I Felt the Romanian Embrace of a Helpful Staff

I was greeted with a warm and friendly front desk! They were accommodating, cordial, and kind. The room was quiet and comforting. I showed up during the rain and left with the sun shining brightly all over Cluj-Napoca!

Clean stay, friendly staff

Clean, pleasant staff greeting, howver, location was disappointing as view is all construction and tucked behind from the main city center. Walking distance though to shops and food. I was also disappointed I didn’t get offered a cookie upon check-in. They said I could purchase it. All in all, hotel is good.

I was looking forward to our stay at this hotel. However, the hotel seems tired and in dire need of a refresh. The bathroom in my room was not in good shape. While the shower was ok, the shower cabin had serious signs of wear and tear. And the sink pedestal was in very bad shape..
I would not recommend this hotel, especially at this price point.

I checked in on a Saturday afternoon. Both Saturday and Sunday the gotel hosted weddings. It was extremely loud until 11:00 pm. When asked hotel for refund they only gave me 25 percent discount. Pitiful.

Don’t let name fool you

Pillows like concrete sacks, breakfast was less than desirable, no coffee outside open hours of restaurant For the price, it was a let down, the manager must be on vacation, I had no blow dryer in room, I left a day early as I needed to find a place to sleep, was charged the last day as well, $172 per night in Romania is a lot, the Golden Rose was nicer @ 79$

Only water on first of 9 nights. Only milk on first of 9 nights. Toilet didn’t flush properly. Shower leaked. Bar fridge empty. Bedside table too low. No laundry service on weekends. Despite complaining twice I was not moved to another room.

By far, one of my favorite place to stay in Cluj! Very nice and clean rooms, great food, staff is helpful and polite, plus the location is great, super close to the city centre (5 mins walk). Also, they have nice spa facilities!

reat hotel this one,lovely sauna pool area,very clean and tidy.
Very friendly staff, also cracking cookie on arrival.
Clean and friendly bar area.
Room was lovely but very hot,i think this comes from underfloor heating, the air con was great neither.
The shower was great but unfortunately, because it was a walk in shower it wasn't sealed correctly and leaked everywhere.
Hair dryer didn't work but got it replacent within 5 mins...very good.
I ate in the restaurant i thought the food was very good and service was excellent.
I asked for an alarm call first thing in the morning but i never came through...good job my phone alarm was working.
overall was happy with this hotel and would stay here again.

This is the place to stay in Cluj-Napoca

The hotel was terrific. It is in the best part of the city, close to the town square, cathedral, and good restaurants. Cluj-Napoca is actually a great town with a long history and capital of the Transylvania region. The room was perfectly comfortable with lots of space, a great bathroom and an excellent bed. The breakfast was exceptional. We actually moved to this hotel from another one in Cluj-Napoca which was really sketchy. I definitely recommend this hotel. The staff spoke great English and were very helpful.

Great hotel in very convenient location

Everything was great with the hotel. Staff and service were perfect and location was amazing providing easy access to city centre, sights and all the cool cafes and restaurants. Breakfast was fresh, tasty and plentiful.

My only problem was with the aircon in the room. It became hot at which point I lowered the temperature by 1 degree and that made it really cold. Never managed to get a comfortable temp to sleep.

Some of the items in the room had seen better days, there was a broken bed side light leaning on the light bulb along with another lamp which had a torn paper lampshade. TV reception was not the best.

The rest of the room was in good condition. The room had a good bathroom.

Stayed in room 213.
Was great but no bathtub in room. Was here for 1 week for work and the location is perfect to walk to the old town and to all the shops.
The hotel has a gym and a pool and a spa where you can get a massage.
Highly recommended.

I stayed at this hotel 2 weeks in October. Room had a comfortable king, large desk, wall TV and spacious bathroom (no tub though, only large shower), refrigerator and coffe/tea making amenities, and free wifi. The design is modern, clean and comfortable. The room was on the third floor, facing Sindicatelor St. and a nice view of the Belvedere hotel up on the hill.
Maid service was prompt and good. A continental breakfast was included in the price, with a variety of hot food (eggs, sausage, mushrooms, bacon), cold cuts, yoghurt, cheeses, etc.
I had dinner at their restaurant, but was rather deserted and expensive compared to other restaurants in the city. Food and service was good. The hotel also has a bar and a pool, but I did not use them.
Front desk was helpful in ordering taxi. At checkout there was a mixup with some dinners (added by mistake to my bill) but everything was resolved promptly. The lobby has a couple of computers for guests.
I highly recommend this hotel for stay in Cluj.

