Better options out there

This hotel shows its age, shows it's wear. Cleaning is every third day, and is the bare minimal. For an 8 night stay, on day 6 the glasses in our room wasn't even replaced.

On site restaurant offers buffet breakfast. Exact same offering every day for 8 days. 1 'speciality' drink, so after the first cappuccino, you pay for each. The baked beans are either reused, or not popular at all, as they look stale each day - but apperently not enough to change the offering?

The 7th floor is then locked to the elevator for the rest of the day - note, no cocktail bar as the listing proclaims.

Traumatised for life from this Hotel

Hotel was pretty good . Location is not ideal. However one of the most traumatising experience of my life ... i went to spa and was sitting in steam room where a white EU bald bearded slim guy came. Though it is clearly mentioned to wear shorts in the Spa area all the time this guy decided to wear only a tiny towel. When he came inside I was alone and 2 girls were in Jacuzzi outside. This person did not waste any time and took his towel off infront of me looked at me and started playing with himself. I felt so uncomfortable that in this date and time there are still people who are that desperate. I shakingly decided to leave the spa and went to my room to my partner and told what had just happened with me. I decided to inform reception about it though they said to me they were not able to locate the person and no further investigation was done. I was told a famous LGBTQ + had recently purchased this property and sometimes they get guests who behave like that. This is totally unacceptable.

This is not a hotel. It’s just an accommodation provider that does not care about you and your stay.

For long stays they are offering one room service after that or for short stays you have to pay! This is quite ridiculous for the price of the stay when compared to actual hotels close by for the same price! You have to collect your towels at reception if you want new ones!

The noice from the staff when cleaning in the morning is annoying. You will be awake from 8am with them talking loudly and moving stuff around.

The spa offering is poor being open from 3pm to 9pm. If you are visiting you won’t be there at those times. Surly opening at 10am is not unreasonable!

The only positive is the location is easy to access and safe!

Cannot recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. Also remember this is no longer an Axel Hotel! It is LGBT friendly as opposed to being an LGBT hotel.

I like that it was modern. I liked having both the sheer and blackout curtains. The staff were all very nice. It's within a 2-3 block walk to the train station in either direction. The temperature control was great. Being able to open the window/door to the outside every morning was nice.
There are not a lot of dining or tourist options close by. You will be learning the trains!
I was there for about 3 weeks. A washer and dryer on location would've been nice.
A microwave in the room would also have been nice.

This hotel has a ways to go to be at the level of the Axel Barcelona. The rooms needs to be updated. Start with the simple things, get a TV service that has more than 2 channels and the rest is shopping network. We couldn't even get news on this tv. The sauna/fitness areas were good. Keep in mind who is your inteded audience and what makes them feel conformable, thats why we choose Axel hotels vs other hotels. The location, it is close to the subway and nothing else. The U9 and U7 lines gets you to most attractions.

Cool but not cool enough

Cool hotel. There was a smell of a bathhouse throughout the hallways. The main elevator went out of service the second day I was there. And the cleaning staff came into my room early while I was sleeping. Ask for them to come back later and they never did. So I had to ask for clean towels and soap when I returned for my day out. It was Folsom Weekend, so the place was busy with Leather guys in and out. I’m a guy man from San Francisco and I grow up with the Folsom Street festival, so I wish I would have checked the dates out to plan. It was cool but not cool enough.

Not what we expected.

The hotel is marketed as a gay hotel that is hetero friendly but it seemed the opposite, we didn’t see any other gay couples while we stayed. We really wish we had selected the other location which is located in the gay district. We toured that property and preferred it.

