outlet and he told me it worked. it stopped charging and i told him it didn’t and he gave me an annoyed look and walked out while saying to meet him in the lobby for a new room. met him down there, got my new room and it seemed fine until the shower. there was a huge cockroach above the shower head. i was already tired so i just killed it and cleaned up. There were various bugs in my room but i was too exhausted to care atp. never again, and for a $100 deposit is insane. i’d expect better quality. 0/10
