I had a great time staying here! Hotel staff was super kind and friendly, especially at the front desk and restaurant. I was in one of the rooms not in the main building and saw some low reviews for those rooms on here, but I thought the room was lovely. I had a bit of a hard time entering the property, but maybe that was user error. Anyways, I knew I would be safe! Thank you!

This is a gem in a historic though tired area … a really fantastic find.

It is authentic ..it appears grand though very lived in.

Staying in the delux rooms meant we were in the main house ..stunning and original furniture.

I stayed in the annexe last year (standard) which was more basic but one still had use of the grander house for meals

Our room (suite) was delightful with 2nd room. This grand old, slightly bedraggled, historic villa is what it is… a cherished experience to stay in. The 25-foot ceilings with art in the medallion center, the massive furniture, the comfy bed, the modern bathroom — this capped off 10 days in Italy with a better sense of 18th century history.
And we enjoyed the pool too!

Unique place. 400y old villa converted into a small hotel. Looks like only 12 rooms but has pool, grounds, parking, and nice restaurant. Had the smallest room and would not be good for a week stay, but worth the look for the uniqueness and get away from the boring. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choices. 15m walk to train station, ocean, and restaurants. Desk speaks English and very helpful. Would go back.

Fabulous staff, and a massive baronial room with the biggest shower I’ve ever seen.

Breakfast was brilliant, lots of options and good coffee

The pool and bar were a welcome surprise.

It’s an old building and so don’t expect it to be anything but that.

The area is not central to Naples but there are nice restaurants and cafes and is great for visiting Herculaneum.

Didn’t use the parking but there was ample secure space and 20 min walk to the train station.

It was such a unique experience staying in an 18th-century villa — the property is truly beautiful, full of history and charm. Of course, with any old building, there are quirks. Our room had a plumbing issue at first, but as soon as we mentioned it to the front desk, they had someone come right away and fix it. The shower still had a bit of a smell at first, but it cleared after running the water — to be expected in a building this old.

What really made our stay special was the staff. Everyone was warm and helpful, and we especially appreciated the young pool bartender — he was curious and engaging, and added a personal touch to our experience.

Other than the typical “old building” issues you just have to accept, the room was amazing and the entire property felt like a hidden gem. It’s also in a great location: very close to Herculaneum and about a 20-minute (uphill) walk to the train station. We’re so glad we found this place and would definitely stay again!

The room was great. The beds are a little firm but much more preferable than too soft for us. There are 2 heavy gates to access the property plus the locked door to the lobby then finally our room so safety was never a concern. Our host communicated quickly after I had posed several questions and was even timely in her response when I had a question after checkout. The AC worked great which seems to be a luxury in Italy (fair to poor AC in Rome and Pisa). My daughter loved the large balcony to have offer and people watch. We would definitely stay again.

I expected much better. Ignore the photographs show on Expedia. The room had no Aircon , looked like a 1970 youth hostel, had a bed like concrete and was next to the carpark. The second night had an 18th birthday party with extremely loud music with speakers around the grounds of the hotel. Heavy drum and Bass kept me awake till past 1230am. When I complained to staff I was told that \"18 birthdays are a big occasion here in Italy with no apology\".

Third evening had another unexpected event with loud music and crowds of people attending. Again loud music and motorbike engines going on till 1am. We wake up on the morning to rubbish and plastic glasses all over the gardens , around the swimming pool.

We were thrown out of the swimming pool early as we were told it was to be used for the event.. even though we obviously paid for it use!

Surely the hotel should take care of it's guests and at least inform them of the events before booking ?I booked for 7 nights and I left after 3. It was affecting my mental health..I came here for a holiday! Never again. A shambles.