I had one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever. Stayed from Friday - Monday. Here is what happened:
Check-in. was told I could use the spa whilst waiting for the room, soa is downstairs. I went downstairs found the spa but realised I needed a card to access it so back up again to ask for a card which should have been given. Down again but couldn't find the changing rooms. Up asking fir direction. Down again and still couldn't find it so back up pleading to the staff to come and show ne but they refused. Down again and found the changing room but realised i needed money for the lockers. Up again to get money (again something that they should have mentioned). Down again to realise towels should be oicked uo at reception. Back up again to ask fir towels. 5 times up and down all of which a professional staff could have helped me easily avoid.
Room on 6th floor. Only one working elevator for the entire hotel that fits 2 people maximum
Air conditioning broken in the room so it was 24 degrees in the room constantly even though it was not summer. Very little sleep at night
Noisy, I could hear the restaurants closing up, moving bags of glass bottles and so on
Telephone in the room was broken I could not call reception or room service - not fun when only one working elevator for the entire hotel that only fits 2 people
When complained about the above issues with the room i was told to take the stairs and sleep naked. I complained to expedia since hotel did nothing but expedia did n

The service at the hotel is very below par. There was a strict check in at 3pm. I arrived at 1pm but wasn't allowed to check in. Not a problem, but I have been to many hotels and they allow you to check in if the room is ready.

You are able to leave your suitcase at reception which was handy. Even two days after check out.

SERVICE, I contacted the hotel before I arrived as the credit card co I booked with was shutting down. They weren't particularly helpful & said there were too busy to check if everything was ok. I followed up with an email to address the issue, they ignored it.

I then received an email from them saying to check in ahead to save time, this link didn't work, I also contacted them again via email. Once again ignored it.

I recently stayed at another hotel & soon as I arrived there was a warm welcome. I was asked if I had been to the place before and was given a tour book with lots of different things to see as well as hotel discounts if booked with them. A very different service approach.

The iron, there are no irons in the room, I called to ask for one, they said its with someone else, not a problem. I asked if they could let me know when its available. They initially said no, I should call them. The desk isn't always manned, I said well I would appreciate if you can let me know. They did call, told me to collect as he is the only one at the desk. €30 hold for one.

Location is awful. Really nothing around. Hotel name is confusing since there is another Axel hotel in the area where there are things to do. The Two Hotel is in the middle is suburbs. Have to take train everywhere or Uber.
TV did not work in the room - so as you enter the lobby there is a big pink settee/ couch, freaking dirty with stains on it. Ugh

Very clean hotel with a delightful staff. Discovered AC was out after we were already settled for the night. They offered to move us, but we were to tired, so they gave us a fan and an upgraded room the next day.

The sauna and steam room were great. We had no complaints.

Very Reasonable - but avoid the taxi trip

My girlfriend and I have just returned from this hotel. It was very reasonably priced.

Good location, a little bit of a walk into the Zoo area but the hotel was very close to the U-bahn so easy to get to Zoological Garten and travel from there.

The Hotel was nice, the room was comfortable and the bed was comfortable too. Nice and quiet too.

The only downsides where that the room itself was small and there was some 'hot air' heating system that we didn't need. So we had to always sleep with the windows open.

We only tried the breakfast once and it was very nice and reasonably priced. It was also nice to eat on their roof top terrace. It's a shame that we didn't have time to eat breakfast more often.

** TAXI PROBLEM - once booked we received an email from 'Welcome Pickups' and I booked and paid for them to collect us from the airport.
Unfortunately our driver 'Sunday Chukwuemeke Ilide' didn't arrive to meet us. He was supposed to be parked outside the terminal with our name on a board but he wasn't there. We spoke with him by WhatsApp and he insisted that we was there but he still didn't come to meet us. He wanted us to find him despite us having followed the instructions. He wasn't parked with the other taxis outside the terminal. He doesn't drive a regular cab, rather a black toyota so he should have been easy to see.

In the end we took a bus (X71) and a U7 tube and it was very easy and cheap to get to the Hotel. We decided to use the same route back to the airport

Staff were friendly and helpful. Room wasn't huge, but was clean and had everything that you need. Shower was fab, but I would definitely recommend for my fellow ladies to bring their own hairdryer as the one built in was useless. Nice location with a cool bar that plays live music just up the street. Have to admit, it's not the quietest hotel you'll ever stay in. If you're in Berlin for business or actually want to get some sleep, I wouldn't recommend staying here.

Disappointing Noisy letdown

Booked executive suite but told none available at check-in. Given another suite opposite the lift. So noisy we asked to move and given a disabled room. Check in guy unfriendly and pretentious. Felt he was doing me a favour in spite of us paying for better room. Hotel is noisy due to poor flooring and street location. Bed was comfortable as were the pillows. Shower was powerful. Thought this was a gay hotel but more straight couples staying. Made to feel uncomfortable in lift by straight guy glaring at us. I thought Axel was a gay brand and would have never booked if we knew it wasn't. I would not return or recommend.

