There was only lukewarm water in the shower and there was a terrible noise that woke me up in the middle of the night that went on for at least 30 min. The hotel is located next to a railroad but the sound was not that of a train. I am thinking it was some kind of machine used for distilling alcohol.

This is a really cool, unique place to stay! We enjoyed our overnight. Had a wonderful supper in the bar/restaurant off the lobby, a quick walk to the beach & stopped in at a local bar then back to the rooftop for a sauna before bedtime.

(The hotel did provide ear plugs.) Also the mattress was soft on the edges. Other than that, it was a great stay. Rainy lake bordering Canada was only a block away.

This is a very well done hotel. Great architecture. The rooms are very thoughtfully decorated. It has a higher end feel, especially for way up by the border. There are very busy train tracks behind the hotel, so try not to get a room back there. Thankfully the conductors don’t blow the horn at the intersection.

Breakfast is not included which makes the cost a bit high for the area. I regret not having time to soak in the large tub!

This was a wonderful boutique hotel experience for me and my husband. We enjoyed dinner and cocktails in the hotel dining room and loved ending our evenings in the room top hot tub. We used the yoga studio space as well. Our room was very comfortable and unique. We did have a light breakfast one morning. The ear plugs and sound machine made the train noise bearable but is a consideration for guests. We were able ti visit all the local attractions during the day and the \"street life\" with live music and festival atmosphere by night. Highly recommend for an adult only stay. We will be back!

There are not many options when you are staying in International Falls and I really wanted to love this hotel but I felt like it was more restaurant than hotel. Trying to get a good nights sleep was extremely difficult because of the trains. I live near trains in my hometown but these trains went slow and used their brakes and it was special. If you are in the area give it a try and use the ear plugs. I stayed here to visit Voyageurs National Park and I did love the location.

The Cantilever looks nice and modern, but unfortunately it has more style than usability. The shower is a freestanding tub with zero shelf space, since the curtain goes around it 360 degrees, and anybody with short legs or the slightest mobility issue would not be able to get in it out of it. There's no full-length mirror, and there's no place to plug a phone or anything on the table next to the bed. The walls between rooms are paper thin; I wish I knew much less about the terrible people in the room next door, but some things can't be unheard. Also the hotel is cut off every time a train goes by, so leave extra time in your schedule.

One of the best hotels I’ve stayed at- the room was beyond expectations. Very cool new decor, rustic/industrial. Loved the bed, bathroom- the ambiance throughout entire hotel so nice, and bar area with fireplaces. Service could have been a bit more friendly at bar. Served a specialty drink in a regular mug, not impressed. Burger was awesome. Front desk staff super nice. Wish I hadn’t been tired, the rooftop hot tub and sauna looked awesome.

A beautiful hotel and distillery! Such a tremendous story and the staff is so wonderful. My only 2 concerns: no insulation, so you can hear every word from your upstairs neighbors. I mean EVERY WORD. Also, the elevator is in the restaurant, so when you come from the hot tub, you drop through the space. It's embarrassing.

Beautiful boutique hotel with its own bar, restaurant, and distillery. Looked to be fairly new and decorated in an industrial motif. Staff was friendly and helpful. Noise.was the only problem, (situated right next to busy train tracks and a noisy hallway early in the morning - not much you can do about that. I would definitely stay there again.

This was a beautiful surprise. Beautiful room facing Rainey Lake. Christa checked us in and went out of her way to take care of us. We had a room with a view of Rainey Lake. There is an outdoor seating area overlooking Rainey Lake with chairs and a large hot tub and a kitchen area with a microwave but no morning coffee service either there or in room. One had to go to lobby and purchase coffee and pre-made breakfasts to microwave. The hotel could benefit from in-room coffee service for sure! The hotel is associated with a distillery. We had a tasting flight of their products and found them to taste of fusel alcohols and elected not to purchase bottles as gifts which was a disappointment for us. There is a train that runs directly behind the hotel that is very active. Ear plugs are provided in the room however we did not need them as our room was on the opposite side of the train tracks. We spoke with people who had rooms closer to the tracks and some said the noise kept them awake. Dining options in the area are sparse but Christa recommended their dining room and the Thunderbird Lodge. Their dining room served distillery type simple menu and we enjoyed their walleye tacos with cactus sauce. The Thunderbird had a comprehensive menu and we’d recommend both dining places.

The room was very nice, bed comfortable, beautifully furnished, with a large bathroom. We had dinner in the restaurant and the staff were attentive and the food was delicious. The hotel is right next to a railroad track and it can be very loud at night. They do provide earplugs, most likely for this reason.

The hotel and the staff were terrific. The building is clean and tastefully decorated and the staff couldn’t have been nicer. However, one evening the entire restaurant and bar were booked for an event and guests at the hotel were not notified in advance. While there are options in nearby International Falls, it seems notification would have been appropriate. Lastly, the hotel sits next to a rail line that is the busiest port of entry in the US. There are more than 20 trains every day now that pass the hotel both day and night; some of them are two miles long. A 2015 report noted the crossing was blocked on average 8 of 24 hours. I timed one that took 14 minutes to clear the road out of town. While ear plugs and white noise allowed for uninterrupted sleep (the trains cannot blow their horns), be aware that you may have unanticipated delays. With all of that in mind, I still like this hotel and distillery and will stay again the next time I visit.