A wonderful property with a classic, and aristocratic feel. After a long journey, we were able to relax and rest on the quiet patio. We read a book and took in the wonderful sunshine. We were able to enjoy the food at the restaurant. They offered a variety of choices for dinner which featuring local cuisine and wines. A good variety was also available for breakfast to start our day. After dinner we were able to take a short stroll around the property and enjoy the gardens, orchards and little pavilions featuring interesting dioramas. The staff was very friendly and very responsive to our request when we had a small issue. The room was always clean , quiet and felt very relaxing,when we returned from a day of touring the local sites surrounding Naples. I would definitely recommend and will definitely return to this villa when in the area. Thank you for helping us make wonderful memories of Napoli. Mille grazie

It's about 15 min walk to the train station and harbour where there are a few nice little restaurants too. It's just unfortunate the area around it isn't as nice but that's nothing to do with the hotel itself.

The room was luxurious with a large bathtub, very comfortable bed, and tall ceilings with the original painted artwork still visible. We felt very welcome and cared for by the staff at the Villa and the onsite award-winning restaurant. The pool was perfect for relaxing to enjoy the late summer afternoon with a cocktail and a refreshing dip in the water. Every area was clean from our room to the manicured grounds. We ate at the restaurant multiple times. The daily breakfast was above expectations. We returned several nights to eat dinner because the service and the food were excellent.

Great hotel spoilt by inferior bedroom

The hotel is in a great location that is walkable from the metro (10 minutes) and the Herculean (20 minutes). The area around is quite run down but there are good restaurants to find. The harbour area near the station has had some investment and is ok.
The hotel itself is quite old but reasonable we’ll furnished. The grounds are nice and pool, including bar, is great to relax by.
The thing that really let my stay down was my room. It appears they have created more rooms in the main buildings loft space. The result of this is no windows and only a very small loft window. As this to the very basic furniture and very standard bathroom fittings and it was very disappointing. It felt and looked more like a hostel than a hotel room. Shame as the staff were great.

Beautiful but funky villa. The main hotel and event spaces are beautiful. The room was large enough with high ceiling and elaborate 19 century decor. The shower was tiny and both shower and sink drain so slowly that scum builds up. AC Unit didn’t work. Luckily it was cool in evening with large windows to balcony overlooking sea.
Restaurant has lovely outdoor area but food pretty mediocre. Risotto and pasta very undercooked ( not just al dente) and seafood portions tiny.

There was nothing particularly wrong with this place. However it is not 4 Star hotel. Place is very tired from the grounds around the place to the room we were given. Breakfast was OK, eggs and bacon were lukewarm when we got there every day and I didn’t feel comfortable asking for a second coffee because it wasn’t self service.
I guess price point should have been an indication.
On positive note place is very close to Herculenium, 12 min walk to the train station for Napoli or Salerno in the other direction.
Staff were all nice enough but nothing special.

The ambience of this place is phenomenal. The restaurant staff were extremely friendly. The registration desk staff were helpful most of the time. There was a mosquito and bug problem! My sister had over 20 bites on her forehead and we were only there two days. When we mentioned the mosquitoes, the desk clerk just shrugged his shoulders.

I am sure it used be a luxurious place to stay but this hotel needs some update. No instruction for how to get into the property to park our car. There was no porter to carry our bags so we carried our bags to follow Tue hotel manager to get to our room. Very spacious room but the mattress was sagging and not much water pressure for the shower. Our room had too many mosquitoes that we had to ask the hotel to give us a different room. Breakfast was decent.

Staff was so helpful and friendly. About a 10 minute walk to train into Naples. Went to Naples daily so it was total about 45 minute commute with train and walking. Hotel was clean and staff amazing. We took trips which left from Naples at 8:00 am a couple of days and staff made sure we had something to eat in the morning even thou we had to leave before breakfast each day. Enjoyed our stay and would definitely return.

This place is beautiful. The staff is friendly, respectful, and helpful. I had a problem with the TV, and it was quickly solved. The WI-FI was very spotty; however, it was a moderate problem as we were too tired to do anything. The spotty WI-FI can be a problem, especially when planning what to do. Finally, I am transgender, and one very positive side of this place is that I felt safe, and there was no misgendering.