Great service from staff, room was lovely and comfortable. Used the jacuzzi but the sauna was not on which was disappointing. The hotel restaurant was great the night we went and there’s a couple of nice places in the neighbourhood to eat as well as short walk to a shopping area with supermarket, deli etc. Location wise it’s is further from gay bars/clubs but then Berlin is very spread out so expect to use public transport or taxis to get around if you gonna party.

I am unable to rate my stay at The TWO Hotel Berlin by Axel as unfortunately, hotels.com allowed me to book a room at this property - only to have the reservation migrated to The Axel Hotel Berlin (a much older property). The TWO Hotel Berlin by Axel was closed due to Covid19 - but taking reservations?

The Axel Hotel Berlin, where I ended up, is in desperate need of remodelling and the unhelpful staff made the stay even more flawed. If, like me, you've been to other Axel properties in Europe - this is your warning: The staff has not been trained to provide an acceptable level of service -- or courtesy for that matter. I could go into comprehensive details, ranging from the level of cleaning to failure provide a simple wake-up call.

In short, expect none of the \"coolness\" associated with an Axel property stay in, for example, Barcelona / Madrid / Gran Canaria. In Berlin - they are definitely not on the same page. I appreciate that Covid19 has put unprecedented pressure on the hospitality industry - but I've stayed at an unrelated property in Berlin, one week prior and it was terrific.

In short: The Axel Hotel Berlin needs an overhaul and my overall experience was extremely disappointing.

The location of the hotel is really not good. Far from it all. If you come from hotel luggage, the problem is. Neither hotel staff will come to help you pick up or drop off your luggage. The most beautiful spa I have ever seen and I travel in a crowd of hotels. I would not go back there nor recommend my friends. Breakfast is a joke at all. They said they can upgrade us to a bigger room free of charge due to their error. The room was so small and tiny; I don't even wanna imagine what their regular rooms look like. Love this place. The room is modern and has a built in speaker in the bathroom morroe and heated bathroom tiles for the colder days. The terrace overlooked the street and the bed was very soft. The breakfast could have had more options but all of the food was fresh and tasted good. My husband and I will definately stay here again if we come back to Berlin. The guy working the front desk was super friendly and very helpful. Guess I should also add that we are heterosexual.

A modern hotel and spotlessly clean throughout. Checking in seems to take longer than necessary with lots of clicking on the keyboard by the receptionist for every guest. Our room was a \"suite\" which had a small lounge and a reasonably sized separate bedroom and the usual compact shower room. There was too much clumsy and rather cheap looking furniture in the lounge area and two plug sockets didn't work. Two large tall pots with vile plastic imitation green hedge balls also adorned the room...why?
Smart TV in room with many channels but the TV wasn't setup to WiFi so rendering Netflix etc as unusable.
The biggest negative for this hotel is the constant banging of doors ricocheting down the corridors due to them having hard flooring. Most noise was caused by the exit door to the lift/stairs not having a soft close. Reported it but by the time we left nothing had been done.

A nice enough hotel but completely devoid of any character and individualism. If this hotel was positioned by the sea in Spain it would be fine but for a city centre property it is lacking.

I liked the comfortable beds and the cleanliness of the room. I did not like the rude and inhospitable service of almost all the staff with the exception of the person that checked us in the first day. I was in the hotel business for over 30 years and have never seen such a rude and unhelpful staff. Other things that I did not like were the elevator not working for my entire six day stay. The remaining elevator was over the weight limit if more than two people got in. Also the air conditioning in the room never cooled the room. Part of the time there were no clean bath towels in the hotel. Hot tub was cool water, never hot. Steam room never worked. Very rude service at breakfast.