Nice but be careful when booking.

Overall, this is a nice hotel with decent facilities. The staff are friendly and the breakfast buffet was decent. It's definitely not five stars, but I often find hotel ratings in Europe are off. In North American this would be 3.5 stars. The location is good being on the edge of the old town but down a side street so it's quiet.

Be aware that this hotel has 2 towers. The old tower has old rooms with dated and rather worn furniture, bare walls, etc. The new tower has the nice rooms with modern finishings that you see on the hotel's own website. The new rooms are up to the Hilton standard, while the old rooms most certainly are not.

When I first checked in, I was given one of the old rooms and was quite disappointed (given this was a supposedly five-star hotel and the most expensive place in town on my dates). The next day I insisted on being moved to the new wing, which was much nicer.

Fantastic location - unlike most other hotels, this is nestled on a quiet street, away from the main roads traffic. Within 5-10 min of everything - great restaurants, city center, shopping.

Excellent service, very friendly staff, all very accomodating. Breakfast was top notch, abd the gym/spa facilities on top floor are known to be some of the best in town.

I gave only a four star on room because i thought the decor was sparse, and could be softened; but the room was spacious overall, so more of a perdonal preference.

Wifi was a bit spotty, but staff did their best to address the issues- so not a significant problem.

The hotel is currently having a lot of construction work done, and our room was right next to where this was taking place, however when I spoke to reception about the problem, they were extremely helpful, and moved us to a much nicer and quieter room. Generally the hotel was nice and in a great central location.

Decent hotel in Cluj

Nice centrally located hotel - easy walk to the central square and the office I was visiting. Comfortable and well setup room but the aircon would only heat (perhaps some central setting for winter) which bothered me. I turned the aircon off and then it was a comfortable temperature. Swimming pool and spa (sauna) were both luxurious. Though it is a smoking hotel - just like all other Romanian establishments, the room was free from any smells etc so my I initial concerns were gone as soon as I arrived. Internet connection was fine.

I felt that this was a good 4 star level hotel by European standards and not a 5 star. Great hotel overall and I eould stay again.

A large hotel which caters mostly to local business types and tour groups. The 90s decor is preserved pretty much intact, and could do with a freshen-up, not least because the hotel still allows smoking. OK food, very nice geothermal swimming pool, and a quiet location next to the river just out of the centre.

Large and comfy rooms, nice beds, great staff, delicious breakfast. The air conditioning system didn't really help on a hot summer day. In addition the pool was closed. The location is on a quiet street, but it's a bit inconvenient to walk from the city center.

Snotty woman at reception sort of set an ugly mood for our stay of two nights, but everyone else was very nice. She was awful though, but seems to be the case in a lot of Romania. Good breakfast. AC was not too cool - in fact, room was way too warm. Sizable room, good beds. Hotel is a little tricky to find by car on small, one-way streets. Returned to Cluj a few days later and stayed at the Hotel Beyfin and found it much superior for a little cheaper and with a fantastic city view. Would recommend Beyfin over City Plaza.

Angenehmer Aufenthalt.

Wir waren zum wiederholten Mal in dem Hotel. Auch dieses Mal war alles wundebar. Wir haben an der Rezeption ein Zimmerupgrade erhalten. Wir konnten über unser Handy ein Fussballspiel auf dem grossen TV in der Bar anschauen und wurden in der Zeit freundlich mit Getränken und Essen versorgt. Bad war groß, mit separater Dusche und Badewanne. Frühstück war gut, optional mit nach Wunsch zubereitem Omelett. Die typischen, warmen Cookies bei Double Tree wurden beim Einchecken auch nicht vergessen. Denn Pool haben wir diese Mal aus Zeitgründen nicht genutzt, waren aber letztes Mal auch damit zufrieden. Wir kommen wieder.

Bei uns im Hotel fehlte ein Stück Parkett vor und unter dem Bett. Hier hat man, um es zu kaschieren, einfach ein Teppich darüber gelegt… das ist eines 5 Sterne Hotel nicht würdig! Das ist kein Hilton Standard!!!