Staff here are very friendly and professional they will help and do anything for you.the buffet breakfast was good with a good choice of food and drink.the menu for lunch and evening meal doesn't change and can become very boring.the rooms are very clean and cleaned daily.the style of the rooms are very historical to represent the buildings purpose from centuries ago and can feel a bit eerie if you dont like that kind of thing!Although you have everything you need in there except a kettle or iron.there is absolutely nothing going on at night here.if you like having a couple of drinks at the reception bar with no-one around then go to bed at 10 o'clock then this is for you! The grounds at the back are very nice,quiet and well maintained.the pool is clean and again always quiet. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from this hotel if you want a meal or drink out

The picture for sure make this place look a lot nicer than it is. I saw that all of the reviews were from 2019 and they told us we were only their third American booking since before Covid. Perhaps the place got run down a bit during 1.5 years of a pandemic. The front desk service was awesome. We dropped our bags off before heading to Pompeii and they chilled a bottle of wine we had bought from a winery. They let us check in a little bit early. The hotel is in a bit of a sketchy looking area but once you are inside, it feels safe. There is a locked gate for parking and for the hotel entrance. The room only had a skylight so at night it appeared not to have windows. The small fridge did not work. The hair dryer also did not work. The beds were very hard. However, breakfast made up for it. The breakfast had eggs, bacon, cheese, meat, and amazing croissants! Also, the ambiance of sitting in the garden while sipping coffee was great!! I was planning to leave a bad review until the morning came. Then when I saw the hotel in the light and enjoyed the breakfast, I changed my mind. The place needs some upgrades and seems a bit creepy at night but overall, it's good value for the money you pay. It's also fairly close to Pompeii.

What a find. An amazing place. Don't just visit the Roman ruins, 18th Century Ercolano, including the bourbon summer palace is amazing. This villa is like stepping back in time. Take the suites, its like living in your own personal palace. A truly unique experience.

An interesting hotel within walking distance of the Herculaneum site, albeit through a poor area of the city. Lovely building but set in nice secure grounds with parking. Excellent views of Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples from the roof terraces. We had a comfortable modern room in the roof annex, the only criticism is that the walls between the rooms are thin and so the neighbours' activity could be clearly heard. The restaurant is very good, offering fresh local fish, pasta etc. Breakfast was a bit too cake and pastry focussed for our taste, but seemed to satisfy the large groups of students who we shared the restaurant with. The staff were unfailingly helpful and pleasant, especially in reception.

Villa Signorini was very handy for walking to the Herculaneum ruins in Ercolano and getting the bus up to Vesuvius from outside the railway station. The property was very nice and in lovely grounds. Very good breakfast too.

Brimming with character, but could use TLC

Firstly, the property is absolutely spectacular. Ercolano is quite scary, the city seems to be really corrupt, impoverished and not safe, but the premises of Hotel Villa Signorini seem to be secure.

The staff are lovely, we were upgraded to the 18th century villa for our honeymoon for no additional charge.

The room was absolutely incredible and brimming with history. I do understand that with character comes some degradation, but I do think this hotel is overdue for some repairs. The communal spaces are well kept, but the plaster and paint on our ceiling was flaking off and the marble in the bathroom looked as though it had been stained with blood some years ago.

I would recommend staying in the villa itself, the rooms outside it are what you would find at a roadside motel in the states.

We ate at the hotel three times, the food was surprisingly good and all meals were very enjoyable. It was a little overpriced for what it was, but we paid for the convenience.

If you want to stay near Pompeii or the ruins of the Herculaneum, I would recommend it. But, there is not much to see or do in Ercolano, and going out after dark is at your own discretion.

It’s very beautiful. We only spent one night here. We stopped by to see the ruins, which learned are better than Pompeii. We’ve been traveling through Rome and Paris and I must stay they had the most comfortable bed and the area is very quiet. Staff was very helpful and friendly. We have dinner and was very delicious.