Worst Hotel in 3 Months

I've been traveling for 3 months and this is the worst hotel I've stayed in. I paid extra for a King sized bed in a Superior room. At first, I was given a Junior Suite with two twin beds (hello, it's a gay hotel, who wants two twin beds pushed together?). Then I was moved to a tiny room with a larger (Queen?) sized bed, but where you could hear every bit of noise in the hotel (the rooms are advertised as \"soundproof\"). Finally, we were moved to another cramped room that seemed quieter. However, as I found out over subsequent nights, it is next to an alley that has trash service going on from all hours between 4AM and 9AM. Further, the music that plays in other areas of the hotel is somehow audible while lying in bed.

The staff honestly didn't seem like they gave a single care in the world, and that extended to when they double-charged me for a minibar item and then told me it would a week to resolve (I fully expect they just hope I forget).

BTW, the \"technology\" in the rooms is a god damn joke. Probably the least \"futuristic\" hotel I've stayed in as well, unless you want a mirror with an FM radio built in, or light switches that BEEP loudly when you press them for some awful reason.

Really, just so incredibly disappointing.

Well located for local transport; service was poor.. was assigned an incorrect room initially; didn’t get coffee in the room replenished, and if you wanted more shampoo and toiletries you had to collect them yourself from the front desk! Hotel modern and clean but no kettle in room. Asked for one but was told that i would have to upgrade my room for extra €10 per day. I suggested they could take a kettle from empty room but refused. Because if this i would not book again.

All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was great, comfy bed with sockets either side (really handy for charging your phone) an amazing walk in shower and air conditioning. Our room was on the 6th floor so had a small outside terrace area with views over the area. There was a good selection of food and drink for breakfast.

Mixed experience

We arrived having been promised a suite due to an issue that had arose prior to arrival. We were told despite assurances, all the suites were sold and we were given a jnr suite instead. In fairness we would have had to pay a total of £80 to upgrade to the suite as originally agreed and they gave us the jnr for free. The jnr suite was well appointed but tiny, literally the size of most standard double rooms.

The hotel is in a rough part of town but is very close to a well connected metro station.

The hotel sauna is nice with a jacuzzi and gym. However, we felt quite unfortable there and ended up using it when it was empty in the mornings as it was very cruisy and there were a lot of people having sex in open relationships or single in the jacuzzi and steam rooms which wasn’t for us.

Housekeeping at one point left our door open and unlocked all day and used to clean the room so late that it hadn’t been done after a day out, and sometimes wasn’t done at all.

The hotel is well appointed and some staff are friendly while others are a bit rude.

Good points:

Breakfast (which after much complaining we were given for free some of our days) was excellent, really delicious with excellent service.

The hotel also did something incredibly sweet and set out a beautiful flower laden breakfast table on the day of our anniversary we are very grateful for.

All in all, it was a much bumpier stay than we had expected. But it was resolved.

Great stay but room for improvement

The hotel is located very close to U-Bahn transport which is great. The rooms are super comfortable too. The only problem we experienced was that they kept running out of towels / robes for the spa. Also there is no bar or area to relax in the evening. The rooftop bar was closed except for breakfast which was disappointing. Staff are wonderful though but if you are dividing between Two or the original Axel hotel, I would definitely recommend the original Axel hotel.

Beautiful hotel with clean and high tech rooms. My only complaint is that the rooms are not as sound proof as advertised. The guests in the room above me were very noisy, I could hear them walking back and forth and moving furniture around. I notified the front desk twice about the noise but I continued through the rest of my stay. Other than that, this hotel is a great place to stay with two underground entrances within a short walk in either direction.

Christmas Market short break.

Nice hotel but we were informed that the bar was closed when we arrived so a little disappointed that we couldn't get a nightcap before we went to bed.
Also, just be aware that the hotel is slightly outside the town centre, we had a 15 minute walk to where all the shops and Christmas Markets were.

Hotel staff are great. I was given a great recommendation on an Italian Restaurant for dinner which was not far. The train stations are within two to five minutes walking distance from the hotel. I would definitely stay again :-)

Ok location 15 min walk from tbe zoo area where there is plenty of 24hr food places if you arrive late like me and are looking for food. Just need to mention a £50euro deposit is required on check in so budget for this.

Poor Wifi

The hotel was very clean and very modern, but unfortunately the WiFi was non-existent and they don’t use repeaters throughout the hotel. If you don’t have Internet -then you cannot setup any functions in the room or TV. This was a problem for me as I needed WiFi.