Lovely hotel, with friendly staff (from smiley cleaners, helpful reception staff to professional restaurant staff), nice rooms, excellent pool.
The place has clearly been nicely restored from a run-down state in the past, and is still being improved and enlarged today.
The food at breakfast (included with our room), and at lunch and dinner time (good value and high quality) was great.
Herculaneum (UNESCO world heritage site) is only 20 mins walk away, and Vesuvius and Pompeii, and Naples are all easily accessible by two nearby rail lines (cheap!)
Herculaneum is not a rich suburb of Naples, and he streets are a bit grubby, but the locals were friendly, and there were some interesting street markets to visit. Our family enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it

Beautiful old building. Our room was in the main building on the top floor. Although it only had a small window, it was a stylish room with a good shower.
Shampoo, shower gel, soap and a hairdryer were provided.
There was a mini bar in the room with reasonable priced drinks.
We enjoyed the pool which had towels provided and a snack and drink bar. We did think the opening hours were too short though (opened at 11.30am).
Breakfast and dinner were served on the outdoor terraced which was shaded by large parasols.
The property description says this is a smoke free property but smoking was allowed on the terrace which was not pleasant when others were eating.
We very much liked the hotel which was 10mins walk from 2 train stations although the area is very residential so dining options are limited outside the hotel, especially on a Sunday when most restaurants we found were closed.
The hotel is outside the Naples city limits so taxis from the airport are more expensive as there is a different tariff.

The historical significance of the property was amazing. The foyer and the ceilings were beautiful. The beds were terrible (not a mattress, only a boxspring). The food was good and the pool was OK, but everything else was not up to standard of a four star rating...it is quite possibly less than 2. There was mould in the bathroom, the bedding was old and dusty, the floors were dirty, and the deck was in a state of disrepair. The grounds DO NOT look like the photo, no lights worked, the fountain was full of green water and the grass and foliage was brown and dried.

Lovely old building.good staff.clean ,good pool area.Breakfast very good.The only downside is the area as there isn't much around the area.You can walk about 15 minutes and reach the train station which will take you to Pompeii, Sorrento,Naples and other surrounding area's.

Still plenty or restoration work ongoing, room has efficient air con. Did not see rooms in main building as stayed in annex room which was ok. Probably better rated as 3 star an d not 4. Ideal for a weekend break . Quiet location.

This is a rather beautiful old Villa which shows promise but sadly doesn’t always live up to it. Some staff were excellent, some a bit up their own backside and some just downright funny - they’d give Fawlty Towers Manuel a run for his money!

Lovely old building

Great old impressive rooms - pay the extra to upgrade as its the rooms that you are there for (even though they need a little TLC). Grounds fab. Not a lot in immediate area but bar (5 euros for 0.33 bottle of Peroni) and restaurant in hotel (restaurant opens at 8pm).

Eccentric 19th century villa

This is a picturesque, eccentric early 19th century villa perched between Portici and Ercolano. We booked two suites that turned out to be two very large rooms with 15-foot frescoed ceilings. The street-side room had a large, windowed bathroom with a view of Vesuvius, but the cobbled street is busy and noisy. The other room had two French doors to a huge terrace overlooking the gardens, but the bathroom was split between a frosted glass cubicle containing the toilet and sink, and a closet that had been converted into a shower, at the other end of the room. Neither room is set up to allow one person to sleep while the other lounges on a couch, and because they have high ceilings and (beautiful) marble floors, every noise and whisper gets amplified. The on-site restaurant is good and the staff at the desk are pleasant and helpful. The building is not in the sort of shape that a North American might expect from a hotel or a nice bed and breakfast, but it is eccentric in a good way. WiFi was very, very limited.
The neighbourhood is very rough around the edges, and it's a bit of a walk to the train station in Portici. However, the trains to Naples run every 15 minutes and are super cheap. If you have a car, it's a short drive ups Vesuvius, and access to the highway is relatively simple (with GPS). There is secure parking in the gardens.
If you're traveling on foot, this is probably not a convenient spot to stay.

This was the worst room I've ever had. It was a sparse, poorly constructrd hostel room in an attic with no windows. The shower leaked everywhere on the floor. NOT AS ADVERTISED. The wifi didn't work although the front desk gave us a hot spot to use once we complained. This was not booked as a hostel room, it was booked as a hotel room in a historic and charming villa. NOT! We paid more for this room than any other hotel or villa during our trip throughout southern Italy.

Average Stay in this once grand building

The hotel was obviously once a very grand building, but these old, grand buildings obviously cost a fortune to maintain and upkeep. Whilst your first impression might be good, when you actually look around you there are cracks on a lot of the walls, floors and ceilings. We had a very large room, a suite I believe. The view overlooked what seemed to be a dump yard for the hotel. The area surrounding the hotel is absolutely awful, but of course this is not the fault of the hotels. We were forced to eat our evening meal here, as an initial wander in the dark did not come up with any local restaurants. The food was average at best, although we had a nice bottle of wine. The main annoyance in the hotel restaurant was a large TV screen blaring out. We asked for it to be turned off but the only option was for it to be turned down, se we still had the annoyance of a bright screen flickering. I have only ever had a TV in an eating place if it were a sports bar, or a pub.NEVER in a restaurant anywhere in he world. Breakfast was a continental buffet, fine for one morning. Bed was not particularly comfortable. All in all it was somewhat a Fawlty Towers Experience. WiFi in the room was non existent at our area of the hotel. Obviously there are incredibly thick walls everywhere so this is probably the reason why. i would think 3 star rating would be more fair, however I would suggest this is probably the best hotel in the area.

Lovely quiet villa in unassuming local area

This hotel is actually a 300 year old villa. The bedrooms are amazing in the main building so it is worth paying the extra on top of the Annex room price, the bedroom size and bathroom size/facilities were really good. The breakfast room is too small for the number of guests and each day you'll be lucky to get a table straight away - and this is the only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5. The hotel is situated on an unassuming back street about half way between Portici and Ercolano - you can walk to either in ten minutes. The service is very good and the grounds are lovely too. Portici train station will take you to Naples in 20 minutes or Salerno in 1hr5mins and the train tickets are cheap.

History stay

To pull up in your car it feels uncomfortable because the street is dirty and crowded. Once you can make contact via a speaker box things get much better. They open the gate and you drive I to a different world. There is a Hugh estate like setting before you. The staff was great and gave us their attention and advise about the property. We stayed in a room that had history back to the 17 hundreds. We felt very comfortable and safe inside the compound and choose to stay in for dinner rather than trying to drive out into the streets.

Hotel is quite basic and staff ok. The surrounding area isn’t good and would not recommend using this hotel for sightseeing as a fair walk to train station. The outdoor pool is not in use out of season which was a pain for us as we booked the hotel to swim every day and relax plus and the weather was great but could not use the facility! We asked for an upgrade and room was nice with a big terrace and we did get a discount in compensation for no pool use.

Quick one night stay on way to Positano

The hotel itself was very old and it shows, however it was very clean. The service was great and we had no issues with our room or checking in late (around 11:45pm). The one main drawback is that the property is located in a sketchy part of Naples, and when you arrive close to midnight in a foreign country you definitely want to feel safe. Our room reminded us of an art museum or maybe a Roman palace with the extremely high ceiling and mural painted on it. We were probably only here for a total of 10 hours since we got up and left for Positano first thing, but overall it was a good stay. Just don’t go into it expecting to be in a modern hotel.

Terrible location, old properties in major need of repair, with awful bone shaker roads. Stay away from Naples, next time, and simply stay at Amalfi Coast / Capri. Garden room had no views from the patio area as trees blocked any view, also no sea views...
